I’ve visited Boxers in Manhattan on Sundays and Mondays, and it’s always a great experience! Mondays are especially fun because they have Happy Hour all night, which makes it the perfect spot to hang out. The atmosphere is amazing, the crowd is super friendly, and the bartender is awesome — always upbeat and welcoming. Definitely one of my favorite gay bars in the city! 🌟🍻

I went there for karaoke on Tuesday night it starts at 9pm I had great time performing Also I had great handsome bartender who was nice to me . I had dinner there I love their buffalo wings it was kinda dead on Tuesday crowd wise but might b cause snowstorm

I’m from New York and been going for yearsss so trust me! Best for happy hour to pregame/save money (it ends at 9pm) Good for drag race viewings if you’re into that. You want a wide array of music across different genres and a mixed crowd? Friday nights is for you! You want to feel Latino for the night? Saturday nights is for you! (85% of the music is Latino so after awhile it’s like okay let’s switch it up in between) Sunday nights is okay and chill 🤷🏻

Very disappointing, xenophobic, and disrespectful experience. The female bouncer made the situation unnecessarily difficult by refusing to accept a valid international ID and a photo as identification. She screamed at us while we calmly tried to explain that our friend (who is clearly over 30) was of legal age to enter. Her behavior felt openly biased, seemingly based on our friend’s nationality. We never expected this place to feel so unsafe and demeaning. I strongly recommend avoiding it and speaking up when you are treated this poorly for no reason.

Late-night hangout vibes. All types of people just having a good time. No drama, just fun.

As a neighbor living in front of this bar I can say that this place hates us. They do not care that the guests scream in front of their bar at night every Friday and Saturday at 2 am, 3 am, 4 am…. Unbearable and disrespectful to the neighbors beyond belief. Only wishing you to close ASAP!!!

I’m a Chill kinda Guy, not to much into crowds, but every time I need a little Outing Boxers Chelsea on a Friday night is my Go To! Darius The bartender has Great Conversations and Can actually make really good Cocktails. The vibe is unmatched for a Friday Night. The Men be outside and the music keeps the dance floor packed. Definitely recommend!

I had such an amazing night out at Boxers NYC! If you’re looking for a spot with great drinks, fun music, and an overall fantastic atmosphere, this is the place to be. Special shoutout to Darius, hands down the best bartender I’ve ever had! Not only did he jump in and help my friend who almost slipped, but he also made incredible drinks and brought so much good energy all night. Total vibe! Can’t wait to come back, grab my photo, and do it all again. Seriously, if you’re looking for a good time in NYC, you have to come here!

Some of my friends were visiting from out of town and I met them here for drinks. I had never been to Boxers before, and as with any new spot I was looking forward to discovering it as well as catching up with my friends. Located in Chelsea with another spot in Hell's Kitchen, Boxers is a super large spot - much larger than I had expected. Upon entry I was immediately in the main bar area with super high ceilings, high top tables scattered throughout the floor, some roped off spaces for private parties, and the main bar to the right. This is technically a sports bar so they do have some games playing on the TVs, though it's drowned out by the loud music that's pumping (all bops of course). I was there on a Sunday late afternoon so it wasn't that crowded, though I can see this place getting packed (and loud) as it was beginning to fill up as I was leaving. They had a 2 for 1 drink special while we were there; upon ordering a drink we were each given a card to use as a voucher for a second drink. I decided to get a rum and coke and a vodka cranberry - both fine, nothing too noteworthy but I didn't exactly get out-of-the-box drinks. Bartenders were super friendly, plus the fact they were shirtless and in tight shorts didn't hurt. Overall, I had a good time at Boxers - the acoustics/aesthetics aren't really my speed, but the great service and vibes make for a good time. I'm not running back but would be totally open to returning if given the opportunity.

Cheap liquor. Bartenders will ignore a line to pour drinks for they friends Train your staff on customer service.

