"After a temporary closure, Northwest’s Boxer Ramen — now just known as Boxer (“It’s cleaner”) — is back in business in with an expanded menu that now includes sushi and sashimi. Thankfully, the okonomiyaki tots survived and true to their name, borrow from the Japanese pancake. The golden nuggets come topped with bonito flakes, slivered nori, and a squirt of mayonnaise. The optional add-on of crispy pork belly ups the ante deliciously. Boxer Ramen is open for dining in, takeout, and delivery." - Krista Garcia

Love the vibes here, so airy and bright. Great service, offered the specials and recommendations. Ramen is so good, especially the yellow curry. Cucumber salad is fresh and delicious. The spicy edamame is sweet and spicy, very delicious. Very reasonable prices for good quality food. Definitely going back again.

It is an excellent place to dine for ramen. The interior seating area is very roomy and contemporary. It has two separate dining areas. One d ining area is by the entrance. The other dining area is further in the restaurant by the bar and restroom. I love there are hanging hooks on the wall railing for me to hook my purse and shopping bags. What a great idea! We ordered the spicy red miso ramen, tonkotsu shio ramen, chicken karaoke and okonomyaki tots without crispy potk belly. The ramen bowl looks decent and you get good serving size of ramen. The char shiu pieces were way too fatty for us. However we loved the crispy pork belly bits. I preferred the spicy red miso broth. The tonkotsu broth is good but rather bland. The spicy red miso had good flavor and was not spicy really. I wish it came with black garlic oil. The tots was fine and it came with finely shaved fish flakes. I really enjoyed the chicken karaage. The chicken pieces were juicy and had very good flavor. Parking is definitely street parking only. It cam be difficult to find a spot depending on when you visit this restaurant. I highly recommend this place. The service was excellent.

Google
I had the pork belly rice bowl. I think it’s good, the pork belly itself is very crispy and chewy (I think a little too hard to my preference but still good) The cucumber avocado salad really hit the spot for me since I LOVE both cucumber and avocado. The 2 ramen wise I would vote for the tonkotsu ramen over the spicy one (and I’m usually all about spicy food) But the tonkotsu one is very flavorful and you can really taste the sesame flavoring or something (I think it’s delicious 👌🏻) rather than kinda drowned out by the spicy flavoring(? Overall it is very very good. But the reason why I took away a star is because it is very rich and salty. (Which isn’t necessarily bad, and I can see some people really liking it) But for instance, the mayo on the rice bowl got too rich and heavy really quick(greasy almost?) or how salty the soup is. (Again I know it’s all personal preference) Also parking isn’t the easiest to find around since there’s many restaurants but all street parking. Anyways I’m still excited to come back for more but maybe I’ll remember to ask for less sodium next time lol

Google
9/23 still great! Excellent service and even though there are lots of people, you do not feel rushed. The vegetable ramen was better than I remembered. We also really liked the vegetable sushi roll and the cucumber and avocado salad. The cocktail was unusual and tasty if a little sweet for me. I can't wait to go back!

Google
One of the best tasting Ramen I’ve tried. The broth is filed with flavor, the noodles have a great texture and cooked to a good point where they aren’t soggy or hard and the pork and egg were perfect.

Google
This review is based on the Cedar Hills location, but I assume the recipe is the same across locations and that’s what I’m reviewing. Not the traditional ramen flavor I was looking for. Apparently if you want it to taste like legit soul comforting ramen you need to ask them to leave out the mayu. The broth and meat both had a smokey taste to it. The meat pieces were not your traditionally rolled chashu meat either. It was just sliced pieces of meat that were tough and not enough fat. I swear they put the meat in a smoker by the way it tasted. Which is fine I guess if you’re looking for an American twist on ramen… The egg dissolved in my soup. No creamy yolk… after just breaking apart my egg in half and lightly stirring my bowl was enough to make the egg white almost completely disappear. I was also given my check when my sake bottle was still 3/4 full. It felt rushed even though there were three tables open around us and it was only 7pm.

