Bowman's Tavern

Went a few weeks back on a Friday and sat in the bar area for the piano singing. The food was great, the whipped ricotta was a favorite. When the salmon and tuna tartar finally arrived with our meals (we had ordered as an appetizer and inquired twice) it proved to be fresh and delicious. The meals were great. But man, that service really sucked. The bartender was handling the tables in the bar area and she just could not be bothered. In the least. There was another bartender behind the bar working with her so she was not alone. I am not sure if its just poor planning but she truly seemed to not even care, maybe because we were not regulars. Truly a disappointment.

This is a charming classic American restaurant with a little Italian flair. There was a live piano man singer in the dining room! You just don't see that often. Meat loaf was rich and flavorful. I couldn't pass up with seafood pasta. Delicious. French onion soup had a good broth. Not the best I've had, but quite good. We'll be back!

Wowww. Amazing and out of expectations. Foods and drinks are definitely wonderful and will definitely come back for all.

Consistently great food and service. The atmosphere is comfortable and the decor is really warm and inviting.The menu always has something new, seasonally, and if you're a burger lover like me you must try a burger! The side salad is large, very fresh and they make all of their dressings in house. The blue cheese dressing is amazing. One of my favorite places in Bucks County

My wife and I went to Bowman’s on Saturday evening. Easy reservation online. Live jazz music which added to the vibe. I had a house salad, filet, and dessert was an affogato. All were excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly. My wife had the bolognese and loved every bite. This was our first time here but we will definitely be back.

We used to love this place but it seems to be going downhill. Our dinner was just okay. I got the St Louis ribs, mainly because the pear and cranberry stuffing sounded so good. Unfortunately, the stuffing was just a block of dense, flavorless bread. And then I had to pay $6 to add about 10 green beans to my meal, bringing the total to $39. My daughter had the pappardelle with mushrooms. No flavor. The other two diners enjoyed their meals (the duck and the meatloaf). The service was inattentive and scattered. For the four of us, the bill was close to $300 with tip. You'd think they could bring a complimentary basket of bread to the table for that price, but no....I think there's an option on the menu to pay for a bread board. And then you're forced to pay for valet parking. I don't think we'll be back.

Love the drinks, service and atmosphere at the tavern. The food is just average. The buffalo wings, sandwiches and French fries each get 5 stars. But the grilled peach salad had peaches that were not grilled and also not quite ripe. The French onion soup is good but not great. Our server, Danielle, was attentive and on the ball. Overall a decent place. We will be back.

We were intrigued when we saw the menu because across the top they listed the name of their chef and the sous chefs quite preeminently. For us, we thought this was simply a fancy burger joint, but it really is much more than that. The menu items were all notched up more than the traditional items and we had some really crazy great flavors. The service was really warm and friendly and we enjoyed our lunch greatly.

I think this place deserves a much higher rating than a 3.9 We stopped in for lunch on this summery early March afternoon. We drove past all the crowded spots in town and arrived at this more secluded location. They had a small outdoor area with about 4 or 5 tables, so we decided to take advantage of the sunshine. To start, we ordered the calamari and a Greek panzanella salad. Both were delicious, but really loved the sauces that come on/with the calamari. For mains, my husband ordered the meatloaf and I had the lamb burger with beer-battered onion rings. Unfortunately, too full for dessert. Our server was great, didn't catch her name - but she's one of the newest bartenders. She took great care of us and was really helpful with answering our questions, since it was our first time there. The place has a parking lot, but expect Valet at peak times. Regular menu, plus daily specials. Overall, solid neighborhood spot, away from the crowds. Didn't get to look around inside but I'm sure the ambience is nice at night. We'll definitely be back!

Great Lunch, right next to the Delaware River - - - - - - - - November, 2025 Visit We were in town for a family baby shower and the group picked Bowman's Tavern, and that was a great recommendation - great service and great food. Beyond the strong selection of gluten free (gf) menu items, Bowman's makes some really great food. We REALLY enjoyed: Appetizer: - Cheese plate - Calamari, fried - Mussels For lunch we enjoyed: - Caesar salad and Lamb-burger Good stuff! Thank you, Bowman's Tavern ----- ----- -----

Had a fabulous meal here that started with happy hour appetizers and ended with entrees and espresso martinis. There's live music here most, if not all, nights. Went with two friends and we were here for hours - really enjoyed ourselves. Great atmosphere and food.

