On the Grid : Branded Saloon

"A respite for the urban cowboy, Branded Saloon feels like the kind of place where you’d see Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton or Burt Reynolds sharing a drink over laughs. This honky-tonk themed western bar has everything from steer horns, to taxidermy cattle wearing rainbow wigs, to carriage-wheel chandeliers. And like any true western watering hole, they’ve got a ton of bourbons, whiskeys, ryes and Miller Lights for you to take a swim with. A variety of live music, karaoke, poker and trivia nights can be found almost every night of the week in the back room, with a pool table downstairs just waiting for you to sink the 8 ball. Just be good to each other when you’re there—that portrait of John Wayne is watching you." - Aki Carpenter & Chris Huban

21 Great LGBTQ+ Bars In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"This country western-themed bar is a casual neighborhood hangout with booth seating in the front and a performance space in the back where they host open mic nights and drag shows. But on a warm day in the summer, you’ll want to be seated at a table on their sidewalk patio, grooving to the bass-thumping beats blasting from their excellent speaker system. Downstairs is a basement area with a pool table that no one ever seems to be using (and you can also rent out the space for private parties). This place also serves some pretty decent bar food, like burgers and quesadillas." - molly fitzpatrick, tiffany yannetta, brennan carley, bryan kim, nikko duren, neha talreja

How I Travel: Sasha Velour Travels with at Least Three Suitcases

"My friends at the house of Switch n' Play do a drag show twice a month at a bar called Branded Saloon, which is in Prospect Heights. And it is the best drag show I've ever seen. I always tell people to check it out and they're completely hooked."

Google
really wanted to like this place, however, food was just very unpleasant. our fries had so much chunky garlic it absolutely just didn’t make sense. we also had the mac daddy burger, it was so overdone even thought we asked for it medium. the patty to burger ratio was incredibly off. our main server was very rude to my partner under the guise of being “helpful”. really strange place and not in a cool fun way.

Google
I haven’t gotten around to posting a review until now but have been twice in the past couple of months and really enjoyed this place. The music is fabulous, just an all around great atmosphere for good food and chilling with friends, drinks came out quickly and everything we ate was delicious. I thought the servers and also managers (owners?) were super thoughtful and inviting and talkative. Just a very comfortable place to have a good time.

I came here a couple Sundays ago on a first date. We were seated right away and got our drinks. The food was really yummy. It was busyish but not super crowded or overly loud. About halfway through our meal there was a drag show beginning in the back, but we didn't end up checking it out (though we will next time!) The prices were reasonable and it was fun and yummy. Will certainly return!

Google
Went there for brunch. Pretty busy, but the food came fast and not bad at all

Google
Branded is my absolute favorite bar. I can be myself and have a great time every time I’m there. The owners are very ethical in the way they run it. The plants are the most beautiful plants in the area. You will love it as much as I do!!!!

Reviewing Brooklyn

Google
Great food, along with atmosphere and service! You won’t be disappointed by any of the typical bar food, which is well seasoned and delicious. The staff are SO friendly and it’s such a good vibe, outside and inside.

Google
Definitely a good place to go, lgbt ambiance but feel free to go even if you are not part of the community. Food is amazing and you can sit outside if you don’t want to party. You can sit inside if you want more privacy. or you can also enjoy the free karaoke at night. Waiters and waitresses are so so nice!!

Tia Scott

Google
Super small but a great spot. We happen to catch the end of drag brunch and it was so much fun. The server was incredible. Very sweet and patient. I don't live in Brooklyn but I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Branded Saloon is a fun and welcoming space with great food, fun drinks, and lovely indoor and outdoor space. My husband and I had our wedding reception here, and the staff was wonderful both with the organization and planning process and the event itself. We had a wonderful time (though perhaps drank a bit too much frose -- pace yourself!) and so did our guests. Special shoutout to Patrick, Willa, and the rest of the 6/28 team for taking great care of us and making our friends and family feel welcome!

