Lazare

"In the heart of the famous Gare St - Lazare is this elegant railway brasserie, version 2013. It is the brainchild of Éric Frechon, who respects the canons of the genre: French - style devilled eggs, pike quenelles or mackerel in a white wine sauce. Fine French tradition is right on track! Pleasant and very lively." - Michelin Inspector

"For Michelin-starred chef Eric Frechon, opening a 110-seat restaurant in the heart of Paris 's busiest train station (Gare St.-Lazare) was effectively a way to reconnect with his democratic, bistro past. The Bristol Hotel chef is an avowed proponent of no-fuss, simple food executed to perfection. He jumped at the chance to dedicate a space to his special brand of cooking when he was approached by the SNCF transport company to create a restaurantworthy of the station's newly renovated image—a destination for transients and locals alike, open morning, noon, and night. Frechon stepped in to offer a wildly accessible, haute casual menu of French comfort classics in a gorgeous, lofty space that is equal parts café-bar and swish restaurant. In addition to the full menu, expect daily specials, a robust wine selection, and a standout dessert that will have you returning time and again: the Paris-Deauville, a sweet homage to Normandy, his birthplace, in the form of a caramelized, cold soufflé. The classic brasserie has experienced considerable decline in recent years, but with Lazare, Frechon revives the iconic lieu de vie with deft style."

The steak and frites combined with the bearnaise sauce was deliciously devine. The meat was tender and seasoned to perfection. When dipped in the sauce, each bite was the best bite. The profiterole drenched in chocolate was heavenly. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. We were seated on the mall side so I drew the curtain to not be a window display for shoppers and commuters walking by the restaurant. If we had more time in Paris, we’d come to Lazare a second time!

Google
A traditional French Brasserie located in the Saint Lazare train station in Paris. This was our first meal upon arriving in Paris. We landed at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and took the RER B and Metro to Gare Saint Lazare. We had a wonderful dinner at Brasserie Lazare before taking the train to Caen. Highly recommend this restaurant. The sausage and mashed potatoes were delicious and the service was excellent.

Get the escargot and the salmon! Service was really nice until they mistook us for Japanese :( we were Korean ! Prices weren't bad and the place had nice interior :) Pretty fancy

Google
Lazare is a brasserie in the railway station. It’s quite a surprise to find such a nice restaurant with a good vibe and delicious food at a railway station. I got the croque Monsieur and it was perfectly fried inside the cheese was melt and outside it was crunchy. Highly recommended!!

Google
I was totally impressed tbh. Very much recommend, the food was tasty and exceeded my expectations. I had a reservation which was totally honoured. A lot of families and locals.

Google
Its hard to believe you get this quality restaurant in a train station. Service was excellent, inside the ambiance is amazing, even at lunchtime, and the food, awesome.

Google
This was our first meal in Paris and we really enjoyed it! Very, very busy but we got a table right away. The risotto was lovely and my husband loved the sausage and mash. We got the chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream for dessert and ohhhh my goodness the ice cream was INCREDIBLE!

Yelp
We had an amazing lunch here while waiting for our train. Knowing that we had time to spare, this high end restaurant was a perfect place to kill some time. We did order a starter, but watching others, I would have to try the artichoke...it was huge and looked delicious. Bf ordered the ravioli, which he loved. I got the goat cheese salad. Yum and yummy. We both ordered the expresso with finger chocolate for dessert!! To die for!!!

Yelp
The food here was really good. I ordered the Beef Tartare with chips on the side as well as a smoked Salmon and a mock tail mojito. I wouldn't recommend the mock tails here, actually one of the worst mock tails I've tried, but the food was all very seasoned and up to par. The restaurant also has a nice decor and ambience inside, also very conveniently located inside of a train station. The service here could definitely be better though. When we declined to order any wine and instead opted for a mock tail since we don't drink alcohol, the waiter made a big fuss which was definitely rude of him.

Yelp
Very good steak frites! The service was also exceptional. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Service = fast, 5 stars Ambience = nice, 4 stars Food = NEGATIVE 5 stars; I only had the calamari appetizer, which promptly gave me food poisoning and made me violently ill all night, messing up our next day's plans. Pass on the calamari dish at least and don't chance it.

