The Best Restaurant Patios and Outdoor Dining in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Schnitzel hanging over the plate, German beer and wine on tap, fresh baked pretzels, all kinds of sausages, and a roomy area for kids to roam. That’s the gist of this friendly spot in the Bywater next door to Pizza D. Bratz Ya’ll has a few indoor high tops, but try for a seat at the communal picnic tables, where dogs are welcome, kids can be loud, and the vibe is chill." - Missy Frederick

The Best Sandwiches in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"This family and dog friendly Bywater biergarten is so welcoming, with its picnic tables outside and area for the kiddos to romp. Bratz Y’All! dishes terrific sausage sandwiches with names like the Berliner, a beauty of a grilled smoked pork link topped with fried onions and apple curry ketchup. The schnitzel sandwich, choice of fried chicken or pork cutlet, is slathered with crawfish remoulade slaw on a muffuletta bun, and is most excellent." - Beth D’Addono

New Orleans’ Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants | Eater New Orleans

"A solid stateside representation of a German biergarten all the way down to the handwriting on the menus, Bratz Y’all’s outdoor area sits far back from the street with shaded picnic tables, fans, and a giant Connect Four game for entertainment. The giant pretzels are the main draw for kids, but the kids’ menu includes a pretzel dog, chicken schnitzel fingers (basically, chicken fingers), and a sausage plate. Plus, it’s just around the corner from Crescent Park, perfect for checking out the mighty Mississippi before or after the meal." - Eater Staff

Google
i’ve been wanting to go for a while and it did not disappoint! we got the warm pretzel, a chicken schnitzel, and a bavarian brat (their most standard one) - the chicken schnitzel and the hot potato salad were the highlight for me the vibe on their patio was SO cute; it was quiet and charming when we went, but i imagine it would be a great happy hour spot too

Google
I just got the bee sting cake and their soft pretzel, but both had me in awe with how good they were. That cake is probably one of the best cakes I've ever had, insanely soft and moist with a great honey flavor that wasn't overpowering. The pretzel also slaps -- amazing crusty exterior, soft interior, perfectly and evenly salted, and tastes great (also it's bigger than my face). Best part is, it's only $4 during Happy Hour. I've really got to try their other items, but just these two non-entrees (and the really friendly staff) have made me a big fan.

Google
Great place, great food and beer, friendly service. A one off/change of pace in New Orleans. The traditional German foods and beers are so good that this place is on my frequent hits for lunch or dinner. The owner is often on location and takes his quality control seriously. From appetizers to desserts this is a must for locals and tourists alike!

Google
Great German Food in New Orleans. A very cool joint right next to Euclid Records. I got the Bavarian (Pork / Veal Sausage with Kraut, caramelized onions and Mustard. It was really good!! Great Beer too!! Check the place out!!

Google
Wonderful service and a lovely ambuance at this nice outdoor Bier garden. German food fair is only good while the staff and beer make this a very pleasant place to spend some time.

Google
I had the pork knuckle today. It was good, but not as good as I had in Munich. It could have been a bit crispier. It came with good sauerkraut. It came with Gulden's mustard. They should think about crafting their mustard, which would be much more authentic. There are many picnic tables for outside seating on a nice day and plenty of on-street parking. The pork knuckle wasn't cheap at $29. I might be back to try some of the brats.

Google
We were in Germany two years ago and always try German food everywhere we go since coming back and this is definitely the closest we’ve found to authentic Germany food. The potato salad is a must try!!! Loved everything about this place!!

Google
We really love Bratz Y’all! Bistro. This is also a bakery and a biergarten and they bake their own pretzels and goodies right here. The food is very good, authentic and super fresh. The ambiance is a lot like being in a German Biergarten, fun and friendly. Their service is also very good. A really fun spot to eat.

Yelp
This was a fun little nook tucked away in NOLA. They have a large Biergarten which is really nice and feels like an oasis in the middle of the city. My group went on a Tuesday which is when they have trivia. Unfortunately a storm came down and everyone had to move inside. Inside is super small and I don't believe they have AC so it was super swampy. The food is fine if you like German food. I ordered the döner and it was super weird. It came on a hamburger bun. It was tasty and had a little kick to it. Ordering food was a hassle. We waited in line for a while before being told they were taking a ten minute break for food orders so we could only get drinks. They have a decent selection of drinks, particularly German beers and they come in large sized glasses. Overall a decent time. I would like to go back when it's not as busy and see if it's a more streamlined process.

Yelp
I had the deliciously huge serving, the Hunter's Platter, consisting of breaded chicken schnitzel, mashed potatoes, caraway slaw, and topped with lickable mushroom gravy. The beirgarden was serene, a perfect spot for lunch with my dog.

Yelp
I checked this place out for their opening weekend and over the years it has turned into a nice spot to enjoy a German style beer garden. They have expanded the menu some to offer more interesting items and really do a nice menu during Oktoberfest time. I am disappointed they don't offer veal or venison schnitzel. They have some appetizer snacks like pretzels and such and usually have a small but decent dessert menu. Overall this is a good addition to the neighborhood but I still really hope they expand the schnitzel offerings and maybe keep some of the expanded Oktoberfest menu offerings as part of their full time menu. My video review of Bratz Y'all is here: https://youtu.be/1tlUNTnM7l4 *Update: they have added chicken schnitzel.

Yelp
The food was delicious and plentiful. It's pretty much h self.servoce as you place your order at the counter and they call.your number. The ambiance seems nice in the beer garden. However, it was 97 degrees, so it was hot both indoors and out.

Yelp
What a surprise!!! Probably the best German food we've had in a long time. It was pouring rain when our Uber dropped us off. We initially couldn't find it but after making a call to a friend who got there before us, it's actually behind a pizza place and not on the street. There is a music venue attached to a small German eatery that has a nice menu of traditional favorites. German and Belgian style beers are on tap, cans or bottles. They have wine offerings as well. Like I said the food was delicious and the portions big for the price. Too bad it was a soft (rainy) and swampy night in NOLA. Sitting outside would have been pretty cool. But, we had a very nice time at Bratz Ya'll.

Yelp
Staying in the quarter with a 2hr flight delay, we decided to hoof it over, with a fairly straight & level shot along the water & it took about 40min. We stepped through a gate where menus were posted, in what feels kind of like an industrial site or garage/repair shop. We walked through the biergarten to the main building, which has the typical dive bar appearance. We were greeted by the unmistakable aroma of red cabbage... Since we were mainly killing time, we opted to split a King Brat & a Salted Pretzel ($3 happy hour) with Horseradish Dip & 2 half pints ($5 happy hour). I believe that this was our best bang for the buck purchase while in NOLA. I tried to come up with something that I feel needed improving and I'm drawing a blank. We were shown menus on walking up (but has already decided at the gate), the tap options were ran through verbally and staff offered to answer any questions. We ordered at the counter, took our beer & number, then sat outside. The seating area wasn't cluttered & had that "you're not in the quarter anymore" vibe. The food was all fresh, hot and delivered to the table. The sausage snapped on bite-through, flavor profiles were a lovely combination & we loved it. 100% will be back. We met the owner while there and chatted briefly. As he's from Berlin, & that's on our list, it was great to have a quick one-on-one.

Yelp
Dig the location. Had the Black Forest beer brat and that was so damn good. I wish I would have ordered another brat sandwich instead of a pretzel. The pretzel was good the caraway Brie dip had funky bits through out that I didn't enjoy but still ate it. That brat though was so damn good. Pilsner was good too.

Yelp
These guys have some authentic German Food, in a colorful historic part of New Orleans. It's rustic (aka a dive), with picnic tables galore. There's even a resident rooster, that hangs around, but don't worry. He's docile. The place is run by a real German who takes his brats seriously. At a recommendation, I tried the Black Forest beef brat. Wow! It was tender and had some real flavor. I went back for this fresh baked pretzel with dipping cheese. They make it in house, and it was piping hot when I got it. Laid back atmosphere, perfect for guys night out or a quick bite.

Yelp
Gross nasty potato salad, terrible service, and the bloody Mary tasted like Worcestershire sauce and pepper. If you come here, just know that you need to grab your own silverware that's not included with your tip. Also, the cold potato salad has some white watery undefinable sauce with unflavored slices of potato. A quarter of a potato in a serving only $5.70. I've eaten better at cheap lunch buffet. You guys need to do way better. Also since you have no instructions up on how the people are supposed to come to you to order their food. You need to tell your order takers to take people, who were there the longest first. I was standing at the wrong window and had to get behind two people that ordered a massive meal in front of me.

Yelp
We swung by for food after a little bit of exercise at Crescent Park. It's just a few steps away from the arched pedestrian bridge. Upon entering, you can see that it's very small inside. I would say it has a cozy dive bar atmosphere. A counter to order food and drinks, and a handful of tables for seating - that's it. However, they have TONS of outdoor seating. Under the open sky with picnic tables, and a warehouse-hangar type of building with tables in it too. Equipped with propane patio heaters, it wasn't too cold, even though it was in the 40s when we went! For the winter, I would recommend dressing warmly. In the summer, it might get hot and buggy, so be mindful of that! When we went, they had live music playing. It was nice to have that going on while we devoured our food! They're playing there for free, so don't forget to tip! The food and drinks here were PHENOMENAL. I didn't have any beers, but my boyfriend said the two he tried were some of the best lagers he's ever had! We ordered the fries ($5), which are a MUST if you swing by here. The portion is large, so it's more than enough to share with someone as an appetizer. The fries themselves were thick, yet crispy, but the showstoppers were the sauces. The had an apple curry ketchup and a spicy garlic mayo. OMFG guys... I could not stop eating!! The most ADDICTING sauces I've had in a while. I would buy the sauces by the tub to use at home. I even debated driving over for another order of fries the very next day. We also ordered the NOLA schnitzel sandwich ($13). It has a giant chicken breast (or pork) about 8 inches long, breaded and fried, served with a flavorful, saucy cole slaw. This enormous sandwich is a fantastic deal for $13. It's delicious and the portion is generous! As if all of that were not enough, we decided to gorge ourselves by ordering the Schnitzel Hunter Platter ($23) too. We got the pork, which was breaded and fried to perfection again, smothered in a savory mushroom gravy with a heaping pile of creamy mashed potatoes on the side. It also came with a small serving of sauerkraut. I kid you not, the pork was thick, juicy, and the piece was about the size of my face. The portion for this was HUGE! They do not skimp here at all. Even a big eater will go home stuffed!! Most people would have leftovers! We went home stuffed like it was Thanksgiving again! R.I.P. our New Year's resolutions to lose some weight. Can't wait to go back!! Update: We tried a dessert here. I probably won't order a dessert again. It was good, but nothing special, so I'd rather just fill up on the other food here! Haha

Yelp
"GOOD" I'll be back! Food: Melted cheddar cheese stuffed, applewood bacon wrapped, apricot chili slathered King Brat (See Pic) 'nuf said. PROTIP: eat this sausage immediately while hot. It's cut in two and dries out quickly. FYI: I know varieties of potato salad are totally subjective, but the cold version here has A LOT of dill.

Yelp
So happy to try this for the first time Covid out a damper on my dining experiences. Wow is the first word for me. The Spatzle with gravy was so earthy and wonderfully delicious. The Nola schnitzel had a great mix of Germany and the south. The little crawfish added greatly to the texture and taste profile for me. I ordered the Oktoberfest beer and it light and just enough hoppiness to bring a smile to my tastebuds. I order a smoke sausage at the counter just to start my palate and it was good, not the best jerky style bite, but worthwhile. Be sure to get some mustard and mayo on the side they have to the left it was a great add to the schnitzel sandwich. A funny personal not I did see 3 guys come into a beer and pork styled establishment and order dessert and white wine, the younger generation is in need of a style and palate revolution at least trim the beard somewhere. But to each their own. Sorry if that sounds mean. We live in wonderfully strange times. If you arrive here please try a taste of the world and culture they offer or why even come here. Go to a wine bar. Bratz Y'all you are my new favorite taste of the town. Thanks for a great Friday evening. They also have Live music Friday Sat I will add a picture with the times.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Not sure what to say here. Of course the German beer in steins were fantastic and atmosphere was actually really well done in the Biergarten. We heard live music which was a main reason we went. The pretzel was warm & salty, but We were disappointed in the beer cheese which was thin and flavorless. The Black Forest brat was not really special either. It could have used a mustard upgrade- something like a traditional horseradish mustard option (Lowensenf) The container offered tasted like a basic brown mustard. We lived in Germany for a bit, so perhaps our expectations were a little high. The apple strudel was a nice finish. Go for the drinks and outside atmosphere!
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Very good bar and music venue! The food was authentic, unique, and flavorful! The cashier took my order which was about $20 and the food was delivered hot to my seat pretty quickly. I ate all my food and I was absolutely stuffed and happy! I enjoyed every bite while I listened to fantastic live music. I didn't partake in any brats or beers but I definitely will next time I go, which I will go back again! A little out of the way for me but I was able to find close parking no problem. It seems like it would be a great place to host a party as well.

Yelp
Bratz is king. I've been going for years. Great variety in the menu. What they do best is beer, bread, and meat, but their veggie options are kind of amazing. Their veggie brat it's one of the best sausages I've tasted period. Their kitchen is very tight. The prep is good and I can't remember them getting an order wrong. For a place that serves stupidly delicious and messy food paired with huge mugs of beer, the establishment is very clean. They have two single-person bathrooms, only a few tables inside, but loads of seating outside. Eating outside at Bratz is always a treat because they have solid tables, lots of thriving plants, and occasionally, live music. Whenever a friend visits from out of town I want to take them here first so they can experience one of NOLA's greatest.
google avatar

Brenda C.

Yelp
I e been here twice while visiting and it is consistently fabulous! The food is fresh and served with a smile! The pretzel is a MUST and the mulled wine today was fabulous! Small and intimate with the best food!
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
Silly me. I've never stopped by Bratz because I figured as a non-meat eater there wouldn't be much for me to eat. Boy was I wrong! I went to a friends birthday here and it stopped raining just in time so we could all enjoy the beer garden atmosphere. I loved my sexy veggie brat in a pretzel bun. I'm not always happy with veggie sausage but this was really tasty. My friend enjoyed the variety of items they had plus all the beers. I stuck with non-alcohol but was looking at the sangria etc for next time. Super fun and low key plus a band!
google avatar

Paul B.

Yelp
I had the German hot dog with cold slaw, mustard and a German beer and it was excellent.

Yelp
Beautiful Saturday looking for outdoor dining. Great choice to end a day of eating. i wanted dessert and Nick wanted freshly baked Pretzel. That german chocolate cake was worth every bite.

Yelp
Love the German food here. Lived in Germany for four years and missed the food so much. This place gets it right. The whole family loves it.

Russ R.

Yelp
Amazing German food and Beer Garden! Love the ambience, food, and the Beers! It's the closest Authentic German place I've been to since being stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army!

Bernd B.

Yelp
Went there Wednesday, the sign outside said happy hour from 2:00 to 5:00 even though it did not open until 4:00. When we tried to order the happy hour items we were told they do not have happy hour because it was to hot this time of year. My uncle is a German that is from Berlin where I also grew up, he visits us every year. He was quite disappointed with the so called German food and the Advertisement on the gate that was false. He left a review about the dissatisfaction and the owner wrote back and called him an idiot and babbled on about someone telling him to not chase the rooster running around the place. Well no one even chased the rooster we were sitting at a table. I grew up I Berlin and I'm well aware of what the food should be. It's not up to par as far as German standards go. And accepting a little criticism to make an adjustment to correct the problems of over cooked Schnitzel and incorrect advertising and pricing should accepted and corrected not calling a true German an idiot.

Jeffry L.

Yelp
Quite informal waiting on line to order e.g. but food is good. Mostly outside dining large tables.
google avatar

Tarika S.

Yelp
Love this place and their customer service! Everyone is so nice and friendly. When we got there, my typical order is the cinnamon roll pretzel however they were not selling it at the time. The cashier worker made sure I found another dessert I can enjoy. I ended up getting the caramel cheesecake which just melts and your mouth! It isn't overly sweet or have a strong cheese taste; it was perfect. Our order was prepared quickly and everything is decently priced. 10/10 would come again!
google avatar

Dylan M.

Yelp
My idea of a German beer garden is not this which is more like a parking lot with tables. The staff is a bit rough and not friendly. They have a counter/widow that you would think you could use and remain outside rather than come inside during Covid but the person working refused to take an order there and said you need to come inside. Menus seemed to not be available so he would spew off a list fast and get annoyed if you asked questions or to repeat. The beer was good and they have nice glasses. But beyond that it's just a parking lot with tables.
google avatar

Barbara P.

Yelp
Food and atmosphere were delightful! Crispy little onions!!! Black Forest for dessert! So wonderful!
google avatar

Jordan L.

Yelp
I usually order food from here through one of the major food delivery apps and really enjoy it. Recently I was in the area and had the opportunity to try in person. First off they have a nice large outdoor space. Unfortunately it was raining and was forced to eat inside. The inside isn't as nice or large. It's kinda cramped and a little too warm for my taste. Now for the food. My typical online order is the bratwurst platter. It's expensive, but it's my favorite thing on the menu and gives you a sampling of German food with sausage, mash and gravy, and sauerkraut slaw. As good as the sausages are the potatoes and gravy are even better. Also, the platter is large enough to get two meals out of it, which kind of makes the price not so bad. For my in person meal I went with the giant German. That name does not lie. That is one honking huge brat. It was very filling, messy, and a good crunch on the bun. Definitely only order if you're really hungry. Overall good experience, but next time the in person meal will be had with nicer weather to enjoy the outdoor space.
google avatar

Tori M.

Yelp
This place is so cool. It's one of the only places in New Orleans that you can get German food! They have indoor seating but most of their seating is outdoor in the Biergarten. Who wouldn't love to drink a liter of Hefeweizen while munching on some Jägerschnitzel?! The Biergarten is dog friendly so bring dein Hund. It's a little pricey but honestly worth it for something different.
google avatar

Gina H.

Yelp
We never knew this was here on Piety Street!!! Well, a great hidden gem!! Ok so you cant keep me away from a good Bavarian pretzel!! OMG! Perfect texture! Beer cheese sauce. So we see on the counter "Mardi Gras king cake". The gentlemen said their baker (from Germany..so you know I need to go back to try her German chocolate cake & Black Forest cake) made their Pretzel with a Bavarian cream filling with icing and the colors of Mardi Gras of course! Had I tried it there, we would have bought them out!! Excellent!! We also got their veal & pork sausage to go which also had incredible flavor. We are so looking forward to our next visit!!
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
We've gotten to-go orders and ate at their booth at Voodoo Fest, but this was our first time eating there in person. I ordered the pork schnitzel which came with two versions of potato salad - one hot and one cold. The schnitzel was good and crunchy, my only wish is that came with a knife that could cut through the schnitzel better than a butter knife. The two potato salads were both very good. My SO ordered the Giant German which was insanely large! It was topped with sauerkraut, mustard, pickles, and caramelized onions. My only complaint is that we were sitting inside near where you order your food and someone was smoking what smelled like clove cigarettes. Not sure why that was allowed when they have such a large outdoor area. We'll continue to order from them as the food is always great, but we'll probably stick to delivery since it isn't very close.
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
Best place to hang in Nola BY FAR. I hesitate to post bc I want to be selfish, but it's true. The food and atmosphere is amazing!
google avatar

Russ V.

Yelp
The wife and I spent 5+ years in Bavaria as ex-pats. I'm a New Orleans native, and was positively tickled to find traditional German food in Bratz Y'all! I highly recommend the hunter schnitzel as well as the knödel and gravy, which I believe they call a dumpling. Oh and let's not forget the beer, the beer, oh my God the beer. Walk up the river in Crescent Park and cross the Rusty rainbow bridge to arrive at this wonderful beer garden. Dine in the bier garden, the bier hall, or take your food to go, and bring it back to the river for a wonderful gustatory experience.

Yelp
Service. Below standard. Husband got food, asked about mine 10-12 mins later and it had been sitting in kitchen prepared and not served. Had I not asked I would not have eaten. Luke warm Bratz, and cold unseasoned asparagus. Lady at register who I asked about food status was basically unapologetic So, too many restaurants in NOLA to settle. Beer and food, otherwise, tasty. Lost customer who comes with many friends. Will certainly take a break for a bit. They are plenty busy, so no change really expected. However, they we not busy when we arrived.

Yelp
I wanted something hearty, so I pulled out my phone, and a quick search for "mashed potatoes" brought me here. I'll be honest. I've seen this place online a few times and never paid much attention to it. The name always made me feel like it was more akin to Dat Dog than to German cuisine. Certainly my bad. If you've had the same thought, pretend you're Elsa and let it go, because this place is not Dat Dog-esque at all. It's got so much more to offer! Fast forward to gorging on a schnitzel sandwich (add the coleslaw to the sandwich - delish!), the Leberkaas (don't expect American meatloaf - it looks nothing like it, but it's also delish!), potato dumplings (I thought they were great, but my husband disliked the dark gravy - his loss!), brussels sprouts, red cabbage, and of course, a side of mashed potatoes. I am so glad my craving brought me here. I am looking forward to trying out even more on their menu. Give it a shot, there are a lot of tasty options bound to satisfy your belly, too!

Yelp
My bestie has been raving about Bratz Y'all for months, so I was excited to give it a try while waiting around for Krewe of Krampus. It did not disappoint. The interior was packed because of the parade so we were waiting a while, but it's a warm and cozy place to hide out. I got the veggie brat--the inclusion of which on the menu finally persuaded me to eat there--and it was excellent, better than my established favorite, Dat Dog. I love DD, don't get me wrong, but their buns tend to shrink under pressure while this one stood firm. The brat itself had a surprisingly realistic flavor and I'm left wondering what brand they use. The sauces are next level; the garlic mayo, the curried ketchup... I'd return just to acquire more of those and also to sample the huge fresh pretzels. My friend got an enviably delicious mulled wine with a name I may never remember, spaetzle, and apple strudel. All were things I would order again. Prices are a little high, but worth it for the quality.

Yelp
Very solid experience. Lots of authentic brats, meat on sticks, pretzels and more. Beer is strictly Bavarian as well.

Yelp
Friendly service. Cute courtyard and indoor/outdoor garage area with live music. Really good food. Loss of star? The prices! Jeez! $26-$29 for schnitzel and brat platters? Yikes! And the prices are wrong on their websites. Mixed drink, beer, Hunter Schnitzel platter, Brats platter, with tip...$85!!!! Never would've imagined.

Yelp
German food, a bit out of the way, in N'awlin's . Delicious & a very friendly atmosphere. Worth the ride.

Yelp
I loved this place! We came right after they opened and there were already a few other folks out on the patio eating. The cashier recommended a few different beers to my cousin and I, as neither of us are big beer fans but wanted to give one a try. She was super friendly and patiently explained the different flavors and types available. I ordered the NOLA schnitzel and it was amazing! It combined such a unique blend of flavors. My cousin ordered the "Sexy Veggie Brat" and said it was great as well. She had never tried a plant-based brat and was very happy with its flavor. And of course we ordered a pretzel for the table. Hands down the best pretzel I've ever had, and I'm a huge fan of soft pretzels. Not your typical NOLA fare but 100% worth the visit. Please continue to support small businesses!

Yelp
Stopped by here to get the King Cake pretzel that I had heard so much about. It's tucked back and I walked past it twice before I realized that this spot was indeed the spot. Went inside hoping to also pick up some dinner while I was there. They have some great German liquors and other beverages, and a smattering of types of brats. Nothing really piqued my interest other than a shot of Schladerer's Kirschwasser and the King Cake, so I just took my order and left, but the outside area was beautiful and if I had been so inclined I could probably drink out there all night and just enjoy the environs. Tried the pretzel the next day. That was probably my biggest mistake because by then, it was all chewy and not nearly as wonderful as I had been imagining. I'll definitely go back and give it another try, but for what it was that night, it was okay.

Yelp
Delicious food and great beer selection. Great atmosphere indoors and out. Kids enjoyed their hot dogs.

Yelp
Who knew? Who knew that one of the best memories of my trip to NOLA would be stumbling upon "Bratz Y'all!" where my family formed a consensus that this place serves the "best pretzel ever"? Who could predict that walking away from the French Quarter, through Marigny and into Bywater, we'd encounter a small but authentic German beer garden with picnic tables, heat lamps, and a window though which to order your beer and eats? Everything about "Bratz Y'all!" is an unexpected and throughly welcome surprise. It's immaculate. The servers and the owner (a Berlin ex-pat) are wonderful (don't you love it when they call you "love"? I do.), the food is excellent, and there's lots of good beer that they'll let you sample to help inform your decision. Here's what I tried and only because this was a between meals stop did I not sample more widely: * That perfect pretzel ($4) that arrives steamy. Its shell is crisp and its interior soft and it bears the ideal amount of salt. A cornucopia of authentic German accompaniments can be wrangled up from the inside dining room. * Ona's Potato Salad ($4), because they were out of the German Warm Potato Salad that day. Bursting with fresh flavors of dill and pickles, this is no supermarket potato salad. It's homemade, with love. * Crawfish-Remoulade Slaw ($4) fared a little less successfully. Neither bad nor particularly delicious, my opinion on this one leads me to say that I'm happier from the authentically German parts of the big menu (which is most of the menu). * Beer, served in a stein, just as you expect from a German beergarden. A longing look at those around me, engaged in the act of eating enticing looking brats and wursts, told me all I needed to know about the rest of the menu. Bywater is a cool place to explore on foot and you'd be missing a lot if you overlooked "Bratz Y'all!", so don't. Just don't.

Yelp
Phenomenal food, good drinks (though sold out of a few items on the drink list), reasonable prices, nice outdoor space. There was a musician coming in just as we were leaving. We would love to pop over when they have live music. Patio appears to be dog friendly. (We did not have our pup with us, but did see other dogs there.) A highlight of our short stay in New Orleans. We will be back next time.

Yelp
By far the best German food I have ever had. We ordered the jagerschnitzel ($19), bratwurst platter ($18), grapefruit beer ($6), kostritzer black lager ($4.90/0.5 liter during happy hour), and apfelstrudel ($7). The platters come with several sides. My thoughts: -the restaurant is somewhat hidden so it's hard to see unless you are looking for it -street parking available -typical table set up as you would see in Germany -order at the counter and then they deliver your food to your table -welcoming, enthusiastic employees -authentic, flavorful food. I recommend trying the schnitzels -pricy, but definitely worth it -all of our orders were accurate -you can sample the draft beers before trying them, which is great -highly recommend the grapefruit beer and dark lager -menu is organized and easy to read. They identify the sides that are included (you can customize the sides too) and list which sides are cold and which are hot -portions are large. I saved 1/2 my meal for later If I lived closer and could afford it, I would eat here regularly. I highly recommend checking it out.

Yelp
A little slice of Germany in the heart of old New Orleans. This little gem is located in the historic Marigyn neighborhood of New Orleans. The family-run restaurant is on a narrow street that has limited street parking. The neighborhood is undergoing some gentrification, and it has a cool vibe. Brats Y'all! is off the beaten path, but if you find it I guarantee you will enjoy it. Here are the highlights from my amazing Saturday lunch. The Nurnberger sandwich - The authentic sauerkraut, sausage, and the fresh baked pretzel bun were outstanding. Brussel Sprouts - Sliced in half and grilled to perfection with chopped pieces of bacon and onion. Grapefruit Wheat Beer - This unique beer is available on tap. Sweet and citrusy, I'm sure the name. Just ask for the grapefruit beer. Pretzel - The hand rolled pretzels are made to order. Served with a purple whipped cream spread that melted on the warm bread. Yummy. King Cake Pretzel - OMG, this seasonal offering was the most AMAZING king cake EVER! The fresh pretzel is sliced and filled with a vanilla-lemon cream filling. It is decorated with the traditional purple, green, and gold sprinkles, and a German baby is hidden inside. Outstanding German food and atmosphere in a throwback neighborhood. It doesn't get much better than this.

Yelp
Just got home from eating a deee-licious meal at Bratz Y'all. I got the Caper Schnitzel. It came with some yummy homemade caraway seed coleslaw, red cabbage with raisins and spaetzle noodles is a light gravy. I just finished fasting for 3 days, so I could not wait to eat my reward. I also ordered Nachtisch (dessert). I had the American German Chocolate Cake a la mode. Always never disappointed here.

Yelp
Must be my tenth visit and each time I've had fun . Live music on the Thursday night was enjoyable, beer ice cold and food delicious each time . True New Orleans experience, you want to feel the "big easy" this is a must . Patio so lade back , relaxing time from the hustle of a big city. Staff masked following all guidelines. Escape the tourist trappings of the quarter take a short ride to the true Orleans experience .

Yelp
BEST (German) sausage I've had! The juiciest meat, excellent sear/coating, and it was filled with cheesy goodness. Just sooo delicious. I personally wasn't a fan of the apricot sauce (not a fan of the sweetness with the saltiness of the sausage) so I could have just eaten it without any condiments!

Yelp
I highly recommend walking along the Mississippi River walkway from DT New Orleans to Bratz Y'all! Delicious beer, yummy brat sammies, and PUP approved! The only thing I can stay bad happened this day was when my boyfriend was upset I ordered us the HALF pints. (Lesson learned, always go FULL pints at Bratz) ;)
