Stella for the Bella! Great little spot we found by the high line. Looks dark from the outside, but they’ve got a great rooftop space. Service here was great too. The bartender recommended the lovely Dogfish IPA to my friend and I had a few of the Coney Island Pilsners. Played banger after banger as well.

We only stopped in for a night cap. On a cold January night. Bar is cozy. Service good and we had fun. We will return. Want to experience the rooftop bar in summer.

Google
Walking downtown along the Hudson to start the Highline and we wanted a little fortitude before we got going (ha! Ha!) and found the Brass Monkey nestled in sweetly below the Whitney/Highline entry. What a lovely quintessential cocktail bar and such friendly service! We had the Mexican ginger and first line cocktail - and my husband followed up with a local IPA (Dog fish head!) and all drinks were tip top! What a find!! Thanks BM team :)

Google
A very cool bar in the meat packing district with three floors, each with its own bar. Service is top-shelf and the bar has a great old-school vibe with lots of exposed beams, brass, and brick walls. Be sure and check out the rooftop bar! We showed up when they were closing but they stayed open for us since we had driven here to check out the bar. The manager Homero went over and beyond to make us feel welcome and told us about the bar's history. Be sure and try out the fish or shrimp tacos, or the cheeseburger if you're in the mood to eat some good food. The Brass Monkey is now one of our favorite bars here in NYC.

Google
The Brass Monkey in Manhattan is a must-visit! The rooftop bar offers stunning views of the city skyline, making it the perfect spot for drinks with friends or a night out. The atmosphere is lively, and the staff is super friendly. Whether you're enjoying cocktails or just soaking in the view, this spot never disappoints. The vibe is relaxed yet energetic—ideal for anyone looking for a great time in NYC. Highly recommend checking out the rooftop!

Google
We were looking for a relaxed rooftop vibe and found it at Brass Monkey. The drinks were solid and reasonably priced, and the rooftop service was fantastic. However, the service downstairs was a different story—my friends were served the wrong beer and got pushback when they pointed it out. We expected the bar to close at 2 AM based on their Google Business Profile, but the lights came on around 1:15 with no last call, and the staff just stared at us, clearly annoyed we hadn’t left. A little heads-up would’ve been nice—how were we supposed to know?

Google
I popped into the Brass Monkey after walking the High Line. It's a really nice bar on the periphery of the meat packing district with a good selection on tap . I didn't eat here, so haven't rated the food.

Google
We came in here for dinner and left super happy. The service was a little slow but the staff was great. The food was delicious.

Yelp
A fabulous bar for all near the Whitney. Several floors of different bar ambience from relaxing to rocking. 1sr floor bar entrance booth was our favorite. Fish n chips excellent. Burgers great. Service wonderful. Truly a treat.

Yelp
My Negroni was boozy and was actually pretty good. The service was also really good as well. They have three levels which does make it more spacious but it's still pretty busy and crowded on weekends

Yelp
The bar staff, doormen, security... everyone.. was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful! Place was packed but the bartenders were machines! Fast service, smiling faces, good music.. tip top.

Yelp
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. horrible. crowded. bouncers are beyond rude. one pushed my friend away from me and spilled my entire $20 drink all over my designer top. horrible place. go to McDonald's instead. avoid at all costs. intern bar- interns go to fiddlesticks instead that place is lame.

Yelp
We stumbled across Brass Monkey after finishing up on the high line and it was a great accident! We got the chicken caeser wrap which was so yummy! Came with a side of fries and multiple sauces. They also have a great drink deal which you get a "big and a little" (shot and a beer) for $10! It's a three story restaurant/bar that has a ton of different seating options. The very top if a rooftop bar that has covered options too! Highly highly recommend stopping by!

Yelp
We loved Brass Monkey! We told our Uber driver we were looking for a fun bar and he recommended we go here. It was a blast. Lots of (young) people, great DJ and bar service by Ladell. It was nice to get a round of (3) drinks for $30 versus one cocktail for $20-25 at other more bougie places. Lol. We spent the night singing, dancing and drinking more than we needed to. The only downside is I asked the DJ to play me some Beastie Boys Brass Monkey (not unusual right?!) instead he played No Sleep Til Brooklyn. I'll take it. We didn't have any food but I would've liked some late night snacks :) the driver also said there was another place next door that was also fun... so fyi if you want to bar hop.

