I went to try Bread and Sons for lunch today for the first time. I wanted to try it based on all the great reviews. I ordered the gouda sandwich which was supposed to be "life changing". The gouda wasn't melted at all after asking for it to be grilled and there was no arugula on it which was detailed in the description. Instead they used romaine lettuce. Kinda disappointed. The many capers mixed with olive compote is quite overpowering and the focaccia bread is so hard! No idea why this sandwich gets such a great review. I found it expensive at $10.62 plus tax. I tried the butter croissant as well to see if it was as good as people say. It was very nice to be fair. 👍🏼 Edit: just to say thanks a lot to the owner for the refund. I will go in hopefully soon to try something else. I truly appreciate the contact from the owner and the effort to fix the issues. I have upped the service to a 5 star as client service is really good :). update will follow Add: I did go back and got the breakfast sandwich and the feta boreka. The boreka was super crunchy and the sesame crusted top was delicious. It was a bit salty, but that's because it's filled with feta cheese. Really nice! The breakfast croissant is unbelievable. I want to get this again actually. Two poached eggs on a croissant with cheese and warmed up. Mmmmm. The eggs were still a bit soft which was really nice. The cheese was lovely as well. Really had a European feel to it. Yum! I want to try all the croissants now. 😋

Gouda sandwich , 2 slices of pizza and chocolate macadamia cookies. The pizza was ok. The sandwich was amazing. The cookies also tasty. An expensive place but good for treating yourself. Definitely the sandwiches are their best in my opinion. Will go back.

Google
Adorable bakery with unique pastries. Coffee was quick and delicious. I had the pistachio croissant - maybe too sweet for me but they are very generous with the toppings. 💚🥐

Google
Absolute best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had. I love this bakery so much and when visiting Ottawa it’s my first stop! The pastries are amazing and the pizza slices delicious. I also find it really good value for the quality you are getting. Big fan!!

Google
One of those 'I want to try everything because everything looks great' spots that actually lives up to how good the food looks. I spent a good 5 minutes trying to find this place as there's no signs outside, but boy am I happy I found it. Pizza with the roasted garlic and onion is sublime. Both cookies are to die for, and the FETA thing (not pictured) was my favorite of the bunch. Loved everything there.

Google
I love this cozy cute coffee shop! The coffee always tastes great, it's quick, and they have non-dairy milk options. As for food, there are different kinds of pizza, sandwiches, pastries such as croissants, cookies, chocolate babkas, and more. I do wish they had more vegan options when it came to the food. If I remember correctly, I did get some sort of tofu sandwich before and it was delicious, but they don't always have it. I visited the other day and couldn't get anything vegan to eat, unfortunately. There is limited seating and it isn't the most comfortable wooden cafe seats, but the atmosphere is warm and inviting, with dozens of books stacked along a shelf and lots of artwork on the walls.

Lovely bakery with a nice selection of pizza slices and sandwiches. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.

Yelp
HIDDEN GEM. This spot has been a staple on Bank since 2005. And now I know why. Everything was delicious. From the sandwiches to the pizza to the amazing treats. My mouth is watering just thinking about all the goodness. This is a must try. Favorites from here was the pizza and the sandwiches.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Local ingredients and many sweet or savoury options. Busy during lunch rush for their pizzas.

Yelp
SUCH A HIDDEN GEM. I legit manipulated my work schedule this upcoming month just so I can have the chance to come here. The bread here is just amazing. That's not even it lol. The sandwiches are the BOMB.COM!! I had the gouda it's probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had period lol. I need to come back. The people are nice and the service is great. I wish I had the time to enjoy the hole-in-the-wall ambiance they have. Bless your taste buds by coming here.

Yelp
A great spot for lunch on Bank St! They offer sandwiches, pizza, paninis, cookies and other baked goods. I got the Gouda sandwich - tastes amazing grilled! The focaccia bread is crunchy and the ingredients go so well together. Arugula, peppers, capers, roasted onions, potatoes, dill ranch and Gouda. Very filling for $12!

