The Best Coffeeshops in Jacksonville, Florida | Eater Miami

"Brass Tacks Coffee started as a roaster inside Spring Park Coffee and has now expanded to its own standalone coffee shop on Southside Boulevard. The menu here is filled with all of the classic coffee shop drinks, but the signature creations continue to draw locals in. One such drink is the Florida Man Style, which is a choice of flavor combinations with four espresso shots. For something a little tamer, consider the Island Boy, a mix of dark chocolate, coconut, and macadamia nut flavors."

Such a lovely corner! Coffee is bold and so smooth 😌 we had the chai latte very good too, withba crumble cake that was sooooo goodddd!!! I also got a bag of coffee beans for at home experience 😋

Seaside Beauty Bar

Google
Jacksonville’s best coffee spot! I highly recommend the iced coffee with oat milk and honey. The barista made my day with a sweet surprise: a thoughtful message written on my cup. Little things like that make all the difference!

Google
It’s true what they say, they do have one of Jacksonvilles best home made biscuits. Me and my boyfriend come here typically during breakfast and get a classic biscuit sandwich and they are great! The only issue is making sure you get one before they sell out! 😆

Google
Visited this place once before, and really enjoyed the coffee and atmosphere of this coffee shop. The Signature Creations French toast blended and the hot Sweet -n-Salty coffee were made very well and were delicious. I didn't care for the coffee cake. I liked this place, but not the parking lot. When you visit, make sure not to park anywhere directly in front of the coffee shop. The drive-thru line of cars, that's right next to the shop with no outlet, blocks you from leaving if you are trying to get out. I'd recommend parking in the far back or an adjacent lot then walk there. Other than that, it's definitely worth a try, great staff, and they were super nice and upbeat.

Google
Definitely one of the best cafes in Jacksonville. Very strategically located, it is in the midst of bunch of unassuming restaurants. Love this place, has the vibe what could be a huge chain yet also feels extremely local. Coffee is amazing, you can tell they really care about quality and blessing us with so many unique types of lattes from the butter beer one to the lavender truffle hot chocolate. Never a miss here and great place to work when it’s not super busy, which is pretty often! Also has cool merch, a drive thru, and bunch of cool skater boy type decor haha

Google
The florida man coffee is smooth and tastes great. It’s a nice pick me up after data logging the smooth MCB tune for my toyota. Definitely recommend stopping in if you’re in the area.

Google
The coffee here is great! They use good beans. I had the Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte and loved it. The breakfast sandwich was very yummy as well. They were already sold out of biscuits so if you’re looking for those come early! They also do not have the burritos anymore.

Google
You guys are out of fresh biscuits 50% of the time by 10-11am…I realize they are good and go fast, but why not make more?? Is this a small oven problem or a cooking/logistics issue??? Would love to know and not hope or have to call in advance if the breakfast biscuit place actually has biscuits when I visit. I was told they were out of fresh biscuits, but for some reason had about 8 in the window with the desserts. I was told these were yesterday’s biscuits and could be heated up, but obviously would prefer a fresh one made the same day I visit. I would add a photo, but half the time I leave here empty-handed. Like today.

Yelp
DELICIOUS - 10/10 no notes. But I will give some notes for you all since this is a review. Their signature drinks are veryyy sweet so warning if you don't like sugary drinks (I do tho). And their biscuits are phenomenal! Highly recommend the Rex

Yelp
I'm updating my review from over four years ago and am thrilled to say that Brass Tacks remains nothing but one of the most outstanding coffee shops I've experienced anywhere! This is my third visit since returning to JAX a few months ago. Have to say Brass Tacks is a coffee outlet where consistency and persistence pays off! It looks the same inside, the menus look the same, the cups still tell us to "Stay Sharp!" And the service and coffee (I mostly do lattes) remain among the best in the coffee business! I recommend you try the "Kings of Summer" beverages that were just released! I had the "Island Girl" today and it was fabulous! If you like the white chocolate, macadamia, coconut combo, this beverage is perfect for you! A final reason why Brass Tacks is one of my all time faves is that they consistently take risks in creativity with their beverages and seem to always succeed! Great work Brass Tacks! Recommend: HIGHEST

Yelp
The drinks are excellent. The staff is always friendly and quick to make the orders perfectly. The shop was filled but not crowded. Many coffee dates, people working or studying individually, and nice drive thru. There's plenty of space to get comfy and enjoy your time.