Bowman's Tavern has a cozy vibe for a cold day. On a Saturday afternoon, the bar was full, and the atmosphere still managed to be cozy. My husband ordered wings, which were pretty average. My turkey and cranberry sandwich was pretty good. The bar service was a bit slow, but to be fair, it seemed like there was only one person servicing the bar and restaurant area. Overall, I would probably go with 3.5 stars if that was an option.

We've been going to Bowman's Tavern for many years because it's halfway between where my parents live and where I live. I've never understood why they have valet parking. We've only been at lunchtime so maybe it's more convenient for dinner time. I would prefer no valet parking. There's a parking lot very close to the restaurant so it doesn't seem necessary. Beth was our server. She was friendly and helpful. We had the Bowman's Burger, cheese steak, and sliced roast beef sandwich. The sliced roast beef sandwich had the best bread. For dessert, we had the brownie as well as churros which were on the special menu for today. Everything was delicious.

Great menu, so many choices we have to come back. Warm, friendly and cozy atmosphere. Service was great, get the French onion soup, roasted chicken or anything!

I wanted to like this place more than I did. Let's start with the parking. They have a very small self parking lot which was full when I arrived. The large parking lot on the other side is valet park only which seems ridiculous, it's not like it's in a busy downtown area. While the valet park is free, you of course have to tip them for driving your car 20 feet to an open space... Inside I was expecting an old style tavern experience, but the table we were sat at in the dining room was very dark because the lights were not working and the drop ceiling gave it an office feel. As for the food, the lamb meatballs tasted OK, lacking a little in seasoning and herbs, but the consistency was that of a formed extremely finely ground meat, not at all what I was expecting based on my background in England. The burger on the other hand was quite good. The service was OK. One final point is that they have a credit and debit card surcharge of 4% which is one of the highest I've come across. Unfortunately, nothing about this place screamed come back and try me a second time!

It has been a few years since we ate at Bowman's Tavern, and we decided to have Happy Hour here tonight. It also happened to be Taco Tuesday. ----- FOOD (4/5) Roast Pork Sandwich (3/5 ) -- We shared a pork sandwich which was pulled pork on a long roll with broccoli rabe, roasted hot peppers, and melted provolone.  The pork was braised rather than roasted, the broccoli rabe was under cooked with tough stems, and there was too much provolone for the amount of pork. ($17) Onion Rings (4/5) -- We were offered onion rings as one of the sides with the Pork Sandwich ... but not told there would be a $3 uplift. Fish & Chips (4/5) -- Two large Altantic cod fillets with fries and cole slaw. ($26) Tacos (3/5) -- The soft tacos ordered were Al Pastor and Carne Asada. There was a good amount of meat in each taco, but they lacked flavor and spice. ($8 per pair) ----- SERVICE (3/5) The restaurant was very busy, including a 17-person in the dining room, and understaffed.  Our server was also tending the bar.  Twice we had to chase her down. ----- DRINKS (5/5) Drinks from the bar were excellent.  I had the Old Fashioned, and my wife had a Gin Martini, extra dry with olives.  Both great.  Others had Cosmopolitans and IPAs. ---- AMBIANCE (4/5) I really like the dark wood, pub-like interior.  Tables in the bar area are hi-boys; there are standard tables in the dining room. The bar area was loud. A nice touch was live music.

Lobster bisque was very watery and not one piece of lobster. We mentioned it to the waiter didn't seem to care. We order the roast beef sandwich very disappointing. They must of got a new chef.

This is a fun place with consistent food. The service is away good and the vib is friendly and up beat.

The 2 of us enjoyed an early dinner today at Bowman's. Lorenzo was playing the piano, and guitar and flute). I had a special menu item: the Chicken Pot Pie and it was delicious! My companion had the classic Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and string beans. Great value. Valet parking. Just outside of New Hope.

We go there for lunch. Their steak sandwiches are very good. There is live music at night. They have free valet parking. I don't like using the valet parking, so I don't go there for dinner dinner.

Service was nonexistent at best. They put us at a table next to the service closet despite many empty tables. When someone finally came to our table I asked to be moved but was told they were short a waiter for the empty area. Wait staff kept bumping into my chair. Food was nothing special. Ambiance tavern style but nothing special.