Yelp
I don't seek out vegetarian food, but it's nice to know that such a good option exists here in Ottawa. The tempeh sandwich was packed full of flavour, with a nice crusty bread. If you want pizzas, make sure you show up a bit later in the morning (11am is safe, though when I went on the weekend some pizzas were already out so maybe 10:45am?). I've had the mushroom/green onion/potato pizza multiple times now and it's an interesting, surprisingly good option. If potatoes on pizza is not for you, they usually have 4-5 available.

Yelp
We were attracted by the scent of their fresh oven baked pastries just cooling off on the shelves and we had to go in to take a peak. We noticed a lot of people inside self serving and picking out the pastries they wanted into their boxes. We picked out a few pastries and cheese buns and took it to go ...boy was it freshly baked and warm. I had a few already and I don't regret it. Service : super pleasant and helpful very nice staff and they seemed to care a lot ! They explained to us which ones were popular and the different kinds of pastries ( some were savoury and some were more sweet) Ambiance: it was fun and the smell definitely wooed us in .... lots of great varieties. Overall, definitely recommend this little bakery as its a cute hidden gem and if you're in the area and you're looking for a quick bite of delight I totally recommend you trying this place out so delicious

Yelp
This olive pizza from Bread & Sons really hit the spot! It was perfect for a quick bite to eat on the go on Bank street !

Yelp
I was looking for a vegan baked item to munch on for the morning and saw this bakery had some vegan options. For baked goods, they had a vegan pumpkin muffin ($2.78 after tax), so I went for one of those. Very tasty, soft / creamy texture, with lots of pumpkin spices and pumpkin seeds on top. Pretty tasty. It looks like they offer a vegan tempeh sandwich that I'd be up for trying next time. Good spot.

Yelp
Got their Gruyère sandwich and it was mouthwatering! Loaded with Gruyère cheese, potato, black olives and some other stuff I can't exactly put my finger on but every bite was an absolute trip Also tried the chocolate banana muffin and was surprised how light and fluffy it was! I will DEFINITELY be back :)

Yelp
Amazing Pizza, the hazelnut espresso Croissant is absolutely fantastic, as well as the Feta Bourek. Outstanding hands made pastures in a very unassuming settings. Best Bakery in Ottawa.

Yelp
I live fairly close to Bread & Sons - but because I work the traditional 9-5 on the other side of the city I never got a chance to try this place until today! They have "bank hours" and are closed on weekends. Pun intended. They sell the pizza slices at Herbs & Spices (also on Bank) but I like my pizza FRESH. When I went in today I looked at the slices and thought they looked like they were sitting around for awhile but I wanted to try it anyways. I'm so glad I did. The veggie slice I tried was absolutely delicious! Thin crust with the perfect proportion of sauce and cheese and a bit of spice. If you're the type that likes to taste the sauce on your pizza - you will like these. I'm not really a fan of Gabriel's because I find that it has too much cheese. What could make it better? I would love to try a handmade dip to go with the slice. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient - perfect for a quick lunch for those who work in the area. I'm looking forward to trying more items off the menu - especially when I'm feeling carb-ey. Maybe some pastries?

Yelp
I couldn't avoid it any longer! I just had to have one of their famous pizza slices! I always see them walking by, and everyone always stops to see what's on the menu. There were a lot of people in the bakery, all picking up a late lunch, snack, or dessert. The pizza slices are all very large and thin crust, and made fresh daily. They had a lot of different kinds - about 7 or more vegetarian options. Many of the ingredients were gourmet, including portabello mushrooms, kale, roasted onions and red peppers, and Gouda and ricotta cheeses. I couldn't make up my mind, and after about five or so minutes of staring at the pizzas, I grabbed myself a slice with Gouda and ricotta. It had a lot of oregano sprinkled all over and was incredibly tasty. One of the best cheese pizzas I've ever had! I can usually eat a lot of slices of thin crust pizza, but I could barely finish the slice, and it's still currently sitting on the table, calling my name.. but I'm soooo full! I also grabbed a Choco-Hazelnut Spelt cookie and a small glass bottle of black currant juice, both delicious as well. My total came to about $7.50 and I was completely satisfied. The service was also fast and very friendly. I will absolutely be back to try some more goodies!

