"Many New Yorkers continue to mourn Anthony Bourdain at his former restaurant home Les Halles. It is a shuttered French brasserie where Bourdain once worked." - Serena Dai

Great French brasserie with amazing truffle fries. Their meats are all cooked perfectly. Good wine and cocktail selection. It's my go-to for informal but nice family dinners. Great happy hour oysters. Somewhat loud though, and it gets very crowded on weekends.

The atmosphere is a bit disappointing; typical American bistro: Loud, very crowded, loud music from the bar making everyone talk even louder. Having said that, the food was delicious and the service was prompt, very friendly, and attentive. And the french fries are pretty much a religious experience. Easily the best fries I've ever eaten, and worth the crowd and the wait all by themselves.

Home to Anthony Bourdain, I was not surprised to enjoy a down to earth and simple but delicious meal. The menu was exactly as expected of a traditional french bistro. The excellent service, intimate ambiance, and well prepared classic dishes all contributed to a great dining experience. The items are well priced and the portions are very appropriate. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to a family or friend with a desire for a great steak frites.

A rude manager, who was unavailable all night, ruined our dinner experience. We were looking for a good country French restaurant in New York and were instead met with utter disappointment. The food was OK, the atmosphere was good, the wine selection was good and the waitress was knowledgeable. We did not feel rushed and had a good time, which is why we left a 20% cash tip on a $300 tab. The waitress dropped the cash on her way to the register and the manager finally appeared; however, instead of asking us if the service was good and what they could do to improve, he loudly accused of not leaving a tip. In fact, to our surprise and horror (and surprise of the couple at the next table) he opened the billfold in front of our faces and accused us of not leaving a tip. Once another waitress found the tip on the floor he reappeared to tell us that his "waitress must have been drunk." Then the waitress appears to attempt to explain herself and apologize but the manager never bothered to apologize. When we called to speak to another manager the next day, we were told that they would return our call....8 days later and nothing. In retrospect, I should have asked for the cash tip back. Don't waste your time or your money, I have received better treatment at Pizzeria Uno's.

Overall food tasted great and the portions were just right. The menu has a plethora of great items to choose from. I enjoyed the bone marrow appetizer and beef bourguignon for my entrée. The crepe suzette done table side was also a great way to end the night. On the bad side it was a bit too dark in the restaurant and service was inconsistent since we had so many different waiters serving us.

Google
No longer Bourdain owned, but still a great room to have a meal in...Everyone raves about the Dinner Options, but I'm a fan of a giant cup of Coffee and the bread/pastry basket in the early A.M. Fresh Squeezed Juices and slap somebody good bacon. If you are with a group definitely make a reservation. A bit of outdoor seating in the warmer months but it's a bit cramped so I've never been a fan. Prices aren't outrageous but a bit more than smaller bistro style places...

Google
Not sure why this establishment is so well reviewed... French cuisine is essentially my favorite. I was taken here Friday evening for my birthday and was underwhelmed. The foie gras was nothing special and a bit cool. My date's salmon entree was "sub-par" (her words). I unwisely selected the T-bone special over the duck or pigeon I was leaning towards since the waiter confirmed it was Prime. It was neither Prime grade nor all that great. The Crêpe Suzette was good. Save your money and go elsewhere.

While the restaurant was half empty at 3pm, we were seated in the most uncomfortable place for a family with kids -- at the very only table right next to a smelly bar. And I mean -- RIGHT next to a bar! No thought in providing comfort to guests. Nothing was brought to us as you would expect: the dishes would come but no utensils, escargot was served without bread on the table, so was pate, presentation of the dishes was poor to say the least, and disappointingly not tasty. The service was also poor: we had to remind the servers about basic things over and over again. When I pointed out to the hostess about the troubled service and accommodation, she started 'defending' and coming up w excuses, rather then suggesting what could have been done to make our dining experience better. I left hungry and I am definitely never coming back. Just down the road there's L'Express -- we all wished we've gone there instead.

Yelp
Oh what a beautiful French restaurant - you could almost imagine being in France. Every detail is well thought out for comfort and atmosphere. The food is amazingly delicious. In fact, I had something I hadn't eaten in 20-years...frogs legs. It is surely the star and urge you to give it a try (tastes BETTER than chicken)! The staff is gracious and professional yet friendly and warm. I went for brunch but will definitely return for dinner.