Google
We stopped into Boxer late on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately and pretty excited to try the place. Our server was prompt and the food was served quickly. We ordered the Ahi Poke Bowl and the Spicy Red Miso. Both meals were flavorful. The miso had something about it that was a bit overpowering, the noodles were excellent, but overall a bit disappointing. Something to note when dining there, the only visible, available utensils were chopsticks. Overall, we might stop in again in the future. We were actually disappointed we hadn't tried the Chicken Karaage, over the Miso.

Google
Fun place on 23rd. We got the ramen, potstickers and chicken karaage. The potstickers were fried and very crispy. They also came with a tasty sauce. The karaage was a bit too salty, but the flavor and texture was excellent. However, the ramen was ok. The egg was a little over cooked and the pork belly was a bit tough.

Alex W.

Yelp
Atmosphere: Loved the atmosphere. Had an upscale modern feel, while staying casual enough Food: Food was excellent. A bit unique variations of ramen that really hit the spot Price: Not the cheapest ramen around but it's reasonable enough Service: Very good service Parking: Not the easiest spot to find street parking but there is some usually available

Katherine W.

Yelp
My favorite ramen. Service is always fast, friendly, and food is delish. Restaurant is clean and inviting. Was surprised that the reviews weren't better. I always get the spicy miso. It's super flavorful and the pork belly is butter! Melts in your mouth. Tots are some of the best I've ever had! Add the pork belly for an extra texture and salty bits. Drinks are stiff and delish.

Gina S.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the ramen we tried. The menu is pretty small, but being new to ramen the limited choices were kind of comforting. There are options with meat and without. Ambience was stylish but comfortable. In warm weather, they have a wall that opens to the street. The neighborhood is pretty neat.

Marcus S.

Yelp
Boxer Ramen was having a Yelp check in so while in town it was added to the list of places to hit. It was cooling down outside so a perfect time to warm up with some Ramen. To start, got some fried chicken bites which were good and hot and came with an aioli kind of sauce. For main bowl, got the Tonkatsu shio Ramen - House made pork broth, soft poached egg, pork belly, scallions, and mayu which is like an oil. It is the number one menu item here. It hit the spot but not the best tonkatsu I've had, but a solid bowl of ramen. A nice amount of pork belly, but the noodles didn't feel filling. split a bottle of Mio sake which was very good. Service was decent with a combo of wait staff, hostess and busser all interacting with our table and asking about the meal or add ons. Solid enough ramen spot.

Kim G.

Yelp
Had the spicy ramen, without the egg, and while the noodles were good and had a nice chew, the broth was way too salty for me. I basically took the noodles out and ate them with as little broth as possible. The potstickers were good. They give you five per order. They were large and definitely had more flavor than most Japanese goyza have. Friends ordered the tots with the waving bonita and I was super happy they shared them! It was a very unique dish and I enjoyed them. Small parking lot and if you have car karma, you can get a spot. Otherwise park on NW 23rd or a side street.

Yelp
I went in late on a Sunday, the service was a 10/10. Honestly thank you for your hospitality. It really goes such a long way to make an incredible restaurant experience. Host person was so kind and helpful. I got takeout and chose the Cucumber & Avocado Sunomono as a starter. I couldn't pick a ramen so the host told me I could do half Spicy Red Miso broth and half Tonkatsu Shio broth for my ramen. So good. I will definitely be returning. Next time to dine in because the decor was just too cool!

Joshua L.

Yelp
We went early on a Sunday Evening so I was a little surprised that there wasn't a longer wait for a table. The staff were super friendly and the space is clean and modern. I'm always a little biased when there are live plant decor. We started with the Agedashi Tofu which I highly recommend. The tofu is light and fluffy while the batter remains crunchy despite being plated in a bowl of sauce. I will say the sauce is probably the highlight with the nice acidity from the ginger. My wife had the Tonkatsu Ramen, but I wanted something a little spicier so the waitress offered to mix half the Tonkatsu broth with the Gochujang broth. The ramen is a substantial portion and they don't really stinge on the topping either. Like most Ramen though, the broth is really the highlight. A lot of depth and umami and I personally really enjoyed the richness and spiciness of the gochujang broth. I would've like some kind of acidity to cut through the heaviness of the broth and the pork. This is perfect on a cool evening out, definitely recommend.

