A spontanous visit on a late Sunday afternoon, our first. And we were really pleasantly surprised. The food was great (mac & chees and Croque Monsieur), the atmosphere was classy and they even got the music perfectly right, playing Gypsy Jazz. We will be back!

This place was outstanding. I love French cuisine and my family and I decided to give this place a shot. Mom is a French Onion Soup fanatic and they nailed it. The steak tartare was some of the best I've had. The lobster mac....do it! You taste the lobster flavor right out the gate in every bite. My braised lamb shank was a total win. The duck my gf had was also delish. The owner / chef was very hospitable and the service was also good. We have all decided already this will be another family dinner and already know what we will be having for next visit. Would recommend 10/10.

Cute French bistro, traditional menu, with German Oktoberfest specials. Got the French onion soup, frisée salad and cassoulet. TV’s to watch sports too! Awesome staff, great dinner

Peter and I had an excellent New Year’s Dinner. Alain & his staff are professional & very welcoming. We had oysters & caviar, pate stuffed with duck, filet mignon with the most delicious french fries, colorful & tasteful palette of fresh vegetables. Good wine & great atmosphere. It’s our favorite restaurant in Nyack, NY. Absolument extraordinaire, je vous le recommande. Louise

Google
finally came for restaurant week and I really enjoyed myself! I chose from a limited, prix fixe menu for the occasion but I was pleased because I had things I wouldn’t normally try and they were great! I had the asparagus and leek soup, the mussels steamed in cream sauce, and vanilla caramel flan. I wasn’t stuffed at the end but pleasantly full, and my server was especially lovely- he was so kind and friendly (I came by myself) and chatted with me for a bit but also left me to enjoy my book. I just really had a great time here enjoying my own company, great food, and a beautiful ambience of music and people watching. I am so looking forward to coming back. (Also probably the best frites I’ve ever had in my whole life)

Google
Delish! My hubs and I went for dessert and after dinner drinks one evening and the deserts were wonderful. The cheesecake was perfect and the fruit on it was amazingly fresh. We ended up back the next morning for brunch and sat in the sunny windows on a cold and brisk morning, you could ask for a better vibe.

Google
Absolutely delicious. I brought my 20 yr old who is starting to explore international food with a desire to taste new things. We shared a whole variety of appetizers and entrees, and everything that graced our palettes was extraordinary. The owners (unbeknownst to us) were sitting behind us and were engaging and inquisitive as to how we were enjoying everything. (not overly intrusive, just making sure our experience was enjoyable) Great good, amazing atmosphere, and attentive staff. I highly recommend a trip to Nyack's French gem

Google
While it wasn't bad, per se, the food and service reflected a certain degree of indifference. We came for a family birthday, and were surprised to see the restaurant empty save for one regular (who was coughing heavily close to us). The scallops, for $40, were not great in terms of quantity or quality. The duck confit and bouillabaisse were OK. The creme brûlée was very good, and our waiter was nice, but everything was quite slow, and we didn't even get our water refilled. Overall, not a great meal. We just expected better.

Yelp
This is a restaurant that blatantly charged customers 3% for using a credit card. It is the NYS LAW that any such charge needed to be prominently posted at the premises so customers are aware of it and make the choice in payment. No signs were posted anywhere when we entered. Upon bill payment, we noticed the 3% on the bill. When questioned over the credit card charge, the moment respond was that they will be taken off if payment was made in cash. He was shown the NYS. Law. But this is what happened:1 1. He quietly sneaked out to post a make shift sign on the window outside, which was not there when we enrered 2. When we paid in cash, the 3% was not reimbursed! We will report it to NYS consumer's affair and the AG website to complain of the violation.

Yelp
i feel like nyack just has the best little hidden gem restaurants in the area. came here recently on a sunday for brunch/lunch and walking in -- wasn't sure what to expect. sure the reviews are good, but there weren't too many of them. and i'm not quite sure why! this place is great. it's a bit larger on the inside than you'd think, it goes pretty far back. we chose to sit in the back because it was a pretty warm day, and the front was a bit warmer than the back. they also have cute little seating outside, but i'd save that for less hot/humid days, personally. the service was cordial and we had no issues. the food was great -- we tried a few different things, including the baked brie (comes with a little salad), the steak frites with a nice bleu cheese sauce, moule frites (i can never resist moule frites), and the classic benny. all very good. the standout for me was the seafood over risotto -- comes with large shrimps and scallops, which were all PERFECTLY cooked. you can bet, i'll be back. you can park at the muni lot right across the street, since street parking is a little difficult in the area. free parking on sundays!

Yelp
We had to come here because they have Steak Tartare!! It was lovely to sit outside with our dog and people watch. The food was good, French fries were still hot when they came to the table. The steak tartare was fresh and flavorful. Accommodating staff brought water to our dog, and petted her on the head. We will be back for more tartare.