Yelp
I really wanted to enjoy this bakery! My friend loves coming to this place during her lunch hour and advised me to visit before I left the city. I'm hoping I came on an off day because the pizza was not good at all. I opted for plain cheese and it was a thin crust which I usually like, but the cheese was dripping with oil and was overall a very soggy slice. Not recommended. I also purchased a butter tart and black bean roll since they looked nice. The butter tart was a tad disappointing since I generally like gooey centres, but the crust was good. The black bean roll was also equally as nice. Overall, the butter tart and black bean roll saved this review from being any lower.

Yelp
Absolutely Delish! I wandered in here today with a last afternoon snack craving, given that I had skipped lunch ( the visit to the us embassy left me drained and I slept off the moment I got back to the hotel!). I spied some yummy looking bakery goods and a rack of pizza pies sitting to be devoured by the slice! The super friendly girl at the counter informed me that all their pies were veggie and some vegan/ gluten free options too - none of the pies had any names unfortunately! I settled for the one with sundried tomatoes and roasted garlic. The thin crust slice was super yummy and I ate it up super fast .. Lol! I almost wanted another slice, but I settled for the bite size brownie slice instead and it was a good choice! The brownie was decadent, just the right size and absolutely yum yum! The vibe of the place is very hipster, but warm and friendly! Loved the cork board with pictures of chefs and other random stuff! If I am here longer ( weird look towards the US embassy), I will definitely be back! :):)

Yelp
Cute local coffee shop, warm freshly baked goodies, the muffins are really soft and taste better than most big name franchise shops.

Yelp
Favorite food stop in Ottawa by far. Went here several times during our trip. The pain au chocolat was perfect - flaky and buttery and chocolatey. So many breakfast pastry options - I liked that there were savory choices. EVERYTHING we tried was top notch. Chocolate chip cookies had a hint of orange in the dough - yum! The latte and espresso were amazing & we enjoyed the drip coffee, too! And on top of all the delicious stuff - the staff were super friendly and the ingredients are locally sourced. Honestly, I fell in love with Bread & Sons. Wish Ottawa wasn't an 8 hour drive away!
google avatar

Gladys C.

Yelp
Amazing cookies. I got the chocolate one for a friend and had the white chocolate macadamia cookie. Oh my god. The flavours were so good and the cookie was so moist. I can see why this place is so busy in the mornings! Would love to try their tarts next!
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy baked goods, great for bread and pastries. Stopped in for breakfast, got a great latte, a perfect pastry and interesting surroundings. Staff were great, and they treat their regulars kindly. Will I return: yes! Will I recommend: yes, already have

Yelp
Wow! Best vegan muffins (pumpkin seeds) ever. The place is a bit small, but staff is very nice. Today there was no vegan muffin and I went for the ginger coconut date muffin (not vegan) as suggested by the nice girl at the cash. It was sooooo good. I just love this place. I wish they would open a spot in Montreal since I have to move back (let's say I would rather stay and enjoy the great spots in Ottawa like this one).

Yelp
I like this bakery a lot. The owner is very kind, the people work there are all very nice. I only had their pizza slices and they're my favourite in Ottawa. The dough is very yummy and well baked. They also have vegan slices for vegans too. I definitely recommend this place Update: I've tried chocolate crossiants, cinnamon rolls and cookies! The crossiants and cinnamon rolls are very tasty but very small. Not a regular crossiants sizes. :/
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
I love this place. I cannot say enough good things about the quality of food that is produced here. Its made with real, honest ingredients and the taste reflects it. Emphasis on local ingredients. I have been trying hard to replicate their butter tarts. When I told the cashier, she just laughed at me.
google avatar

Yelp
Great to have an all organic cafe in the city! We had pizzas and a macchiato. It all tasted really good!!! The coffee is from Vancouver's Parallel 49 roasters. Delish!!!! The interior is very rustic and organic looking. Casual and relaxing with retro chairs. We felt comfy and cozy there. I'd definitely go back next time when I'm back in town...
google avatar