Used to be great but the service and food quality now have gone way down.This used to be one of our favorites but after four years of very good this past year has truly been terrible and management could care less.Save your money and your time Burgers were grey and managers handled disgusting food with no remorse.

This place is a family favorite. The food is always good and the basic burger to inspired chef specialities. Servers are pleasant and well informed about menu items. Atmosphere is pleasant. The clientele ranges from young families to a more mature patrons. Prices appropriate to what you get. Definitely try this place

It started with the "valet" parking. Rude kids driving your car. pretty much open seating, since there were not many people there for dinner at 5:30. Food was ok, but a bit slow and the drink pour was poor.

My husband and I really have enjoyed the food and drinks here. It's in our rotation and we go every couple of months. We went about 2 months ago and discovered they have a new chef who specializes in Italian food. We also discovered we are no longer able to get our favorite mac and cheese in Bucks Cty because it is off the menu!! This disappointed another couple that was dining there as well. We ordered cheese wheel pasta without added protein for a hefty $26, which was overcooked and bland. We also ordered eggplant rolitini that was spectacular! We usually have decent service but I would say the bartender there is typically super busy and stressed with multiple tasks, he could use some help. Atmosphere/environment is great! (Outdoor dining chairs are uncomfortable, though the space is wonderful!) We will return but with some hesitation. As we all know, we have multiple fantastic dining options in this great county!

First time I've been here and I have to say the salmon was perfect..... I asked for well done and I got it just the way I like it. The server was efficient and attentive even though the restaurant was busy. I loved the community vibe and the karaoke singing!

A short musket shot from Washington's Crossing, Bowman's Tavern could simply just mail it in given its location and the constant parade of touristas that pass by on their way to downtown New Hope for their palm readings and authentic, imitation tchotchkes. The food here is way above average when all it really needs to be is edible. The Calamari in chili oil was amazing as was the beet salad and my very Reubenesque Reuben sandwich. If you want a terrific meal without having to fight the hordes in New Hope, the colonial welcome mat is out at Bowman's. Five easy muskets.

The food was disappointing, no grilled chicken for people who don't eat beef, no baked potatoes, sweet or russet, and every thing except the Brussel spouts was tasteless and was way overcharged

An attractive place that's larger inside than I expected it to be. There were several things on the menu I wanted to try, and opted for what I think was like an open faced Thanksgiving sandwich. I wasn't expecting the cranberry sauce to be mixed into the sandwich, and every bit of it - the turkey, the gravy, even the cranberry sauce, seemed at least a tiny bit not as good as it should've been, especially for the prices. I'm willing to go back and try something else, but I'll be sure to ask plenty of questions in order to get a better idea of what I can expect to be served. I think it's been about a month, so my husband can't remember exactly what he had, but he knows it was a vegetarian or vegan dish and that he was very pleased with it. Friendly service, both inside and at valet parking.

This is a place that my wife and I have eaten at many times. We heard there is new management and some folks were not too happy with it, but we decided to go for it any way and made a reservation for my son's birthday at this place for 15 people. They booked us and all seemed well. A few days later they called and said that they screwed up our reservation and instead of our party being split into 2 tables, we will now be sat at a table of 5, 4 and 3 tables of 2. We were worried about the layout, so went to the restaurant to see how it looks. We spoke to their manager named Brian. Who showed us the layout and we all agreed that this would work. The very next day, this same manager calls us and says that our reservation is cancelled because it is too many people and TOO STRESSFUL for them. So now we are a week away and we have no venue. I've never had a restaurant cancel a reservation last minute because it is too stressful for them. This is especially perplexing since the space was available and called for. Separate tables means separate checks and could even be different servers, so where is the stress? Do they prefer an empty restaurant on a Saturday night so they can be stress free? I'm never going to this place again.

We sat in the bar for an early dinner. Fun little place. The pork and broccoli rabe sandwich is ... the best I've ever had. There, I said it. The Mac and cheese with chorizo was also pretty incredible. Would love to go back and check out the live music, especially the cabaret show. If you go, definitely get a reservation. The place was packed! There's free valet parking and you can tip via Venmo, which is always a huge relief.

