La Brasserie des Haras

"A buzzing atmosphere at this large-capacity restaurant run by the great chef Marc Haeberlin, set in the former royal stables and stud farm, constructed during the reign of Louis XV. On the menu, modern cuisine, brasserie classics and a handful of local specialities. The superb contemporary décor with the original exposed roof structure is well worth a look !" - Michelin Inspector

An Autumnal Road Trip Through Alsace Wine Country

"Next, make a stop at Brasserie Les Haras for dinner. The expansive eatery is housed in Strasbourg’s former Royal Stud Farm, and large parts of the restaurant retain that rustic stable feel—especially apparent on the cozy, wood-beamed second floor. You can’t go wrong with the choucroute (sausage, cabbage, potatoes) or, if you’d rather leave with the top button of your pants undone, the ultra-rich bouchée á la reine. Thought to be an aphrodisiac, this dish with French royal origins places a puff pastry atop a pile of pasta, coated in creamy béchamel sauce."

Great and inspirering servings, but 2 drawbacks: a) For a restaurant at this level, the service has to be above average. On several occaions we had to actually call the waiters to get their attention - 2 samples: When seated we said we wanted an apertitif. We had to call again for that. The first serving arrived before the wine we ordered - Completely unacceptable. Our glasses were not kept up by the waiter, we had to pour the wine ourselves several time during the evening (But not always) b) No Wine servings by the glass, which is a little problem, if you prefer optimal pairings.

I booked to dine at this brasserie after seeing the photos of the stunning architecture, and it did not disappoint. I love the stairs and space - I think the architects have done an amazing job in creating something new while retaining & restoring the historic elements and structure. The set lunch menu is really good-value and the dishes were nicely presented and delicious esp. the dessert. The slight let down was the occasional slow and stern service, other than that, it was a satisfying lunch in a beautiful dining room with lively ambience.

Amazing service, food and atmosphere. We are welcomed with smiles by the waiters even though we spoke broken french. The staircase was stunning so I wanted to take videos, the waiter even showed me where to get the best shot. The food was generous in portion and easily the best meal I've had in France. I recommended the simmental beef filet tagliata. Would come back

Had a lovely lunch here on the patio while stopping through the city. My boyfriend and I got two different fish dishes that were both great. The lemon dessert was the star of the show.

Absolutely outstanding – best beef tagliata I've ever had! The meat was incredibly tender, perfectly cooked, and full of rich flavor. Truly the best tagliata I’ve ever tasted. The mashed potatoes were also exceptional — creamy, smooth, and the perfect match for the beef. I also tried the fish, which was beautifully crispy and so fresh and refreshing. On top of the amazing food, the atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and inviting. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommend!

The setting was beautiful and most welcoming. We had a cozy second floor table with nice private space. Unfortunately the second floor was excessively hot and staff indicated temperature control was difficult in this structure with its beautifully exposed wooden beams. Recommend you request 1st floor table. Staff was courteous and helpful to us English speaking guests. Food was centered on beef but with many alternative including vegetarian options. Except for too warm second floor, highly recommended. Food was delicious and nicely presented. Top notch beer and wine selections plus an amazing array of classical and novel cocktails.

Google
Great place to visit! The atmosphere was also very pleasant and the transformation of the place into a restaurant is wearth seeing. The stuff was also polite and more than helpful. The food was good, not something unforgettable but qualitative and tasteful.

Yelp
We came to dine here with my family during our trip to Strasbourg and were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful interior and staircase upon entering. We thoroughly enjoyed all the food, especially the lamb burger which was cooked to perfection. It was my first time trying a lamb burger and id return just to enjoy that during each visit. Service was attentive, and local Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir selections were exquisite.

Yelp
The setting is beautiful and relaxing, in the courtyard of the associated hotel, which used to be stables for breeding horses. The swordfish was prepared well and the accompanying zucchini and falafel were excellent. I highly recommend dinner at this restaurant.

Yelp
Beautiful modern restaurant - amazing wide spiral wood staircase to second floor dining. The restaurant is inside renovated equestrian center dating from 1700s and has a very open feel and great acoustics. Service, food, and wines all very good. Menu is not typical brasserie nor is restaurant decor so do not expect traditional. It's a unique and beautiful venue for dinner.
