I want to start this review by saying that there are certain businesses that know what they do well, and that they don't try to be something that they are not. I feel like Bread Basket is a perfect example of this scenario. I am giving them 5-stars, not because they are the best place to eat in Tustin and Santa Ana, but because they perfectly fill the niche of a great daytime sandwich shop. I have worked most of my life as a Medical Field Service Tech. I repaired stuff at different hospitals across most of the western US and a few other states as well.
In my local area, I have been lucky enough to have had sandwiches from Tummy Stuffers, The Gourmet Pig, and 101 Sandwiches. Perfect examples of this same type of shop. Usually not open on the weekends, there for the "Working Man" crowd. Huge, delicious sandwiches that fill you up and give you the wherewithal to get through your day for late night (and overnight) service events.
I encourage everyone to please look at my pictures for reference as I go through my review.
Inside of a little business park called Redhill Business Park. Limited hours. Great sandwich and food selection. They also have a beer and wine license so you can indulge if you are able to. Redhill and Valencia cross streets.
What a great selection of sandwiches and other food. The bread is incredibly fresh and soft (brought in fresh daily) and once they run out of a certain kind of bread, you are out of luck. Most famous are the 12-inch French roll for the large sandwiches. At this time, the large sandwiches are about $12.75. The same as the new Subway sandwiches, but so much bigger and better. More, More, More! So packed full of stuff and so good. You won't go wrong by trying this place.
Today was probably my 15th time here and it has been great every time. The staff is all friendly. They are willing and capable of giving suggestions based on your preferences. The prices are very reasonable for what you get, you will most likely bring at least half of any sandwich you get home or back for others. Or to finish up later on an overnight service job. Ask me how I know!
Be warned, it will start getting busy around the 12:30pm time frame from local businesses in the area. But they just crank these things out quickly, efficiently, and accurately. If you are done a little early for the day, they have the super cool bar area to have a beer or three, some pool tables to wind down or just some TVs to take away all your work thoughts and troubles. This business knows exactly who they are and what segment they cater to. And that is a beautiful thing.
Came in again today as I had business in the area, and I knew that they would be open. Ordered at the front, #1 with pepperoncini and a date shake. Hard to find a place anymore that even has those. Sandwich was ready in under 4 minutes, even with a pretty strong work crowd already gathered. Sandwich was fresh, CRAMMED full of tasty goodness. Please see my sandwich pictures, especially compared to a standard water bottle. Had to bring half home, enjoyed that half for dinner. Did not have any beer there today as I had other tasks that needed finishing before being able to. but I have before, beer is cold, reasonably priced and the people working and sitting at the bar are friendly. Easy to strike up a conversation or be left alone as you prefer.
Such a great place, check the hours before you go. People that have been Road Warriors for their work will probably understand this review better than those that are not, but even so.... just a great sandwich place overall. Can't recommend enough. Be sure to ask if you need something special, they are very accommodating and understanding. Have a great time here, I do!