Yelp
AVOID! This restaurant has to be the worst experience I have ever had in my life. Customer service is disastrous. They take away the plates when they bring you bread, so you can dirty the table. There are more flies than customers coming to this restaurant. They show disgust when you ask simple questions and throw the food onto the table. Go anywhere else if you don't want a sour taste in your mouth.

Yelp
Came in here for a quick light late lunch on a Sunday as it was close to our hotel and opened. We were seated relatively quickly at the bar. The bartender/waitress was very nice, took our order quickly, and made a few good drink suggestions. Our appetizers came out pretty quickly. We got a couple of oysters and the sea urchin tarama spread with blinis. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The tarama was tasty and a hefty portion, but I was a bit disappointed that the tarama tasted like normal tarama with not a hint of sea urchin. For the main, we split an order of mussels which came with a side of fries. The curry flavored broth for the mussels was satisfying and not too heavy. The pacing wasn't great as it took over 20 minutes for the mussels to come out. Knowing how quick and easy mussels and fries are to make, it was clearly due to some inefficiency in the restaurant operations. Overall, it's not a bad place to go to if you're not in a hurry and have no trains or planes to catch.

Yelp
Went in expecting great food and service . Was very disappointed in both . Me and my husband ordered the Sunday chicken special at around 8:30pm . Now they close at midnight. Was told that they did not have anymore chicken . Originally was told they only had breast . Then maybe 15 minutes later when I decided okay I'll try it after asking if it is dry breast , I don't like breast but was willing to try it , then told they don't have anymore chicken. Confusing because the other worker informed me that I can order the other chicken meal . Confusing and concerned. Was is us that was told they didn't have anymore chicken! Do not go here if you are of a different nationality. You may not get the same treatment!

Yelp
After a recommendation from my hotel which is across the way, I decided to dine at Lazare which is in a good location and is also next to Gare Saint-Lazare. The food is a little expensive here compared to other Brasseries but being tired, I decided to give this place a shot as it seems to be regularly busy and popular with locals into the night. I was told I could order the chicken dish with chips as for some reason the mashed potato contained gluten - I've never heard of that before, who puts flour in mashed potato? There was originally some confusion, I explained I would like a garlic sauce to the waiter and he seemed confused, I asked him first if he could check if they could change the sauce for me. They wouldn't tell me what was in the sauce in English or French, all I wanted to know was if it was something I'd eat, it changed it went from being like gravy to the roasting sauces. If that wasn't bad enough about five minutes after ordering the chicken with a garlic sauce he asked me "Was it with or without garlic". I told him what he wanted, he pretended to understand as he went to the kitchen only to come up with such a strange comment. He was friendly, and I hope this was down to an issue with translation and him obviously not wanting to give away the recipes rather than incompetence. It turned out the sauce was mainly the roasting sauces with a few other flavours, I do think it becomes very rich but I did like it, although it wasn't really what I was expecting, wanting or asked for. The quality of the chicken again was okay, I do prefer breast meat and some meat was darker and chewy but most of it was cooked well. The highlight of my meal was the side, the fries were fresh, tasty with the amazing fresh sea salt which you can sprinkle yourself with the spoon, now those were so good, I'd even go back to just order tray after tray of fries if they'd let me. I did like the addition of the bacon lardons along with the dish which seemed to make it a little fancy. A few other interesting notes - I think they actually sell their silverware here, the room is decorated with 1000's of plates all over - For some reason they sat tables closer together, I would have thought in a slightly high-end place they would at least leave one table between each guest at least until it got busy. - The food is a tad expensive and I wouldn't say it's value for what it is - More clarity in what is being served as there were different answers between two staff members and my sauce must have changed half a dozen times in that time. - They have homemade mayonnaise, it's thick fresh and goes really well with the awesome fries. 3* - A safe place to grab a meal if you're looking for decent food without going too far if staying at the Hilton or in the Opera area, for the price though I'd expect a lot more.

