How the Pandemic Accelerated Lager’s Rise to Montreal Trend | Eater Montreal

"Brasserie du Bas-Canada is cited as one of the breweries that specializes in full-on, double-dry-hopped hazy IPAs, illustrating that hop-forward producers continue to thrive even while some expand into lagers." - Christopher DeWolf

Thirteen beers on tap tonight, we had to try them all. They were all excellent, Libre (a sour-fruited smoothy) was the highlight.

The beers here are excellent, especially the sours. They’re bright, balanced, and bursting with flavour. You can really taste the use of fresh fruit — the berry sours in particular drink almost like a tart fruit smoothie, but still finish crisp and clean. There’s a lot of depth without being overly acidic or one-note. You can tell these are carefully crafted with real attention to ingredients and balance. A must-visit if you love a great sour.

My favourite Gatineau brewery by far. Good food, great service and amazing beers! Their selection of IPA’s and DIPA’s is cool because they are all distinct, yet very smooth. The Lune Lune dessert stout was fantastic, like eating a chocolate cake with cream cheese icing! Sip it slowly and savour!

Polar opposite of their factory location, which frankly was awful, for everything except beer Rachel is a FANTASTIC employee, finally somebody at this place that can talk to people properly.. give this girl a raise, you guys need her to train your staff, big time.. if you let her go, you screwed up. End of story. Almost a weird brewery of anti social types at the other location. very bizarre contrast .

You go there for the amazing beer, the merch and the staff (they are da bomb). Food is nice (note that the kitchen is closed on Sundays) but not the reason why you'll visit. No terrace... what a bummer. It's just a small place looking at... a mall parking lot. They try to make the place look nice, they really do but I cannot help feeling like I'm in a fish tank.

Outstanding beer, delicious food, and exceptional service from Eric. I love Indian cuisine and ordered the lamb vindaloo with some initial hesitation—I’m thrilled I did because it was incredible. My wife went for the tuna Poké bowl, and it was equally phenomenal. For IPA enthusiasts, this place is paradise. They have an impressive selection of double and triple IPAs on tap, easily competing with Ontario’s best. I cannot recommend this spot enough—100% worth a visit!

Pardon the poor photo. This place is fantastic for beer lovers. Everything was fabulous - they are killing their DIPAs and especially stouts (rich and desserty). Ordered chicken and waffles - great. I will definitely be back. Great beer (perhaps the best in the NCR) and food. Can I give 6-stars? *Update: Added my wife's superior photo.

For some reason, I didn't expect it to look like this, although it looks like so many other brewpubs in a strip mall/semi-industrial space. They seem to respect Covid-19 regulations quite well, considering the tasting room section isn't very big. We were warned about this so we showed up early. You have to wait outside for the staff to let you in and make sure your table is ready. Kudos to them for it. They had 5-6 beers on tap that day, including a very good Helles, a nice Sweet stout and a few hoppy beers of varying strength, bitterness and fruitiness. I'm not a big fan of their overly sweet fruity IPAs, but the regular ones are good. The Helles was better than I expected. The stout was very tasty, big chocolate notes, a little cloying for me but my +1 enjoyed it. Service was good, no complaints at all. Didn't try the food but apparently it's excellent. Beer prices were fair at 7$ a pint. Overall I liked it, if I lived around here I'd visit occasionally but I don't know if I would be a regular. I certainly wouldn't wait hours in line for their special release beers.
