How the Pandemic Accelerated Lager’s Rise to Montreal Trend | Eater Montreal

"Brasserie du Bas-Canada is cited as one of the breweries that specializes in full-on, double-dry-hopped hazy IPAs, illustrating that hop-forward producers continue to thrive even while some expand into lagers." - Christopher DeWolf

The food was good, good flavors. We got the fried Chicken and waffles and poutine. The service was fast and good variety of beers.

Phenomenal beer! We tried a few different beers while we were there, all delicious. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful, would have liked to be able to stay longer but we got there close to closing. Stocked up on a bunch of beers to go, we will be back next time we're in the area!

Thirteen beers on tap tonight, we had to try them all. They were all excellent, Libre (a sour-fruited smoothy) was the highlight.

Pardon the poor photo. This place is fantastic for beer lovers. Everything was fabulous - they are killing their DIPAs and especially stouts (rich and desserty). Ordered chicken and waffles - great. I will definitely be back. Great beer (perhaps the best in the NCR) and food. Can I give 6-stars? *Update: Added my wife's superior photo.

Polar opposite of their factory location, which frankly was awful, for everything except beer Rachel is a FANTASTIC employee, finally somebody at this place that can talk to people properly.. give this girl a raise, you guys need her to train your staff, big time.. if you let her go, you screwed up. End of story. Almost a weird brewery of anti social types at the other location. very bizarre contrast .

For some reason, I didn't expect it to look like this, although it looks like so many other brewpubs in a strip mall/semi-industrial space. They seem to respect Covid-19 regulations quite well, considering the tasting room section isn't very big. We were warned about this so we showed up early. You have to wait outside for the staff to let you in and make sure your table is ready. Kudos to them for it. They had 5-6 beers on tap that day, including a very good Helles, a nice Sweet stout and a few hoppy beers of varying strength, bitterness and fruitiness. I'm not a big fan of their overly sweet fruity IPAs, but the regular ones are good. The Helles was better than I expected. The stout was very tasty, big chocolate notes, a little cloying for me but my +1 enjoyed it. Service was good, no complaints at all. Didn't try the food but apparently it's excellent. Beer prices were fair at 7$ a pint. Overall I liked it, if I lived around here I'd visit occasionally but I don't know if I would be a regular. I certainly wouldn't wait hours in line for their special release beers.

So delicious!!! Many different beer styles. Lots of flavour. Their IPA’s and smoothies are the best!

You go there for the amazing beer, the merch and the staff (they are da bomb). Food is nice (note that the kitchen is closed on Sundays) but not the reason why you'll visit. No terrace... what a bummer. It's just a small place looking at... a mall parking lot. They try to make the place look nice, they really do but I cannot help feeling like I'm in a fish tank.

Yelp
This is a great brewery with fantastic food and service. I do not speak French, but the server was incredibly patient and checked my pronunciation and everything. I really felt at home here :)

Yelp
Stopped in with a friend for a few brews and some charcuterie. The names escape me but I very much enjoyed what I had including one particularly memorable fruity beer. Staff was friendly and chatted with me about the states. Very welcoming little spot. They also have some of their craft beers available in to-go cans! Worth a stop for sure.

Yelp
I never liked IPAs until I tried Bas Canada IPAs. They are so smooth and have incredible flavor. Their beers actually taste like their tasting notes. If a beer mentions pineapple, you'll actually taste the pineapple. Their beers sell out so quickly so it's recommended to place an order to pick up at their location or line up at local businesses that have advertised receiving their beers. I like fruity beers so I particularly love their Los tabernacos beer but honestly all their IPAs are amazing. Their actual location is really nice. It's not very big, it sits about 20 people, only 10 people or so now because of covid-19 measures. There is no terrasse. They have a food menu. We didn't order any food but the people 2m away from us ordered lobster rolls and salads, looked délicious. They also sell merchandise like tshirts and glasses. They are taking all safety precautions and even asked us to wait 5 min to be seated since their disinfectant product used on the tables and chairs has a 5 min contact time. I appreciated the importance they put on these measures. We had never tried their stouts before so we ordered the Nathan (an imperial sweet stout) and the Black is beautiful ( an imperial stout). Both stouts were so smooth. The black is beautiful tasted on coconut, this was my favorite. This microbrasserie is making really high quality products, highly recommend trying it out!