Yelp
Anthony Bourdain is smiling down on Chez Francis! This place is top notch. Decor is elegant and sophisticated. The food is superb. This place has the Les Halles vibe, but the food and service at Chez Francis is superior. The staff were warm and inviting. The bartender was welcoming from the moment we walked in and took care of us all evening. The wine manager was extremely personable and a pleasure to talk to. We loved his golf stories. The food was great, not good, great!! The frisée and lardon salad with the poached fried egg was delicious and the lardons were plentiful. Steak au poivre, meat was tender, asparagus cooked to French perfection and the sauce was delectable. The steak frites came with bernaise, fries were golden and crispy. We topped it all off with profiteroles with ice cream and pink champagne they gave us on the house. Really amazing evening. Highly recommended for a wonderful evening out. Get here now before the rest of New York City figures out how great this place is.

Yelp
Chez Francis is a lovely French restaurant in the heart of Murray Hill. They occupy the former Les Halles spot that I frequented for many years in the early 2000's. The service was excellent and friendly without being intrusive. We enjoy dining at a leisurely pace as the restaurant is still pretty new and had plenty of availability. I assume will change as more people find out about it. For starters, we chose two cheeses (Comte and Camembart) with duck and fig terrine which was prob the best terrine I've had. My sister also ordered the escargot which had a delicious garlic sauce. For mains, I went with the canard with cherry sauce and her the Bouef Bourguignon. The duck was prepared perfectly at medium and was not sinewy, which is usually the case at many places I've dined at. However, the star of the evening was the Bourguignon. It was so tender and flavourful, and I could drink the sauce without the accompanying mashed potatoes. We ended with the souffle which was on the house. I personally could have used a bit more sugar as it tasted a bit too eggy. I can't wait to get back to Chez Francis to try their other dishes as this is such a lovely (and necessary) French restaurant in this part of the city.

Yelp
One of the best steaks I've ever had (strip)! Good wine selection. Every entree on the table including the coq au vin special (party of 5) was satisfying and completely eaten up. I wish I could've tasted the beef stew, but it'll have to wait for next time. The service was attentive and the manager made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The decor/ambience was also great. My ONLY quip is that the menu states: peppercorn crusted steak au poivre (and I even asked about it to double-check because I was taught to make it actually encrusted in hand-crushed peppercorns) and I was served an, albeit delicious strip steak, but a plain steak with a nice pepper/cream sauce on the side. I look forward to trying again on a special occasion due to the prices.

Yelp
It's always a bit unnerving to walk into a (more than) half-empty restaurant on a Friday night at 8pm, especially when the interior is new and nice. I'm not sure why i was so empty but it made us suspicious from the outset, despite the solid Yelp reviews. Things got off to a good start. Nice table. Friendly waiter, who spoke good French. Then we ordered three glasses of kir royal and things went south quickly. The champagne was nearly totally flat, a bit too warm, and the color was more coca-cola brown than the expected lighter more reddish color. As if the creme de casis was oxidized. Don't know. Rough start. When the food came, things improved. The snails were good (but I prefer them the old-school way). The mixed charcuterie plate was, well, mixed -- saussicon sec was good, the mouse de foie de volaille was very good, and the pate de campagne was meh. The mains were even better. The boeuf bourguignon was maybe the best I've ever hard. A must-try item. The steak frites was done perfectly, though the (unidentifiable) side sauce lacked punch. The steak au poivre was great as well, and a bit of fun with the flambee treatment. Adding to the fun was the presentation in little Staub pots. I can't remember the precise relationship but the Staub cookware family owns the restaurant and their cookware is used a lot, and used well, to make the presentation fun. Dessert was profiteroles, only OK -- pastry too stiff, ice cream too big, and odd unnecessary crunchy things on top. I'm wary of this place because I don' t know why it was not full and that always begs the question: what does everyone else know that we don't? But judged on the merits alone it's either 3 or 4 stars -- I rounded down to three for the foul kir royals, and the meh pate and the profiteroles. On the mains alone, I'd have easily done 4. For the boeuf bourguignon, I'd have done 5. Worth further investigation. But please fix the bizarro music playlist.

