Only the ambience is as expected!! Out of around 50 tables outside, we were 3 tables with 3 waiters. It took us 15’ to order!! The nicely dressed tables were not for breakfast! We ordered 2 breakfasts. One came with no croissants as they said they only had 1 left!!! How can you offer breakfast, in France, 6 people around and you run out of croissants in the morning!! Also, Grande coffee, turn out to be a small cup!! Would not recommend, and I seldomly give bad comments

Service was a bit slow but it was a busy Friday night and our food was lovely! Beautiful view of the cathedral and great for a sunny evening.

Nice local brasserie. Friendly staff and good food

Staff were friendly and good service. 3 of us got chicken and it was dry and overcooked. Fairly sure there was butter in the sauce for all of us despite one person telling them she had a milk allergy. Our starter was great, though. There are better options in this city, IMO.

My wife had a very dry chicken in cider sauce. My entrecote was of quite ordinary standard. Noway impressive. French bistros can be found with a better cuisine. They compensated my wife with a dessert free of charge.

Don't like tourists and are not consistent, waitress cleaning glass with spray outside next to where we were drinking, Also my wife white wine was not served in a ice bag but we witnessed other people's being severed in a ice bag to keep it cool. We asked for a menu 3 times we witnessed other local people being served before 19.00, but at 19.15, nobody attended to our order. This was Wedesday, 03 June 2025, and evening. It's disappointing because we eat there on Saturday the 31st of May and it's was really good, obviously it was different staff I.e. inconsistent and not tourist friendly, the boss needs to train some of his/her staff about customer service, We left before ordering food "bad experience"

Traditional brasserie with amazing views of the Rouen cathedral. Great to have lunch or even get a highly recommended cafe gourmand (expresso coffee with tiny desserts). They offer a formule for €20 that includes an starter and plate. We enjoyed the escargots and the dessert. Salad has a small portion of tuna which was not great. Place was full of locals. Place is a bit pricey.

Yelp
I almost wondered if they were associated w/ the bakery Paul that I so much adore. I don't think they are, but the food here is top in this region for serving authentic Normandy dishes. You'll find Normandy beef tartare, Normandy Chicken, Camembert souflee, and a Normandy steak. The set lunch is about 25$ euroes but you get the side, main entree, and the dessert. The dessert list is monstrous btw, and I coulnd't understand most of it, but there are a few key things to get. Sides: Mom got the foie gras with smoked duck slices on top of apple salad (highly recommend for those who want to check off foie gras off your list but have a balanced veggie plate). The apple and duck balanced each other nicely. I had the camembert tart soaked in melted camembert. Not for those who can't handle stronger and soft cheeses, but the melted gooeyness alongside such flakey tart was absolutely delicious. There is something light despite the heavy creams/cheeses/breads that the French people use. If you're afraid of greasiness, this dish does not have that. You don't see a puddle of oil on anything which you would easily see in the US. That is the beauty of any food I find in france. Rich ingredients but don't pile a large pile of oil, an art I think we can learn from. Main entree: We ordered the Normandy steak, the Normandy chicken, and my sister had the Entree du jour which is the salmon with the red wine sauce. Most french cooking will taste "bland" to people who are from Asian countries or nations with heavier spices. french food however is complexly layered with wines and stews and separate parts that must be made in the right order to achieve such fluffiness, butteriness, etc. If you are someone who has keen tastebuds, you will appreciate that the blandness itself is an art that makes you want to finish your meal! I don't recommend salt/peppering your food until you've taken a bite and appreciate the complex wines and refined tastes. Normandy steak came with caramelized onions. The chicken was a thigh, but compared to American chicken, this was not some fat thick thigh you find at Popeyes but a tougher almost rooster version. The sauce was mildly strong in terms of odor like a sweet cheese/wine smell but went nicely with the chicken. Beef- anything grass fed is always going to have a stronger taste. I thought it was fine, but French beef is clearly different from American beef, so if you're used to a milder tasting steak, well marinated, then this dish may be a little strong for you. Dessert: Chocolate mousse was WAY too sweet. I was surprised b/c most French desserts are not that sugary. If there's a 3 chocolate cake layer, get that. It was outstanding. It was mouse, real dark chocolate, and multiple layers that were none too sweet and had disparate textures/tastes/sweetness to it that was delightlful on the tastebuds and made you feel satisfied (hits the right spot). Creme brulee can't go wrong, but this one was a sweeter verson of what I've had so far in France. There are other choices, and you can't go wrong with any of them, but if I would say, for people who love sweet, go with mousse, people who love choclate do the 3 chocolate cake. Service was excellent. Think starch stiff white long sleeve shirts, black ties, and old school French waiter vibe amid an old school up scale setting. Great experience. Highly recommend

Yelp
Brasserie Paul is a classic French Bistro with excellent service and delicious service. I am not sure why there are so many mixed reviews of them as we had a great time. We both order the set dinner menu and I had a glass of wine. Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
Service was slow and it was a sweltering evening. Water was sparse. The food was good.

Yelp
We needed brunch on a Sunday, when many restaurants are closed. Paul was open and had open tables so we rather unreflectively chose it. It turned out to be a good option--All three of us had the Croque Cheval, a simple, traditional ham and cheese sandwich topped with a fried egg. They were served with fried potatoes. The meal was nothing fancy but it was exactly right for that morning for us. Service was prompt and not exactly friendly, but cordial. One of the nicest things about Brasserie Paul is its location, directly on the square looking across at the Rouen Cathedral. On a beautiful day, it's hard to do better than that.

Yelp
An institution founded in 1898 this place is what the French call "correct". Classic dishes well prepared with quality ingredients at a reasonable price. As for welcome the best test is to show up early for lunch with a big stroller and a sleeping child. If they welcome you with a smile and make a place for the stroller at a table with a view of the Cathedral you know you came to the right place. Before us was a group of old servicemen, now the table next to us is an extended family celebrating Grandmas birthday. In short, an institution.

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic homemade French food, you won't find it here. We had chicken and steak and both were rubbery. The food is not terrible but there are much better places in the city.