Yelp
The standout thing about this place is the amazing service and people who work there! I went there on a Saturday morning and was so happy to see a drive thru. I got an iced latte with vanilla and oat milk and a bagel with egg and cheese. I did order an everything bagel, but got a plain bagel instead, but I didn't mind that too much. The coffee was great! The food was a little simple for my liking, but I know that some people prefer that. It is made with fresh ingredients so that's a plus! If I was rating this place on food and drink alone, it would probably be 3 stars. But, the customer service was so great and they really went out of their way to be friendly and helpful that I'm boosting it to four stars!

Yelp
This was my go-to coffee place in Jax when I visited, located in Southside. I've only been to a handful of coffee places while in town but this is definitely a top coffee spot in the area for me. Good coffee, ample seating, and a cute color scheme/interior. If you're in the mood for some bites, they do serve some breakfast. You can work from here, catch up with a friend or grab some coffee to-go through the drive thru window!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I love that they have a drive though! My favorites are the iced vanilla latte and the Vietnamese coffee. They are always quick and friendly. When I go inside they are always busy. They have a few tables outside. A nice little coffee shop in the Tinseltown area.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
First time going here and i have to aay, i was impressed. Nice, clean, little coffee shop. Had a good variety of options and not overwhelming. I got the vietnamese iced coffee. It was great. The size was about the size of a small hot coffee. The flavor was great, aervice was fast (i went early on a sunday so it wasnt busy). This has become my new spot for coffee. Ditch starbucks. There are much better coffee places out there, and this is one of them

Karen S.

Yelp
My matcha was a little too milky for my liking. Also I came here to study and there aren't any comfy tables and chairs really. Stools with no backs and metal furniture was less than inviting. Also they seemed to be out of a lot of the pastries at the time I went.

Yelp
My daughter and I was looking for a place to hang out in Southside Blvd while waiting for my other kid and we saw Brass Tacks Coffee . They have a lot of coffee choices. We ordered Cafe Mocha and White Chocolate latte . I am satisfied with my Cafe mocha because it's not so sweet but perfect. Best place to relax reading your favorite book while drinking your favorite coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
Trendy breakfast spot! Traveling from out of town and saw Brass Tacks had great breakfast reviews. We had "The Classic" breakfast sandwiches on a biscuit and they were delicious. The biscuits were soft and sweet which complimented the Turkey sausage egg and cheese perfectly. Cold brew coffee was also great. Very affordable - breakfast sandwiches were about $6. Plenty of parking and a good amount of seating inside. They also have a drive thru if you don't want to dine-in.
google avatar

Kristina N.

Yelp
What a fun place to grab coffee at. They have so many options, great food, and even have a drive through option.
google avatar

Bailee A.

Yelp
Coffee is always solid and their avocado toast is amazing. The service is nothing crazy but it gets the job done, love the fact they have a drive thru! The decor and vibe is really spot on for what they were going for! Great place to study or catch up with a friend at!

Yelp
I travel often to Jacksonville for work from Orlando and have struggled to find a coffee shop other than Starbucks that I can rely on. I found Brass Tacks when I was looking for a central location to host some college admission interviews. I wanted to stake it out beforehand, and it ended up being my home base for the entire week. I'm addicted to something called a Hologram Panda which is a lavender matcha - who would have thought? They've got a wide variety of latte concoctions of varying flavors, my notable favorite being the Nutty Irishman (hazelnut and irish cream). Food is also amazing - fresh bagel sandwiches and scratch biscuits that are to die for. Definitely try a biscuit with pimento or the lean & green bagel. Also a great place to do some work - plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor with a good playlist. Never too busy but also never empty. Everything about this place is my favorite. So glad to finally have a favorite coffee shop in Jax!

Yelp
I love Brass Tacks Coffee! It's definitely a place I will miss living close to since I moved away from Southside. Their coffee is definitely made to keep you sharp! There's nothing worse than a watered down iced coffee and that's something you won't get at Brass Tacks. I also really love the unique variety of flavors to choose from. I highly recommend ordering one of their signature creations! If the coffee isn't reason enough to love Brass Tacks, then their biscuit sandwich will for sure win you over. Delicious, housemade, flaky biscuit loaded with perfectly cooked thick cut bacon, folded egg and creamy pimento cheese - OMG. One of the best breakfast sandwiches ever! When the weather permits, grab a table outside. It's a lovely place to enjoy a little breakfast!
google avatar

Nata M.

