Google
We had the most delightful, dissociative fugue-like visit to Bread & Butter, during which we bought basically everything. We were visiting town for a family trip, so we stocked the kitchen with bread for dinner and snacking, got some pantry goods, flowers, pastries, a breakfast sandwich, and more that I’m not naming. Everything was FANTASTIC. My sister-in-law had talked about the cheese and black pepper sourdough for two years (we are a food-loving family, thank you very much) — and even after that hype, it exceeded all expectations. So good. The “not quite white” also was incredible; such a good country-style loaf. All the pastries — ham & cheese croissant, mustard & gruyère scone, chocolate cherry cookie, salted chocolate chip cookie, cinnamon roll, and flourless brownie were each special individually and fully enjoyed by all. The breakfast sandwich was delicious. The flavor combo of the sweetness of the tomato jam, with the savory herb butter on the cheesy grits bread was so memorable. My only suggestion would be just a pinch or two more of salt — in the herb butter, or on the egg, maybe — as the tomato jam’s sweetness won out over the saltiness of the ham. And the Terra Flower Farm bouquet! We visited on 7/14, traveled a few hours, and on 7/23 (eight days later!) most of the flowers were still in tip-top shape. Would drive the 2.5 hrs from Columbia to Chattanooga just to come here.

Google
Every single visit to Bread & Butter is beyond exceptional. Their bread is, hands down, the best bread we’ve ever had! From their pastries and breakfast sandwiches to their drinks, everything is just phenomenal. I’ve never had a bad experience here. We’ve lived in the area for four years, and for the longest time, I would drive by and wonder what was inside. About six months ago, we finally decided to check it out, and now it’s become a weekly stop for us. I couldn’t recommend it more! If you haven’t been, you’re missing out!!! 😋

Google
The epitome of what locally owned means. Thoughtful, offering a very nice variety of locally and regionally made products along with their house made breakfast and brunch treats. My husband got the breakfast sandwich which was out-of-this-world and I got the ham and cheese croissant and I would absolutely do it again. It’s also a really special place to come and grab an after school treat with your kiddo. Love this place.

Bryan K.

Google
Great locally owned spot for delicious baked goods. Manager was very nice and the baker is actually there baking!unlike all the chain places! definitely recommend

Lisa M.

Google
There is nothing more delightful than a loaf of artisan bread that is crusty on the outside and feather light on the inside. It’s even better popped into the toaster and slathered with real butter. You will find the most divine artesian breads here such as Garlic with cloves of real garlic, cheese and pepper, cheese, and anything but white, to name a few. Of course it’s not a bakery without cinnamon rolls, sticky buns or double chocolate cookies. The croissants are huge, yet supremely flaky and light in texture. Everything is made by hand here. A loaf of bread and two croissants were a little over $19. Very good parking.

Google
We love bread and butter. We are locals in Chattanooga and grab a snack or a loaf of bread here weekly. The staff is always very kind and helpful. I highly recommend giving them a try!

Google
I absolutely LOVE this local bakery in Red Bank. All of their items are delicious from their daily baked bread options, to the Sticky Buns and Cinnamon Rolls, to their seasonal treats. The most recent trip there, I purchased their seasonal Key Lime Pie croissant - 100% to die for! It had the perfect touch of lime, right amount of filling and delicious touch of garam masala cookie. You can't go wrong with this bakery.

Abigail K A.

Google
My favorite local bakery but they are so much more! In addition to amazing staff, the food is without compare. Rotating seasonal baked goods, local produce, artisan and local cheeses, honey, jams and so much more! So glad to have this in my home town!

Yelp
Bread & Butter is a gem in Red Bank! Great pastries, bread, service, and ambiance! Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich & the pecan sticky bread. Soooo good!

T. T.

Yelp
With the size decreasing, but the cost increasing (a cranberry pecan loaf is now $10 + tax) my trips have dwindled to just every now and then. I get it, but it's sad. I live a block away and used to go every week...now it's on the luxury list :(

Yelp
We love this place! After driving by it for a year decided to give it a try. Wow! Great service, amazing breakfast sandwiches, and wonderful hot coffee. But wait, there's more! The shop has a nice selection of local vendors represented, from candles to honey to ceramic coffee mugs. Love supporting local businesses. We have already been back twice. Well done Bread and Butter! Highly recommend.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Chattanooga has the best artisanal bakeries! Bread and Butter's ww sourdough is like nothing I have ever tasted. We make special trips to Chattanooga to stock up.