Yelp
I'd be hard pressed to give this place more than 4 stars. This being said, I would comeback here again. In fact, I will come back here on Wednesday night for dinner. Stumbled across this restaurant after Patricia Wells recommended that we (all) eat here for dinner. Since this place is located behind the Hilton Opera hotel in Paris, My partner and I decided to take the 2 minute trek over to see what the fuss was all about. We arrived at the Metro station where the restaurant is an were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess who promptly sat us down away from the bar and to our seats. My partner sat down and admired his view of the general splendor of the restaurant; the decor, the busy staff, and and troves of french people coming in for a warm meal. I had a view of some plates on the wall and an empty water jug nestled in a cubby hole. We started with the octopus appetizer (Poulpe et haricots...) which was 5 star. You can see my picture of this dish. Worth every center. the octopus was PERFECTLY cooked, and I loved the fresh herbs and texture of the entire dish. We also had a bottle of wine between the two of us. The cost of this bottle was maybe 37euro which means about 45 US dollars. Not bad. The wine however was great! Not sweet at all, and lightly buttery with clean, crisp notes on the finish. Look at my photo I took if you want to see what we ordered. The first dish was ok. Though, my partner would never admit that it was sub par; but I would. He ordered the seared scallops in some kind of pesto risotto sauce. The scallops were PERFECTLY cooked. I cannot remember the last time I ate scallops so good. The dish itself has a bright, yet creamy sauce that tied together the buttery scallops and sharp parmesean shaves. I gave this dish 4 star as I thought it could have used more seasoning such as salt, citrus, heat? something. All in all, good dish and yummy. My dish was the fish dish. Monday night blue plate special if you will. quenelles de Brochet en Narnua sauce. A few things: (que the music). The fish was pike. I love pike. However, growing up jewish I know what pike fish is, and I know that whenever I have made pike fish, I have make it into gifilte fish and enjoyed it. As you can see in my photos of my dish, the 2 fish cannells were presented as 2 floating islands in my Narnua sauce. The sauce was just EXCELLENT gravy and I sopped my plate clean with my baguette. The fish was light, clean, and very true flavor integrity wise, however the dish left me wanting more. ...More food; preferably in the form of meat or something more like food that isn't so ....fluffy. All in all the food, dinner and staff were great, but I am giving this establishment a 4 start. I will try this place again Wednesday, and see what this place does to my review. I will be sure to stk with my instincts and shy away from fish, and get some meat. Also, starting off my dinner with CHampagne will help open my culinary senses.

Yelp
The food was excellent. I ordered steak and it came with the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. They gave us time between courses and gave us more bread every time we finished it. The baguettes are delicious too. The servers there were kind and spoke some English. The ambiance was modern yet very cultural as I walked in and sat down.

Yelp
The food was great and the dessert as well. The only thing is that I think the service could be better as it was hard to find anyone to help us. Overall great

Susan L.

Yelp
Came here for New Years eve dinner. It was packed as expected. For non alcoholic drinks, tap water was not an option only large bottles of sparkling water or still water. So you have to pay for $7 for water. For starters, We had the smoked salmon, oysters with leek. Entree the filet and lobster with Morel mushrooms. Dessert both had the chocolate taste with coffee ice cream. Although the food was good, not sure what made me throw up later in the evening since I don't drink and am allergic to alcohol so that can't Abe it

Yelp
Having researched restaurants for this holiday in Paris, Lazare was a top choice. Even though there wasn't a pris fixe menu and the prices were rather steep, I enjoyed lunch here immensely. The service was impeccable and the food top notch. I began with a celeriac remoulade which was beautifully plated. This was a refreshing starter and a good combination. After that came roasted whiting covered with croutons that tasted caramelized on a bed of Xeres wilted spinach topped with pine nuts and three large caper berries. Each bite was ambrosial and I had tears in my eyes thinking of how tasty the food is in Paris and what an art form the chefs have come up with. "Crêpes Suzette" was my dessert of choice and it was sublime. I can taste it as I am writing this review. I chose to have a Perrier with this lunch. I plan on making this restaurant on my "return on every visit" list.