Yelp
Branded Saloon was the perfect host of multiple parties over the past few years. We kicked things off here with a bracket-style sperm donor selection party (the Spermabowl, if you will) and returned to celebrate the embryo success story with a baby shower -- and Branded nailed it both times. Planning was a breeze. The Branded team was laid-back, responsive, and super accommodating. They even connected us with the day-of staff ahead of time, who went above and beyond: tracking down drinks for a not-so-boozy, very loud group and helping with last-minute needs like plates for cupcakes. We ordered way too much food and they helped us pack it up to go. When our guests lingered well past our end time (oops), the staff remained warm and unbothered -- even on a busy Saturday. Thank you and I'm sorry! Would 100% recommend for your next celebration event space.

Yelp
This was maybe my second time at Branded Saloon and the service is always amazing! I can only describe the vibe as "Trader Joe's". The staff go out of their way to accommodate, everyone's upbeat and it's dog friendly. They offered my friend's dog water & they were giving out compliments/could tell loved dogs. Now, the steak and eggs was delicious. No notes- super filling and yummy. The French 75 was good as well and they offered us a complimentary spiked cider when I couldn't decide between the two. I love when the staff are just happy to make you happy so my friend date continued on Splendidly. Now, the venue itself has a wooden, cabin style feel. inside is super quirky with drag queen photos, upstairs and downstairs area, and rainbow flags. A great safe space.

Yelp
Patrick and Veronica was our servers and host for NYE and let me tell you, THEIR SERVICES WAS IMPECCABLE!! We got here before the crowd and still, they will passed by our booth to asked if we needed anything. The food: Wings were delicious, not dry and super crunchy. Patrick told us that the owner made the food this fine New Year's Eve and let me tell you, those wings hit the spot. Fries were THICCC and well seasoned. As you can see the pictures I have attached to this review, a hefty portion to fill your carbs needs to you know...DRINK MORE!! Their prices is pretty affordable around these neighborhoods and I'm definitely coming back here when I visit NYC. Love the music, giving up a club feel and great vibes. Theres dance floor downstairs and in the back of the place. We sat in the front where the booth is and music is still popping. Thank you Patrick and Veronica!! Y'all the best and thank you for having us ! Until next time, keep it up and we'll see you soon!

Yelp
Really fun drink spot with a wacky and bright, colorful vibe that you just do not expect walking in! They turned a very dark and rustic aesthetic place into a vibrant brunch bar with a variety of tasty options as well as amazing music, drag shows, and karaoke! I came by for a few drinks today and had an absolute blast. The staff was friendly and attentive and so fast to get us our orders! I cannot wait to come back for brunch very soon and try out their food!
google avatar

Yelp
The service was 100% impeccable. We would not have stopped accepting Patrick's showmanship. All Staff were friendly, accommodating, and completely pleasant on a rainy summer Saturday afternoon. Frozen and frozen pina colleagues must orders.

Yelp
The company was amazing! The food, ambiance, drinks, and service all left a great deal to be desired. They have been out of seven up/sprite for a month... so I got a ginger ale. She had a glass of red, which she enjoyed. Sidewalk seating is always fun in that section of Brooklyn. People watching doesn't get much better. To eat we got the quesadilla (meh) and the branded fries (pretty good) which is garlic and butter on fries. Can't go wrong there. Server was very hard to chase down, he was more interested in flirting with other patrons or so it seemed. It's cool, just swing by every once in a while to see what others may need.
google avatar

susie K.