Yelp
This bakery wasn't huge, but the selection of both loaves and pastries was intriguing. A few other local products dotted the shelves. They were not speedy and there was a line, but that did give me time to eye the various options. Their cookies were impressive, and I noted a little girl asking her mother for a garam masala cookie to some disagreement. I bought one and it was well-received; the more conventional chocolate and salted chocolate chip cookies were also delicious. Progressively better were my bear claw dusted with brown sugar and filled with an indescribable fruity mixture, and my cheesy grit loaf, which was every bit as savory as it sounds. The selection was definitely worth driving up from downtown.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch, cute place with nice selection. Know that they will NOT offer to heat up the quiche... I made the mistake of not requesting it warm. Quiche & croissant were just OK. Wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Anna B.

Yelp
This is my happy place. While the fermented breads are the foundation, the pastries are by no means an afterthought. All of the baked goods are beautifully executed. And the staff always brightens my day.

Yelp
Great little place located just outside of the Chattanooga metropolitan area in Red Banks. A little bit out the way, but worth it, as I was looking specifically for sour dough bread not made with enriched flour. Bread & Butter being one of the few places around that fit that criteria. Lots of goodies throughout the store which tempted me greatly. But I stuck to the plan to only purchase bread (except for the cookie - I HAD to have at least a cookie)! Got my loaves home and tried the Cranberry Walnut first thing. Soooo Delish -- Nutty, crunchy, sweet, crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Not Quite White (which is actually sourdough) equally good. Service was also acceptable. I would have provided 5 stars, but the prices are astronomical. Nevertheless, I will return as they have just what I need!

Yelp
Love Bread and Butter! Getting a fresh baguette from here can make any day better. I would dare say that they have the best chocolate chip cookies in the city. Their quiches and hand pies are always pleasantly amazing (even with potato in them!), their pre-made sandwiches are a quick and easy lunch/snack. I love the ham and cheese and the jalapeño one. Muffins, croissants, cinnamon rolls, oh my! I'm excited to try their pies for the holiday season. If you are looking for something super cheap, this isn't the place, but if you want something worth the price, stop on by!

Sarah W.

Yelp
Truly amazing cinnamon rolls! Fluffy, buttery roll with a tasty glaze and covered with luscious frosting. I try the cinnamon roll at every bakery I visit and Bread and Butter's is my favorite. Don't miss out on this exceptional bakery. They are more than worth the price.

Yelp
100% obsessed with this neighborhood bakery. You can get anything in the counter and your mind will be blown. They make fresh focaccia daily and it's always different but never disappoints! Almond coconut muffins are sleeper amazing. Bread Ans sandwiches to die for and of course all pastries are so good we make multiple trips weekly. 10/10.
google avatar

Michele L.

Yelp
Of course I'm local! This is my very favorite small bakery in town. Best ham sandwich in town! Best pecan sandies and f all time. Alfresco lunch, no inside seating but who needs it on such a gorgeous day!?

Yelp
Lol I don't know what to think of this place. Went in the morning to get a coffee and check out a new place. They have like 5 women coming out of the back so had a ton of people working here but had no bread, I didn't see any coffee or like egg sandwiches or anything. Feeling guilty I ordered their day old bread, it was 7.25!!!!!!! For a tiny garlic loaf that was a day old. Other than the terrible service, weird use of space and oddly not smelling good for a "fresh bread" (quotes cause I saw no proof of that) I really have no idea how they make money. By the way, I saw no butter also. Well, I did get a laugh at how weird and bad the place was, so that was worth the money. Knowing that wherever I go for breakfast again can't be this bad By the way, if your place opens at 7 AM, how about having a good work ethic and getting in early so that things are actually made when the shop opens, like, you know, any other place. I went in 45 minutes after it opened and they had no bread available even though that's their name .

Yelp
Do not stop by here on a Monday. They do not bake fresh. Everything we got here was stale. Drove here all the way from Atlanta Georgia as our first stop at Chattanooga. Tried quiche Lorraine and the a veggie one. Both are subpar. Scone is ok... not fresh... again. Same prices for stale items. Responding to the owner: the only breads that were available were challah and 9 grain wheat. We bought the wheat one and it was as stale as can be. For $8.50!!! That is ridiculous. We were told the bread lasts 2 days and were offered a refund. Not sure if it was processed. No transparency in selling two day old bread. Sorry... the scone did not taste fresh. Cookies were all sugar. Quiche was cold in the middle and had to be warmed up twice. Overall... a bad experience for a lot of $s. Maybe a bad day but a total disappointment considering we were so looking forward to this place during our two hour drive.