Yelp
We decided to come here for brunch and wow, what an experience! To set the scene, it was a beautiful day on Park Avenue and the weather was perfect for outdoor seating. We had made a reservation prior but it wasn't needed since most of the restaurant was empty. We opted in for the bottomless brunch which comes with a main breakfast entree for a fixed price. I decided to go with the breakfast sandwich which was not only filling but savory as well! I'd recommend this spot for groups and it also seems like a great dinner date spot as well.

Yelp
The quintessential 4.5 star place, my friend and I really enjoyed our dinner. Ross was our waiter and he was awesome, great service and really knowledgeable with the menu. I would say all the food was enjoyable and we were both really happy with our meal but nothing was mind-blowingly delicious, all the dishes were very good. I wanted to visit this place since this is the former spot of Les Halles, Anthony Bourdain worked here for a number of years so it was nice to revisit this since I went to Les Halles many years ago. The food Foie Gras Maison- Date lemon chutney, balsamic reduction, country toast. The foie dish was very good, the date lemon chutney was a perfect pairing. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5suzPe6dIP20gBnMIakPLA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Tarte a l'Oignon- Puff pastry, caramelized onions, lardon. Ross recommended this and man, oh man that lardon! This was so comforting and rustic. The tart was made well, it could been a tad more crisp but the flavor was so good. The salad on this was interesting, I felt it was a tad bitter and underdressed but the more I ate it, the more I felt the bitterness was a welcome addition and it was properly dressed. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=FEEkrFJ5y4MJR1WexBd9aQ&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Steak Frites with Sauce Entrecote- Bavette, homemade fries, watercress. This dish was an homage to Anthony Bourdain. The steak frites were made well. The fries were seasoned in a way that made me think of old bay. The steak had good flavor and was cooked to a perfect medium rare but most bavette steaks I have had, it does come with some chewy pieces and this was no different. The entrecote sauce was a nice pairing with the steak. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=mG2rhn7rG4uX6pncPr_cew&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Bouillabaisse- Branzino, scallop, shrimps, saffron potatoes, zucchini, fennel. Oh my was this broth seafood forward. The broth really screamed essence of the sea and to me, it felt like a lobster bisque but I was told there was no lobster in the dish. The scallops and the branzino were the two stars of the dish. Both were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor, I thought this dish was made well but felt this dish came off rather small to me. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=7w0dH3PCBT_Bfr_0OQZmMA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Banana Soufflé- Banana, brandy, chocolate sauce. This was a fun and unique way to finish the meal. I appreciated how the desert wasn't too sweet. The soufflé had like a banana mousse flavor throughout but I did feel the texture of the banana itself was missing which I would have appreciated it for texture. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=c1wqyYFzrwETvxFxJWdaxw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA

Yelp
Decent spot for quick french food and decent prices. No disrespect, this is like a french diner (a very good diner.) I could see myself coming back after a night of drinking. Short rib was a little dry but the sauce and mashed potatoes were good. Very nice and peaceful environment and parking was easy to find

Josh W.

Yelp
Very good spot. The ambience is great with large comfy booths, mood lighting, and a quiet noise level! The service is excellent and fast. Free bread and butter is incredible - they refilled mine 3 times!! The French onion soup was also divine. The star of the show was the steak and the steak frites. Both very good and tender with great dipping sauces as well! I didn't try and drinks or dessert this time but will when I return!

Yelp
We had lunch/brunch today on a very rainy day in NYC. This small French bistro is housed in one of the most iconic restaurant locations in the city, the old Les Halles. Suffice to say, you will not have a better French bistro experience in the city. Balthazar has nothing on this restaurant. Hospitality was gracious and accommodating. The manager was kind enough to do a table visit to welcome us. Food was superb. Salad Niçoise was spot on as was the classic French omelet. Profiteroles were a delicious conclusion to lunch. Run. Do not walk to this restaurant, and enjoy.

Yelp
First visit back to the Big Apple since before the pandemic - fortunately found Chez Francis - it just opened its doors nine days ago - amazing and beautiful space extremely attentive, service, and great food!