I've been coming to this place for 12 years. I love all the people here, but Francisco is the worse bartender ever! He's slow and rude to people who's not into his circle. I love all the good vibes everyone gives off otherwise him.

Oh my God! This place is Gay Heaven. I love coming to Boxers for the drinks and the eye candy bartenders. (Tony is the chillest and sexiest one there!) The vibe is always on point and the drinks are always strong and necessary. One of my favorite things about Boxers is the "Rupaul's Drag Race" watching parties: the commentary and sense of community always fills my heart.

I've come here tonight and prior times with co-workers and friends and one thing that stood every time was that there were NO BLACK BARTENDERS. Sure they have a Black bar back and a Black person doing security, but other than that, Black people are nowhere to be found. It's like they use a Pantone chart during the hiring process. No shade, but slight shade. And the bartenders are hired on perceived looks, because very few can make drinks properly or walk and chew bubblegum at the same time. This is a place to go because the options for good bars has shrank in the past 10 years, honestly. Lastly, the brick oven pizza is okay.

The Bartender Tony took my card to run a tab. He put my card in his waist band. I'm thinking ok that's his process. But when it was time to close out TONY lost my card. But then tries to make it my fault saying he never started a tab for me. I'm ok with losing the card. But don't make this my fault. Boxera has always been sketchy when it comes to professionalism. But enough already. Do better. Have a management presence. Because this behavior is unacceptable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BOXERS CHELSEA. it's is an UNSAFE place for us professional gays!

Good happy hour, nice bartenders, big space, fairly clean. Not really our vibe, but we had 2 HH drinks each and then moved on.

Do not recommend! I went on a weekend, paid a cover charge to get in which wouldn't be a problem if the overall service wasn't horrible, overpriced watered down drinks, the music is so random and outdated. Bartenders are not welcoming and it feels as if you are bothering them when ordering a drink. I'm surprised boxers in general has lasted this long. There are so many other places that are friendlier, affordable, and with better vibes.

Shirtless guys serving drinks can never be a bad deal. But when you wait for that drink those beaming pecs begin to sag. Boxers was crowded and fun but seemed short staffed. A few more shirtless guys would certainly improve my rating and hopefully get my drinks faster. There is a sports theme so it's not too queeny guys here at least on the surface.

Fun Fun Fun!! I came here during happy hour on a Friday. They have a 2 for 1 special which is GREAT. The drinks were strong. The bartenders are shirtless. They literally have on boxers. They were very attentive and one of them remembered my drink each time I came to the counter. Loved that. I also appreciated the designated section at the bar to order drinks from. Thats a +++. My girlfriends and I were the only females in the building lol. BUT it was so much fun. The music was good. The vibes were good. Everyone was in there own world. It wasnt ridiculously packed which was nice. We didnt have to pay to get in, so that was good. They do ID before you make it through the door. Overall, cant wait to go back.

Seems like a cool place, but my fiance's license AND credit card was seemingly withheld and kept by the bartender for no reason. Tried calling but no one answers, and they don't respond to emails. Bummer that a place that could be so cool makes you feel unsafe in these times.

There's a reason you can't review this bar on Facebook. Your Wednesday night bartender has ZERO personality and charges whatever he wants depending on the person. My husband was charged $8 for a drink and I was charged $20 for one. As someone who works in the service industry business I still tipped as annoyed as I was but I will never step foot into this bar again. You people need to do better. Avoid this bar! I'll never go back.

This review is NOT about the Chelsea location. In fact, the Chelsea location bartenders are always welcoming and courteous. However, the NEW BOXERS-HK at 735 9th Ave is complete TRASH! The HELLS KITCHEN LOCATION bartenders are rude, nasty, and lack customer service. They don't even say "hello" when interacting with them, and instead just throw an iPad in your face to pay and will look at you in an intimidating stare to demand leaving them a tip. Oh and they don't take cash, just cards. If you decide to go to Boxers, the CHELSEA LOCATION is worth checking out. The HELLS KITCHEN LOCATION IS GARBAGE. DO NOT GO TO THE NEW HELLS KITCHEN LOCATION!!!