Sydney C.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience here last weekend, though it was a younger crowd. However, this weekend was ATROCIOUS. There was a crowd, but the crowd wasn't the issue. The issue tonight was the bouncers. They were positioned by the each set of stairs and were very violently grabbing and pushing customers, particularly the women. They caused multiple people to fall over and aggressively were pulling people by the arms and screaming. I understand that bars get crowded, but there is NEVER an excuse for the staff to become this aggressive with the customers, especially the women. I was absolutely disgusted and terrified at the behavior of the employees that worked here. Once a favorite spot will never be frequented again. If you value your safety do NOT come here!!

Yelp
Great local dive bar in the Chelsea area conveniently located by the Little Islands and the High Line which I did not know. It's pretty cool. Came last night for a date and to thankfully escape the humid air of summer and it did not disappoint. The AC was bustling. It felt nice. Me and my party sat in the back end of the space, there's a second floor landing that led to a second floor bar which sadly was close. I didn't realize that there was a rooftop bar until my date mentioned it. Shocking, it would be nice if it was advertised lol. Drinks were on par, we ordered a side of French fries, mozzarella sticks, cheeseburger sliders and a cheeseburger which came with fries. The portions were huge. Bathroom was spacious. I enjoyed it.

Yelp
bad drinks, bad service, I would not go here it it was the last bar on earth. waste of time and horrible workers.

Yelp
Come here a few times. During the day and at night. The place is always packed and a long line to get in so it must be good. During the day time, we were able to go all the way up to the roof where it's an open air place. The other floor has a pretty spacious dance floor for all of your awkward drunk dancing. The vibe is pretty good although you'd think otherwise for the area. There are also other great options within walking distance. Tons of good street food options at night as well. In NYC, where you see a ton of street carts, then you know it's a good spot with lots of drunk party people. I did come to a party event during the day and there was an expensive entry fee, which I thought was worth it. Great place to just party out during the day or night.

Yelp
This is a great bar that has a few levels! We immediately went to the rooftop which has beautiful views! They have nice lights lighting up the place and adding to the ambience! I can tell that this is a huge place a lot of 1st year out of college analysts go to because we were surrounded by them! Service: They were extremely quick with our drinks! Drinks: a great selection of drinks!

Yelp
We came here after going to Chelsea piers (about a 15 minute walk). They open around 4pm on Sunday and we were seated at the rooftop terrace. The rooftop terrace had plenty of sunlight and a decent amount of tables. The rooftop terrace faces little Island. I love the chicken fingers here, they come with fries as well (around $13). I also got a brass monkey light ($8)- it was a great light beer. The nachos were average. I would recommend the chicken finger w fries. It comes with ranch and bbq sauce to dip in. The Service was great!! The server checked on our table multiple times, always making sure we had drinks. Great spot to chill with friends during the day! I have not been here at night so can't speak to it.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a Sunday afternoon going to Chelsea Pier. We waited til 4pm so we can go up to their rooftop bar. The bar seems pretty chill and the service was attentive. They checked on us few times. We managed to get one of the back tables where there was shade. Food - The drinks were good. Basic bar stuff and good beer. The chicken tenders were a big hit. We had 3 couples and each couple got their own plate of chicken tenders. The Spinach and Artichoke dip was okay. This is a good spot to chill with your friends.

Yelp
We came with some friends after walking around on a hot day. Found it odd that the upstairs area didn't have AC, it was a blast of heat after going up the stairs. But we got some refreshing drinks and some guac. The drinks and guac were all fine and reasonably priced. Guac was good but nothing special. I'm told the rooftop has some awesome views, but on a hot day Brass Monkey provided a great escape for a couple quick drinks.

Yelp
I honestly enjoyed my time at Brass Monkey. They have a nice rooftop. There are several floors. The drinks are decently priced. My biggest qualm is that they changed the amount I tipped. So when I checked my credit card statement, it wasn't the amount I had on my duplicate receipt. I contacted the business about this mistake. I wanted to alert them of this potential bad faith business practice so it wouldn't happen to anyone else. However, they made a big deal about how the amount was very small and essentially tried to make me feel bad for even asking them to fix it in the first place. I personally don't recommend frequenting places that try to take advantage of you.
google avatar

Anthony P.