Yelp
I was waiting to go get a massage and stumbled upon the sweet little place. I had a salted chocolate chip cookie and it was amazing. They had a ton of cute local goods for sale as well. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Always wanted to stop in here when I'm in the Red Bank area, so I finally did it! It was near their closing time, but they still had some goodies left in the cookie jars! There is a sign on the door that asks for only 1 party at a time inside the store, so they are definitely taking COVID precautions. Since I was only looking for a sample, I chose two individual cookies to try. The salted chocolate chip cookie (it was large) was recommended and I also selected the pecan sandie - because I love a buttery shortbread cookie! Both were delicious but that chocolate chip cookie...{insert fireworks, music, and unicorns}. I also picked up a sampler baggie for my sons - it had one of each cookie in it, about 5 cookies total. Although I did not try any of the others - because they ate them within 5 minutes of bringing them home - my youngest thought the Garam Masala ginger snap was really interesting and it had a kick to it. This place is not far off US 27, Morrison Spring Rd exit, worth a try!

Yelp
They have the best breads. The cranberry pecan is delicious, The almost white makes wonderful toast. The multigrain is out of this world.
google avatar

Veronica M.

Yelp
Omg! What a delicious treat... I'm so happy my friend scooped me up and brought me here with her! This bread... delicious, I think I said that already. This little shop definitely has it going on! The French baguette is delicious! (It didn't eve last 30 minutes). They have coffee, hot chocolate, tea and other beverages. They have a coffee fixing stand but no tables inside to hangout. They do have two (2) tables outside but during the cold weather you definitely won't want to be outside. They offer dog treats and they have a fridge with different stuff. They also offer day old specials and let me tell you, they still taste fresh. I'm sad they are not in Nashville but I would definitely BOLO for my friend when she goes back to either go with or ask to bring me some goodies.
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
They have a few good items, most everyone working there has always been rude though and with that it's just not worth it for me. I would rather spend my money elsewhere, Neidlovs is much better!
google avatar

Sara L.

Yelp
When the first snow apocalypse caused a meeting delay this morning but only dusted the roads, I made a quick trip to Bread and Butter to try a new morning treat. I was not disappointed. The almond croissant I picked up was the biggest I've ever seen and fresh deliciousness! A cup of Velo coffee complimented it. I also picked up what's called a "latin pocket" to try for lunch. It's plantains, black beans, queso fresco, and rice cooked evenly inside rolled over artisan baked dough. Tasty. Go Red Bank!
google avatar

Alona S.

Yelp
Love this little place! Their bread is baked fresh daily! They have so many goodies there!
google avatar

Yelp
Fresh baked bread, muffins, cookies and local products. Coffee is brewed correctly and is always good. If I lived in Red Bank I'd visit more often. If you're looking for chit chat it's not the best place to go. They're a just the facts mam kind of place. It could be I just have bad jokes. Regardless, they'll slice your bread for you and you can save on the day old bread. I usually tear into the loaf on the way home. They also have whole quiche pies and other things to take home. Don't over look the muffins. Always a good selection.

Yelp
This is the third time I've been in. I usually buy from Velo in downtown Chatt because they carry their sandwiches and I live close. Now I am attending to a gym close by so Ive been a few times for lunch. I have to say their bread is absolutely phenomenal and their curry sandwich is off the charts-BUT I'm a customer service type gal and their service is just extremely awkward. This was my third time in and there's just so many awkward pauses and unanswered questions...The very first time I walked in w my bf and we asked to be directed to their sandwiches and all 3 gals behind the counter just looked at each other...had no idea...then I was like "your ham and jam I usually get from Velo...???" And they responded with "ohhhh yes they're in the fridge..." with a long quiet pause (the main cashier didn't even know they carried them...)....Then we asked for coffee and they just had this nervous laugh and looked at us weird LOL...the second time I came in there was one super knowledgeable girl who helped me get the cinnamon pastry which again was excellent but now this time I came in today & I asked-"do you have coffee..." cashier gal- "ummm, in the fridge I think..." (why is coffee in the fridge)...then the lady next to me kept asking to speak to Victoria (i think because she knew her and seemed to of wanted a discount...) so the cashier just smiled and kinda ignored the question as she tried to help me and the lady but the lady became agitated quickly and you could tell the cashier wasn't very good in social situations and so she just got nervous and ignored the lady who asked for V and just had a nervous laugh and tried to ring me up... but the weird awkward and silences that come from their workers is super loud if you know what I mean- I don't think the worker ever got Victoria it was just so weird with everyone standing waiting...I have to say that your food is pretty damn epic but the service is just odd. Anyway- only suggestion is to please have coffee during the day! Thanks!