The overall vibe of the bar was chill and I can see that it would turn into a blast at night. The servers were friendly, funny, but ours was not very attentive. *Do not* get the Mojito. It tasted like straight mint green toothpaste. There were no mint leaves, so I'm guessing they used a mint sweetener or something, absolutely awful. I know NYC is expensive, but the bill seemed higher than usual - they do add an 18% gratuity even for a party of two.

Used to like this place pre-covid but now they are just plain greedy. I went with a friend for HH only to find out that it ended at 7pm vs 8pm per the internet. So we ordered 2 draft beers (Stella) and a small cheese pizza. When the bill came it was for $34! Annoyed I left a $5 tip and grabbed a nearby table to wait for the pizza. I tipped the pizza guy another $2. I later found out that the original tab - which was not itemized - already included an 18% tip. So for two semi-stale beers and the NY equivalent of 2 slices of pizza, we paid $41 which is a complete ripoff! The service is lousy, at least 30% of the customers were women, and the prices are a scam! So if you are a gay customer who enjoys frequenting gay bars, stay away from this one. I would highly recommend REBAR in Chelsea or one of the many in Hell's Kitchen such as INDUSTRY.

Not a bad spot over all. But nothing to write home about Bartenders r overworked??? And can be meh ... Not that nice to girls. Happy hour drinks r ok. But weak mostly. Food is just ok for bar food. Got the $2 tacos on a Tuesday, but they were cold and flavourless. At least the kitchen staff was pleasant. It's fine to come and listen to good music and see everyone. But not a must do.

Terrible "sports" bar. Walked in tonight for Monday Night Football, and only 1 television had the game on, despite the NY Giants playing the Philadelphia Eagles in a crucial game, not to mention it being Eli's return. There was a drag show going on that seemed to take precedence over all else going on there tonight; which was probably why the bar itself was empty. You cannot be a sports bar, gay or otherwise, and not promote/emphasize sports, especially NYC sports teams. There's plenty of gay bars, but not a lot of actual gay-sport bars, and Boxers isn't one either. Bottom Line: Skip it & walk a few blocks to Gym Bar on 8th Ave if you're trying to catch an actual game.

Came here after dinner with a group of friends at their recommendation. The bar looks nice and welcoming as you enter. It's certainly not the case when you wait for your drinks. The bartenders are snobby and take their time serving you. I waited for 10 minutes and no one even made eye contact with me. No beers or alcohol is worth me waiting that long considering their are tons of other bars. I am disappointed with the customer service. Totally deplorable! Do your self a favor and skip this place. Totally not worth your money/time and they are not getting a dime of my money! If there was zero stars, this place would deserve that honor.

I couldn't believe the bill when I got it $71 for 4 watered down drinks and a tiny portion of guacamole and ch. I almost fell over my chair I will definitely never be going back to this establishment.

"Boxers, the nonsports bar" The only thing that makes this place a sports bar is the bartenders are shirtless and the wear boxer shorts. Sometimes they do pull-ups instead of making drinks for customers that want to take pics. Do not get me wrong because I am not hating (if you got it, flaunt it). While that is not a bad thing, it is kind of annoying when the bar is packed and people are waiting to buy drinks. The place has a decent BOGO happy hour special and the drinks are typical NYC lounge prices. Plus, Boxers now sells pizzas. Although I have not tried them, they do smell wonderful. I tend to prefer this location over the one in Hell's Kitchen because it does have an outdoor area in the back for smokers. Plus, it is a nice escape when the bar is super packed. I do not think that you can smoke on the rooftop at the Hell's Kitchen location. More or less this is a typical chelsea bar/lounge.

This place is always exciting to visit. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the energy of New York, not just filled with gay people, it's very mixed with a after work crowd of all ages and races. You know it's a good bar when your waiting on a crowded line patiently before 8pm on a week day. Cute bartenders of course but more importantly, they give good service and strong drinks, not cheap but come at happy hour and you'll have better luck.

