The Best Things We Ate This Month - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"“My pick is also from the newly opened Southern National. With a bread basket as good as this, my tablemates better be quicker to the draw—or just order a separate basket for themselves. Between the gentle spice of the jalapeño griddle cakes and the moist, almost cake-like biscuits, I am not trying to share all this salty, buttery, carby goodness.” — Nina Reeder, senior editor" - nina reeder, juli horsford, demarco williams, jacinta howard

Friendly people, good. Beer at 9:30am, GREAT. Easy to park. No line and almost no wait to get your food. The Philly sandwich itself was tasty but not the best I have had. It has marinara which is nice but results in a very very wet sandwich. The beef was too stringy and the cheese was barely existent. The included grilled onions were large chunks so a bit difficult to eat. I appreciate the lettuce I requested was shredded really fine as was the raw onion I asked for. It was a great option at 9:30am and since they have booze even at that time, who can complain!

Google
Came here for my lunch break and I used the “order ahead”- I ordered a total of 3 Sandwiches, 1 frozen lemonade, 2 chips and 1 fry and the total was about $40ish I got the BLT plus avocado and cheese and it was delicious. The bacon was cooked to “perfection” and it definitely had the crunch effect. Maybe I’ll give them another try and see how the other sandwiches are.

Google
First time here. One of the best "greasy spoon" deli I've ever been. The price is reasonable and the sandwiches are delicious. If I work in the area, I'll probably come here all the time.

Carlos C.

Google
I got a tuna sub with avocado, so good! Plenty of space to sit down. Beers are good and nice place to sit down and watch a game.

Tatiana T.

Google
Stopped at Bread Basket for a sandwich and I recommended. Got a turkey sandwich with squaw bread and all the veggies. Bread was super soft and the meat was stacked high. Wish they had sprouts or cucumbers to add but either way it was great!

Google
I love this place. They have definitely upgraded this menu and space. Its a nice hole in the wall lunch spot where you can also grab a beer on tap. The staff is nice and I think their sandwiches. What I love is the different options for vegetarian sandwiches. I ordered the veggie B and it tastes great. You can even add to it. It's worth a stop one day for lunch.

Google
This place has great food at a great price. Everything is fresh and it comes out in a timely manner. The staff is great and the place has plenty of seating. I highly recommend the Philly cheese steak

Google
The sandwiches here are really good, I like the capocollo sandwich. Anna is very nice and always provides very attentive service.

Yelp
In 2024 this was the place I used to go to consistently. I got their chicken salad sandwich no pickle tomato just lettuce and toasted on sourdough. This is by far my favorite thing in the world and I think I dream of it consistently. I will pay $100 just to learn the recipe if the owner won't let me I will sign a contract that says I will never say it to another person. This place is just the best. To the owner of bread basket, my offer is 100% serious and I am begging for the recipe. Please reach out to me. I will literally do anything and this will be the best Christmas present I can ever receive.

Yelp
Still the Best Sandwiches in Orange County -- Nothing Beats the Bread Basket! If you love a truly great sandwich, stop searching -- Bread Basket is hands down the best spot around. I've been coming here for years, and no matter how many new sandwich shops or chain restaurants pop up, nothing compares to the taste, freshness, and care that Bread Basket puts into every single order. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this is a family-owned and family-run restaurant. You're always greeted with a warm smile, the staff remembers your name, and there's that homey, welcoming atmosphere you just don't find in big franchises. They genuinely care about their customers and it shows -- in both their service and their food. Now let's talk about those sandwiches. Every bite is perfection. The long French rolls are baked to absolute perfection -- soft inside, with a golden, lightly crisp crust that holds up beautifully to every ingredient. You can taste the freshness in the bread alone. Add in their high-quality meats, fresh veggies, and flavorful spreads, and it's easy to see why they've built such a loyal following over the years. It's not just a sandwich here -- it's a full experience. The portions are generous, the ingredients are always top-notch, and no matter what I order -- whether it's turkey, roast beef, pastrami, or their famous Italian combo -- the flavor is always consistent. They've never sacrificed quality for cost or speed, and that's what sets them apart from places like Subway or other chain sandwich shops. At Subway, you get mass-produced bread and flavorless veggies. At Bread Basket, you get real food, made with real care. You can taste the difference immediately. Everything tastes homemade, like something you'd proudly serve to family and friends. Over the years, I've watched this local gem keep the same friendly faces behind the counter, the same high standards, and the same delicious flavor that made me fall in love with it in the first place. That kind of consistency is rare these days. Whether you're grabbing lunch on the go or sitting down for a quick bite, you know exactly what you're going to get every time -- great food, great people, and great service. Bread Basket is one of those places that reminds you what makes small, family-owned businesses so special. They care about the community, the quality, and the experience. Every sandwich feels like it's made just for you -- and that's why it's my go-to spot year after year. If you're in the area and craving a truly fresh, delicious sandwich made with care and quality ingredients, don't even think twice. Skip the chains -- go to Bread Basket. You'll walk out full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

Yelp
My supervisor and I came here for lunch. He actually recommended it to me since he's been here before and it was my first time. I ordered the famous Philly sandwich and some fries thinking the sandwich wasn't gonna fill me up but boy was I wrong! That thing kept me full for a good 10 hours and being that I'm on my feet for 8 hours a day moving appliances and lumber around. Definitely coming back to try the other sandwiches. Big plus to the cashier funny dude!
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden inside an industrial/business area, this place serves great sandwiches and service. I've never had anything that I didn't like here. Definitely give this place a try!