Yelp
Came here for the rooftop vibes and it did not disappoint. Love that it's in the West Village/Chelsea area so it's very close to the Highline a little island for you to get some walking done before or after your time here everything was pretty basic though - your standards need to be adjusted when you're going to a rooftop place. The food is not usually going to blow you away, but you will have a great time catching up with friends, and enjoying basking in the sunlight. We did pay, something around $20 for a bucket of six seltzers though. The fries scratched the itch.
google avatar

Jess B.

Yelp
Good vibes, decent price for the area. Got a blue moon. The cocktails were super small
google avatar

Estefania P.

Yelp
Great place to go watch the game, the sliders and drinks are really good. Would have liked the staff to check in on us a little more. Great place for groups can't wait to come again and check out the rooftop.
google avatar

Lina O.

Yelp
I had a great time here! The line to get inside took about 15 minutes and there was NO cover charge! They do require proof of vaccination at the front. This place has 4 floors, there is a secret bar at the base of the stairs. I would recommend getting your drinks here because it's not crowded. Each floor has different music and had a bar. As you continue to go up it gets more and more hot especially because of the crowd of people. If you keep going though you will reach a beautiful rooftop with many tables, fresh air and beautiful string lights. The rooftop is where I spent most of my time. If I ever come back to NYC I will definitely be going to brass monkey.

Yelp
Good service, good drinks, nice casual dimlit ambiance. We came a little later so only were there an hour before they closed but still had a wonderful time
google avatar

Yelp
Good food and cocktails, great ambiance. Rooftop area is fun chill spot. Service was great from our waitress.

Yelp
I went here for the first time since the pandemic recently for some drinks and a burger having been here a few times prior. Overall, a pretty good spot for happy hour on like a weekday in the Meat Packing district. It's a pretty big bar with multiple levels. Not generally a fan of places in the Meat Packing district but this place is tolerable.
google avatar

Liz T.

Yelp
I had a very nice time here with some friends! I'd been wanting to try it for a while after hearing many good things, so I was happy to finally get to come. We came during happy hour and got their house beer. We also got fries, wings, and a chicken caesar wrap. All were great! The food and drink seemed very typical bar, nothing too crazy. But you really come here for the ambiance. The vibe of this place is trendy and cozy at the same time. The staff is super helpful. I'd highly recommend for a night out!
google avatar

Matthew F.

Yelp
Drinks are very expensive. It's extremely dark inside as well. Bring a flash light to read the menu. The best staff were the food runners if I'm being completely honest.
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
I love this bar! In the summer the rooftop is awesome and in the winter, you get friendly service downstairs at the bar. I've eaten lunch here, but it's not the food I'm coming for. It's the fun bartenders and awesome champagne pours
google avatar

Yelp
Where to begin. This place notably is a bar for underage patrons. Their staff has been unprofessional for years. We have been in a few times because we frequent the neighborhood and are between stops, but to be clear it always disappoints. We stopped in tonight and my friend (who is 28) presented his out of state ID was yanked out of line. He was rudely questioned and presented sufficient evidence that he was not underage and was still treated poorly and turned away. For a bar who routinely lets in patrons under the age of 21- this is sad to see. Do better. If you're visiting NYC and find yourself in the meat packing district- go anywhere but here.
google avatar

Hien M.

Yelp
The Brass Monkey invites you to a casual relaxed atmosphere decorated with dark wood, copper and long tables where you can watch the game and gather with friends. Spread over 2 floors, there are 3 bars and a huge variety of beverages. On the rooftop, there is a beer garden with amazing sunset views of the Hudson River and New Jersey. Downside is there is no tv on the rooftop if you want to enjoy the game. Heating lamps are provided but it gets pretty windy and chilly.