The food is so good and the portion sizes are perfect. The only thing I have had here that I wasn't much of a fan of was the Ruben, but the burgers, wings, roast beef, steak and eggs, whipped ricotta, corn fritters, ALL AMAZING. I cannot wait to come back for brunch again I want to try the juevos Ranchero. This is a valet drive up type of place but they're quick with getting your vehicle. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating overall great place to go for brunch, lunch, dinner or even dessert.

We have been here many times over the years, but we have noticed that it is getting better and better. I don't know what's going on in the kitchen but their food is SO GOOD now. There are chefs who get lots of stars because they make tons of money and have fancy ingredients on tiny little plates. But for me, a chef who can make a memorable meal out of a beet salad and a burger with whiskey sauce and onion rings - where we eat every little bite of that beet salad and its creamy dressing and we are practically Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally over the perfectly cooked burger and exquisitely fried onion rings - is the place we are going to spend our money time and time again. We love the menu because it is diverse enough that you can go every week and not get tired of it - pasta with mushrooms one week, burgers another, the incredible crispy chicken sandwich another. Cocktails are made perfectly. It's just a great place and we are happy to live near it. Also to the people who don't like the valet parking - there is a lot to the New Hope side of the restaurant that is park yourself. I'm not a giant fan of the early Friday evening music - Feelings and Memories - but that's not a big deal and we are happy to go time and time again.

I called to make a reservation for 11 people for 3 weeks from now on a Friday night. I was told by the manager -"that's too many people and we can have that large of a group especially on a Friday night" so no they didn't take my reservation. Guess they didn't want our business. We will find another place that will welcome paying customers.

Bowman's is my favorite restaurant, by far. The food is always fresh and creative and delicious, and their cocktails are far more generous compared to other places around here. We rarely get to go out for brunch (my favorite meal), and I have been dying to try Bowman's Sunday Brunch. We finally got to try it today. There were 5 of us, and it could not have been more lovely. Three of us had the omelette with potatoes and spring greens, one had the Eggs Benedict, and one had the beef stew (from the regular menu.) Every single one of us loved what we had chosen. We all shared the whipped Fulper Farms ricotta and crostini appetizer to start, which is one of my favorite things. Yum! The service by Carly and the rest of the extremely attentive staff was perfection, as always. And the music, provided by Bill Avayou and his group, was absolutely divine. You couldn't ask for a more perfect brunch experience, all around. I can't believe it took me so long to get to brunch at Bowman's.

Went there last weekend with friends. Great server and the ambiance is nice. Food was terrible. Apps were amateurish. Friend sent her burger back. She wanted medium/well. It came out raw, with a red soaked bun. Gross. We will not be backed.

Unbelievable night at Bowman's Tavern. Great Ambiance, fantastic service and amazing food. Make a reservation because the place was packed. Live music was awesome, but from the dining room, it wasn't blaring, so we were able to enjoy our conversation. Calamari was awesome, wine was awesome, my steak was cooked perfectly and my fiancée loved the mushroom ravioli. So many great dessert specials to choose from, went with the tres leches cake and it did not disappoint. Can't recommend this place enough, we'll be back for sure

I am sad to leave such a poor review for a restaurant I used to frequent & recommend to others. I have not been here for several years and the last review I posted (via Facebook) was glowing. I love oysters. Happily, they are often on the menu at this establishment. Predictably, I ordered fried oysters and French fries today. I also asked the waitress for tartar sauce, at the time I ordered. Although not overly crowded (especially for a Saturday) our order took a long time to be delivered to the table. My plate of 5 oysters were large (and a little greasy upon biting in). Two oysters were so chewy, I had to discard the mastication in my napkin. They were breaded in something containing a hot spice. [There was an Oyster Tostado selection on the menu - perhaps the batter was inspired by, or created for, this dish.] Instead of tartar sauce, I was given some kind of dill-heavy (mayo & sour cream?) dipping sauce. I wasn't paying attention to the sauce when I had my first oyster. So, my initial impression was just that they were oddly flavored. That's when I first detected the tang to the batter. It was with the second oyster I realized I wasn't dipping them into tartar sauce. But by that time I had encountered one of the chewy ones and was trying to deal with discarding the mess. I probably could have found the waitress, waited until my oysters got colder, but by that time the iceberg had already hit and she was going down. I was so very disappointed.