Yelp
Locally sourced ingredients plus hipster sensibility and seriously splendid baking abilities = goodie heaven. Try: Cinnamon rolls The perfect cookie Chocococoa Goat cheese onion tart Quiche More cinnamon rolls

Yelp
Quaint bakery with a small selection of freshly made pizza and pastries. I came in here looking for the infamous Canadian butter tart that I'd heard so much about. However the bakery no longer makes this item. Instead I left with two slices of gourmet pizza and cookies. The staff were super nice, helping me to heat up my food. The cookies were huge, soft, and chewy. Highly recommend this place for a quick lunch pop in. Be aware of your surrounding as you make your way over. I walked past the store twice before realizing I had missed the entrance. The storefront is not very eye catching, but is definitely a hidden gem.

Yelp
Great sandwiches, pizza slices & everything else. Prices r creeping up as they cash in on their popularity. I've limited myself to once a week but I do enjoy their food. But their prices r starting to bug me. 8-9$ for a simple sandwich where 5-7$ would b more inline. Such is life with successful establishments.
google avatar

Elaine S.

Yelp
The location was close to the place I am staying at. When we got inside, there were only a few muffins left and croissants. We were extremely disappointed because we thought we'd be able to grab a slice of pizza but they don't sell pizza on sundays. My boyfriend ended up getting a pumpkin muffin which he thought was okay.
google avatar

Yelp
I dropped in this past weekend for an early bite to eat for lunch, and was just in time for a fresh vegan pizza being put out. Really decent covering of toppings, and a great mix of flavours, with roasted peppers, caramelised onions, olives & mushrooms in the mix, with some spinach for greens. I noted they had a couple of vegan options in their cooler too - one salad and one sandwich. While the vegan options amongst the baked goods aren't huge, what they do have is a good offering - one or two muffin types, some cookies & banana bread. I got some brunch cookies to take with me and it was a great kickstart to my morning the next day. Prices were pretty reasonable too - I got a slice, a drink & my couple of big cookies for just shy of $10. So, the products and flavours were great. The only things holding me back from giving it a 4th star are: that there's not a lot of space in there if there are a few people browsing, vegan labeling needs to stand out more, and it's a pity they aren't open more. (Although as a small business I understand it.) I would definitely go back for a quick lunch when i'm in Ottawa next.

Yelp
Love, no...LOVE this bakery. Small but interesting selection of treats and cookies (I highly recommend their Ginger Cookies). The pizza slices and sandwiches are really good and full of flavour. They can seem a little pricey but for what you get you won't mind. The hours are a bit of a drag but I get down when I can (harder now that I don't live downtown *sigh*).
google avatar

Chandler C.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Great variety of pizzas and baked goods at ridiculously low prices. The quality is phenomenal. I easily would have paid three times as much for everything. We had two slices of pizza and an espresso chocolate chip walnut cookie and milk for less than $10. The cookie was heavenly. Both slices of pizza were great and filling, but I don't remember the toppings. The offerings are cranked out fresh as everything gets snatched up immediately, so it's a great place for the adventurous eater who is excited to grab whatever is fresh. This may be my favorite place in Ottawa!

Yelp
This is a great little shop with lots of wonderful vegetarian and vegan options. I work nearby and it's great to stop in for a quick and tasty bite. During the lunch rush, they have about 8 or so different kinds of pizza. At least 2 were vegan- no cheese. The crust was delicious..amazing homemade style sauce and lots of veggies! Warning: It is served cold. There is a window full of breads..sourdough, French bread, multigrains, rye and then tons of baked goods. The smokey tempeh sandwich is great. The only problem I have is the service. I had called ahead to put a sandwich aside. (The staff recommended that I do that as they often sell out.) When I went to pick it up, it was gone. They sold it. No lunch for me and all I got was sorry... Another time, I ordered a Vegan pizza for pick up after work. I asked for a Vegan pizza and went over the toppings with the staff. When I went to pick it up, it had cheese on it. The staff said that the other staff did not write vegan and then the staff member told me that I have to make sure I say "Vegan"!!! Wow! I told her I said the word vegan at least 3 times during the order. The staff said there was nothing she could do as the pizza chef was gone. No dinner for me. So overall good food but bad/rude service. Very disappointing.
google avatar