Yelp
I found myself in the Meatpacking District late at night this past Saturday and joined some friends at Brass Monkey. I haven't been here in many years and was surprised to see how laid back and chill it was (probably because close to closing time). The bartender was super cool and the fellow patrons was all jovial and talkative. My group and the other group that was there merged for a bit and created a big circle consisting of of silly drinking games and jokes. My kind of fun! I'm sure during peak hours it can still get wall-to-wall busy here, so if that's your thing, go for it! For a more chill time, go on an off-night, or super late as I did.
google avatar

Prianka S.

Yelp
Eh. If you're looking for a fun night out with your friends, this is the spot if that's all you want. There's three floors which makes the bar seem cool but the second floor gets so crowded you can't even move. Otherwise, after midnight there's a $10 cover charge and after paying a cover charge you're listening to Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne which is just not my vibe. Also, really suggest the bar switches to plastic cups rather than actual glasses because people keep dropping them and they don't get cleaned up.
google avatar

Kenny C.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday night so it was busy. There was a line outside which didn't take too long. They were charging 10 bucks outside for the cover which I was not expecting. Which I also regret paying/going. The place was over packed. You could barely go upstairs or downstairs. People were shoulder to shoulder and shoving each other. A girl in our party even complained someone slapped her ass. On top of all this the male bartender on the first floor was extremely rude and honestly scary. You tell him one drink and he impatiently turns around to retrieve it and doesn't even bother to listen for the rest of the order. He then gets frustrated and angry saying you're making him go back and forth..When you explain to him that he probably didn't hear it above the music, (when in reality he gives us his back to take the rest of the order) he has the audacity to say you're accusing him of lying. To add to that he gets the drink wrong..(probably on purpose). The music was also terrible at least at the beginning of the night. Horrible remixes, right when you're getting into a song they switch it to something with a different beat. Horrible transitions between songs takes you out of the music. Towards the end of the night they must have switched DJs because it got noticeably better
google avatar

Michaela M.

Yelp
I truly enjoyed the food, but don't go here for any good bar service. The bartenders were incredibly rude and entitled, didn't know/care to make half the things they were asked for, and very much watered down the drinks. Could have been a great experience but sadly was not.
google avatar

Kristen H.

Yelp
Stopped in on a hot summer day after being on the Highline. I had hoped for some happy hour specials but we're out of luck. Three story little bar... Dark and cozy on the ground floor empty on the second floor and small rooftop area at the top floor. We were the only ones out on the rooftop. Service was not overly attentive. May be a better place for going after work with friends?

Frank C.

Yelp
Guys, don't spend $40 to get into a mediocre bar. Honestly not even worth the $10 cover they charge ladies.
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
Fantastic place for drinks and food. Location is great and the atmosphere is fun and inviting. Stop in and enjoy.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome little spot, very dark, but great atmosphere. The food and drinks were great, and service was fairly quick. Would recommend to check it out.
google avatar

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in for a quick drink and an appetizer before heading over to the new Little Island for which we had timed entry tickets for. We each had a martini and we shared a very good guacamole. The place was packed, indoors as well as outdoors, but the service was still very good. Very loud but fun place!

Yelp
Made the move to Brass Monkey on a hot Saturday afternoon, around 4pm, after the Standard Biergarten around the corner just wasn't cutting it. I had suggested it to the birthday girl since I'd been here once before and remember the chill rooftop it had upstairs. When we arrived, there were 2 large tables that were open for our group, which was JUST what we needed: seating & plenty of space. Wasn't crowded at all yet, and there was only some light music playing. We came at the perfect time to claim our spot, but since it was so hot & humid that day, we definitely felt like we were slowly melting up there... There were some curtains above us to serve as shade, but it didn't do the trick. The sun just slipped through the cracks and we were sweating like crazy, but that's not entirely Brass Monkey's fault. We easily could've just moved the party downstairs (indoors) but where's the fun in that during the summer? Loved the 80's themed cocktails, especially since the birthday girl just so happens to be a 80's fanatic. I got the Pretty In Pink Gin ($14) while everyone else got the Purple Rain Lemonade (also $14) for Round 1. They were super refreshing and perfect for the hot summer day. Someone later bought a bucket of Coronas to share - another summer classic. Our server provided great service and was accommodating towards our large group, which kept on getting bigger as birthday girl's friends started trickling in through the evening. Great vibes all around.