Yelp
Went 3x by myself at bar, 2 other times with colleagues...staff fantastic and helpful. Food - epic for what I'd hoped in a Parisian experience: mussels, salmon, chicken all great!

Yelp
Amazing French cuisine for the hungry traveler. This place is expensive but worth the price. When we went they did not have an English menu but our server was incredibly helpful in translating the plates (so was Google translate). I enjoyed the white wine pairing with my steak and mashed potatoes. The brown sauce they used to compliment the steak was terrific. What I truly enjoyed about this place was the big portions. You felt like you were enjoying a fine dining experience without sacrificing taste, which was impeccable. The service here was also absolutely charming. I would gladly visit again to try everything else they have to offer. Also, make sure to call for reservations or else you might be left disappointed.

Yelp
A nice French Brasserie in the Saint Lazare train station. It is across from the Hilton Opéra. Nice modern look with dark wood and chrome furnishings. Service was top rate and staff spoke English as well as French. Food was good but a bit to commercial. Understandable as they must serve travelers on a tight schedule. On the wall they even tell you what you can order depending on the time you have, a nice touch. All in all it was a nice experience.

Yelp
There's something thrilling about dining in a train station. The energy of the crowd and the proximity to all of those tracks makes you dream of dropping everything and skipping on a spontaneous adventure out of town. Deauville, Caen, Cherbourg, you can almost feel the winds of the ocean coast howling your name. But whether you're coming in or heading out of town, Lazare supplies the dreamscape to help you skip temporarily out of your daily routine. The gorgeous high ceilings, the industrial turn of the century design, the quick, stylish service and updated french classic dishes deliver a fresh modern take on the old-school brasserie. I had heard that their saucisse de Toulouse and purée, the Saturday dish of the day, was one of the best out there, and I have to say that it was divine and a great deal at 19E. My husband's steak tartare was actually incredibly light and those cigarette fries, while a little gimmicky, were delicious. It's just too bad that they don't do a prix fixe menu because the dishes on their own can be a bit pricey. That said, everything was super copious so an entree/plat or plat/dessert is really all the food that you need. Special mention goes to the incredible Paris-Deauville dessert, the signature of the chef. A cross between a cheesecake and a flan, I've never tasted anything like it. Happy that they have the recipe written on the walls as I'm dying to try it at home!

Yelp
I do not recommend this place. So this is not complaining about the price, but we ate 2 persons for 140€ then you expect things to be on a certain level right? Alright, then let's break it down: What they do right (€€€ level) -interior -menu design -menu content -seats -atmosphere -service What they could improve (€€ level) -the food must taste better, I am not in culinary heaven, not even close. I am quite disappointed. -please provide a bottle of complimentary tap water - come on dude do we have to ask for it? I ordered coffee, beer, wine, soda everything but no water can be spared? I guess they want us to order Evian at 7€ eh? Sorry, but for the price I expect more. Everything is ready for Lazare to be a €€€ class restaurant but I would not recommend this place right now...

Yelp
We came here on the advice of the Hilton clerk. We came for lunch and Loved the food. The starters were the calamari and the tuna tartar which is a must. the perfect balance of avocado and tuna is just right. For the main we had the roast beef, the lamb shoulder with couscous-and the mussels in curry sauce. Every dish was unique and suberb. We will be back forsure. oh yeah we shared a crepe suzette. My son loved it and we scrapped the pan it came it. You must come here.

Yelp
Very decent place. A bit pricy, but the food is tasty and service is very friendly and helpful:) I've had white white asparagus as a starter, and very tasty mules in white sauce. Plates are quite big as for a French place - it was more than enough for one person. It's a bit pricy but you get good value for the money. Mind that it's located at the train station.

Yelp
This place was recommended by the chef of another area restaurant and we enjoyed it very much. It is in a touristy area, but the ambience and the food were first rate. My wife had the cod with a sauce of tomato and cheese and I had the chicken. They had good wines, but not an extensive list.