Yelp
I adore this place. A few of my favorites: - the cinnamon rolls are to die for - the brand keeps their product stocks from and makes with local items from town. You can even buy some local artisan items in the store. - they have a reward program for their regulars. - everything you order is amazing and they have fresh bread daily as well! My only complaint is that the searing is minimal. I think the long term plan is to grow the seating - so they invisibly know! ;)

Yelp
The best croissant. It was buttery, flakey, big. I am still dreaming about it. Small store, but everything is made well. I look for croissants that are actually flaky and crisp on the outside, unlike the doughy grocery store ones. These are the real deal.
google avatar

Werner S.

Yelp
I have driven by this place many times and wondered what it would taste like to have one of their fresh bread warm with some fresh butter spread on it with a nice cup of coffee. So one morning on the way to meeting with clients I stopped by and grabbed a loaf, we sat around there kitchen table, each one with a freshly brewed cup of coffee, and it was wonderful! On my way back home I picked up another loaf to take home and share with my family in a similar way. Highly recommend it!
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
Love love love this place! From the moment you walk in and the smell hits you, an amazing selection of freshly baked breads and pastries! The staff were very nice and even recognized my wife from the first time she stopped by without me to check out what all they had to offer. They have certain items that are available select days through out the week so be sure to check them out online if you're looking for something particular. They also have an amazing selection of partnered local vendors for all sorts of kitchen goods and groceries! I now know where I'll be buying all my hoff sauce!

Wendy H.

Yelp
Had two cookies and it cost $5.50. They were good cookies, but super expensive. Way too high of a cost for me. The chocolate chip was soft in the middle and crunchy outside. The chocolate chips were a good amount- not too sweet. The oatmeal orange cookie was good but I didn't like how sweet it tasted. The Cho chips were too much with whatever other flavors they had. I am sure the baking is great here, but the price is way too much for me.
google avatar

Yelp
First I'd like to say that I don't leave reviews on businesses very often, but today was the they broke the camel's back. In the past we have been able to place orders online, that has stopped, so you have to take the chance that what you want will be available after driving 20 minutes to get there. We have tried to get their baguettes before, only to be told that they are not ready until after 11am. It was suggested to call before driving there to make sure the items we want would be available. We'll, we did that this morning and were told that the baguettes would be ready after 11. After driving there, we were told that the kitchen was running behind and my items would not be available until after 1pm. We had called 45 minutes prior to getting there, which was 11:15am. I'm sorry Bread and Butter, you have now disappointed me twice and have officially lost my business. There are too many options for bakeries in the area, that you can afford to anger your customers. Shame on you!

Scott L.

Yelp
It's good bakery. I had the cinnamon rolls and they were excellent. I didn't like being put in the spot to give the bakers a tip. Does this company not pay the bakers enough?
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
I'm halfway ashamed to say we got their black pepper and cheese bread and ate the whole thing when we got home. It was SO good. Seriously. Not a single thing there that's bad.
google avatar

Dylan G.

Yelp
Tasty baked goods but somewhat pricey for what you get. 1 Ham and Cheese Croissant, 1 "Cowboy Pocket" (basically a breakfast empanada), 1 cinnamon roll, and 1 cup of black coffee = $17. While it all tasted great, we probably can only afford to stop in as a special treat.

Kathy H.

Yelp
The Cheddar Jalapeño bread is heavenly! This store is a gem located in Red Bank. Give it a try. You will come back for more!

Kyle W.

Yelp
moisten bread upon smushed delicious butter. Reminiscent of my summers in Nantucket as a boy. How father would chortle at the servants failing the butter and bread smushing related chores!
google avatar

Leslie M.

Yelp
My favorite little pastry and bread place in red bank!! I love the cookies, muffins, quiches, fresh breads, take and bake cheese pizza kits, and their pastry pockets. My favorite is the breakfast pocket! If you are ever in Red Bank, stop by and check them out! No room to eat inside but they do have a couple of tables outside to sit at but mainly this is a order and take out place.
google avatar

Fay P.