Yelp
This is a great chill bar in the meatpacking district. The rooftop is perfect if you want to sit outside, there is not much of a view but the ambiance is cool. On the hot humid day that we went we preferred to sit indoors and the first floor bar is perfect if you want to watch any sports.

Yelp
Outstanding staff and amazing atmosphere....... The art in the bathroom!!!!!!!! The beer is cold and the rooftop view is beyond compare
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here so many times at night for drinks but it's also amazing during the daytime! The rooftop area is perfect for a sunny day. The food is excellent, we got the nachos, buffalo wings, and mozzarella sticks. The drinks are always great also and the bartenders are super friendly! I definitely recommend to come here for daytime lunch or even late at night after dinner!

Yelp
Have you ever made the journey from Flushing to the Meatpacking district via subway? It's long to say the least, and one would like to be rewarded at the end of such a trip with a cold beverage in the warm embrace of a well-known bar and its patrons. Alas, this was not the case when I finally arrived at The Brass Monkey. After being made to wait with no explanation, the bouncer called over back up to check my very real drivers license that very truly stated I am over the age of 21. The back-up bouncer took the identification from my hand and gave it a once over. A smug smile appeared on his lips as he denied me entry, just deciding that he knew more about IDs than the person handing him his very real one. I recommend you spend your time else where and Go Next Door, the aptly bar right next door to the Brass Monkey. It's fabulous and the staff will actually treat you like a human being.

Zach B.

Yelp
I've never written a review but this circumstance was so ridiculous I had to share. The bouncers were incredibly rude and disrespectful. They all were unfamiliar with my out of state Ohio drivers license, assumed it was fake, and told me to get lost. The best part of this situation is that I am 28 years old and this bar is notoriously known for letting in teenagers and underage kids. Laughable is an understatement. But hey, I'll take that as a compliment bc if i'm 28 and being mistaken for an 18 year old, the skin care routine is paying off!
google avatar

Jenna S.

Yelp
This bar was just disappointing. We were in the mood for drinks and stumbled upon Brass Monkey because most of the other bars around had very long waits on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, it made sense why they didn't have a wait. Each person was required to order a number of drinks and an entree each. We had a giant dinner so this wasn't the best news, but we had already been seated. So we ordered a few appetizers but they were all pretty bad. The drinks were okay, but we were put off by the servers constantly pressuring us to order more drinks. It wasn't the most pleasant experience.
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
Wasn't allowed because I allegedly looked "too drunk" despite being sober. Was with a group of 12 people. We all left.
google avatar

Golbarg A.

Yelp
The MOST rude bartender I have ever seen in my life. First of all he told us that the minimum amount to spend at that bar was $20, this was in August 2021. Then when I asked him for another drink, like "hey can I have this drink?" he said in a very nasty way that not if I don't say please. I didn't mean not to say please at all, I just forgot. Then we started an argument and he kept showing me middle finger and being nasty while following us outside of the bar!!!! Unfortunately the man in front of the door didn't tell me the name of that bartender. He had black hair and had an accent. Hopefully the management sees my review and considers more carefully who they are hiring for this position. they should be polite, nice, patient and welcoming overall and not be ready to pick a fight over nothing with their customers!
google avatar

Mitch W.

Yelp
Crowded on a Friday night. Good music, attentive and friendly bartenders. Lots of interns and college students during the summer.
google avatar

Nathena D.

Yelp
This was my first time coming to this place and I was drinking Arizona tea before I walked in. They saw me drinking and so when we got into the line, they declined us because "they saw us drinking something." Don't go here. Literally trash. As if we weren't going to buy drinks inside... Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. You're welcome :)
google avatar

Yelp
Waitress added additional tip to herself! My friends and I were having a really lovely time at brass monkey this past week, bur our night was turned sour quickly by our waitress who was visibly irritated that we were not ordering endless rounds (it was a Wednesday people). After leaving a 10% tip out of respect to the establishment I am now SHOCKED to see that it seems this waitress #205 added herself an extra amount of tip for herself as reflected in my bank statement. I'm glad I took a pictures of the receipt with my actual tip amount and total before leaving just so I could get my friends to Venmo me later. I'm sad to have to write this, but after calling BM 3 times I'm not really sure who I should reach out to to resolve this. Super disheartening :(