Yelp
Dear Management, I would like you to know that I had the worst lunch service today. Nobody greeted me when I arrived with a reservation, and had to ask a bartender to be seated after waiting at the front desk for 10 minutes. Although seated right next to a service station, I sat at my table for 15 minutes until I had to get the attention of the same woman who seated me. She then spoke to whom I think was a floor manager and when I asked him if anyone had bothered to notice me, he asked me what I would like to order. I visit Paris every now and then, and was really looking forward to dining at Lazare during this trip. However, I left the restaurant disappointed, so much so that I skipped dessert, which nobody does in Paris. No one should expect that at a restaurant of your status when paying 65 euros for a two course lunch. I really hope you take this feedback seriously because I won't be recommending Lazare to any of my acquaintances. Douglas V.

Yelp
First, I want to start this by saying I'm not a cranky American who doesn't understand French culture. Though, I suppose you should be your own judge of that. We went to Lazare around 9pm on a Sunday night for a late dinner. After placing our drink orders we were ignored, including even water (which we ordered a bottle of flat), for over 30 minutes. Once we asked, and placing our order again (our waiter must have just forgotten our first order?! - no apology) the water and our bottle of wine arrived after we watched two wait staff argue for a bit. Received a very chill response from our waiter which left us wondering if we did something wrong? We had planned on ordering both appetizers and entrees. After our waiter would only take our appetizer order (there may have been a language confusion here), and our drinks and appetizers took 45 minutes to appear, we decided to go elsewhere for our main dishes. We also waited an additional 20 minutes to pay the check after asking for it despite multiple wait staff walking by our table with our credit card clearly visible on top of the check. I understand not wanting to rush us, but isn't this a universal sign for please let us pay?

Kelly A.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food and super friendly wait staff! Located inside the train station. Menus in English are available
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
I was very disappointed by the service at this restaurant. I do not know why it has such good reviews. The bread they served was very stale and the cheese plate was the worst I've had in France (size and selection). The Cesar salad was good (hence two stars instead of one.)

Dermot F.

Yelp
Pleasant looking restaurant and set up conveniently located beside the railway station. Very welcoming on entering by the staff. I ordered the snails and beef stew. Unfortunately both not of a high standard. Snails were very tough and the stew was served as a steak with a large piece of bone as a garnish! Stew had no flavor at all. We complained about the flavor and were informed we were not the first customers to say this, however we were still charged for this meal. My wife had the organic egg mimosa starter which was tasty and bird game pie for mains which was delicious. Overall having one / two bad meals with a dinner can be forgivable but the service with the dinner was also very poor. The waiter was far more interested in the regulars and was not overly concerned with two tourists. Disappointing overall as this was a recommended restaurant. I unfortunately would not recommend.

Yelp
The perfect place to come for a Sunday lunch when you are travelling Paris to London (less than 10 minutes by taxi from Gare St Lazare to Gare du Nord).

Yelp
The menu is small but amazing! Definitely try this place if you get the chance. We went with 4 people and all enjoyed their meals. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I stopped here for lunch with my husband and his parents during a recent trip to France. We didn't have a reservation but we came in at the later end of lunch so we did not have to wait too long before getting seated. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a very posh feel - the diners all seemed to be business professionals (except of course for us). We struggled through the menu a bit with our broken French (for which our server had very little patience). We chose to get all small plates and split them among the group. My absolute favorite was the haricot verts and artichoke salad which we have tried to reproduce at home a number of times. We also enjoyed the avocado, grapefruit, and crab salad, the tranche de tomate, carpaccio de tete de veau, and charcuterie. Each dish was bright and flavorful - perfect for lunch. For desert we split the ille flottante a la violette which was surprisingly fun. The violette flavor was so sweet and only minimally floral - This was my favorite desert of the whole trip! I highly recommend Lazare and would like to go again immediately!

Yelp
So rare that a restaurant hits "fantastic" across all dishes. From the starter bread (warm and crusty) to the desert amazing--- puff pastry with homemade vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. Coming back.

Brietta Y.