Yelp
We came in at 5:15 on Tuesday night. We beat the rush of people-we were seated instantly, and had all of our food and drinks within 20 minutes. They had beautiful dish ware for everything we enjoyed, and were playing Outkast which we loved. We ordered: The Garlic Chili Edamame-these were sticky and sweet. Messy, but a tasty way to start our food. The Chicken Karaage-very peppery and crispy fried chicken, served with a lemon aeoli. They nailed this. Koshu Margarita-this margarita was both beautiful to look at and drink. Had there been no time constraint on our end, I would have ordered another. The yuzu really shines and the togarashi rim was a great flavor contrast. Shrimp Tempura Sushi-this was creamy, crunchy, and chewy all at once. This was both filling and refreshing. This paired well with the margarita! We loved the food, decor and the service. We would come again!

Dennis C.

Yelp
I was able to come here and get seated at the bar during the dinner rush. I ordered the Tonkotsu Shio and from the moment it was placed down in front of me I knew it would be absolutely delicious. Everything from the broth to the texture of the crispy pork belly made this an unforgettable ramen dish in my book. The portion was just right! The staff was very friendly and my food came out really quick. Be advised that even though sushi is featured here on yelp they no longer serve it. They do have a good selection of entrées and side dishes but if your have the ramen I Think you'll be more than satisfied. Im not from the area but the restaurant itself is in a beautiful neighborhood. Amazing food here. If I had more time in Portland I would have visited this restaurant again.

Melissa L.

Yelp
In the neighborhood during the lunch hour and decided I was too hungry not to grab a bite to eat. Walking up and down NW 23rd and this spot was open and so we stepped inside. We were quickly greeted and offered seating at the bar. Waters were quickly brought, but it was such a chilly morning, ordered a hot green tea as well. Really Spicy Tuna roll to start. The spiciness wasn't too much (and I'm wimpy when it comes to spice).Everything tasted fresh. Very good. Tonkotsu Shio ramen. Delicious. My favorite part was the crispy pork belly pieces. I hadn't had ramen with crispy pork belly and this was a great addition. I slurped down way more than I expected. Left feeling warm and satiated. Mission accomplished.

Viviana B.

Yelp
The ramen was good, but certainly not worth the price. There's something like karaage? Not quite sure what they were trying to achieve there unless it was plain, unseasoned flavorless chicken nuggets. The gyoza was really really salty, it's actually inedible. The ambiance was okay, I think that the vibe was pretty weird. I think it was the owner or manager serving us and it was okay service, she was nice but the entire time she was mostly behind the bar talking bad about other workers with an employee. Of course she's entitled to her opinions, however there's a time and place for that. It's not professional and it does make people uncomfortable, shouldn't have to say that in the first place though. Not worth my money whatsoever.

Gloria T.

Yelp
The service is superb. The ambiance is clean, light color, and modern. There are plenty of seats. There is no outdoor seats. There is a good selection of appetizers and sushi rolls on the menu aside from ramen. (A bit pricey for the portions) The ramen and broth were tasty. They have their own twist to the pork - it's like a small piece of thick bacon (millionaire bacon) and there are bacon bits in the ramen.

Savannah B.

Yelp
Stopped by here last night and omg. I died and went to heaven. The ramen is hands down the best ramen I've ever had. I got the curry ramen and it was AMAZING, so flavorful and the portions are very generous. The pasta was perfectly cooked, just a little Al dente & tasted so fresh. My husband got the tonkotsu ramen and it was also just a flavor bomb. Our bartender kimber was so friendly, and accommodating and actually suggested the ramen we both got definitely will return just for her amazing service. The chicken karaage appetizer was also just a killer, it was so moist & not overly breaded, unfortunately it was so good we didn't get a photo The restaurant is so Portland and I love it. It has so many plants and is just such a Portland feel, down to earth, welcoming & cozy. I will definitely make This a staple every time I'm in town.