We have not been back to Boxers since the reopening and we were having a lovely time until the bill came... it was clearly too high... well after requesting an itemized bill ... (why should I have to ASK for an itemized bill?) we were informed that they add an 18 % gratuity without mentioning it ... ever) that and they overcharged us $1.00 on the posted price of the calamari... it's the principle!) I should mention that we were a 'A Party of Two' ... not Six or Eight... when a gratuity added to a bill might be expected. They are clearly expecting the slightly drunk patron to tip on top of this pre-determined gratuity... a rip off. Sorry to say... avoid this place.

Fun times! So honestly we stopped in here because after doing some day drinking I needed to find a bathroom ASAP. He happened to walk by this bar when we were on a search for a bar to get a drink and relieve ourselves. It was around 4 pm so it was a mixture of people just getting off work and tourists. The bartenders were very friendly and offered us free drinks with the purchase of one drink. We had a great conversation with them and a few people sitting next to us at the bar. Drinks were strong and the bathroom was clean. After a few drinks we decided to leave as the bar was getting very busy.

This place is a combination of all the great things of Chelsea - great atmosphere, great people, and great experiences. Highly recommend!

A great gay bar for hanging out with friends-- especially if it's in the late afternoon or early evening. However, be warned that Boxers can get really crowded later in the evening-- in fact, so crowded that it becomes difficult to maneuver around the club and have conversations with your friends... or, even worse, it becomes extremely difficult to flag down a bartender to order a drink! IMHO, drink prices are steep for what you get unless you visit Boxers during Happy Hour. Then, drinks are 2 for 1, which isn't so bad. On the other hand, Boxers does have darts, which is one of my favorite bar games... but I'd rather have darts AND bargain drinks :)

We went to Boxers after the NYC marathon to start off our celebrations! They had a large area in the back that was very accommodating for our large group of 15! The server in the back was able to get all of our food and drink orders without a issue. Drinks were buy one get one free which was a plus! You did have to remind the bartenders because they would not give you the card unless you asked for it! The bartenders were shirtless and in shape if your looking for that! We certainly had a blast!

Customer service is horrible!! I waited 30 mins for a drink and then was told that happy hour drink prices were over and I had to pay regular price. One bar tender told me they did not have anymore Stella artois beer and when I went to the other end of the Bar, they had it. Terrible customer service!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME HERE

I came to Boxers expecting to leave with a fun and exciting experience tempting me to come back . However , I left not wanting to EVER step foot back into this establishment! It was beyond crowded and chaotic but most disturbing was the face that there was an individual who was standing behind bar with a dog . It was disgusting . The bartenders were kissing the dog I felt like I was at a petting zoo ! It's unsanitary definitely GROSS!

A special thank you to the manager that called me back after I called and left a vm about me leaving something behind at the bar after I left. Not only did he call me back with in 5 minutes of leaving it he already had went looking for the item and told me he will hold it for me to pick up the next day! AMAZING AND A CUSTOMER FOR THE REST OF MY GAY LIFE!!! Thank you and I highly recommend this place to anyone! P.s. I brought a heterosexual female to this bar tonight for her first time and she had a fabulous time not discriminated against in anyway shape or form and she will be back alone or with us again

This location not only has outstanding customer service, but they also treat every single person as a if they are their VIP customer. Coming to boxers for 4 years, I've never had one bad experience. Shout out to JP, Tom, Andrea, Brian, Mark and even Barbara for being my favorite in all of NYC. Come to Boxers Chelsea, promise you won't be disappointed.

I always try to be fair in these reviews and I normally like this place but this Saturday night I visited and I think I experienced the worst 2 bartenders I have ever seen.. One seemed clueless and the other couldn't even make the correct drink... A bartender friend of mine once said that the trick of bartending is to make it look like you're not busy when you are busy but these two look panicked... And this was during happy hour... and on top of it all there was a whole group of women who were nightmarishly drunk and made the whole place unpleasant. Normally not a bad place but not tonight.