Yelp
My first visit to this little place - it has a very local, trendy, delicious vibe to it. I already had lunch so I went in to feed my sweet tooth with a homemade treat. I gasped aloud when I saw them...the butter tart - I'm a huge sucker for a butter tart - but a home made one to boot - I had to try. I first noticed that the crust was not a traditional butter pastry but more of a puff pastry, it was delicious but the amount of pastry overpowered the lovely filling, I think if BSB can make the filling the star of the show they would have a buttertart riot on their hands. I can tell you that everything on the shelves looked and smelled incredible - and I can't wait to stop by for a piece of amazing looking pizza.

Yelp
maybe I was just really hungry but I had the most amazing lunch here. super fresh pizza, amazingly delight vegan cookie all for under 10$ I'll be back, probably in 5 mins haha

Yelp
Bread & Sons is a lovely, little bakery on Bank Street. You can take out, you can stay in (only four seats though, counted 'em) and enjoy amazing goodies. The fare ranges from bread (duh), bready products like pizza and desserts, to fancy coffee. Most recent and delicious of my experiences was the pizza! Bread & Sons has dough/crust down like no other in Ottawa. It's got a crispy edge while still having a doughy bite to it. My friend and I ordered a sweet potato, roasted red pepper and caramelized onion pizza. The sweet potato chunks were killer- very soft and flavourful, as were the other toppings. A sprinkle of rosemary leaves on top tied the whole thing together. They make pizza feel healthy even though it isn't. Service is always friendly and when we ordered the pizza to stay, the cashier happily put it in the oven for us, cut it into slice and put it on the biggest plate she could find. It could have used some more time in the oven, but nevertheless, delicious. Jugs of water are out there for you to self serve but FYI it's another one of those small cup-warm water deals. They carry fancy juices too. PS: I asked around and funnily enough, the owner has no sons! You have to think of it as though all the other things that they sell (mostly bread-y products) are the children of the bread. Get it? Good. Go.

Yelp
ARGH. I was so stoked to try this pizza, as I am stoked to try virtually any pizza, but life is unfair and I ended up here on a Sunday, where I promptly learned they do NOT serve pizza on Sundays. When I recovered from this devastating blow, I was informed that my savoury options were amongst 3 kinds of cheese paninis ($8). "That'll do, pig," I thought to myself, and ordered the potato and caperberry. I watched them make the sandwich on their little panini press. It was reeeeally tasty, but on the pricy side for a small grilled cheese. I expected it to be much bigger. It came with a dentist's cup of purple slaw and a small pickle - maybe a generous serving of sides would have softened the blow. Delicious, though. BUT PIZZA! I have to come back to Ottawa on a weekday.