Kristi P.

Yelp
They've moved to the other side of NW 23rd. It's a nice, modern space with live plants. There was a little bit of a wait when we got there, so they took our number down and said they would call us. They do literally call you--not text, so be on the lookout. It seems like if you don't answer, they'll move to the next in line. The restaurant was a bit cold temperature-wise. Tonkatsu shio: the broth had a great depth of flavor, which seeped into the thin noodles. The char siu had a smokiness that I enjoyed, and the crispy pork belly bits added a nice texture to the bowl. I would prefer the egg be more cooked. The bowl itself seemed alarmingly small, but I was surprised to find myself satisfied. Overall, it was a good bowl of ramen. Our waiter was friendly. They take electronic payment at the table, which is fast and efficient. They don't accept cash.

Thuy P.

Yelp
small but quality selection of sake! both vegan options for ramen- the creamy curry and mushroom ramen are yum yum. we quite enjoyed it and even finished our broths. i would say the curry ramen could use a tad more salt. my ideal salt level would be somewhere between the curry ramen and the mushroom ramen so i actually liked eating them together/mixed XD workers are nice and attentive. the restaurant is also clean and well lit, usually not so busy so you have some space to enjoy your meal away from other guests. strict no dogs indoors policy, wish they had outdoor seating so i can still come here with my dog.

Davida M.

Yelp
Boxer had always been a long time favorite but locations closing down throughout the pandemic, I haven't made it over. Mostly because as most know, parking on 23rd is awful and no existent. If you do happen to find a spot, I suggest you get the spicy miso ramen and chicken karaage. Unfortunately, they were out that day due to delivery issues so I got the honey walnut shrimp instead which was a delicious substitute. The menu has expanded during the pandemic and now includes sushi but I haven't tried it yet. The revamp and overall vibe at this location feels different than others I've visited. The staff were friendly and my food was out pretty quick. It's not a cheap lunch by any means but a really great "treat your self" especially on a cold and rainy day.

Peggy L.

Yelp
I'm giving Boxer Ramen 3 stars for the quality of the food - the service and ambiance were 5 stars! We ordered the Tonkatsu shio ramen and it came with little bacon bits that were on its own salty, and with the pork and ramen and broth, overly salty in my opinion. I love an agedashi tofu done right but the breading, and the inside of the tofu wasn't seasoned and the sauce didn't really taste that authentic. All in all it was a relaxing and enjoyable lunch. I may come back if I'm in the area but I am not purposely driving back here for ramen.

Heather R.

Yelp
I visited Boxer Ramen for the first time last recently. I love a good bowl of ramen just about any day so I was excited to try this restaurant out. The restaurant was very nice inside and the service was great. Since I'm into spiciness, I ordered the Spicy Red Miso Ramen. The ramen was ready quickly. First, I loved how they gave multiple pieces of pork belly. Next, the egg was super tasty and the noodles were too. The broth had a nice little kick to it and the flavor was delightful. Overall, I recommend visiting this restaurant.

Theresa W.

Yelp
If you are looking for a tradition ramen, you will be disappointed! The cha shu tastes more like a ham. They do have crispy pork belly one in the ramen but it's in a little tiny cubes! If you wanna to try more of American infused dishes then you'll like this place. Yuzu Punch is good. Tots are okay for me but my bf likes it! We think they should totally name the totes dish " toteskoyaki." Anyway, I prefer traditional Japanese ramen. So it's a 3/5 star place for me.

Taelyn W.

Yelp
This review is based on the Cedar Hills location, but I assume the recipe is the same across locations and that's what I'm reviewing. Which is fine I guess if you're looking for an American twist on ramen... the serving size is also small considering the price. You can get a bowl almost double this size at any other ramen place on the west side. The egg dissolved in my soup. No creamy yolk... after just breaking apart my egg in half and lightly stirring my bowl was enough to make the egg white almost completely disappear. I was also given my check when my sake bottle was still 3/4 full. It felt rushed even though there were three tables open around us and it was only 7pm. The service was fine though, and at least I got 10% off my one ramen item..............