Yelp
It's a must stop! Coffee for real connoisseurs. We stopped on the way to Savannah, and the place was cozy. The line moved fast! The quality of drinks and pastries was superb!
google avatar

Yelp
Love Brass Tacks! Favorite coffee shop. They have great coffee and food. They're quick, cheap and super friendly! My go-to is the Iced Vanilla Latte with Oat Milk - delicious. The store keeps up with the holidays and always decorated accordingly, especially for Jags season. Great place to grab a coffee or beer and hang out and get some work done. 10/10

Emily M.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in all of Jacksonville. Such a nice vibe with great signature lattes (though very sweet, which I personally love). The employees are great as well!
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
This is one of me and my fiancés favorite coffee shops in Jax. They have the best seasonal options and their food is so good and filling! The service is quick and the decor is so unique.

Joliena B.

Yelp
Nutty Irishman is my fave! I tried the sausage biscuit which are made in store and I think I could've put jelly or something on it to make it a bit more moist but I mean it's not going to be perfect each time. But definitely 10/10 on service and coffees!

Yelp
Looking for a breakfast place before we watch an early bird movie and spotted this coffee shop just across Tinseltown. Glad we found this hip spot. Very cool looking, nicely themed interior with gray, black and yellow colors and it looks like it's skateboarding inspired restaurant. The food were awesome especially the biscuits which were freshly made. Pimiento cheese on the breakfast sandwich was unique and surprisingly good combo. We found a nice hang out place if we do another matinee at Tinseltown.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
You had me at biscuits and pimiento cheese. And the biscuit sandwich did not disappoint. Was happy to wait five minutes while more biscuits came out of the oven. My Fiancé took a dive for the fluffer nutter waffles. Woo they are sooooo sweet. If you happen to have any left they are great heated up in the microwave for 20 seconds or so. Must love peanut butter and marshmallows for those. Love the creativity in flavors here! I feel like they need a flight of iced coffees so we can try some of the more exotic ones :)

Bethany S.

Yelp
I love this place, I found out about them because of their little shop in green cove springs called spring park coffee. Amazing people, amazing shops and amazing coffee!!
google avatar

Chase F.

Yelp
I'd make a pun about getting coffee here but I haven't bean myself lately. Anyways looking for a pick me up outside of your Starbucks/ Dunkin rotation? Well here it is! These brews aren't your average cup of joe! A menu full of awesome flavor combinations that will have you wondering why you've only just sucked down plain lattes your whole life. Try the French toast iced coffee!
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
Daughter in Law just brought me one of their Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Wow it is better than another place which I won't mention. Delicious!

Michelle S.

Yelp
Great little hidden gem right off of Southside Blvd. Cinnamon roll with coffee is delicious
google avatar

Julissa S.

Yelp
Very big expresso can we went here and to several Other coffee shops this one stood out the most. Got iced latte with oat milk and simple syrup coffee was nice and strong not too sweet perfect iced lattes.

Emily H.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops - I visit every time I'm in Southside. The coffee is great and so is the staff!
google avatar

Sheila L.

Yelp
Whenever we travel we always try to find a local coffee shop in the city we're in. For Jacksonville it was Brass tacks! We wish we could clone brass tacks & have them in every city that's how much we liked them! Highly recommend the island boy and the nutty Irishmen! Get them iced & Florida man style! Staff is efficient & nice & coffee is great! Brass tacks does it right! If you order a flavored latte you can taste the flavor! Can't say enough good things! The few times we were in there on this trip we got our coffee to go but it always seemed quiet, like it would be a good place to get some work done! They are also open on Sundays & open early on Saturdays which is super convenient! We look forward to hitting up brass tacks next time we're in JAX.

Brooke H.

Yelp
Love this place! Been in Jacksonville for Vacation for 2 weeks and have visited 5 times! The quality and customer service has been top notch every time. Going to miss Brass Tacks when I have to go back home.
google avatar

Virginie L.

Yelp
On my usual Saturday coffee run I found this place thanks to my Yelp family. Such a cute spot as you approach with the yellow umbrellas, inside is equally unique and so bright, if this place does not make you smile just go back to bed. Anyway.... the two guys at the counter made me feel very welcomed. I ordered the iced "White Pumpkin" basically white mocha but with pumpkin flavoring after all its fall This drink is so delicious you must try it especially if you're like me and love white mocha. I will be adding this to my list of coffee shops!!
google avatar

Kiryl M.

Yelp
Pretty neat cafe. More than enough space for those who like to hang out or get stuff done at the cafe. Very reasonably priced compared to other cafes. Clean A+++. Employees are super friendly. They do have a drive thru!
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I just moved to the area and we are in love, this is the local coffee shop I have been searching for all these years. I haven't tried anything I didn't like and highly suggest the specialty flavors they have outlined on the menu. The associates are so nice every time and there are a few that just light up my day with every interaction. A must try!

Garrett M.