Yelp
Grabbed food and drink here after a reading at unnameable books. Server was great. Loved the brussels sprouts. Don't understand why we were charged for ice.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Gratuity is included on ALL PARTIES. Yes, even a party of two, no matter the time or day. Dropped by for brunch on 10/27 and thought our bill felt a little high. Looked more closely and saw 20% was added which is unfortunate because we usually leave more. Felt a little duped that we weren't told and almost double tipped. Not cool. Note this on your menu please! Can you imagine how many people were 'overserved' on fun benders at Branded and missed this?
google avatar

Yelp
WOW what a GEM. 1st off: espresso martinis? They're legit fam. Solid . Nextly: St. Patrick? That ~glorious~ server??? Well they will take CARE of you. Need a lil shot o that cran to help that vodka go down? Me too, henny. No judgement from St. Pat. Love it. Love it all.
google avatar

Christian V.

Yelp
ALWAYS a great time! Had actually been a few years since I was here, but I was quickly reminded of why this place was once one of my faves. Unlike do maybe other Brooklyn joints, no-one here is ever too cool for school, and I really appreciate that. I hope the staff knows just how far their friendliness goes.
google avatar

Yelp
This spot is down the block from my favorite tea restaurant, and the first time I stopped by, I was just killing time. Best decision ever! The staff is enthusiastic, friendly, funny, and just a pleasure to be around. I went around Halloween, and the place was nicely decorated, giving a cool holiday vibe. The drinks are beyond excellent! Tasty with a nice punch and seasonal: I was able to get a nice hot cocktail on a cold, rainy day. Sidenote, why is it so hard to get hot drinks at other pubs all of a sudden? In addition to great drinks, they also have a nice menu with tasty dishes, including dessert. I definitely plan to be a regular!
google avatar

Tarita H.

Yelp
I stumbled on this gem, funnily enough as I was waiting for a Tea party reservation down the street on a rainy day. We just popped in to get out of the rain. What a find! I cannot rave enough about the waitstaff! So funny! So welcoming! So knowledgeable about the menu. Honestly it felt like I was hanging with a friend! The food is amazing and the drinks are to die for! I was actually surprised at how diverse a food and drink menu they have. The restrooms are clean and spacious. What else do you need to know? Belly up to the bar!
google avatar

Yelp
Best Place to get drinks in Brooklyn! I come here all the time. The artistic and laid back vibe is perfect for so many occasions and every drink I had here are sooooo good (and strong!). My favorite's are the pina colada, frozé, and La Passion! I recommend sitting outside, the wooden paintings, colored plexiglass and seating is too cute. Also the staff is probably the friendliest, I have ever encountered at any restaurant, bar, hotel, etc:))

Patrick M.

Yelp
AUTOMATIC GRATUITY Nice location on Vanderbilt Ave, OK food and slow service. We were two people and ordered three rounds of drinks + nachos (canned chili, good chips) over a 2-3 hour stay. Not super fast service, staff had time to hang out with patrons. Everyone's there to chill and hang out, no problem. Goodwill totally burnt with the auto gratuity which was not listed anywhere visible. I only discovered looking over my receipt the next day that I was induced to tip twice - never again.
google avatar

Jenna B.

Yelp
Sat outside for a nice summer evening cocktail. Their specialty cocktail menu is fun, I went with the La Passion - tasted like a perfectly tart raspberry limeade + tequila.

Katie A.

Yelp
The coolest place in nyc!! Best vibes, best staff. The owners are probably the most generous, fun, kind folks I've ever met. Will definitely become my regular spot. Go check it out and stay awhile!

Wes G.

Yelp
Delicious food and drink, and great vibes (I especially love the key lime pie martini and the half & half wings) Lovely queer space as well!

M S.

Yelp
Love Branded. Burgers and fish and chips are awesome. Good sized portions. Patrick and Jade are the best! Super friendly, great atmosphere.
google avatar

J Leigh B.

Yelp
As Patrick, quite possibly the world's most fabulous server, said...."we're not responsible for the return flight from Punta Cana". That was after I ordered my 7th frozen Pina Colada of the week (and the 3rd visit). As a person who orders a sweet blended drink maybe once a year, this place has that drink on lock. The food is dope. The vibe is legit old school gay meets new school queer, it's "5 o'clock somewhere" and when u walk into a place where everyone is actually happy to be there, one can feel that shit. Well done under the new management!