Yelp
Where else can you sit at a sidewalk table with the chef, before the rush, people watching. If you're looking for authentic, regional French food, and also a great burger or omelette, in a perfect little river town, Brasserie D is the place. I've also previously shared I try to support #local #business ‍ especially #authentic, #familyowned #restaurants, introducing myself to owners and staff whenever possible. Why? Because restaurants appreciate the business, thank you for the good comments, and may go above and beyond to make your visit a satisfying one. That's the experience we always get at @brasserie_d_nyack, where #owner, #chef Alain, and son Christophe personally greet and serve their guests. That Alain is from #Alsace and his menu reflects a remarkable #French diversity, offering dishes hard to find anywhere else except #france is a deal closer for a #foodie like me. If you #swipe the last pic it's of a half finished #bloodymary - I wasn't fast enough with the camera :-). Of course we also enjoyed what I think should be considered their famous #frisee #salad with the perfect #poachedeggs, #bakedbrie , #moules, #steak and #frites, all perfectly prepared and enjoyed for #brunch on a sunny Sunday or Friday night dinner.

Yelp
My best friend from CA was visiting and I thought it would be nice to show her the village of Nyack (I am from Nanuet). With all the good places to eat around the area, she picked this place because she was aching for some foie gras, being it is "forbidden" in CA. Not only was her craving satisfied but we were impressed by the service, of course the food, (we also ordered the thin crust pizza and cheese board for apps). The owner, Alain was very accommodating with our request for a photo opt! :-) I would definitely come back and I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Just opened July 27, thought I'd try this new French brasserie, as I am a lover of authentic French food. Glad I had made a reservation as the place was jumping. Pretty decor with French paintings, an old fashioned tin ceiling, a long bar for many patrons, along with high top tables and alfresco dining as well. The entire frontage of the restaurant has accordion doors so it's completely open to the street, a nice touch, especially in today's world. My friend ordered the Asparagus Spinach Vichyssoise that was outstanding- very comparable to Sardi's. It was a very healthy sized serving. Then came the Steak Tartare & the Muscles Mariniere, without the cream as I'm dairy free. The Steak Tartare had a beautiful presentation with a quail egg on top. It came with frites and salad. It was good, but not great. It could have had more seasoning. It was quite bland. The Muscles Mariniere was fair at best. The problem is too frequently restaurants use pre-prepared garlic, instead of chopping it themselves. When they use preprepared, it has an aftertaste. It was also loaded with it- very overpowering & just not good. Usually this is served with a crusty baguette to dip in the broth, however the chef served frites with it instead. In this instance no loss as the last thing I wanted to do was have the broth. When presented it had tiny white pieces of something I could not identify, then realizing it was the garlic that was actually puréed and much too much of it. It gave the appearance of a lot of grated cheese on the food. I could not eat much of it. Great wine list. Enjoyed a nice Boudreaux. They serve brunch as well. Not sure I'd give it another try considering the garlic issue as I'm sure it's present in most dishes.

Yelp
Alain's most recent venture -Brasserie D is his best yet. Same great quality of Alain's Bistro and Alain's Petite Bistro just on a grand scale. The space is amazing featuring both indoor and outdoor dining with a huge bar area. Typical French brasserie fare but delivered in Alain's special way with great local ingredients. Always try his specials: last night we had the celery root soup served chilled was outstanding as well as the Jersey tomatoes with buratta. The servers are great, two sons are amongst the staff which you can tell are as passionate as their dad. There is a full bar as well as wine and beer. I urge you to try this place...a place to love. Great vibes here!

Yelp
this is the new Alain's! he moved down the street to a larger place. the main perk is that the new restaurant is huge with a giant bar. he can now accommodate many more tables and it is much easier to get a reservation. even better, he now offers cocktails because he has a full bar. much of the decor and the ambiance is the same as the old restaurant which is lovely. service is also faster than it previously was. a lot of the menu is the same and the food here is so so good. if you've never tried it, i would highly recommend stopping by!

Yelp
Everything is so great ! I love the ambiance. Staff are friendly. You won't miss it in Nyack

Yelp
Great space. Huge bar with views of the street. Alain's sons tend the bar. Oysters are fresh and delicious. Love the endive salad. Have had most everything on the menu. Recently had the duck confit it was sooo tasty. We have also had brunch here which is also very good. We will be back

Yelp
We visited on the weekend after Thanksgiving, and things were pretty quiet. The service was excellent, and so was the food. We had an unusual appetizer special : It was a patty shaped fried thing that was made out of pigs feet and foie gras. Definitely not healthy but delicious. I had the duck which was super, and my wife had the salmon which she pronounced the best piece of salmon she's ever had. We finished off with tart Tatin for dessert, which was very good and an excellent cup of coffee. It was expensive, but worth it. Highly recommended.