Yelp
Great spot. Drive through/indoor/outdoor seating. Fair prices and quality brews. Friendly staff and patrons
google avatar

Jessica J.

Yelp
Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to love Brass Tacks, my experience here was disappointing. I ordered a caramel macchiato with oat milk via the drive through. Not only was the caramel omitted, but it seemed as if the oat milk wasn't fresh, giving my drink a somewhat sour taste. The person at the drive through was friendly though. That was appreciated. Unfortunately, I pulled off and traveled a bit of a distance and it was impractical for me to turn around and re-visit the drive through for a beverage correction due to my schedule.
google avatar

Laicy H.

Yelp
Coffee was great! We tried ordering a sausage, egg and biscuit but unfortunately they had just run out of biscuits so we opted for a tortilla instead. I wasn't a huge fan of the sausage style they had. It wasn't a patty, and it was very greasy so eating it inside a tortilla was terribly messy. But the overall taste was good. Will come back to try the biscuits.
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down the best coffee shop in town. The workers are all great minus the one blonde w/ mustache guy that acts like it would just pain him to smile or speak kindly. BUT I won't stop going! Best coffee ever, I can't even drink any other coffee .The Rex breakfast sandwich is heavenly. I get a vanilla latte, I recommend ! My friends have all tried the pumpkin latte and said it was great as well! It's skater vibes inside but super cute!
google avatar

Joe K.

Yelp
Unlike other places I've visited and won't mention where every time you visit the coffee tastes different. Brass Tacks is consistently amazing. And now it's one of the closest shops to my work. I have had a few different drinks and they were all delicious. I'd def suggest anything that stands out as unique or unusual and diving in mouth first. BT has never let me down in the flavor category.

Ashley C.

Yelp
Customer service was terrible. The guy taking my order acted like i was bothering him with my order. had an attitude with the 2 questions i asked, which i had never been there before... hence my 2 questions lol it was a cute little place, but the breakfast bagel sandwich & matcha latte i ordered was mediocre. I personally wouldn't go back
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in today for a quick cup of coffee to go on my way to work. Place was not very crowded due to the odd hour I went (5pm). It is located off Southside Blvd and has a small drive through that turns down to the Publix parking lot behind the business. The business has high top seating and comfortable looking chairs to sit in. The staff were friendly and greeted me promptly. The young lady took my order without any problems and delivered my coffee promptly. They also have a selection of pastries at the front counter (the blackberry danish looked really good but I passed due to it being close to dinner time). My coffee was fresh and hot. I ordered it with cream and they place the cream in it for you so you don't have to go look for the stuff. Will stop for a cup again in the future.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
I just adore Brass Tacks. I've been coming for years and they make an Iced Matcha Latte that is almost too good to beat. It is very rare that I'm not completely in love with my drinks from Brass Tacks, and if I'm not, the employees are always super helpful to help make it better! I do miss their vegan chicken tenders though... those were an amazing snack when on the go. They had some seriously addictive vegan ranch. Would love it if they could bring these back! More vegan options are always welcomed so I'd love to see a few more veg-friendly eats on the menu! All in all, just head over to Brass Tacks if you're in need of some caffeine. They have a very convenient drive-thru if you're in a rush! There's a slope on the way out so take it slow unless you're looking to go on a mini roller coaster.
google avatar

Evelyn G.

Yelp
Place had a trendy atmosphere with the checker board flooring and yellow and gray color schemed walls and decor. However, they could get rid of the cob webs on the light fixtures. I feel like it could fall into my food if I were sitting under it. I didn't realize when I ordered the eggs with the sausage links the links were going to be cut up and mixed with my eggs. The eggs seemed a little overcooked at first but the overall meal was tasty. Had the Mexican coffee. It was not as spicy as I thought it would be, but still good.
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
Love the coffee here, creative and always good. So I always make a point to stop here if I'm in the area. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They sure make it cool and fun. They have Seasonal Menus and some of their coffees changes every week. It's surfer/skater themed. Nice place to meet up and hang out, just chill while having some good coffee. And every day, before you enter this shop, they have this "Free Coffee...Name of the Day" board. Pay attention to it, your name may be it. And who wouldn't love a free coffee? I'm still waiting for my name to be on that board or perhaps I missed it already. I mean, Jay is a common name people. The Baristas often scoffs at me; they cannot be fooled. I tried..telling them my name was Valerie, Christine, Asia, Debra...just to get that free coffee. It has not worked for me. And that's when I decided to throw the blonde wig away. So if you're in the area, stop by and check them out. And if you don't feel like going inside, they have a Drive-Thru. I'd recommend not wearing a wig though ;)
google avatar

Kimberly H.

