A classic French brasserie in the heart of Grenoble
La Brasserie Chavant is a wonderful old brasserie located right in the center of Grenoble, carrying on a long family tradition of master chefs dating back to 1852. The place has a real sense of history and charm, while still feeling welcoming and lively.
The menu is mainly French and very well executed. The food is excellent overall — the steak tartare is particularly good, and the desserts are a real highlight. The caramelized pain perdu is absolutely delicious and worth coming for on its own.
Service is pleasant and could be improved, but it runs smoothly, making the experience enjoyable. Only the welcome at the entrance is missing with a young asian person. It is still a great spot for anyone looking for classic French cuisine in a beautiful, traditional setting.
It is recommended.
