"The former Astoria Cinema, which dates from the 1870s, has been carefully restored and now boasts a bustling brasserie with all the glamour and opulence of yesteryear. Sit at the counter to watch the chefs at work; quality produce is used to create flavoursome modern brasserie classics with the odd Asian influence." - Michelin Inspector

5 stars across given price and what you get for it. Fantastic place for family, couples, or a nice business lunch or dinner. Professionalism in every aspect of all guest interaction, should probably not call it “the little brother of Franzén” because that is the 3🌟, but this is so good, accessible and just an amazing dining experience nevertheless. I’ve done lunches, dinners, business and family here and we will always come back.

Absolutely loved this place. It was a long time I wanted to visit but somehow haven’t in last 7 years. Now when I went I was happily surprised. Such a nice decor, ultra upbeat vibe and such good food. Absolutely loved the cocktails. By the bar sitting was also so much fun and it was great to see these lovely bartenders making awesome drinks. Food was top notch, even loved the garlic bread that came, it was so super yummm. Absolutely worth going a place. I am definitely visiting again for proper dinner I visited it next time, it was a Sunday and everything changed. Atmosphere was dull and empty. And the service was shockingly bad. Host was super lousy. We got a side table. I asked to move us to the bar and then no one came attending us for our order or giving us menus. A bartender looked at us and gave us menus.Such poor service, super super super disappointed this time

We had and excellent meal here. Great menu, lots of very good wine by the glass, and absolutely amazing service. Went here with my daughter who has celiac disease and the staff was so attentive. She gets really sick even with cross contamination and very seldom feels safe, but here they are in total control and she had one of the best restaurant experiences so far. Thank you so much🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

It is a superb restaurant with a large space, colorful decorations, and delicious food. Of course, we had to pay that much. :) And there are a variety of foods such as food, fish, meat, and vegetable dishes, which are good for sharing with colleagues and family members. As a foreigner, I was recommended more Swedish typical food by my Swedish colleague, and his choice is Raraka for starter and Steak Frites for the main, and it was excellent for me. And my colleague ordered a cognac flamed beef tenderloin, and the event of grilling beef by lighting it right in front of us was fascinate me.

Brasserie Astoria is a stunning blend of elegance and warmth. The ambiance is classy yet cozy, the food is absolutely delicious with every dish thoughtfully prepared, and the service is attentive and genuinely welcoming. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish.

Where do I even begin? We decided to stop by for lunch without a reservation, thinking we’d try our luck. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge letdown. Getting a table wasn’t an issue, though if you don’t have a reservation, expect to be seated in less desirable spots—like beside the staircase. Service was fine: we got water, menus, and placed our order without much hassle. The atmosphere inside was pleasant enough, especially on a rainy day. But the food? A disaster. I ordered the flank steak, and my husband had the fish. My steak was completely inedible—tough, chewy, and full of tendons. I couldn’t even swallow it. The fact that they charge such a premium for something so poorly prepared is absurd. I’ve had far better steak for lunch at similar prices elsewhere in the area—this felt like robbery. My husband’s fish dish looked nice but was completely bland and forgettable. What added to the overall unpleasant experience was the vibe. Looking around, the place felt more style than substance—lots of people trying too hard to look the part. Heavy makeup, obvious fillers and Botox, and a general sense of pretense. The men gave off that snobbish air but lacked any real character. It just didn’t feel like a place that values genuine hospitality or good food. I’ve heard from my colleagues who are Stockholmers that Astoria can be hit or miss. For us, it was a total miss—and one we won’t repeat.

A well oiled machine! Friday 16th of May 2025 9:20 pm during a busy service I didn’t expect them to answer the phone, but they did! And I was fortunate to get a bar table for one. Overlooking the open kitchen, close to the grill. Reception was great, and even though I was alone I was taken great care of. The staff was friendly and very attentive to details. They took their time, and never felt rushed. Energy in the kitchen was great, and I just sat and watched the whole service go by for two hours. They seemed to have a great time and the team was really in sync, impressive to see! I made sure to acknowledge them from afar with a simple gesture at the end, and it was well received with a smile. The waiters were very smooth too. One of them was going to deliver a small birthday celebration to a smaller table behind me, but saw there were plates to clean, so he quickly put the plate down and put out the candle behind a corner. And then continued afterwards. The guests had no idea. I was served by several waiters and even managers during the night, but it felt like they were all in sync. Quite impressive, how busy the service was. Behind me was a big table, of maybe 14 young adults. And they were taken good care of. So big or small, they do deliver! It was not the first time for me to visit, and it will not be the last. Keep it up! 🔥 PS: the only reason the food was not a 5. I had Chick & Chips before several times (it’s a classic on the menu), and this time there was two things that could improve from previous iterations. 1) the orange Astoria hot sauce was more diluted this time and not as sticky, concentrated and spicy as usual which I prefer. The old one just had more flavor! 2) Only one of the three thinly sliced vegetables had a slight pickle on it (the yellow one), the celeriac and the carrot was very mild. Together with the sweet sauce and the fatty Fourme d’Ambert cheese and deep fried chicken, they could all be pickled.