Nicole L.

Yelp
Doordash'd the tonkotsu ramen and tots. Ramen is okay average, I do appreciate the amount of green onions and good noodles. Tots are always yummy. Broth is good but a bit too salty (for me at least) I'm not a HUGE fan of the pork belly or the chashu :-/ is okay! Probs won't order again but it's not bad ramen

Maya O.

Yelp
Absolute favorite ramen place. I haven't gone to Japan, but nowhere I've been in the US tops any Boxer location. I live in the Bay Area now, and can't find ramen with the same spice level and quality. Every time I visit, I order several spicy miso bowls and freeze them to take back!

Pauline T.

Yelp
Loved the spicy miso ramen!! Comes with a good amount of meat and the soup is very flavorful. I've been here before and it doesn't disappoint. Parking is very limited in the lot and you're better off getting street parking. But be wary that dinner time, it's difficult to find parking. The food quality was great and the prices were very typical. Trustworthy and I'll definitely be back again.

Dookie G.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of ramen. I try and go here as much as I can. They have weird hours so I'm not sure when they are open but when they are it's good!

Sydney L.

Yelp
One lunch break, I visited Boxer Ramen with a group of coworkers. The convenience and speed were ideal for our party of eight. The server was friendly and attentive, ensuring our experience went smoothly. Although the food arrived promptly, I found that it lacked the distinct flavor I was seeking. While I wouldn't mind returning, Boxer Ramen doesn't top my list of preferred dining choices.

Andrew P.

Yelp
The spicy Ramen is just delicious , the portion is just right . The pork belly in the ramen is perfect I also tried the sushi and it was great accompaniment I was sweat inducing spice but boy did I enjoy it

Dr. T.

Yelp
Great place! Great food! And friendly service! I loved the seaweed so much I would #doordash it. Thank you for making delicious vegetarian options. I will be back!

Brett M.

Yelp
This establishment has gone downhill over the years. A couple years ago I would have given Boxer a 5 star review. Their prices have gotten out of control and the quality is just not worth the price. The food does not feel fresh and the service was lacking.

Chris L.

Yelp
Was in the area and we love ramen, so decided to stop in for an early dinner. We tried the tonkatsu ramen, which was ok (just not much pizzazz) and the spicy red miso (it was good...just on the cusp of too spicy, but I enjoyed it). Both had pork belly (I ate it, but I'm not a big fan due to the fat) and said it also had chashu but I'm not sure where that was. Mine had an egg yolk and no seaweed. We also had the potstickers which were maybe the best we've ever had anywhere. Our waitress was really friendly and the restaurant was clean. I'd give it 3.5 stars. A decent ramen place, but my heart is with Ramen Ryoma.

Shelly S.

Yelp
I'm shocked this place has the gall to call this ramen. When I saw it had No seaweed, no bamboo shoots, no fish cake, no butter corn, no wood ear mushrooms I figured they must be putting a lot of faith in that broth. -The broth tastes like it's made with a miso paste blend and oils. It's extremely bland. The ramen comes with bacon bits not pork belly, green onion chasu pork, and noodles.... No seaweed, no bamboo shoots, no fish cake, no butter corn, no wood ear mushroom. Piss poor effort.

Rachel G.

Yelp
The new boxer location on NW 23rd is amazing!! The ambiance and service is great and the ramen was amazing. The food came out super quickly and both were so yummy. Perfect portion size and meal option for a rainy day!! They were super generous with the chashu in the spicy miso ramen

Alvin H.

Yelp
Great food, good service. Been there twice great experience both times. The Japanese Kargaae (Fried Chicken) and the Chrysanthemum Leaves were fantastic.

Enrique Y.

