At Georgetown’s New Flame-Fed Steakhouse, Don’t Sleep on the Pasta | Eater DC

"Arguably Georgetown’s most anticipated opening this year, this wood-fired Argentinian import on the banks of the C&O Canal greets you with a theatrical oven grilling meats as you enter; sizzling steaks presented tableside may steal the spotlight, but the one-page menu holds more. A short pasta section pays homage to 19th-century Italian immigrants, and Chef Manuela Carbone’s Sorrentino—domed discs filled with gloriously velvety butternut squash—is a standout. To start, delightfully crispy empanadas encase beef (or king crab, to appease pescatarians), and a spreadable circle of foie gras pâté is almost outshined by its dollop of delicious chutney of the day. Date night calls for the “taste of Argentina for two” ($155): a choice of 24-ounce tenderloin, rib-eye, or New York strip with meaty french fries and grilled vegetables like shimmering stalks of sliced yellow carrots; on the à la carte side, a glistening plate of ruby-red peppers is a must. Soaring ceilings and exposed brick in an 1800s firehouse set the scene, with sea creatures hand-drawn by founder Renato “Tato” Giovannoni and his growing gin line showing up in fragrant, fruity cocktails." - Tierney Plumb

The Most Exciting D.C. Restaurant Openings to Look Forward to This Fall | Eater DC

"Opening one door over from the flower shop, the restaurant greets diners with a striking grill firing up the sizzling prime cuts of meat Argentina is known for, bringing the brasero-driven heart of the Buenos Aires concept to Georgetown’s converted historic firehouse." - Tierney Plumb

Argentina’s Famed, Open-Flame Hit Makes Dramatic D.C. Entrance | Eater DC

"A dramatic, open-flame restaurant set inside what used to be D.C.’s oldest firehouse, where a striking, car‑weight grill visible from the street sears the prime Argentine cuts and a sky‑high ceiling still hints at the old firefighter pole. A gleaming copper‑wrapped counter—an homage to founder Tato Giovannoni’s engineer grandfather—anchors a room with an open kitchen that blends into the bar so diners can watch chefs and bartenders work in tandem. Seasonality drives a menu that goes beyond steak to house‑made pâtés, preserved vegetables, wild game, and empanadas (served on both levels), with white‑and‑blue French plateware adding a classic touch. Artful flourishes abound: two graphic‑pencil sea creatures watch over the 55‑seat space, bathrooms make moo‑ing sounds in a wink to the countryside theme, and a dramatic private dining room hides in back with an upside‑down tree‑like chandelier recalling La Pampa, reclaimed Virginia barn wood, and a records‑only setup where hosts pick five vinyls to spin and take home. A growing 250‑bottle wine list lines an upstairs runway that leads to a slim terrace overlooking the C&O Canal." - Tierney Plumb

My fiancee and I just celebrated our 8yr anniversary and engagement here and the staff helped make an already phenomenal night even better! A huge shout out to Dayana our lovely server and management! The restaurant has a lovely intimate atmosphere and is perfect for celebrating special nights! The specialty cocktails were phenomenal as was the "Taste of Argentina" a must get if you love steak! The restaurant transported us back to our memories of visiting Argentina a few years ago. I also highly recommend the epanadas. The desserts were full of fun and unique flavors. The bathrooms also is lovely with some sort of nice scent and an audio recording of canopy birds, which was a lovely surprise. We look forward to going back :)

This was definitely a great experience. The people that work there were well trained and professional. The food was cooked correctly. The presentation was amazing. Must make reservations. Definitely going back for more! Also, why are people eating the empanadas with a fork and knife???

Best mollejas (sweetbread) I’ve had here in the states and maybe even in Argentina. The provoleta and rib eye were also incredible! Open table made us a reservation for the wrong day (a Sunday, which they are closed) and the manager was super accommodating and got us seats for 2 at the bar since we had gone all the way to DC to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. There, we were served by Giancarlos who makes THEEEEE BEST espresso martinis I’ve had in quite a long time. He then brought us a beautiful birthday dessert and it was the icing on the cake (literally). Honestly, the food, the service, and the vibes were amazing. I cannot wait to go back.