Yelp
It was quite difficult for my friend and I to find this place as it's inside the train station and we weren't quite sure where it was but finally found it after asking around a few times. We had to wait a bit for a table and upon walking in, it already felt a bit pretentious though we were in no way dressed down. I enjoyed my chicken and our meal overall was pretty good, though pricey. I'd skip this spot next time, especially since we were on such a tight schedule with just 3 days there.

Jordan P.

Yelp
I find it difficult to rate this experience higher than 4 stars. Ultimately you go to a restaurant for food, atmosphere and service, all of which were very good. I would recommend the filet with green peppercorn sauce and my wife said that her 7 hour cooked lamb was fantastic. The decor was nice and the price was fair, considering being in Paris. What threw me off was the waiter seemed friendly however he refused to bring tap water. It's not like we hadn't ordered a couple beers, an appetizer, and 2 meals. We asked 3 times, all politely, even taking a stab in French to see if there was a misunderstanding. It's not until I read another review that it occurred to me that they were trying to push flat or sparkling bottled water. This seemingly little detail, especially considering the higher than normal temperature in the restaurant, made what would have been an excellent dining experience a little less than that.

Mish G.

Yelp
Great dinner last night with colleagues. I had the tuna tartare as a starter, sausage and mash potatoes for the entree and a meringue dessert. We had a nice selection of champagne, white and red wine with the courses. English menus are not available so a colleague had to translate.

Mark L.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here for New Year's Eve and enjoyed the prix fixe menu. We were greeted warmly with sparkling wine and small, toasted tartines. The first course was wonderful, a charred leak with scallops. Amazing. The following course was a lobster sausage (yum) in a citrus broth with morels and asparagus. I was also impressed with the chicken course. Light pastry coating on the chicken with foie gras. By the time we moved on to the cheese and dessert courses I was quite full. The cheese was a bit rich for my taste. Or by that point in such a large meal. The mousse for dessert was (again) very rich and quite sweet. But I won't hold my personal and irrational prejudices against certain cheeses and sugary sweets against the restaurant. The quality of the cooking was quite good. But at 160€ per person I was expecting a little bit more. I will hand it to Lazare for having a wide variety of high quality, yet reasonably priced wines. I just think it might be time to revisit their pricing model. I wish a half star was possible. 3.5/5.

May L.

Yelp
We were recommended to come to this restaurant by the hotel concierge. The restaurant was relatively empty when we arrived. They seated us promptly and everything appeared to be fine. Waiter Came to take our order. Appetizers arrived and that was the end of the service. We were not checked on for 25 min. Finally, the entrees came by way of the bus boy and we never saw our waiter again. Everyone else had bread except us. Maybe we were not French, we were not entitled to food service? After we finished eating, we waited for 10 minutes in the hopes of catching the eye of our waiter to no avail. We finally signaled for our check. He didn't bother to clean our table. Please beware-for a relatively costly dinner, there are plenty of choices in Paris that have far better food, and definitely FAR, FAR better service. Shame on you Lazare.

Yelp
Great vibe, great food. Great service. We had starters and mains. Good prices, well balanced wine list. Need reservations or we would have repeatedly visited this place the week we were there.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place. The calamari with chorizo was very unique. I ordered the braised beef cheeks which were the best I have ever had. The ambiance is lovely. If you are in Paris, in the opera district, this place is a must! It is located in Lazare square, right behind the Hilton Opera.

Yelp
Service has obviously gone downhill in two recent visits. Still a good place in terms of originality and concept but not like before...

Yelp
Ate lunch yesterday at Restaurant Lazare located in the Gare St. Lazare train station. This is my second visit to this wonderful bistro in the last year. The dining room is open, clean and filled with natural light from a large wall of windows. Service is exceptional from hostess greeting, wait staff to several managers roaming the floor checking on tables and food. Menu items only described in French, however, wait staff and especially management staff happy to take the time to describe any items in English if requested. My lunch included a green leaf salad perfectly dressed in a light oil, cauliflower cream soup, which of course was rich, displaying beautiful mellow cauliflower flavor. My main course was a juicy boneless chicken breast in a pan sauce with small potatoes, bacon bits and mushrooms. A chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream finished me off. Spectacular from start to finish. Do yourself a favor try Lazare for lunch or dinner you will not regret it. Reservations are critical, however, they do have about a dozen seats at the bar for walk in meal service as well.

