The 22 Best Restaurants In Cape Town 2024

"Visiting the Brass Bell will make you want to build your entire identity around buying a fishing boat, even if you’ve never fished a day in your life. Stop here after taking a drive along Kalk Bay’s scenic coast for a lunch of fish and chips, creme brulee, and a couple of great drinks by the water. Spend the afternoon at the Pavilion or Oyster Deck, where views of False Bay are the main attraction, or check out the Cabin Restaurant, which is perfect for cozy dinners set to the sound of the ocean in the background." - bri cave

We had the pleasure of dining at The Brass Bell on Easter Sunday, and it was an absolutely lovely experience from start to finish. The service was outstanding — our waitress was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. She gave great recommendations on the restaurant’s best sellers, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The food was simply amazing — full of flavor and beautifully presented. The warm, inviting ambience made the evening even more special with the cozy fireplace adding to the seaside charm. Highly recommended for a relaxed, memorable dining experience by the ocean. We'll definitely be back!

We walked in for breakfast and was told they stop serving it at 11:30, so we had 20 minutes to order quickly .... which we did. Our coffees took 20min to arrive. I asked the waiter what was going on. He said the queue for the food tickets on the system was long and we must wait. The restaurant was pretty much empty so it did not make sense. We drank our coffee slowly, whilst waiting for the food which came out at 12:15, where my eggs and bacon were ice cold. Partners toast was cold. Had to send the items back, waited again. Eventually got the food and at that point just ate what we had as we were hungry. The food however tasted amazing. I just wish the service at this place was better. The vibe and scenery is really good. We might consider coming back for dinner one day as we saw some nice options on the menu... hopefully the service would be more efficient then

🌊 Brass Bell – A Seaside Serenade 🌊 Through a tunnel, adventure begins, To where the ocean’s melody softly sings. No reservation, yet fate was kind, A corner window seat, the perfect find. Waves danced beneath our feet, A panoramic view, a visual treat. Service with smiles, food divine, Each bite a moment, each sip a sign. From seafood platters to pizzas crisp, Flavors that made our spirits lift. The ambiance, a blend of charm and cheer, A place to which we’d gladly steer. A gem by the bay, worth every mile, Brass Bell, where memories compile. But heed this note, to avoid the wait, Booking ahead might just be great.

The view is stunning. It is a bit dirty, but the view and food make up for it. The vegetarian pizza and calamari are delicious. They also have great specials throughout the week.

Stopped in at The Brass Bell for a seafood fix, and left completely hooked! We ordered the seafood platter — and wow — it was fresh, generous, and absolutely delicious. Every bite tasted like the ocean had RSVP’d to our table. But what really made the experience unforgettable was Elizabeth. Her warm smile, easy charm, and attentive service added so much heart to our meal. She didn’t just serve us; she made us feel right at home. Honestly, she’s the kind of person that makes you want to come back — and we absolutely will, thanks to her! If you're in Kalk Bay and craving seafood with a side of genuine hospitality, The Brass Bell is the spot.

Don’t get distracted by the restaurants downstairs — head straight to the upstairs section of The Brass Bell. It’s such a cool spot, with a unique vibe that feels like you’re dining on a ship. The views are stunning, and the atmosphere is relaxed but lively. They offer half-price sushi and cocktail specials, which are definitely worth it. The sushi was good (not amazing, but fresh and enjoyable). Cocktails were average — that’s the one area that could use improvement. Service was fantastic, and I’d definitely go back for the vibe, the view, and the overall experience.

Delicious food, friendly and efficient staff, and beautiful décor. Went on a particularly cold winter night, but it still managed to be cozy. Had the fish and chips, which is the best I've had so far in Cape Town. A bit pricey, but I would definitely recommend it for a special night out!

We have been to brassbell many times previously and had good meals. This time we got 1 menu for 3 adults to share, we ordered and got our food 1 hour & 35 minutes later. The food was not up to standard. The pizza topping was not scattered equally & was minimal. The food was standing for a whilst we could see and reheated before we got served. It was most disappointing.