Yelp
My favorite local coffee shop! Kind staff with smiling faces and delicious seasonal menus!
google avatar

Precious R.

Yelp
This place was okay, it's not a place to sit and read because of the loud AC. The employees weren't that friendly in my opinion. I won't go back

April R.

Yelp
Amazing coffee and service . I had the s'mores latte. A cute place. Definitely coming back here
google avatar

Shante A.

Yelp
Just like many reviews, your first time finding this coffeeshop might be a challenge. So, here's a hint - they are on the left side Arby's if you are traveling on Southside Blvd. If you are in the plaza they are a little more noticeable (across the Publix parking lot.) My I gave up on searching for Brass Tacks during my first trip. But, with a little more determination and after reading Carla D.'s review - I found them on my second trip. It wasn't until my third and most recent trip that I realized their drive-thru customer service is spot-on. Sounds as if I am listening to a commercial but, there's a real person speaking to me on the other end. LOL!
google avatar

Yelp
Today was my first time visiting. The workers are so friendly and helpful and helped me find a yummy coffee. I ended up getting a thin mint cold latte. It was perfect not too much mint. I also got scrambled eggs with cheese, a side of avocado, bacon and fruit. This was a lot of food for $7ish!! The bacon was perfect not too crispy. Everything was delicious! I'll definitely be back. Oh and they have a drive thru which is an awesome bonus!

Gracianna H.

Yelp
This was some of the best coffee ever! Staff were super friendly, quick service, nice atmosphere! Will definitely be back next time I'm in Jacksonville!

Yelp
Oh, to get some coffee we go, high ho, high ho, high ho. Oh, to meeting new friends we go, high ho, high ho, high ho. Oh, where should we go, but to brass tacks coffee we go, high ho, high ho, high ho. Today, after work, I went to meet up with two of the sweetest elite members, Rebecca and Ron. I have to say, they are the cutest and funniest duo I have met here on yelp. A real entertainment! It was a pleasure meeting you both! Thank you for welcoming me to the elite squad team. I greatly appreciate it! As for the coffee place itself, the place is very easy to find. The interior design is modern and sheek! The yellow chairs that they have really stood out to me the most. For some reason it reminds me of jekyll and hyde. Why does it remind me of that, I have no idea; I'm weird like that, hahaha. But perhaps of the contrast in color. I ordered the peppermint mocha cappuccino and double chocolate muffin. When my order was ready, I was excited to try it! I have to admit, my first sip of the cappuccino wasn't that great and I was hesitant about it. There wasn't much of a peppermint taste at all. I felt a little disappointed. However, I gave it another sip, and my oh my, it just got better. So I took another sip, and was like man, this is good stuff, and chugged it down! Good coffee can't get wasted you know? Would have been a crime if it was! As for the double chocolate muffin, muy bien! Perfectly made for chocolate lovers! I don't know what they have in that muffin, but one bite felt like I was in chocolate heaven! It was very soft and moist and you can really taste the chocolate. It was very well balanced; not too sweet, not too bland, and not too heavy on the stomach. A perfect size muffin. Overall, I would definitely come back here again! Next time, I will try other flavor cappuccinos and lattes. Everything looks and sounds delicious! If you ever happen to be in the area, I recommend you give this place a try.

Yelp
After an appointment on this side of town, I wanted to grab a coffee on a rainy/chilly day in Jax. I did a Yelp search and what popped up but, Brass Tacks. I've been wanting to try this place, so I put the address in my GPS (thank goodness for GPS, due to me being awful with directions) and found Brass Tacks in a jiff (ok, that's a little far fetched. I actually had a bit of a problem finding it, due to my lack of direction, I digress). I walked into this coffee house and it was cool and modern. Bright yellow seats and hues of gray surround you. I was a little bummed to see that all the chairs with backs were taken, but I grabbed a hightop table and then placed my order at the counter. I checked out their seasonal specials and was intrigued by two drinks: The Biscoff (I LOVE Biscoff cookies) and the Maple Vanilla Latte. I asked the baristas which one they recommended...they both had two different answers, but stated if you don't want too sweet, go with the Maple Vanilla, so I that's what I chose. I took a sip and it was good, but wasn't exactly what I was expecting. Maybe it was the vanilla that threw me off. Next time, I'll be trying their Biscoff (if it's still a special). Pros: -Free wifi -Variety of coffee drinks on the menu -Friendly staff -Drive thru Cons: -I don't think I'm a vanilla fan Tips: Don't always trust your GPS.