Cute but laid back gay sports bar! Met some friends on our first night in town, good wings, good happy hour and friendly staff! Will definitely visit again when in NYC.

Hot shirtless beefcakes serving drinks is always cool. They also have a 2 for 1 drink deal before 9pm, 7 days a week which is great. Music wasn't the best though so they lose a star

I dont go out much, nor to any bars/gay bars, just cause I'm lazy, haha. But I went out, last time I was here was years ago when it first opened. After that experience I didnt go, so I decided to give it another try. I bar hopped 3 times before coming here, so I was 3 drinks in, Heres my experience..... ID of course at the front bar, you need to be stamped, which made it feel like I was at disney land, its gonna be a corny ride, but the place was busy surprising around a thursday 10:30ish. It sucks where they put the kitchen, cause that really needs to be another bar there, you cant really find a spot to find a bartender. only at their one bar. Now the bartenders, I remember being always new to bartending and just muscular, cute not so much. Their posters they PR are not their bartenders, at all. haha. I asked for a Bluepoint on draft, I gave him a 10 dollar bill, I got a dollar back. So the BEER ON DRAFT was $9? Where in NYC is their a $9 dollar Bluepoint DRAFT BEER? Rip off. I was in shocked, that I just pushed back the dollar as his TIP, sometimes I tip 2 dollars per beer. Well not tonight. I was super thrown off. The only thing that was funny was some drunk people at Beer Pong and dancing horribly. Was entertaining to watch. I left very quickly. Nothing much as changed, still a no for me.

Really like the place but for a sports bar and hat doesn't show every game is a bit disappointing and now I have to go to other bars on Sunday. Great staff though. Edit: now it's the 5 stars it deserves! Favorite sports bar.

This is a great spot to gather with a bunch of friends after work or a great way to start out on Friday or Saturday evenings. The bar is huge, the drinks are strong and the boys behind the bar aren't all that bad either. They have a pizza place, yep! A pizza place right smack dab in the middle of it... (Is smack dab even a word?) I mean, I guess it comes in handy when you have had one too many and need to put something in your stomach. They have pool tables and a outdoor area out back. They have good music playing and often have a DJ when I go who does take requests (along with a few extra bucks...)

they violated in here first off the bar service was atrocious is was so slow like it was slow before rush so after me n my girls first drink i went back to get us another round i stand in line because i'm TOLD that u stand between the two poles and they serve a person at a time apparently not the rule and a older woman step in front of me and i say excuse me i was here first she gon b like aight n step back the gentleman in fort of me still ordering waiting for his drinks so i'm waiting on my phone she gon cut back in front of me and "attempt" ordering i approach her and say excuse me i'm still in line she gone say i gave u a chance ur on ur phone wel u haven't even got ur order taken bc they still serving this dude but aight i told her ima let it rock then she end up at a table across from. me i explain to her ian kno multiple ppl could order at once and if i offended her i'm sorry but however she came off mad rude and she gonna proceed to yell n spit in my face calling me a bitch and telling me she owns this place (is she the owner?Imk) she really coulda got the work but ik how these places work the black ppl are the aggressors on every situation so i walk away sit down and her little friend goes n gets security once again be we are black so i tell him when he comes over ima close out my tab and leave and couldn't even get my free drink so while i'm up closing my tab this group of men sitting at the bar who she was talking to earlier were talking about how i smelled like weed and proceeded to call me slurs and stare at me calling me a nigger this n that. the bar staff did nothing even a gentleman next to me at the bar who heard everything apologized and was like this is messed up, also the security guard was very nice and helpful and understanding he was jus doing his job no one wanted any problems but they took it upon themselves to cause problems w the only two black women in there besides a staff member when all i did was tell her i didn't appreciate the disrespect so fuck this bar n yall supposed owner

Fun place but if your going to watch sports I don't recommend the place. Most people have no interest in Sports or any idea what's going on at the bar. Was watching sports on TV there recently and was turned off to put on Rupaul drag race! Sports bar?? I was right out the door!