Yelp
HAS TO BE THE BEST RAMEN IVE EVER HAD. Definitely a must try it super cozy inside but hip. Noodles are just perfection and the broth just nostalgia. Was definitely worth the drive from SF to try this spot. And will definitely come back before heading back down to Cali. Get the spicy miso the right amount of spice and beautiful tender pork belly. Staff was super nice too! Such amazing bowls of Ramen. The best I've had so far!

Julie L.

Yelp
Excellent food and service . Highly recommend this restaurant. Ambiance was perfect for a night out ! Will definitely be coming back very soon .

Jocelyn B.

Yelp
Okay, I wish I could give this place a better rating because the staff was really nice, and appreciated the hip hop being played. It was my first time having ramen so also take that into consideration when reading my review. I convinced my husband to stop here for lunch before stopping at Salt & Straw although he was hesitant (he isn't a bit ramen fan). I got the spicy red miso and my husband got the tonkotsu-shio. The spicy red miso was pretty spicy. Again, it might just be me not liking ramen but I wasn't satisfied by the end of the meal. The place is pretty small, we had no trouble finding a spot at the bar since it was just us two but I would see bigger parties having to wait. If I could rate this place based on the ambiance and the service I'd give it 5 stars for sure. If you are a ramen fan, I'd say try this place out, you might end up liking it.

Darrah C.

Yelp
Boxer has a great mix of dishes on their menu. Great for those that still want some umami flavors without ordering ramen. I ordered the Yuzu Lychee Punch for a beverage, which was amazing. I loved the citrus notes in it. The Tonkotsu Shio was good. It wasn't amazing but still pretty good. The real star of the show was the Honey Walnut Shrimp. Oooooh boy. Huge shrimp sizes and the flavor combo was delicious. Contrary to my picture, the dish comes with 5 (we just ate a few shrimps before taking a picture ). I would come back solely for the Honey Walnut Shrimp tbh.

Maddie O.

Yelp
Boxer is one of my favorite spots not only for the delicious ramen, sushi and craft cocktails but for the even better service!!

Nico B.

Yelp
Countless bowls of slurpable ramen can be found throughout Portland, but Boxer Ramen rates so highly among my favorites, I jump at the chance to visit when I can. Perhaps luck was on our side, but 6PM on a Thursday seemed like the ideal time to visit. My partner and I found convenient parking, and we didn't have to wait for a table. Our server was friendly and accommodating, offering several suggestions that improved our dining experience. I ordered the Wakame salad, followed by the Tonkotsu Shio ramen. The delicious salad was so light and fresh, I could happily eat it every day for the rest of my life. But the starred attraction for the evening was the Tonkotsu Shio, a housemade pork broth served with a soft poached egg, pork belly and scallions. The milky pork broth glistened under a cloud of steam, offering a rich and inviting aroma. I was compelled to dive right in! It wasn't overly fatty or salty, and the creamy soft egg and mayu transported the flavor to to the next level. The noodles were prepared just to my liking; evenly cooked with a subtle firmness. I want the noodles to absorb the flavor, but not become a starchy mess in the bottom of my bowl. Bravo for getting it just right! Boxer has a modern vibe, accentuated by minimalist, colorful drawings throughout the space. The open kitchen enhances the dining experience with the lively theatrics of their culinary hustle and bustle. Everything is about the ramen here, down to the sights, sounds and exceptional flavors.

Jada A.

Yelp
Amazing, favorite ramen place in Portland, never ever have been disappointed. Though i was sad when the Alberta location closed, but the travel is sooooo worth it! Trust me you won't be disappointed!! Curry Ramen is my photo attached.

Joey A.

Yelp
Friendly staff, amazing .. I mean, the best ramen I've ever had. Never disappointed. Drinks are made with love. I enjoyed the atmosphere and mood lighting

Rachel M.

Yelp
I can't believe this place is still open after the way it has treated it's employees with disrespect and forced them to work a ridiculous amount (60+ hours) of overtime. It's so toxic, much of the staff left at the same time because they were being treated so poorly. Super ashamed of the way the management at this spot has handled their business and staff, your money is better spent someplace else with more respect for their employees and better food.