We recently tried the new restaurant in Georgetown and were pleasantly surprised by its atmosphere and thoughtful design. The dining room, set along the side of the bar and kitchen, has a unique and original layout that made conversation easy and enjoyable — something increasingly rare these days. Service was excellent from start to finish. One of the most memorable touches was the squid ink bread, which added a creative and unexpected note to the meal. Overall, we were very happy with our dishes, both in taste and presentation. There were, however, a couple of disappointing moments. My husband found his martini “not martini enough” and ended up having to switch to a different drink. More importantly, I had booked the dinner to celebrate his birthday. Since we didn’t order dessert right away, no small cake or candle was brought to the table — just the bill. I eventually ordered a dessert to get the candle, but I shared my disappointment with the manager, as this is not standard practice in most restaurants. To their credit, both the martini and the dessert were removed from the bill, which we appreciated. All in all, the restaurant shows promise with its creative touches, excellent service, and interesting space. With a bit more attention to celebratory details, it could easily become one of Georgetown’s standout dining spots.

Stunning meal in a vibrant environment. Extensive wine list with a generous Somm ready to assist. What a great place in the heart of Georgetown.

We hosted a holiday party at Brasero Atlantico on 12/12/2025 and had a terrible experience. Contract was for 25 guests, but only 22 attended. We were still charged $6,751.44 for a family-style meal, with no individual appetizers or desserts. When we asked to take uneaten food to go, the restaurant refused. They also refused to adjust the price despite fewer guests. At this price point, the lack of flexibility and customer service is unacceptable. Would not recommend for private events.

Yelp
Had a great time here with a large group in the private room. The room itself is beautiful with a high ceiling, dark wooden walls, a large table and painted tree roots overhead. The volume and temp in the room were set perfectly. Food is great, Argentina beef that takes you straight back - the ribeye is a must try. There are several other Argentinian dishes and though the private room menu was set, I look forward to trying more options. Service was also great, friendly and prompt.

Yelp
Fantastic! The steak was outstanding as was the fries. An excellent wine menu and a rustic decor make for a very pleasant meal. I would highly recommend. The prices while not cheap, this is a steak house in DC afterall, are definitely not as high as other steak houses.

Yelp
I will say the cocktails were good. The food however was just disappointing all around and on top of that, it was also unnecessarily expensive and small portioned. $17 for a bowl of average fries!! The ribeye ordered medium came out close to well done and had no char or flame flavor (I thought this was an Argentinian open flame restaurant) The Milanese (thin brown slab of idk what they were trying), mushroom pasta (undercooked, no flavor), risotto (Mac and cheese), bolognese (not even) - nobody at our table enjoyed these dishes. The squid ink bread was a weird texture and flavorless. It was a nice space and idea but everything was poorly executed. Scrap the menu and start over.

Yelp
I'm a big fan. I had wanted to go for several weeks and couldn't find a reservation. So I was delighted to check Sunday morning, and I found a lunch reservation. It turned out to be their first lunch! We were seated in view of the beautiful and huge ventilation system above their barbecue. For appetizers, we tried the king crab empanada, and the tortilla de papas with octopus. It was great to have an empanada done by a master to counteract all the mediocre ones one finds along the way. For mains we had the frog legs and the rovelline alla lucchese. The latter was a first for me, and it was truly a wonderful example of a milanesa, with a lovely tomato sauce on top. We sampled some of the Argentinian wines and cocktails, and were very happy to find some additional wines on sale at Florería Atlántica, and for that purchase we were given two free alfajores, which topped everything off nicely.

Yelp
An amazing experience! Beef directly from Argentina, prepared perfectly, great appetizers, and warm, knowledgeable, and professional service. The "hidden" bar next door, accessed through a flower shop and down stairs, was packed and jumping! The entire staff, from waiters to managers, made us feel welcome and important!

Yelp
This is a scam. A party of twelve was charged for bottles of wine that had been prepaid. Despite providing both receipts, management has refused to resolve this issue.