Ron B.

Yelp
When the server brought our dinner, he knocked my full beer over and spilled it all over me (shorts, shirt and shoes and I was soaked. Asked to comp my meal and was told no.......I'll comp your beer. Nothing to compensate for being soaked or my cleaning bill.
google avatar

Ahiliya N.

Yelp
While I've never eaten here, I think this place is great for a late-night drink! The staff is really kind, the drinks are really fun, and the music is always great. A wonderful wind on Vanderbilt Ave (good to go after a game or show at Barclay's!)
google avatar

Sofia A.

Yelp
Branded Saloon is a little spot on Vanderbilt. Went in on a late Friday night with a group of 3, was seat quickly. Had a few drinks, a little strong which is good..I think I got the Grilled Chicken Quesadilla (6.5/10) Everything was kind of on top of each other except for the sour cream, and it was a little dry too. My friends got the Cheesesteak Sandwich (7/10) and Grilled Chicken Club (8/10). As for the drinks we got the Pina Colada, Master of None, and La Passion. What I really was impressed by was that my friend didn't end up liking her drink and didn't drink so our server didn't charge us for it. Ambiance: 7/10 Food: 7/10 Price: 8.5/10 Service: 10/10
google avatar

Grace Z.

Yelp
Highly recommend the key lime pie martini. I wish I had gotten a better photo of it, but the fact I didn't before scarfing down the several I ordered is a testament to how good it was. It tastes exactly like the dessert. The servers are fun and warm!
google avatar

Scott K.

Yelp
The food is good and I the staff is nice. Ambiance is good. My only complaint and why I don't go more often is that I was dining alone and when I got my check, the gratuity was added already. I'm not opposed to adding gratuity for large groups but for one person, I prefer to decide what tip they receive.
google avatar

Yelp
An adorable pub sits right on the corner of Vanderbilt Street in Prospect Heights. It is Branded Saloon. The inside was pub atmosphere all the way, but during the warmer months, there's the luxury of outdoor seating. En route to dinner--somewhere--my friend and I who were not familiar with restaurants in this neighborhood decided to make a pitstop at Branded Saloon while we figure out plans. Mind you, this pub served food but we were seeking a certain cuisine or most likely, pizza. Having just missed happy hour, we settled outside enjoying a glass of Rose wine ( at $9.00). We heard the fish tacos were a satisfying snack but passed as we asked the lovely bartender for restaurant recommendations in the area. She literally came up with about 6 suggestions and was very enthusiastic about her selections. I don't know what their food is all about but this place started to get pretty crowded as we were ready to leave (with a destination in mind for dinner, again thanks to the lovely waitress/bartender). We really enjoyed the cute atmosphere and it's a pretty good place to take a load off your feet or perhaps even grab a bite. Nice.
google avatar

Lindsey O.

Yelp
This place is a great time, and I'm really impressed with the job they're doing during the pandemic. On weekends, Vanderbilt is shut down and they put tons of tables spaced out in the street, and even on weekdays they have a special yurt tent with heaters and open air ventilation in the gaps, but enough fabric to block the wind and cold. They also have a plastic/glass house-y space for one table - super cute! I highly recommend the Georgia, Oh My My drink - it's delicious and both peachy and cinnamony. I'm not a huge drinker because I just don't love the taste of booze, but you barely taste it at all here while it still gives you that buzz you're looking for. We also got the disco fries, and the gravy/cheese sauce on them was delicious. I'd been another time pre-pandemic and the spot is super fun. A friend of mine did a comedy show in the back room, and indoors, the service is friendly and it's got a cute western saloon theme. It's honestly one of the more fun bars on Vanderbilt, especially because it's just casual and not stuffy.
google avatar

T G.