Boxers Chelsea killed it on Halloween! They should have Dj's more often as JRoc (I believe that was the Dj) was great. Fabulust crowd of all types.. gay/straight/male/female. Most entertaining bartenders of any gay bars.. Fun NY experience for barhoppers when they create the right vibe.

I'm giving this a 5 star review because of the bartender. The one with long hair and speaks latin. He's super hot. Just sitting at the bar and enjoying his handsome face while drinking my cocktail was already perfect. If you read this, I want to take you home.

There are two locations in NYC and both are fun places to stop in and grab a drink. They often have a good happy hour special (2 for 1). The bartenders are pretty friendly and pride themselves on their appearance ;-)

Have to downgrade this for two reasons: 1) If you're not a sports bar, don't try to position yourself as one. Why would you give attitude to someone on a Saturday afternoon when they ask you to put on the most anticipated college football game of the season? 2) They charge the most for draft beer of any bar I've been to in the past few months. One Magic Hat pint was $8. I haven't paid more than $7 anywhere for a Magic Hat. I was just in the Meatpacking District on a Friday night the evening before and only paid $7. And on a dead Saturday afternoon you're charging $8 and it's not even 2 for 1? Please explain to me why I should pay more here than anywhere else. I don't get it. This place has really gone down hill.

I have visited the bar three times, and I regret to report that I am woefully disappointed. My first visit was a Saturday afternoon. There were two other patrons in the bar, and I found myself being completely ignored by the bartender. Also, the beer prices were steeper than necessary, particularly when realizing that it was a Saturday afternoon. The second visit was a weeknight around 9:00. The first bartender I ordered from was extremely inattentive -- I think it was the same bartender who was working during my first visit. The second bartender, short with light blond hair, was very friendly and seemed to know how a good bartender treats his customers. The third visit was a Saturday around 7:00. I decided to try a pizza, but the $20.00 credit card minimum -- which happens to violate most merchant agreements between credit card companies and bars -- turned me away. I can't understand why the seemingly state-of-art computer system in the bar couldn't allow me to use a tab at both the pizza counter and the bar. Certainly, the bar has an ATM, if you don't mind paying fees. Plus, stand-alone ATMs carry a risk of allowing account information to be pinched -- which has happened to me more than once. Simply put, it doesn't seem to be a prudent business decision to turn away what would have amounted to about a $50.00 bill simply because management doesn't want to pay two 1% merchant charges. The space is very nice and I really like the layout. However, Manhattan is close to over-saturation with gay bars, particularly in that part of town. Shirtless bartenders can be found at other bars, and those bartenders actually tend the bar and take care of the customers. Management would do well to re-examine its model at this establishment. Of course, this is just my opinion and maybe Boxers just isn't the hang-out for me.

Been here a couple times now for their great happy hour deal. 2 for 1 drinks until about 9:30pm. Super crowded place. No matter what day I've been here there's barely any room to sit around and hear the person next to you. Your best bet is to go outside in the patio area, however that's where all the smokers are. Drinks are standard - your basic craft beer selection and decent enough well drinks. Food doesn't look all too appetizing, so will come here again if I need to pregame in the area.

There is one lady who will get very upset at you if you use the bathroom for too long, she will rush you and threaten kick you out. Avoid this location.

I came in here yesterday around 5:30 PM because I didn't feel like walking farther north to another Chelsea gay bar. The seats at the bar we all occupied. I went to the bartender all the way at the end of the bar to ask for my drink. I asked him about happy hour specials since I haven't been here in years. He said that everything was 2-for-1 until 9. I ordered a Bacardi and Coke. It was served in highball glass. Upon tasting it I knew they put a good amount of rum in the drink which I like. I was given a Boxers playing card to redeem my second drink. When I was ready for my third drink, I went to the same spot and another bartender served me. Once again like the first and second drink the third one was strong, This is a good place to go for happy hour.