Yelp
Croissants! Fresh, delicious, flaky, buttery croissants! Thank God for auto-correct spelling French words for me! This bakery is awesome! I've tried several different loaves here and never been disappointed. If you have a baker, or carb-conissuer on your shopping list, stop by here on Small Business Saturday. They have all sorts of local goodies and (unless I've been by) they'll probably have fresh croissants!
google avatar

Alyssa L.

Yelp
My brother brings me slices of pizza from here all the time and each time is as amazing as the last. Finally I went myself and it's just wonderful! Found some fig jelly I was super excited to put in my burger at home-!this place is fantastic!
google avatar

Angela S.

Yelp
So yummy! My family stopped here after eating lunch nearby hoping for something sweet. My daughter ended up with a double chocolate cherry cookie which she proclaimed to be, "the best thing ever." I had a chocolate croissant which was moist and buttery and had just the right amount of unsweetened chocolate in it to send my brain into happy dance mode. The person behind the counter was friendly and let us browse and answered all of our questions in the nicest way possible. She said their selection is different almost every day. I had stopped by on another day with a friend of mine and gotten a cinnamon roll which was the size of a Buick. We shared it and still couldn't finish it. I am really glad they have opened a shop like this on the north side of the river. I am more than willing to drive to Red Bank for baked goods of this quality.
google avatar

Be G.

Yelp
We found this place on Yelp, and ended up visiting twice on a 3 day trip to the 'noog. We tried their pockets, cookies, and quiches. All were outstanding, and the people are incredibly nice. If I lived anywhere nearby I'd weigh an extra 100 lbs.
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
OMG best. sourdough. ever. And we lived in LA when the La Brea Bakery was at the height of its powers! These guys have definitely got their fermentation down. The mother of mothers...get it?! I'll be back every time I visit Chattanooga, and maybe even have to drive up from the ATL just for the bread.

Emma H.

Yelp
The cinnamon rolls...... applause applause applause. Love going here for a little treat!

Katy J.

Yelp
Terrible service / young lady at the front working cashier was very rude !! Probably won't come back.
google avatar

Sabrina M.

Yelp
Love this bakery! They always have great, fresh, bakery! I love the pistachio croissant. Hint of chocolate satisfies my sweet tooth! The workers are always very kind and helpful. I will come back and try out some new items for sure!
google avatar

Minji P.

Yelp
Pistachio chocolate pastry was a hit with coffee. We packed some pastries before our outdoor trip and we were so happy in the mountains enjoying the treats and coffee.
google avatar

Paige B.

Yelp
Come here every week to get my bread for lunches! It is always so fresh and tasty! The bakery items are delicious as well. Love that they sell other local items from accompanying shops
google avatar

Sasha H.

Yelp
I'm writing this as I tear into the other half of my Sonrisa Farms Whole Wheat loaf I got at the Main St. Farmer's Market a few days ago, so excuse the bias. The delicious bias. Simply put, Alex and Victoria make the best bread in town. I'm a spoiled brat, I grew up to a fresh loaf of bread made every day by my grandmother and mother. 20+ years of this, and now, that I'm away from home, I can still get that same taste and feeling from B&B. They're going to serve as a great addition to the local food movement in Chattanooga, and we're lucky to have them. So, grab your keys, drive over and grab a few loaves, cookies, pastries, whatever. Clean them out. Indulge. Share with your family and friends, and break that bread ever more.
google avatar

Chastity D.

Yelp
I stopped by there this morning to finally give it a shot. I always see it on the way home from dropping my daughter at school, and today I decided was going to be the day I try the cinnamon rolls I keep hearing about. It was a great roll! It would've been even better warm.
google avatar

Heather H.

Yelp
The bread is so fresh and soft, you could use it as a pillow. (I am not exaggerating.) However, I gave it a three-star rating because the lasagna wasn't disappointing, per se, it was just lacking sauce. It was delicious and I could taste every element, but there was no unifying element. It was sauceless--a little disappointing. But the garlic bread that came with the lasagne was PERFECT. It tasted as though I was biting into a piece of buttery garlic (and being a former resident of San Jose, which neighbors Gilroy, I 100% approve). (3.5 / 5)

Julie T.

Yelp
I always make a point to stop by when I'm in Red Bank and get a mustard and gruyere scone. Last time I was there, they were burnt, yet still put out. I ended up getting something else and it was good, but I was disappointed. Try a pre-made Ham & Jam sandwich from the refrigerator--delicious!