Yelp
What s the poor experience @ Branded Saloon. Patrick cursed at the customer. Racial discrimination is not acceptable. This was very unprofessional if him. No matter what a customers does you try and resolve the situation. Not cursed at them. This was very poor judgment of his part. Also the food was nothing to worth the cost. Over priced for 4 items. Plus a service charge was added 20% even if you are taking it to go. Thumbs down for the service. My position is when a customer does not enjoy your food you should try and ask then how you can recertify the situation.
google avatar

Cherette L.

Yelp
Patrick Fromuth!!! He is a DREAM!! He will help you create your PERFECT ORDER while making you laugh WHILE embracing you like family. The food and drinks are wonderful! You won't be sorry. FIVE WHOLE STARS!!!

Annette F.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere, great people, drinks & food. The Brussel sprout hash is incredible!
google avatar

Steph R.

Yelp
The key lime pie martini was great! The Mac n cheese bites were just Mac, no cheese, very bland. Not worth a try. The Brussels and bacon were cooked separately and they sprinkled bacon around it, totally missing the idea of combining flavors. Fried pickles, were cucumbers, not quite the pickle yet and they were all outside of the breaded batter. Again, Missing the mark. Chicken tenders were flavorful, best item of the 4 ordered. I would say better luck next time, but I can't imagine giving this place another time. My bill was higher than my satisfaction.

Scott D.

Yelp
Industry professional here. Steer clear of this establishment. Rude, entitled waitstaff and bartenders. Probably fueled by ego, $$$, etc. Still no reason to eat your own... Turns out that gentrification hurts community AND sales. Wanted to like and support this spot but ...ooooof... If you're young, white and privileged, you'll have a great time at this establishment. If not, good luck. Look out for the server/bartender who has long blond hair but likes to wear a fedora or mounties hat... (red flag there to begin with). Wow. Sometimes it's just time to switch gears and change careers. For her, probs shoulda happended during COVID b/c now that we're all out socializing again, that kind of garbage attitude serves Nobody. Signed, Industry Veteran (aka told we were "shitcanned" and to stop wasting time and GTFO). - Gladly. And will definitely spread the word. Mind you, this was 10pm ON A SUNDAY... Imagine how they act when slammed on a weekend. I wouldn't want to know.
google avatar

Chaya T.

Yelp
Neighborhood treasure and the best gathering spot in the neighborhood! Reliably delicious bar food, great drinks, full menu and the nicest bartenders and waitstaff! Great spot for queers, allies and all sorts of Brooklyn people.
google avatar

L. R.

Yelp
This is my first time here (I found it by accident). I LOVE this place! I ordered the feta, watermelon, kale salad and added bacon. It. Is. Friction'. Delicious. It has no business being so tasty and so beautifully presented. The service is excellent and the staff charming, professional, and inviting. As a Queer woman I feel safe here. Affirmed. Among community, even though I am eating by myself and doing some work on my computer. The outdoor space here is A-MAZING. I will totally be back!
google avatar

Jack H.

Yelp
One of the worst places, I have ever been to. Went for lunch today. No written menu, no decaf coffee. No sugar (except liquid), paper plates, and plastic utensils. I ordered blueberry pancakes and received plain. When I told the waiter he said that they ran out of blueberries. My wife ordered fish n chips. The fish was spoiled, over-fried, and greasy. The place was empty at rush hour. Rightly so. The biggest insult was that they take their 20% tip upfront. A real dive. I guess they survive on the bar. You might be thinking that it could not possibly be that bad. It was.
google avatar

Weecee P.

Yelp
Patrick who works here is awesome! When you come here make sure you ask him to recite his pitch about the saloon

Ann W.

Yelp
They have the best frozen drinks! Totally worth visiting just for the drinks but they also have a great burger and chicken fingers. The servers are always super friendly and on top of it. Has a really inclusive environment. Overall a great neighborhood spot
google avatar

Kenny C.

