6 Boston-Area Brazilian Restaurants to Try During Carnival 2019

"Brasil Brazil serves salgados, small bites of chicken, beef, cheese, and more, encased in fried dough. East Bostonians pop in for a snack to take on the T — it’s a penalty-kick’s distance from Maverick Station on the Blue Line — or to pass time people-watching with a panoramic view of Maverick Square. Try the quibes, coxinhas, and pasteis. Quibes are balls of bulgar wheat and ground beef; coxinha is the Portuguese word for “little thigh,” or a bite of shredded, seasoned, and battered chicken stuffed with melted Catupiry cheese; and pastéis are nostalgic, crispy pies with fillings from heart of palm to guava — they’re common at Brazilian farmers markets and specialized pastelerias. Enjoy these deep-fried crowd-pleasers with fresh Brazilian coffee, passion fruit juice, or cashew juice." - Drew Hulse

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/10 – Absolutely Perfect! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere. The breakfast and dining room is simply great — spotless, warm arranged, and filled with joy that makes every meal feel special. Every detail felt thoughtfully prepared, and the flavors were outstanding. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, always ensuring that tables were clean and guests had everything they needed. It’s rare to find a place that gets both the food and the service so right. Whether it’s a relaxing breakfast to start the day or a cozy snack experience in the evening, this place delivers on every level. Truly a 10/10 experience — I can’t wait to come back!

It’s a family owned bakery! The baker/owner was so nice to us, we had a nice conversation. He also gave us some fresh Brazilian baguettes which were apparently vegan too! There were also a lot of goodies from Brazil in the convenience store section as well! The corn latte is to die for too 🌽 I would come back at least once a month for it 🤩

We found this place on Easter morning and were very surprised to find such a lovely host and one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. A bacon, egg and cheese sandwich freshly made on a homemade croissant was unbelievably delicious! Vitor (the manager) was so kind and made us feel like family. The coffee was honestly some of the best coffee I’ve ever had in Boston. It’s a specialty coffee shipped in from Brazil. I highly recommend stopping here any day of the week.

Google
Absolutely love finding places like this. Solid selection of good coffees and food for breakfast and lunch. Their cheesy dough balls alone are worth the trip. Owner was super friendly and chatted a bit. We felt truly welcome there.

Stopped in here for lunch and was met with incredible service, The lady at the register recommended me a sandwich and it was delicious and came out fast the pao de queijo were delicious and she even offered to warm them up for me! I was happy to see they had the sugar free guarana as well as multiple imported goods! Will definitely return

Google
Lovely friendly Brazilian cafe on Maverick Square. I had a great cappuccino and a coxinha, total about $8. Lattes, Americano, etc.; almond and oat milk available. Pizza and paninis on the menu. Cakes and other desserts at the counter. Plenty of seating, some of the tables have power outlets and USB A and USB C charging outlets too.

Yelp
I usually always buy açai smoothie, and the last time they made it differently, I think less product and that tasted horrible, it wasn't the same way they've always made it, and they managed it very poorly, the way they treated their employees and talked to them bad in front of the clients, it seemed like bad service from the supervisor, she should have an appropriate manner when referring to her employees, habitualmente yo compro smootie de açai siempre , y mi ultimavez lo hicieron diferente , creo que menos producto y eso sabia horrible , no era de la misma manera que lo an hecho siempre , y la maneger muy mal , manera de tratar a sus empleadas y hablarle mal delante de los clientes , me parecio un mal servicio de la supervisora , deberia ella de tener una manera adecuada al referirse a sus empleados ,

Yelp
My wife was craving the cheesy bread balls (sorry I don't know the proper name for them) so we stopped in on our way out of town. It was afternoon time so they had been sitting out awhile and were eh, but we got home and reheated them and they were excellent. Lots of other Brazilian snacks and foods available. I was impressed with the business center and consultant they offered as well.

Yelp
Really affordable pao quejio When we visited, there were only two pao quejio left. One of the employees told us to stick around though and they'd have another fresh batch ready in 10 minutes. They were so affordable at 2 for $1. We got to try them fresh and they were pretty good. I've had some pao quejio that's a bit better which is the only reason it's not 5 stars.

Yelp
this place is a gem. the food is amazing; the pão de queijo was cheesy and delicious, I could have eaten a dozen. the staff was so friendly and ended up giving us free treats. this is definitely a place I will come back to.

Yelp
2.7 for what was tried. Here, in Maverick Square, 5 minutes from Logan, are found a Brazilian and a Colombian bakery. I came to inquire of the drink guaraná, but didn't see it offered. There were just a few items left for the day, and I went for another route: alimentary route, that is! I didn't care for the filled pdq-- too dry and too salty. When I bake them, they come out moist and buttery/cheesy enough to feel the moisture in the mouth. Milk pie was fine; after 3 bites though, I dare not finish it because of its richness. I have learned to sample without the need to finish everything. Not too many SAmerican places, and I would love to go some day...

Yelp
What's better than fresh, hot bread on a cold morning? The pan de queso is sooo good, especially when it's fresh out of the oven. I wouldn't have known about this place had my coworker not brought a big bag to our store. Its in Maverick Square, but tucked away- so keep your eyes open if you don't want to miss this cheap treat

Yelp
Is so sad that they have a really good things/food/coffee ! But the customer service is the worst!!! I called 20-25 min before to place an order for pick up and when I went they told me they don't even start the order yet, with an attitude without any apologize , just like nothing happened. And I lost 30 minutes of my time just going on a place which is no care about customers.

Yelp
This is a great place to go to grab a quick bite. The coffee and pastries are much better thank Dunks next-door and WAY cheaper. With fresh baked bread and pastries made every day, theres something for everyone. Their Cheesy bread is to die for and the Palm and Cheese rollup is great for breakfast or lunch. The staff is amazing and super friendly! Great place, great service, great food

Yelp
Nice spot to go to for a quick bite. The staff was nice and good at helping me decide what to get. The service was quick even though there were a few customers waiting to be helped too. There is a small seating area by the windows if you want to eat there. Convenient location near the Maverick T station.

Yelp
I've gone here about 3 or 4 times in the last two years. I've gotten a wide variety of breads and sweets. The Pudim is over baked every time I get it. The pao de quejio is so bad. It's always hard and the last time I got it it had zero taste. Like they left out the salt. I threw all 10 of them away that I had bought. My kids love them and we were so excited to eat the pao. it's seriously the worst Brazilian bakery I've ever been to.

Yelp
I love this place! The prices are fair, they always seem to be open, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Even when it is busy, the line moves quickly. The shop is small but clean and organized.