Joy T.

Yelp
We enjoy traveling for food. We made a last minute dinner reservation to Chez Francis and was not disappointed. Great service and great food/drinks. Thoughtful and knowledgeable suggestions with wine from our server. Highly recommend! We had a wonderful experience.

Denis F.

Yelp
Excellent experience at Chez Francis. Our waiter Jason was fantastic. Highly recommend the rillette, the lobster bisque, the French onion soup, and the cheese plate. The ambiance is French chic but relaxed, exactly what a high end brasserie should be.

Carissa C.

Yelp
Came here for Sunday brunch. Inside is classic Midtown vibes. Server was attentive and kept refilling coffee. Food has a great taste and was served quickly.

Noelle H.

Yelp
A beautiful French restaurant in a great location. Great, friendly service and delicious food. Excellent bread and salted butter, a gorgeous charcuterie board, and a fantastic soufflé. I'll definitely be coming back!

Phoebe A.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to try the brunch. We got some Kir Royales, which were nice and bubbly. I also enjoyed the Croque Monsieur. Service staff was very accommodating, even helping us work through some pricing issues. All in all, it was a lovely French-style brunch experience.

Franny A.

Yelp
Rising out of the Les Halles Anthony Bourda legacy, LaBrasserie, updates a lovely space and snarky moves TVs bar. I went at lunch and the lunch crowd comes late though not at full swing yet. Ate and drank: Cab franc $16 Modules. And salads $30 Haricot verte almandine $13 Soufflé chairs $13 Great wine, gratiis baguette also delicious and a truly magnifque meal. Get a banquette.

Stephen P.

Yelp
I have finally found a French restaurant in the city that makes a real French omelette! The difference is that it begins as soft scrambled eggs that are then gently rolled into omelette form resulting in a uniquely indulgent texture. Beautiful space with high ceilings, nickel bar, and antiques mirrors. Great service with a real French chef in the kitchen serving classic brasserie cuisine. Super excited to come back and try this with Boursin cheese filling! Enjoy!

Sebastien M.

Yelp
Great french food menus with very decent price for New York City. Big fan of their frog legs and the late hours for dining. Former restaurant of Anthony Bourdain!

Jennifer P.

Yelp
It was okay... I wouldn't travel to come here. It was typical French cuisine. The food itself did not blow me away. The presentation for the tuna tartare and the beef tartare was nice. The bone marrow just just regular bone marrow with no seasoning, not even salt. We ordered the Dover sole special (with wilted spinach, potatoes, and a brown butter sauce). The Dover sole was room temperature and dry. The potatoes weren't cooked all the way. The bronzino was better but again nothing special. My girlfriends ordered a passion fruit crème brûlée for dessert and the presentation was nice but the texture was a little odd. The service over all was excellent. The bill came out to $150 each with tax and tip for the three of us $450. For $150 per person for a meh experience I would not go back.

Winnie P.

Yelp
The steak frites is wonderful! The steak is cooked perfect, the source is delicious and the fries are so crunchy. I would come back just for this dish.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Finally! A decent price French bistro in Manhattan with good service and food. Dinner last night was delightfully overshadowed by excellent service. My colleague and I ordered all appetizers and sides to share. Each was delicious and unlike most places in the city, the service was formidable....great! Good French onion soup and salad. The haricot verts excellent.

Natalie B.

Yelp
Giving Chez Francis a 5-star review for their attentive personnel and delicious food. The menu is small which I always appreciate - to me, it means the restaurant focuses on the quality, not quantity. The wine list is substantial, and the desserts are exquisite. Nice presentation as well. Thank you!

Bonnie S.

Yelp
This is quite a gem. Not only is the food reasonably price and DELICIOUS, the service is literally the BEST. We got some appetizer to share: esgarot (yummy garlic sauce!), steak tartare, and Tarte aux Champignons. Everything was done perfectly and really really good. For the entrees, the table had steak frites, Bouillabaisse, and the duck - everything was amazing. The steaks were cooked perfectly and came with sauce of choice, the Bouillabaisse was done well, and the duck was very flavorful and tender. We got a banana desert to share since we were already stuffed, and that was unique and everyone was happy as well. Delirious with the good food, I left the restaurant without my purse!!! And when we were more than a block away, a staff member RAN OUT looking for us and brought my purse to me!!! He was definitely my hero of the night and the level of service was ABOVE AND BEYOND. Because of him, my night was GREAT (instead of the alternative). Cannot recommend this place enough!!!