Yelp
I love open streets, especially on Vanderbilt. With that, Branded has sidewalk seating, seating in the street, and then near the island in the middle of the block. All that to say, they're serving a LOT of people. So of course, service might not be as expedient as you'd expect. But they have a great beer selection. Waitstaff is great. They're family friendly. And of course, it's a very very very gay bar.
google avatar

Fredrique M.

Yelp
The waiter kicked us out of the place and said the restaurant closed 5 minutes after selling us beers. He started yelling and cursing us in front of everybody while his friends were laughing at us in the next table. I could not believe such a thing is even possible in America. I wanted to call the cops but decided it is better to take the high roads since we didn't even feel safe while we were there. %20 gratuity included!!! SHAME SHAME SHAME!
google avatar

Ty G.

Yelp
I wish I thought about writing a review before I ate. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and a chicken club. These sandwiches each came with just 1 of the thinnest slices of chicken I've ever seen in my life. I couldn't even tell there was chicken on the sandwich. Literally had to take the top bun off and fold the remainder in half for it to feel like I was eating a little piece of chicken. Ridiculous. And the "salad" was just spinach on top of kale garnished w shredded carrots. Wouldn't recommend eating here...but the fries and music are good. Maybe just come for drinks?
google avatar

Julie A.

Yelp
Branded was a wonderful place to host a holiday party! I really enjoyed the staff, the food, and the hospitality offered by this queer business.
google avatar

Frida G.

Yelp
I am honestly confused as to why they have reviews stating they have poor customer service. I was there about a week ago and food and drinks were good, but the customer service OUTSTANDING. Would absolutely come back!
google avatar

Chantalle U.

Yelp
Reasons I love this bar 1. They have queer friendly burlesque 2. The food is always good
google avatar

Lennon S.

Yelp
This restaurant was GREAT. Atmosphere GREAT, food, GREAT, service WONDERFUL. My sisters birthday is today and we decided upon this spot and had rum punch, peach bellini, and a margarita with buffalo wings, sweet potato fries, and Cesar salads and it was AH-mazing. Antonio was spectacular.

Tanis M.

Yelp
I came here with my friends to get some food after a concert at the Barclays Center. I guess the bartender knew we had been there because they surprised us by putting on more of the band's music. We all gasped in unison when it came on and sang along. It was the PERFECT ending to the night. Bartender, if you're reading this we love you and please show this to whoever pays you because you deserve a raise.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
5/5 stars for karaoke night at Branded. It's the only reason why I would ever come here. Otherwise, this place is expensive... but even also petty, as I came to find out recently. Example: I cannot drink alcohol at the moment, but there is a two-drink minimum for karaoke. I have no problem with this- I ordered a seltzer with lime, fully expecting to pay whatever that costs (I had assumed it would only be a few bucks- more on that later). Eventually, I decide I'm going to buy the karaoke host some cocktails. I figure I would do this b/c a) the bar for some reason doesn't consistently offer the karaoke host any extra perks like free drinks and b) I felt bad about making the two-drink minimum by just ordering seltzers, which are obviously going to be less expensive than booze. Because I ordered two scotch and sodas (one with a top-shelf liquor) I expected that my seltzers would be comped... that's pretty standard. In fact, most people/establishments are kind enough to just waive the cost even if seltzer is the only thing I order (I always tip). But no. I get my bill and not only am I charged for the seltzers... I'm charged *5 dollars* for each seltzer. The bill, which I expected to be around 25 dollars for the already slightly overpriced cocktails (2 scotch and sodas), ended up being almost 50 dollars b/c I wanted sparkly hydration. They also for some reason charge you the tax on beer? Like, wtf- charge an even amount so the rest of the money can go to the bartender. Anyway, Branded- I love you for the karaoke, but please consider changing your policy about sparkly water if someone is ordering booze on top of that...

Yelp
Such bad service. Wanted t support local businesses but was met with snarky and poor customer service.

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Drinks were fire cauliflower bites were fab. Saloon burger was delish. Patrick is the best server in Brooklyn