Yelp
The owner is very friendly and interesting. The food was nothing less than stellar. I had lamb chops cooked to perfection with a sauce you wish you knew how to make. Green beans perfect. Scallop potatoes, delish. There was also this meat wrapped in Filo dough that was also delicious. Even their cappuccinos were extra delicious. The two people I was with raved about the escargot, pate, and roasted chicken. Service was excellent. Very sweet and upbeat server. She was all smiles. I can't wait to go back! It's also cute inside with 1/2 tables 1/2 booth. Unfortunately the only thing I would change is to have fabric on the seats, not Faux leather. It doesn't breathe. But that's 95% of restaurants, so I guess it's just my own little pet peeve. They also have a nice long bar if you want to sit and have a drink or eat there. All in all I would give more than 5 stars if I could.

Martin K.

Yelp
My friends took me out for my birthday here the other night. Wow! Great food, ambiance and the service was on-point. All the bistro basics, done to perfection. The beef bourginon (sp?) was the best I've had in the NYC metro area, bar none. Great wine as well. We'll be back, fo' sho'! Great to know there are restaurant folks who know how to do it right.

Yelp
This restaurant truly exceeded my expectations. Alain, Christoph, and the staff did and excellent job at making my party and I feel like we were the only people in the restaurant despite having the place packed. Food was great and expeditious, and the drinks were great. I would fully recommend this to all family, friends, and more.

Yelp
Good food in a nice environment, it's now my culinary interested son's favorite place in the area. Staff was attentive, no complaints

Yelp
Great experience, we were recently in Paris and missed the food. Friendly staff and we enjoyed sitting outside and people watching while we sipped our wine.

Yelp
I celebrated my friend's birthday at Brasserie D. The service and food were excellent.

Yelp
We were off to a rough start when the staff sat our party at two separate tables, even though we had a reservation. The soups were mediocre and one was served cold. The mussels were sandy and the frites weren't anything special. The reason for the 3 stars is the owner came out and was super apologetic about everything.

Dominique N.

Yelp
True Brasserie Food! Alain does a fantastic job. Will make it my to go restaurant in Nyack.

M M.

Yelp
We dined here shortly after opening. It did not meet expectations. My Cod Champaign was so small I thought it was a Tapas dish. My wife ordered the half chicken and did actually get one. Fortunately for me, she let me fill my near-empty stomach with her leftovers. Unfortunately for her, her glass of red wine apparently sat in an opened bottle for too long and went vinegary. I chaulk this up to transition problems. Wine steward: please taste your opened wine before serving.

David W.

Yelp
Run, don't walk here. 10/10 from the service to the ambience to the food. My new favorite spot in Nyack.

Tracy S.

Yelp
We took my husband here for his birthday. The food was fantastic! We began with a cheese plate (served on a cross-section of a log) and seared foie gras. Two of us had the duck, one had the beef bourguignon and one had the steak frites and all were wonderful. Our waiter, Bob, was pleasant and attentive without being pushy and tolerated our unusual sense of humor with grace. Lovely atmosphere, too! We will be back-it was everything we wanted in a French restaurant.

Caroline Y.

Yelp
Food was good with one major exception. My husband's mussels had ice in them-yes ice. The waiter took them and Never came back, no apology, nothing. We told the manager who said they were low on mussels so they ran to the supermarket, bought mussels and dumped them into the pot. Some of the mussels weren't even open and therefore not safe to eat. I hope my husband doesn't get sick. In the meantime, they were out of diet soda but wouldn't pick up a 2 liter bottle at the supermarket. Customer service, food quality and general judgment is questionable. We will not be returning.

Raoul R.

Yelp
Excellent food. Everything we've had here is tasty and worth a return trip. The mussels are the best we've tasted, and we love the Endive Salad as well as the sea bass and salmon.

Samantha A.

Yelp
Great food! Great staff! The oyster selection is the best around ! The steak frites and the filet mignon aux poivre are a must try! Don't forget the mussels (I prefer the Catalan style). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

P C.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! Had French onion soup, mussels meunière and chocolate mousse for dessert. All fantastic! Our new favorite restaurant!

L K.

Yelp
I have been to Alain's restaurant in the past and it was excellent. It was the best French restaurant I have ever been to outside of France. Last night, I wanted to celebrate my birthday with the same French food I had the year before. I live in NJ. It's a 40 minute drive. The waitress needed more training and experience. She could not tell us the specials properly. I ordered French onion soup, my BF had butternut squash soup and we both had Beef Bourbuignon. The bourbuignon I had last year stuck in my mind because it was very good (last year). The French onion soup was bread, melted cheese, onion and water. It didn't taste like French onion soup. The beef bourbuignon was bland and had no flavor. It was beef in sone brown sauce. I asked for more bread. The bread got smaller compared to last year(about 80% smaller). I was told by the waitress to save the bread for the French onion soup because it's real good. It sounded like she couldn't give me more. A shortage possibly? The dessert trio was primarily sugar. The espresso one was the only one that had taste. It better taste like coffee. Otherwise don't call it espresso. The waitress wanted us to leave. I never felt so rushed to get out of a restaurant. I shouldn't have tipped, but I did. Not the full 20%, but I did. A tip is earned. It's not a given.
