Wonderful place for field trips to help teach children about Canadian History, specifically the 1800’s!

Restored and reconstructed buildings from early settlers in the Port Credit area. The grounds and gardens of the park are quite lovely. A trail leads south through the park towards the lake. The trail is suitable for any age walking traffic, but not fully accessible. A rugged stroller could travel readily, but a wheelchair or motorized scooter driver would struggle. Some effort has been made to acknowledge the presence of First Nations peoples throughout this area long before colonial settlers arrived. On the path leading to the log cabin are stencilled paintings of moccasins in various styles. Interpretive signage along the path describes the designs and the First Nations they are associated with. There is a ceremonial sweat-lodge and a gathering area. The park and museum are worth a deliberate visit, not just by happenstance after an accidental wrong turn I made to find it! It's a wonderful place to visit and a gem hidden in South Mississauga. Great staff as well.

A longtime GO-TO museum hidden away in southwestern MISSISSAUGA which is a beautiful example of our historical local past of the 1800's. This year, as part of Mississauga's 50th anniversary the museum has a special display on show until December. A bit too late but perhaps something to put on NEXT YEAR'S calendar is their October events. We found out from a family friend in Barrie of their PARK YOUR PUMPKIN and PARADE OF CARVED PUMPKINS the next day after HALLOWEEN. We live in Mississauga and had not heard of this!!! We took our pumpkins down during the day and then attended that night. (And they recycle the pumpkins too!!!). Mostly for younger children but a great evening with some delicious apple cider and popcorn made over an open fire like the early days of the settlers. There has also been a program called the AUGMENTED REALITY SCAVENGER HUNT which has been going on for the last half of October. I just wish this had been advertised more by MISSISSAUGA for a better attendance on this lovely evening of surprisingly beautiful HALLOWEEN/ALL SAINTS DAY weather.

Great place to visit any time of the year. In March they organize a Maple Magic festival with tours explaining how maple syrup is made. You can taste maple syrup and delicious Indigenous food. If you’re looking to eat moose or deer this is where you can find it along with sweet pine tea and other delicacies of original Canadian food. Learn about the history of Mississauga with the help of knowledgeable employees and volunteers or just enjoy the beautiful area. There’s a fairytale like log house and other historic buildings that will bring you back in time of the settlers arrival to Canada. For practicalities: there’s free parking and toilets on site.

Good place to spend half a day with kids. They give you pan cakes, coffee and snacks to much on as you visit the farm. Volunteers form most of the staff here. It would have been great if they provided a summary of things to do ... we were kind of clueless where to start.

Went to see the Bradley Museum for Scouts Canada. It was a wonderful trip through history, seeing how early settlers lived in the Mississauga region back then. Life was very different back then. You'll appreciate all of today's modern conveniences.

Yelp
A true hidden gem in the city. I bet most of you who live in Clarkson might not even know this place exists, but it does (and has been around for 50 years, no less!) Beautiful and picturesque, the Bradley House is one of the nicest museums in the city. Actually, I hesitate to call it a museum, as it's more a collection of historic properties that all have their own significance, including the Leslie Log Cabin (which was relocated from Port Credit to this site after nearly being demolished). There's a lot to love here. They just built a Native sweat lodge for traditional ceremonies, along with a decorative set of rocks and log seats that are part of class trips to the site. This is the site of some major festivals like Maple Magic, which is usually held every year and has lots of maple syrup-related activities, and the main house itself is filled with all sorts of artifacts and nifty antique items from around the area. If you're in the area, it's worth a visit here. Highly recommended.
