Brasserie Bernard

We got the veal ravioli, scallops, and a dozen oysters. The scallops and ravioli needed the slightest touch more of salt, it felt missing. The meal did not “wow” me, it was expensive ($60 per person) and nothing filled us up. The sauces made the food yummy. I did not like the Apple shreds on the scallops meal. The scallop sauces were phenomenal.

The service and atmosphere were excellent and the staff were great and very nice, but unfortunately the food has no taste and overpriced comparing the quality. I ordered Poulet méditerranéenne and it was so far from Mediterranean taste and has no taste at all, My friends also were not satisfied with the fish and chips and steak. Unfortunately we are going to miss the nice staff there.

We gave this resto a second chance, after sandy mussels the last time. Our evening on the terrace this time, with guests, was a total success, EXCEPT the spaghettini with clams was a major flop. More like a soup, very liquid, with not much pasta and clams you really had to hunt for. Not enough food for an adult man, and hugely disappointing! The waitress with glasses was superb, and the buzzy atmosphere on the terrace, on a beautiful spring evening, was delightful. The bad main course really spoiled it, however.

One of my favourite restaurants in the city! Nestled just outside the business of downtown Montreal in the corner of Outremont is this gem of a restaurant (parking is certainly more accessible than going downtown! ) The ambiance is beautiful and the service is friendly, professional and efficient. As a huge fan of seafood I've indulged in some of the most appreciated dishes I have come by: seabass, salmon, oysters and in true brasserie style, their delicious fish and chips (and considering the Mile End has several incredible seafood spots this is saying alot!) As a professional cheesemonger I must also mention their cheese selection is nice. Local cheeses from Quebec and usually an offering of a variety of milks; I was proud to see Hercule from Laiterie Charlevoix (cow milk) and as well as Pave de L'Atelier (one of the artisanal goat cheese makers in St Elizabeth de Warwick) Long story short, indulge at this amazing restaurant!

Everything in terms of ambience, cleanliness, level of service and friendliness of service staff was outstanding, but the fish and chips I ordered could have been much better for the price I paid. The fries were over-cooked so had a ting of bitterness towards the finish, the fish itself and other accompaniments were fine. The presentation could have also been better. As you can see, it looks very crowded as if done in a rush. Since the food is an essential part of the experience at a restaurant, I am giving this place 3 out of 5.

The food is excellent so is the service. We ate a full course so appetizer , main dish and dessert and a cocktail. It was all good, great suggestions + the bill wasn’t that bad.

Food is mediocre at best. Like for the price you charge , I cook the same at my house. Service is respectful and good. Big wine list available. Verdict : not sure it is worth trying it. Maybe the cook had a bad day, or maybe not...

Octopus was amazing. All the food was great. Brasserie Bernard in Montreal offers exceptional food and service. The menu features a variety of delicious dishes, and the staff are attentive and friendly. Highly recommended!
