I have been to the Brasserie already a couple of times and I am still a fan. Location is prime, right in the heart of the Altstadt. It's situated in the historic Stadthaus, the main dining room has high wooden antique ceilings. Setting is simple elegant. For the warmer months they have a beautiful terrace which I highly recommend.
Service is attentive and friendly although some of the servers could be more knowledgeable when it comes to wine. It is not always necessary to ask the sommelier.
They have a decent wine list concentrating on wines from France. Their selection for Champagnes is excellent, their selection for white and reds is just fine. I would have expected a better selection.
Their kitchen is excellent, they serve classic Brasserie dishes with a modern touch. Every now and then they will change their menu according to season, keeping the classics.
Their oysters were super fresh, the Steak Frites cooked to perfection with an incredible grapefruit bernaise. If you have the chance try the veal tongue and the scallops.
I haven't tried their desserts yet which look yummy just from reading the menu.
The head chef makes a round after dinner service greeting all of the guests personally. This is a really nice touch.
I may not be cheap but for this experience it's excellent value for money.
One final note which is worth mentioning, they don't accept credit cards, which seems to be a trend for classy restaurants in Germany.