Jay A.

Yelp
Stopped in for martinis and snacks at the bar. Staff was great and French charcuterie board was delicious. This new restaurant is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Recommend for dinner.

T M C.

Yelp
So glad to have this new iteration of a New York staple back and even more charming. Go for the Sunday brunch with live jazz! Food, cocktail concoctions, and service are worth the price of admission.

Nina Z.

Yelp
Was super excited to try out the restaurant week menu only to come in and seeing a completely different menu for restaurant week. Only a few items were the same but none of the entrees. Still we ordered from it to try it out. The $45 pre fixe menu really comes with 3 courses but portions sizes were tiny. We started out with the escargot casserole, which came in these very cute mini Dutch oven-like pots. The taste was decent but the toast was on the harder side. However, the complimentary bread was really good and definitely the best thing from the dinner. The Atlantic salmon entree was very small and came on top of a couple of haricot verts. The haricot verts were tasteless and almost tasted like school cafeteria steamed beans. The salmon was bland as well, although it was cooked to a nice medium. For dessert, I ordered the orange blossom panna cotta which was definitely the worst panna cotta I've ever had. It was not sweet and also on the blander side with maybe a hint of salt, which was a strange flavor to taste in a panna cotta. I also wasn't a fan of the jello layer on top but the berry confit was fine. I'm not sure how the profiteroles au chocolat were but they did look appealing. The interior is beautiful and spacious. The service was ok; there was a little bit of sass from out waiter who seemed to have a lot to say about how we asked questions and how we should order, nothing too crazy. I really wanted to enjoy this place but it was not for me. Maybe their regular menu was better. 1.5/5

Alex P.

Yelp
Incredible steak frites and an enjoyable staff. The staff was very caring and ensuring it was a first class experience. Very excited to have Chez Francis a few blocks away - will be my steak frites recommendation to all.

Alisija D.

Yelp
Such a lovely restaurant with a great ambience. There was life jazz music and the staff was very warm and kind. The food was delicious!

Nicole A.

Yelp
I came here as was looking for a nice place to have dinner. Saw their prix fixe $45 menu before 6 pm on their website. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Liked the atmosphere a lot. That said, the food was on the middling side and portions were small. I left a bit unimpressed at the food.

Kathy K.

Yelp
We ate here last night and it was divine in every way. Our waiter, Joshua was very knowledgeable and fun. I had the steak frites and my boyfriend had the Branzino both dishes were scrumptious. The bernaise sauce and fries were very much in the Anthony Boudain tradition. I hear the frogs legs will be returning to the menu! Definitely will return on a regular basis. Oh and the interior is quite lovely!

Alan M.

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner here tonight and we really enjoyed it! The souffles were amazing and the mussels were among the best that we have had anywhere! All the food was excellent! The atmosphere is warm with really nice French jazz music and it is truly a lovely place to be. The staff are incredibly friendly! We are looking forward to going back!

Patrick R.

Yelp
Unfortunate. Live in the hood, been coming here since it opened, always great food and service. Tonight, charged $2 for ice - really? Happy to pay for food, drinks, wine, etc. Stopped in for drinks on way home from night out, ordered a martini, they asked on rocks, I said sure, received bill - $2 charge for ice. $2 for ice in drink. Lost a local customer.

Melissa E.

Yelp
I came here for their bottomless brunch on Sunday and it was great! For the brunch, you can get bottomless Mimosas or Kir Royale (champagne and creme de cassis). Then, you get a sweet or savory entree. I got the French toast with berries and lemon chantilly, which was perfect- bread wasn't too thick and it was all cooked well. My friend got the yummy smoked salmon Benedict, and even the breakfast potatoes on it were excellent. We closed out by getting the apple tart with vanilla ice cream - the ideal conclusion to a delicious brunch.

Hal T.

Yelp
Stopped in for hot French Onion Soup to warm up on a cold Fall day. The soup and a cheese assortment were excellent. Highly recommend--and we'll be back!

