"Tucked away down a narrow street, The Plough proudly declares that it is 'community owned, family run'. The community in question is the people of Trottiscliffe, who rallied round to buy and refurbish their local pub when property developers were circling. Among their number was the Yates family, who now look after this small restaurant offering a concise menu of carefully crafted, ambitious and classically based dishes. Local produce, some of it their own, informs the menus – even the butter is homemade." - Michelin Inspector

Another visit another 5 star experience It was quite quiet, but its midweek lunch! Went on a last minute visit. Decided to have the set lunch as I have some majorly expensive meals coming soon. I was greeted very politely and throughout the whole experience. The amuse bouche was a wonderful selection of their home grown vegetables two stunning breads, butter and aioli. Starter was a pea tortellini which was fascinating and delicious. Main was a chicken dish with added miso hispi cabbage. Dessert was a creme fresh mousse with elderflower and strawberry. I then had a couple of chocolates as petition fours. Having been here a few times, this was probably the best meal I have had here. A developing venue with great food and staff. Alex is a very passionate chef, unquestionably will attain greater accolades in the future

Absolutely stunning 8-course tasting menu! Each dish was a masterpiece, with flavours and presentation that exceeded my expectations. The service was truly wonderful - attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. A truly unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend!" 5/5 stars.

Beautiful dining room with attentive, enthusiastic and informative service. A real gem with a focus on their locally grown vegetables. Wine pairing includes a few English wines which is always good to see. Some excellent cooking too.

We opted for the à la carte menu. The starter was absolutely delicious, and we really enjoyed the home-grown vegetables! Unfortunately, the main course was a bit of a letdown—it lacked strong flavor and the portion was very small, more like something you'd find in a tasting menu. Desserts were lovely, and the staff were very friendly. As we aren't local, we probably won’t go out of our way to return, though.

A very special little restaurant. We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a Kentish taster menu of locally sourced food. Starting with an amuse-bouche that set the scene for the eight delightful courses - each course brought joy and smiles. The staff are passionate about food, each with their own stories and experiences of seeing or taking part in how the food was grown or produced. It's definitely a spot to return to for a special occasion. Thank you to Grace and the rest of the team.

Exceptional food - the vegetarian tasting menu was as good as they come, and wine pairings were excellent. I don't normally like to take photos of a meal but these dishes were too beautiful not to. Clearly lots of passion for local food at this restaurant - a real gem

I feel slightly blown away by the quality of the food here, and I can honestly say my dinner here last night was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. We chose from the à la carte menu. We tried the quail, miso hazelnut butternut spelt, rack of lamb and turbot. Not to mention the side of buttery and crispy confit potato, and a chocolate desert of dreams. All the flavours were so carefully thought out, and worked so brilliantly all together making each dish very memorable and multidimensional. You are brought out extra tasting items, all of course locally made/sourced. The service is so friendly and setting is cosy and intimate. The staff are very knowledgeable. There is also a fantastic wine list with some amazing options at really reasonable prices- it is nice to get a selection of Rieslings too which you don’t often see. It may be higher end on the pricing however for the quality of food and high standard of cooking it is reasonable. I think I will remember this meal for a long time.

Absolutely first class. Like really.... The passion and the heart that goes into the service and delivery of food is exemplary and simply pure. I cannot praise this enough. The turbot was perfectly cooked in its miso glaze. Firm soft and divinely interesting. I think what is most exciting about this place is the couple of young geniuses running it. He understands the nuance of flavors and she compliments the articulation of the creation. If thats too wordy for you then just let you brain do the layered deconstruct of the plates. Its brilliant food and a lovely place to boot. Come and support Some young people doing something timeless. I had the best time here and utterly loved it.