Yelp
Awesome place for lunch in the downtown core! It's so hard to find lunch options that are healthy, vegetarian, or vegan around my office, so I was happy to discover this little place. They have at least 7 vegan lunch options every day (3 salads, 2 sandwhiches, soup, and pizza), but they are bought up fast so for maximum options you should get there early. All of the other sandwhiches they have are made with delicious gourmet cheeses... they usually have 3 or 4 varieties per day of these as well. And the non vegan pizzas are made with lovely combinations of vegetables and cheeses as well! In the evenings they make mini pizzas too! A perfect quick dinner for two to pick up on the way home. You can also always order from them at least 24 hrs in advance. But the food doesn't just stop at lunch stuff -- they also have cookies, of which 3 types are vegan including a chocolate one, 3 or 4 different types of croissants, (not vegan, but AMAZING.) muffins (of which one is vegan.. pumpkin spice.. my fav!) scones, mini quiches, feta puff pastries, and more that I can't think of right now.. but they're all delicious and made fresh every day. That is my favourite part about this bakery. Everything fresh and home made. Nothing processed, and nothing un-natural. They also have a variety of breads. None gluten-free, but they have a wheat-free spelt bread, a multigrain bread, a sourdough, and challah on fridays which I love! Visit this place for sure if you're in the area! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
This is bar none my favourite food establishment in Ottawa, and I don't take that statement lightly. In a city that can be a bit of a desert for good food, Bread & Sons is like a beautiful reasonably-priced oasis. I have never been disappointed by anything from Bread & Sons, although the pizza is the main attraction. The slices are pure heaven, with a delicious crust and a perfect mix of ingredients and herbs that make every bite a flavor bomb unmatched by any other pizza I have had in the city (and most other cities for that matter). I don't even bother asking them to warm them up for me as they are just as good cold or lukewarm. Their bread, baked goods and sandwiches are also great. The sandwiches may seem a little expensive, but ask yourself where else in Ottawa you can buy a freshly made sandwich using local and/or organic ingredients on home-made bread that tastes as good for less money. You can't. Take a look at Bowich just down the street for an example. I have not tried all of their made-to-order pizza options, but I did try the My Italian Grandma (garlic, potatoes, rosemary, mozzarella) and it was great. A bit heavy due to all of the potatoes but there were roasted and spiced perfectly so that they didn't ruin the flavour of the pizza. The coffee from 49th parallel is also really good, although it can be really, really strong on caffeine depending on the day so be warned. I have had nothing but good experiences here. The servers may not be as super-perky and over-friendly as baristas at Starbucks, but I have found them all very personable and down-to-earth. And really, who cares anyway when the food is this good?

Yelp
Come here for the thin crust pizza. For under $4 you can get a slice of roasted red pepper and jalapeno, ricotta or kale and assorted veggies. Oh yum! An entire pie is only $20 but you need to call ahead a day in advance to place your order. Their coffee has been getting good press recently: http://tinyurl.com/6ow4oq2. Check it out!

Yelp
Bread & Sons Bakery - Home to my absolute most favourite chocolate chip cookie in the world. THE PERFECT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE - this is one sup'ed up chocolate chip cookie. It has a slight crunch on the outside, yet it is still soft. Instead of chocolate chips, it actually has chocolate DISCS (I believe the brand is Callebaut chocolate). What distinguishes this cookie from others are the little pieces of candied orange zest, what a delight! I also like their breakfast raspberry muffin, black bean rolls, their loaf bread is amazing!! Everything is amazing. Prices are a bit higher than the usual bakery (hence minus one star), but everything is top quality. The buttery, sugar, chocolate, carb goodness makes this a very dangerous place for downtown workers.

Yelp
Awesome pizza (try the margharita), delicious butter tarts. Pros: - Pizza is SO GOOD - Pizza is so fresh - Inexpensive - Bakery items are great (the butter tarts in particular are wonderful) Cons: - It's busy at lunch - No real seating

Yelp
Popped in here based both on a variety of recommendations and the Tom Waits song name theme in the pizza menu. My vegetarian experiences in Canada up until arriving in Ottawa had been mixed at best, but Bread and Sons thankfully set a new standard. We arrived after a long hot day of tramping around, but one slice each proved filling enough. The taste, however, forced me to have a second. My first slice was a Big Time, which proved crispy yet juicy. My second was was an unnamed kale and red pepper pizza, of which I was dubious given kale's texture, but once again it proved marvelous. B&S seem to use some kind of seasoning shake on their pizzas that adds an extra kick to the cheese. The setting is extremely casual, with seating for a handful at best. The ovens etc are visible from the counter and they serve to leave the room fairly warm. The map of their suppliers is a nice touch, as well as being reassuringly local. As a fan of thicker crust pizza, I must say Bread and Sons converted me. The pizza was easily the best I've had, veggie or otherwise.

Yelp
So I stopped in to grab a slab of za (got the sweet potato, jalapeno, red onion so yummy), and when I'm at the cash, this random dude says "hey, do you like baklava?" and I say "I do, but am very picky" (surprise surprise). He then replies, "this baklava is so amazing it's like...." and he proceeds to sing in an angelic voice. Well, I had to try it. O.M.G I took a bite and starting singing (inside my mind). Run don't walk to try this $5 treat that is worth every penny and calorie!

It is one of the best bakeries in town. Excellent croissants and bread. Surprisingly wide selection of baked goods. Highly recommend.

Yelp
My gosh, this place is amazing. The croissants are TO DIE FOR - seriously, I get croissants everywhere, and Bread & Sons makes some of the best I've had in my life. The pizza is also delicious! My only complaints are that the pizza is out on racks for everyone to grab their own slice, which doesn't seem very hygienic (I've seen people use their hands to pull slices apart even though there are tongs) and in addition, it gets cold. They do offer to heat it up, but the cold pizza on the rack looks a little dried out. It does revive wonderfully when they head it up for you, though. Also, all of the pizzas when I've visited were vegetarian. For 5/5 stars I wish they would keep the pizzas behind the counter and have at least one meat option. The pizza is thin-crust and seems really healthy/artisan (for pizza), yum!

Yelp
I always wondered where this place was but then stumbled upon it while walking down Bank St. I saw the had thin crust pizza and when I say thin crust pizza I'm talking thin crust that you'd find in Italy and even the batch of gourmet pizza places in Toronto...think Libretto and Piola. They make pizza to order but they also sell them by the slices. I chose a kale slice and had it reheated to go. The pizza is alright even if it's treated like utility pizza. I think some of the things I really miss about some of the other thin slice places is that slightly smoky taste you get from their ovens. I don't think I tasted much of that on this pizza. The ingredients, though fresh, were kind of bland. I might try another slice from here another day and even pick up a baguette to get a better experience of the place. The people working are extremely friendly and the place has 2 tables outside for outdoor seating and 1 or 2 tables inside.

Yelp
Nice place with friendly staffs. The bread, cookies and rolls are all freshly baked. The carrot cake was not too sweet, really love it~ The price is reasonable. And the bakery also served pizza at lunch time~ So good. The location is near the parliament building, highly recommend to go visit after having a muffin and a cup of coffee.

Yelp
This is your classic quality over quantity. Baked good we had werr very good but not life altering. I must admit the chocolate chip cookie did not live up to its title, i have had better. I am a purist though. Vegan cookie was awesome. As for price, you get what you pay for but i still find it a little too steep

Yelp
I used to work two blocks from Bread and Sons. It wasn't pretty. I was in the habit of reserving a challah every Friday and my coworkers, driven mad by the smell of freshly baked bread coming from my bag, got in on the ritual by buying a Friday treat. Favourites included the currant cream scone and chocolate croissants. Wait. An organic, veg*n bakery? For challah? That's right, the owner of Bread and Sons, a former Israeli physicist, makes the best challah in town. I'm not ashamed to admit it, though I'm a little scared to let the old ladies at my synagogue hear it. It's sold so hot from the oven that it almost disintegrates and you have to reserve a loaf (or two if you want to be traditional) by noon or risk missing out until next week. I also used to regularly enjoy the cookies and muffins a little too often, and recommend the thin-crust pizza and innovative sandwiches (tempeh with chipotle and tahini, for example) for a quick lunch. The line-up often stretches out the door, but tends to go quick. Just keep in mind that nothing is mass-produced, so arrive early in the day.

Yelp
They sell my preferred brand of Canadian roasted coffee here!!! (well, tied for 1st). 49th Parallel has some pretty good offerings. The thin crust pizza here is great, and usually there are over FIVE options, and that's when the place has been picked over (sometimes 8 or more pies to grab a slice from). They also make good lattes/cappuccinos here. Only downside is they close down the machine around 3, or by 4. It's too bad since after work I sometimes get a snack here and can use a SOLID cappuccino. Then again, it is a bakery. And yes it is that much better than other chain coffee shops that I will walk to Bread N Sons. disclaimer: I have not tried there drip, or their bread.