Helen S.

Yelp
Good value plat du jour that is available until 3pm. Would highly recommend and great value for the area

Nico P.

Yelp
10/10 food. 10/10 service. 10/10 ambiance. Our server William was amazing, we were celebrating a birthday and he made it super special. We started off with the escargot and had the magret and steak frites as our main. We ordered a bottle of red and it was delicious. The managers were also extremely helpful and welcoming. Would recommend this to anyone and we will be back when visiting New York again.

Marie A.

Yelp
Fabulous dinner and the service was truly wonderful. Our waitress Katie was a gem, guiding through the menu with a wealth of knowledge. She made the entire experience so memorable. The mussels were portioned generously and the fries that accompanied them hit the spot. We came to dine early at 630pm and by the time we left almost every table in our sightline was filled. Definitely want to come back for seconds!

Tomio I.

Yelp
My wife and I have not been to New York for about 15 years so we were looking for a nice romantic place with great food and service. After a long day of travel delays and missed flights, we finally arrived and upon recommendation of a friend, we went to La Brasserie. Well we were simply blown away. Words cannot describe how good the food was and the incredible service just put it in a category of its own! Ross was the best server... with the best attitude and attention to detail! His knowledge of food and wine made the experience simply outstanding. We're going to remember this for the rest of our lives as one of the best meals my wife and I have enjoyed together. And we've been up and down the East Coast, to California and Hawaii, and also to Asia. We had the tuna tartar and pumpkin soup as appetizers and both were just fabulous. The tuna with avocado topping was so smooth with a little zing of Yuzu vinaigrette, but that soup! I will come back just for that Pumpkin soup alone. It was so creamy and delicious and the presentation was like Fall on a plate, see the photo. We then had some Wellfleet oysters which were plump and super fresh with a tomato mignonette that was better than any I've ever had. Then as our main course, my wife had the Branzino and I, the scallops. Both were perfectly cooked and seasoned and that mushroom risotto that came with the scallops was perfect in on a cool October evening in the city. Each course was expertly paired with different wine by our server Ross, starting with a sparkling aperitif and ending with a nice slightly sweet digestif. Then we sampled an amazing selection of desserts which I can't even begin to describe, but the souffles... WOW! So delicate, yet the gooey goodness within... it's to die for! Kudos to the chef, wait staff, bar and managers for creating something very special here! Highly recommend La Brasserie to anyone looking for a great dinner in New York.

Mackie S.

Yelp
Went to La Brasserie for lunch during Restaurant week. It was a great way to try out a place normally out of my price range, so happy that I did. Food were beautifully plated and flavors went together so nicely. I normally don't order cold soups, but the gazpacho with watermelon sorbet intrigued me, and was delightfully surprised. The staff was attentive but did not hover, our reservation was at noon when they just opened and was not busy at all.

Anre G.

Yelp
Seeking a late night find for a fav French dish, Steak frites, ventured out to recently opened "La Brasserie" after walking by few days earlier. And with a full 5-star Yelp review, figured I'd give them a try. But alas, my fellow yelpers, let me down and keeping forget that new restaurant review rule of thumb, never trust a new joint with less than 10 reviews, especially when they're all 5's! That out of the way, the restaurant itself is spacious, with typical old school French decor. Hostess and all waitstaff, extremely professional and friendly, service is definitely top notch. But as we all know when heading out to "eat" it's the "food," that ultimately counts the most. And unfortunately on that account, La Brasserie, misses the mark. Everything is just OK. It typically starts with the bread. For the most part, if a restaurant serves you first with complimentary bread and it's off the chart, 9 times out of 10, the meal that follows will be off the chart as well. So the bread was warm, always a good sign, but nothing special, just ok, but when you're hungry, you sorta let your guard down, and hope that what follows will break that mold. But the escargot that followed, (served warm in a dish, Not piping hot in a escargot plate in butter, garlic and parsley) was a sign that this night was not to be. Needless to say, the steak frites that followed did not live up to expectations; and at approx. $43 def had expected better; with a glass of wine entire bill was about $83. Since they've recently opened, perhaps the chef and management are still working out the kinks, but as it stands now, La Brassiere is not ready for prime time imho and doubt will be going back anytime soon, especially with so many other great French restaurants in the city. But please give them a try as perhaps an off night and with the city just starting to get back on its feet, most restaurants need all the support they can get.