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Got here since we traveled and were impressed by the view from the front of the restaurant. This place is small but really cozy and clean. We ordered 2 ramen bowls and the food came out really fast. Staffs were friendly and helpful when I asked which popular places to explore. I will be back here when I have a chance. Highly recommended!

Vicky C.

Yelp
@eatswithvick on Instagram: Really enjoyed our meal here, got the edamame and green beans to start and then the vegetable curry ramen & salmon avocado roll. The only reason I give four stars is because while the staff were really friendly, we felt so rushed while eating. We were asked what we wanted to order within minutes of sitting down and the waiter would come and ask for an update a bit too frequently when we said we needed more time. There were multiple open tables and it was not busy so it wasn't like people we were waiting to get in. Would come back though, food was great

Marilyn N.

Yelp
I came here on a Wednesday evening and it was pretty packed inside. But there were available seats at the counter. This place is definitely less traditional than your typical Japanese ramen restaurant. I ordered the spicy red miso ramen and a side of okonomiyaki. My roommate got the tonkotsu ramen. The portions are on par with ramen joints. My ramen came with two thick slices of pork belly, chopped pieces of pork, a very soft boiled egg, and topped with black garlic oil and green onions. The noodles are cooked more al dente so that might not suit everyone. The broth was pretty good, but it was not spicy at all. The pork belly/bacon was soft and tasty. A solid 4/5 for me. My roommate did not like the black garlic oil in her ramen, perhaps that should be optional. The tatter tots were interesting to eat, but my roommate and I thought it was okay. The service was good and attentive. Overall, it's not too shabby of a ramen place.

Kristine P.

Yelp
There was once a time when I would have given this place 5 stars, pre-pandemic and before they opened on NW 23rd. It seems the quality of ramen has gone down and or changed the recipe for their vegetable curry ramen. Also, I think it's poor business practices you can't call them or place a to-go order w/out having to physically go into the restaurant. Sadly, we won't be going back.

Tierra H.

Yelp
The only good thing about this place was our waiter was amazing! The ramen was a tomato based which I never had before but I did not like it. It lacked flavor so I asked for the miso broth to add which have it some flavor. The edamame is served cold which was a curveball. It would have been fantastic if served hot. Not a fan of this place

Nassir I.

Yelp
Ordered the "Tonkotsu Shio", which sounds like two ramen soups rolled into one and ends up being neither. This bowl comes with chashu that looks and tastes like thick-cut bacon, and then also a giant pile of "crispy pork belly" that looks and tastes like big ol' bacon bits. So you taste bacon, chased down with far far too much garlic oil and black pepper. Why combine two soups into one and then make it impossible to taste either? The rest of the execution was good; the soup came very hot, the noodles were toothsome, the egg done perfectly. It just lacks conviction.

Tod G.

Yelp
No Ramen for you!!!, if you can't grasp the concept here. There are only 20 seats in the NW location. This means you wait outside for your turn to get seated, know what your ordering before you sit, eat your meal and get out! Extra points if you stay for less than 30 minutes. Don't panic, you'll take home leftovers every time. Don't bring your kids or your whole extended family. If that's what you need... get the takeout. The servers need to turn tables so that others can enjoy this Portland TREASURE.

Yelp
great location & waitstaff. the edamame garlic sesame sauce was a great tasty surprise- better than the shiitake ramen and sushi. the former lukewarm, odd noodle choice, muddled flavours. the latter spicy tuna & salmon disturbingly fishy (sushi, i know, but still not cool).

Yelp
I've been goin to Boxer for years and am so happy about their new location! Firstly the food.....my goodness it's delicious. Boxer does Ramen in a uniquely flavorful way. I recommend the "Tonkotsu" it's the thing that got me hooked on boxer in the first place. The potstickers abs sushi is also really good!! The service is ALWAYS A1, I had the pleasure of meeting Maryum who is the manager. The diverse staff makes me feel welcome, it's always clean n beautiful inside.
