Yelp
An absolute hidden gem that we stumbled onto via Yelp, after sitting, soaking wet, (another story) in traffic from Chicago back to our hotel in Naperville. It's a small neighborhood place, sandwiched in with other businesses (maybe some residences). Without knowing it was there, or using navigation you might drive right by. Missing it if you are in the area would be your loss.
It was about 1330 on a rainy Thursday and we were the only customers. Our server was really pleasant and our food came, fresh, hot and pretty quick. Perhaps they do an earlier lunch rush or are truly a breakfast place.
I found it to be a cozy (it was nice and warm inside and we needed it), a bit romantic with the wood and rich latin color scheme. My wife got a Monte Cristo sandwich, with fries. I got a burger with guacamole and bacon. Every bite was just plain wonderful. The fries were hot and cooked perfectly, the sandwiches were well crafted. My guacamole was clearly hand made and they were generous with it. If we are ever in the area again, we are definitely coming back.
From other reviews and search result I see that there is another Brasos a few doors down...I understand a need to differentiate the two businesses (even if same owners?) but "pancake house" for me, and just for me, isn't quite right for a place this sexy. When I hear pancake house I think fluorescent lights, cooks with regrets and parole appointments, servers held back by bad choices in men. I am not saying pancake houses are bad places, they are just a niche, that this solid little cafe, is not.