Yelp
I have been a big fan of Staub cookware for years. I was very happy to hear that Chef Staub opened a French Brasserie in the space formerly occupied by Les Halles. I live and work in the neighborhood so I was even happier to learn on their website that they deliver locally. Taking advantage of delivery, I ordered lunch through their website. I ordered the foie gras maison (torchon), the cheese burger, and the penne millerighe. The order was delivered on time, was nicely packaged and arrived at the proper temperature. The hamburger was cooked perfectly rare as I requested. It was juicy and seasoned well. The caramelized onions and "tartar sauce" only added to its decadence. While the french fries were plentiful and delicious, I would have preferred them delivered in a paper bag, rather than in a plastic container, in order to maintain crispness. Nevertheless, they were the best tasting fries I've had in a long time. What can be said about foie gras? Here, it is served as a torchon with toast, balsamic reduction and a lemon chutney. The combination of the silky foie gras, together with the sweet and tart balsamic reduction and chutney, provides for an umami explosion. The penne was cooked perfectly al dente. The bisque-like sauce, which they call a lime emulsion, was full of lobster essence. There were little slices of lobster meat which added to its luxuriousness. The portion sizes are satisfying. The prices are fair. I wish this new restaurant all the success in the world. I highly recommend.

Yelp
I had been wanting to come here for a while as a former fan of Les Halles and finally stopped in for lunch today. Bread for the table was super fresh and crispy/warm. They have a price fix menu for $35 with your choice of appetizer, main and dessert which was a great deal! (Not sure if they have this on weekends or just mid week). The portion for the steak frites was small but it makes sense given the price as an a la carte main. Steak comes on the rare side so tell your server if you want it medium. The clam chowder was great-- not too heavy. Good bloody Mary's too served mid week!

Yelp
Love. Food was exceptional. We got the pre-fixe $35 three course lunch special that they serve from, I believe, 11am-3pm. Timing could be slightly off there. We had frog legs, lamb with roasted potato, and passion fruit crème brûlée. I ate there like a week ago and my mouth is watering on tastebud memory just writing this review. Customer service, impeccable. We had a rez at 12p but the trains were not cooperating and they let us switch it to 12:30p without incident. Granted it was a Wednesday afternoon and not too busy but still. Luis our server was spot on and, very much in the French dining style, made sure every thing was great and then let us sit around undisturbed. He was always close by though right when you needed him. Spot is a little higher on the price scale but it's Park Ave in NYC so have reasonable expectations. Great experience. Amazing food. Beautiful space.

Yelp
Top to bottom excellent. We came based on reviews and proximity to our hotel and it was delightful in every way (Don't miss the back wall bookcase with Michelin guides from 1901 to present) - it was a delight and I'd recommend to anyone; dark and cozy yet energized with great food and staff.

Yelp
This kind of restaurant is what sets the NY stander. honest classic French foods that's not overly elaborated and priced. The generous portion of the escargot perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. The Bouillabaisse was fresh with rich broth. The passion fruit cream brûlée was excellent. Overall good food experience.

Yelp
This place is really whatever. The food was good but nothing special. Our waitress had an attitude and was borderline rude. The atmosphere was also nothing to rave about. There are dozens of better French restaurants in Manhattan...

Yelp
Every bite, every sauce, even the mild toughness of the steak frite reminded me of Paris! Fries were amazing and not cold (and I picked up). Well done!

Yelp
Their Escargot is absolutely delectable! It's well worth the trip just to taste that dish alone! The atmosphere is warm and sophisticated, beautiful environment as well. Eat inside not out. Enjoy!

Yelp
Great restaurant with incredible service. When the restaurant first opened up, my girlfriend and I decided to try it and absolutely loved it. Since then we probably go once a week and have never had a bad meal. More importantly than the food, the service is always top notch and welcoming. The waiters are beyond knowledgable on the various dishes and the ingredients that make them up and the ambiance is classy and understating while high end. I highly recommend La Brasserie as it has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan
