Chicago Club Brauer House Lombard Flouts State Restrictions with Packed Indoor Concert | Eater Chicago

"I watched videos from the weekend showing a large, tightly packed crowd of unmasked patrons singing, dancing, and drinking at Brauer House Lombard, a suburban Chicago concert venue, restaurant and bar about 20 miles from Chicago that opened in 1999 in Hillside, relocated to Lombard after a 2008 fire, and has a standing capacity of 1,000. Known for hosting local musicians, the venue has been tracked by CBS 2 Chicago throughout the pandemic; its former owner Steve Brauer filed a lawsuit against Gov. J.B. Pritzker and health officials over indoor dining bans (a DuPage County judge denied his bid for a temporary restraining order), the bar closed temporarily on Oct. 30 under the state’s ban, and Brauer reportedly resigned in late January after posting a racist and anti‑Semitic message on Facebook amid a recent change in ownership. Despite organizers advertising the “Out Cold 2” concert (featuring Chicago house artists Gene Farris and Bad Boy Bill) on Facebook as “socially distant” with limited tickets and tables, mask requirements, and temperature checks at the door, geolocated Snapchat and other social media videos show more than 50 attendees mingling in close proximity without masks; social posts also show other apparent mitigation violations inside the venue on Feb. 13 and a large unmasked group at a September 2020 parking‑lot event, and the venue previously canceled a New Year’s Eve concert after reporters questioned possible violations." - Naomi Waxman

Chicago Restaurants Adapt to Illinois Ban on Indoor Dining | Eater Chicago

"I report that a bar, restaurant and music venue in suburban Lombard announced it will be closing for the time being after a DuPage County judge denied its temporary restraining order; ownership wrote on Facebook that 'It’s with a heavy heart we have to announce we will be closing for the time being' and said they 'fought the good fight and did all we could to stand up for the rights of small business owners.'" - Naomi Waxman

Went to a Friday night show of metal! Bands were amazing. We reserved a table in the venue, service in the venue was spot on. Our server never missed a beat checking on us, making sure we had everything we needed. Beers never ran out at our table. She made sure everyone was taken care of. Awesome job guys! Can't wait for future shows, since it's not that far from home. Check them out!🤘🤘🤘

Brauer House is a biker bar with great food (especially the jalapeno poppers, tater tots, and any burger with chips). The bartenders are usually pretty hot, plus they have a game room in the back with a pool table and at least 4-5 pinball tables. Vibes are edgy punk rock, which can be a good thing or bad thing depending on how you feel about that kind of stuff.

We love this place. We found out about it through our hearse club who hosts their big annual hearse show here every year. I love the psychobilly atmosphere and great food so much I insisted my husband take me there for lunch on my birthday. Where else can you have a zombie burger next to a Rat Fink painting, have great drinks, play an Elvira pin ball machine and attend an oddities show! It feels like home away from home.

This is a great bar for getting your music fix. Just recently I went to watch DIC (Dead In Chicago), great sound and very entertaining, original band. Tons of bands come here, they have recently expanded the facilities, now a multi-room footprint. They have all kinds of different gigs, from music performances, classics cars shows, motorcycle shows, food extravaganzas, all kinds of weird and taboo gatherings and great entertainment. Currently RockFight Battle Of The Bands is going on, sign up and get your groove on. If you want to be entertained come to the Brauer House, awesome food and drinks, great staff and wonderful entertainment.

Interesting venue. Eating area and bar with stage for music bands. If you walk to the back it opens up into a very large area with full bar no food a stage. I saw think Floyd here. Was awesome.

Went here for Fool's House concert but arrived earlier to eat dinner. It's a small and cramped dining area. It's first come first serve so you have to stand around and pretty much stalk people that look like they are almost done to get your table. The way they made it this way is uncomfortable for everyone except for the servers who don't help much. Aside from this, the service was decent and the food was good. The stage area is set up well with a 2nd level bar area but you have to reserve tables to get one. I would have given more stars but the way they handle first come first serve at a restaurant that have a very limited amount of seating isn't for everyone.

Live shows at the held at location of Bauer House continue under the new management. The place is now called the Humo Smokehouse. It is still a great way to see popular bands, while enjoying food and drinks with friends. One thing that has changed is a wider selection of food on the menu. I highly recommend the wings. I just saw an incredible line up of three bands at the venue stage. The group that I was with had an excellent time and we plan to return again. Another thing that changed if you pay to see a venue show and another show is going on other stage, you can only be in venue area. If you want to see the other area, then it's an additional cover charge to the other band on the other stage. A member of my group did pay the additional charge to see some of acts on the other stage and said it was worth it. The Humo Smokehouse has a Facebook page. It seems to be the place to find out all the details on what bands are playing at this venue. There are also open mic nights and other special events.