Do not order the French onion soup. It was not good at all And for 12.00. Bartender was great.

A very nice restaurant with tons of charm and excellent service. Appetizers were from expected to unique (we had a mock Tuna Tartare) that was amazing! Our mains were exquisitely plated and we enjoyed the chicken dishes we ordered and would highly recommend them. A very good Wine and Beer list help bring this all together as a solid restaurant.

Good tavern food and friendly wait staff. The highlight is the Friday night sing along with piano player. Actually not a sing along as much as talented people belting out solos.

Zero stars - come here, especially if you are a woman, if you want to be berated and verbally attacked by the owner for noting your pork chop has taken over 30 minutes to arrive! Literally called my friend a disgusting pig for noting that to the waitress. All the verbal abuse being said in front of a toddler. We have been loyal local customers for years and this was nothing like we have ever experienced before. Unprofessional doesn't even begin to describe the treatment we endured.

Even before the food. The service was top notch. Pleasant atmosphere and very friendly service. Worth your time and money. Please try. The mussels are great.

This restaurant continuously serves excellent food with stellar service . The menu is always being adapted to the season and certainly doesn't disappoint. We had a group of 6 and our waitress was fantastic keeping everyone's drinks filled and food on the table . We were very happy with the seafood strong specials on the menu. I'm impressed with the kitchen and front of house here as they have always delivered top notch service and quality food and btw ... this was on a Saturday night !!!!!

I have passed this place many times going into New Hope. The other week we finally decided to check it out with my brother & sister in law. On Thursday nights, they have live singers/bands. I called on Monday to make a reservation since the weather was getting nicer out & I wanted to make sure we had a table not knowing how busy they really got. The hostess was extremely friendly and helpful. We got there a little earlier than my brother & S.I.L. so we decided to have a drink at the bar. They have complimentary fresh popped popcorn they give you. I love this idea! I ordered a black-raspberry cosmo, it was delicious! I could have drank a few more but since I was driving I stuck with 1. We were seated as soon as everyone in our party showed up, we had a great view of the live music. I was pleasantly surprised the music was not overly loud, where you can not talk to your table. Our singer was very energetic and really engaged with the restaurant. Our table ordered pan seared gnocchi, wood roasted lamb sandwich, the filet. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend stopping here if you are in the New Hope area.

The roast pork sandwich needs to be revised. The broccoli rabe was still on the stems! Very difficult to chew. Had to remove it from the sandwich. However, the service and ambience gets four stars.

We always have a great meal at Bowman's Tavern and the ambiance and service is excellent! Always consistent! It's our favorite place to go!

Great pub fare in friendly atmosphere! Delicious burgers, plates and sandwiches. Nice assortment of beers and cocktails too.

Food was very good and quick to arrive. They accommodated us last minute with kids. Service was excellent. Ambience was very nice with live music. We had a great meal!

Stopped in for a lovely brunch last week, this was our first visit and definitely won't be our last. Sampled 2 appetizers, chorizo mac and cheese and the octopus. We also tried the grilled reuben and the scallops. Both great, the scallops were amazing. Highly recommend

What a great experience from efficient vallet parking to perfect service to perfect food. We were so happy with dinner tonight! We chose to share a super fresh beet salad with microgreens, roasted pistachios and feta. It was absolutely delicious! My friend had French onion soup and fried oysters... a weird combo but she said they were yummy. I had wonderfully crispy fish and chips with delicious coleslaw about the best I ever ate. Even my iced tea was on point. Our server was outstanding. We were treated exactly like you'd want the best service to be. There was an excellent piano player and the mood was great. Not a stuffy place at all. You can eat sandwiches, salads or platters & there were families with children, older folks and hipsters all in the same place. I can't wait to go back!

Went out with another couple last night and was close to perfect. Ambience and service was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their meals except me, but I'll get to that. The group shared the ricotta app -excellent. The dinners were the Meatloaf, shrimp and grits, fish and chips -very good. Now to mine:( the Corn Ravioli. Ingredients were great, but it was drowning in what must have been a stick of butter. I'll have to double my statin dose after that meal.

This our go to restaurant in the New Hope area. Service is always great. Nice patio area and relaxing experience. Mix of older and young people. Good tavern food.