Yelp
Good energy..good service...very good food. I had the slow roasted lamb with bulgar wheat. Out of this world! Need more/better choices for wines by the glass. Very convenient just behind the Hilton. People next to me loved their Dover sole. Enjoy!

Yelp
Three stars because the food was hot, we had the Wednesday special. Some sort of beef with carrots on the side. The beef had a lot of fat and very dry around the ends. Carrots were swimming in better, tasty, but oh so much butter! Service was good. It was in the train station, second floor.

Yelp
Went here expecting to pop in since this place is behind our hotel. They were not as receptive as I thought they would be since we didn't dress up nor did we have a reservation. I was looking forward to this place but there are plenty of other places in Paris worthy of my visit.

Yelp
A great last dinner in Paris! We were able to make an early reservation for Saturday (7 PM) and were among the first diners. We showed up right on time, although I could have spent considerably more time (and euros) at the intervening Printemps. We had an excellent server who helped us with our broken French and made us feel very much at home. We split the haricot vert & artichoke salad with toasted hazelnuts - AMAZING! I then had the tagliatelle with tomatoes & octopus - the noodles were exceptionally delicious and the octopus was surprisingly tender & delicate. My partner had the salmon with vegetables (snow peas, leeks, celery and carrot), cooked perfectly in a Staub two-handled skillet - love that French attention to details. I ordered crepes Suzette - an excellent interplay between the sweet sauce and tang of the zest, while my partner ordered the lies flotante. He proclaimed it a great dessert for him, given it's subdued flavor profile. The restaurant did become very busy towards the end of the meal and waited a bit to get more attention, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is a very attractive space with a contemporary spin on the brasserie and we really wish we could have a second meal there - but it was a very fitting last meal!

Yelp
A great spot for Sunday dinner, especially with most places closed nearby. Loved the interior and the good energy of the space. The food was excellent - especially the lamb! A higher-end restaurant perfect for our first night in Paris.

Yelp
My husband and I went here as a Father's Day dinner (but just the two of us without the kids) while vacationing in Paris. We rented an apartment a few blocks away from Restaurant Lazare - which is at the Gare Saint Lazare train station building in the mall/shopping section. The reviews on Yelp looked good so we gave it a try - making a reservation at the restaurant for later in the evening after coming back through the train station on our day trip to Versailles. It was one of the only places open on Sunday - AND it was open until midnight so we were lucky as we were catching a late dinner. This place is elegant and upscale (entrees in the $20-35 range) - although there were two other parties of patrons in shorts seeming to have been tourists returning from a tour day so you can get by with a more casual dress here if needed. The menu is in French only without descriptions of the entrees - so our waiter as well as another waiter helped us interprete and decide. Menu must change regularly as the previous reviews talk about things we did not see on our dinner menu - but they offered duck, veal, pork belly, salmon, halibut and a few other entrees that were not the usual. We stated with a cheese plate which offered 5 different cheeses. My husband had the duck w/ turnips (which we didn't know were turnips until after he ate his entire entree and asked) - and says it's the best meal he had on our vacation. I had the veal which was served as shaved veal on entire bottom of the circular plate covered with a light cream sauce and rocket lettuce, tomatoes, capers and olives. Delicious and so unique! We finished with a deliciously rich chocolate mousse. Our only complaint would be that we never received a refill of our still water (and we were pretty thirsty after a day of touring), it was hard to get the attention of our server to refill the water and when I ordered an espresso with my dessert it was never brought out. When we flagged another server for our bill and he brought the bill out - we just asked that the espresso be taken off the bill since we never received it - and instead he retreated to get the credit card swiper bringing me the espresso at that time so they didn't have to take it off the bill. We have found service in Paris not to be up to the standard of finer restaurants in the states - as here in Paris they do not check on you regularly, refill your water or clean off your table of crumbs between courses. So I'd say the food and atmosphere here is lovely - but for the price the service is ok.
