Brasserie Les Trois Rois

"This attractive brasserie with its classic, elegant design and a fantastic view of the Rhine is located in the left wing of the hotel Les Trois Rois. The French-Swiss cuisine also has international influences: The menu includes a good selection of classic and seasonal dishes, which are presented at your table by the attentive waitstaff. Brunch is served on Sundays. Tip: You can look into the kitchen through a window in the passageway leading to reception." - Michelin Inspector

My husband and I celebrated a wedding anniversary at The Brasserie. It was a perfect evening; we thoroughly enjoyed the upscale ambience, the view of the beautiful Rhine, the personable service and of course the exquisite food and drinks. We would like to express our gratitude to Mr David and Mr Hervé: they both made our time at the restaurant extra special with their warm humour and sincere friendliness. The entire team signed a hand-written card for our anniversary - a memory we will cherish forever. Thank you all so much! ❤️ We think you are world-class and we can’t wait to be back.

Right on the Rhine River this is my favorite French restaurant in Basel. It is definitely formal and a bit expensive but not expensive compared to restaurants in other larger cities like NYC or Paris or Michelin starred prefix menus. I feel that it is totally worth it especially if you’re a tourist and really want to soak in some of the best sites of the city. The restaurant has a very romantic vibe so it would be great for a date, dinner with friends or family, or something more social versus a business location. Our server was extremely polite and all around there was top-notch five star service. Everything that we ordered came out pretty fast and to say that they were very attentive would be an understatement. I started off my meal with a really nice glass of Bordeaux and it really got my hunger going for what was ahead. For my starter I chose the Saumon Marine which is basically a Salmon Crudo and I thought it was great. It was light and refreshing and woke up my taste buds for my entrée, which was the Sole Meunière. I’ve had this dish many times in my life at many different locations and this was one of the better ones I’ve had in a long time. It was made perfectly and the flavors lasted throughout the rest of the night. I would highly recommend ordering it and I also would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was one of our more memorable moments of our time in Basel.

An exceptional experience from start to finish—truly one of the finest hotels I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. I went for high tea, and the service was impeccable. The staff were gracious and attentive, thoughtfully explaining each item with care and precision. They also made sure that the seating provided was comfortable and to my liking. The atmosphere exuded elegance, and the hospitality was second to none. I wholeheartedly recommend this destination to anyone seeking a refined and memorable experience.

As an avid traveler from Paris, I’m often hesitant when it comes to finding a restaurant that can truly measure up to the standards one expects in the French capital. Yet, what a delightful surprise this was, a charming, clean, and beautifully appointed establishment, with a warm and professional welcome. The quality of the food matched the excellence of the service. I highly recommend this place, a truly enjoyable experience.

Extremely disappointing and discriminatory experience – not worthy of a world-class destination I visited Hotel Les Trois Rois during Art Basel, expecting high standards of hospitality, safety, and professionalism. Instead, I encountered a deeply misogynistic and discriminatory attitude, particularly from the hotel security staff. This hotel is shockingly unfriendly towards women. Any man can make even the slightest comment about a woman—guest or visitor—and security will immediately side with the man without investigating or listening to the woman’s side of the story. It was alarming to witness such blind favoritism and bias. This kind of outdated, patriarchal behavior has no place in modern Switzerland, let alone in a hotel that markets itself as "luxury" and "world-class." The behavior I observed from staff was not just dismissive but completely unprofessional and unacceptable. As a woman, I did not feel safe, welcome, or respected. It felt like stepping into another era—one where a woman’s word meant nothing and male guests held all the power, no matter how inappropriate or unfounded their behavior was. If you value equality, dignity, and respectful treatment, I urge you to stay elsewhere. Art Basel brings international visitors who expect a cosmopolitan level of service. Les Trois Rois failed spectacularly on that front. This is not just a bad hotel experience—it's a shame for Swiss hospitality as a whole. Avoid this hotel if you're a woman traveling alone, with friends, or simply someone who believes in fair treatment.

Last night we enjoyed a most excellent dinner in the Brasserie. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was very attentive and smiley. In addition, the chef was able to swap an ingredient out if my husband's dish to accommodate his allergy; the alternative was also absolutely delicious and the dish did not suffer as a result of the swap. I recommend this restaurant and the staff...

An absolute gorgeous and mind blowing destination and probably it’s needless to say while you notice it being a part of a famous and historic 5-star hotel as well as having 3 Michelin stars rated. Very welcoming and friendly staffs. Scrumptious food options with nice variety. Nice and gorgeous interior. In the heart of the city, just by the river Rhine. Also, we will say decently affordable even after considering the star rated! Highly recommended 👍🏼

Yelp
Exceptional views from the terrace for drinks or a meal. Very expensive; $48 Euro for a chicken Caesar and $50 EU for a burger. Kings and dignitaries have dined here for 100's of years. Lovely ambiance for afternoon tea or cocktails.

Yelp
With views of the river, this is a beautiful setting to dine. The food was exceptional as was the service. The schnitzel was elevated by a fruit compote that was just the right combination of sweet and tart. While prices might seem high, it seems that dining in Switzerland is more than elsewhere. Schnitzel at 58 Euro is not too bad when a run-of-the-mill pizza down the street is 30 Euro. Well worth the cost as it will be the highlight of your trip. We had a sampling from the dessert cart, which included a chocolate cake, pie and floating islands- all delicious. Some artisanal chocolate finished an unforgettable dinner. Be sure to walk thru the hotel lobby as you leave.