Yelp
First time coming here. Hidden gem for sure. Located on Redhill and close to work. Owner is quite friendly and the food comes fast. I ordered their turkey avocado bacon sandwich on squaw bread and it was made fresh and tasty. I also added a combo of fries and soda and side of ranch. Total bill came out to be around $18. Some items in the menu doesn't have prices so I wasn't sure what the overall cost would be. Good service. Indoor decor looks like cafeteria / bar area. Kind of dark but I like how big it looks inside. Outside you would think it's a business building.

Yelp
Bread Basket is located in a business complex at Red Hill and Valencia. Their front door faces Red Hill. If I'm in a hurry, and in a pinch, I come here to get a sandwich when it's super busy at work. Thankful this is close by. The staff are friendly and down to earth. Their breads are soft and yummy and there's a variety to choose from. You can add on chips and a drink to make it a combo. If you're there to hang out for a while, there's a pool table around the corner in the back and a small bar.
google avatar

George G.

Yelp
Not the best sandwiches in the world, but they do a good job. They actually have a bar in this place. Good looking staff, great service, reasonable prices. Well worth checking out.
google avatar

Lenora B.

Yelp
I have been craving a good sandwich so I googled a good place to go, and this place did not disappoint. They had many sandwiches to choose from and you can customize with your choice of bread, cheese, and toppings. So fresh and delicious. It satisfied my craving.

Yelp
Talk about a hole in the wall this is about as local as you can get. I was forced into going and I'm glad I was the food. Here is great. The onion rings are very tasty as are the french fries they have a whole bunch of sandwiches to choose from the staff is really nice and courteous and service is quick mix a bar with a sandwich place with a pool Hall and you've arrived at the bread basket. Check it out!

Yelp
Five stars for what we needed: fast, tasty, and local. So tasty in fact, we inhaled our sammies before any pictures were taken. Did manage to snag a takeout menu to upload for current options and prices. Got the Italian grinder on a French roll with sweet peppers and added mayo and deli mustard. Friend got turkey, avocado, and cheese on squaw, and two more grinders on sourdough. Pretty rare to find squaw bread on a menu these days. Bread was soft and fresh. Sammies were no muss no fuss and filling. Good amount of avocado too. They've got self serve sliced jalapeños and yellow chilis on the bar side of the spot so don't miss it if you're a spicy lover like me. Opted for Mac salad instead of chips and it was a good call. They've got nicely dressed Mac salad here. I could see stopping in for a cold beer and a comforting sandwich here after a shift. Call in an order if you're close to lunch time. We just barely beat the rush, but the staff knocked through it quickly.

Yelp
Love this little hole in the wall sandwich spot! Great Italian Grinder and Meatball Subs - Also great cheesesteaks!
google avatar

Yelp
hella good sandwich! Still eating leftover from yesterday. Im a tuna sandwich guy and they didnt disappoint.
google avatar

Betancourt E.

Yelp
They make a good sandwich here, the sandwich is very big , the place is kinda self service you order and pick up from the window . I love the roast beef sandwich here. The place is sort of like a sandwich shop/sports bar as they also have pool tables and serve cold pints.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by for the first time during lunch. Reviews looked good so gave them a shot. Location of the place is a bit hidden and can easily be missed as its in an industrial business area. I walked in around 11am and the ambiance was good. There were a lot of options to choose from on the menu. I felt like it was almost too many options as it made the menu overwhelming to look at. So i place an order for a cold regular turkey avocado and cheese sandwich and some lays bbq chips. There were no prices on the menu board as they were taped off. My total came out to $13.75. My order came out pretty quick which i was surprised by. Took my sandwich back to work and was surprisingly disappointed. The sandwhich was just Very basic. Nothing special, or exciting about it, and definitely not worth $13.75. I was really hoping for a legit sandwhich but Won't be coming back sadly.

Yelp
After learning about Bread basket on social media I had to check out cause I love a good Philly cheesesteak. It was excellent. Soft bread. Onions seasoned meat. Marinara sauce gives it a nice touch. And they serve beer. Never knew it existed. Plenty of seating and a pool table Can't wait to come back to try other sandwiches
google avatar

Kelly T.

Yelp
Such a cute and homey little spot in the wall! I was in the area and was curious to try this place out, and as an onion ring lover... I was even more stoked! Italian Grinder (3.5/5): Solid sandwich! Exactly what you would expect out of an Italian Sub! They were generous with the fillings and cooked everything fresh to order. The only thing I would recommend is requesting sub dressing (olive oil, salt, pepper) or even mayo because it did get a bit dry! Onion Rings (5/5): Star of the show! These were phenomenal and were worth the wait. They cooked them fresh for us and so the batter was nice and crispy! Well seasoned and the onion inside is still hot. Comes with ranch! Would come back for these rings

Yelp
Bread basket is a small sandwich shop that can be a little hard to find. It's within a complex that I think mostly consists of business offices. Walking in, I feel like I'm transported to the 1900s. There's a pool table, retro game machines, a bar, etc. I come for the sandwiches, though. The sandwiches are super delicious. They do take a bit to come out, but are so worth it. I love the philly, and order it every time. There are two sizes available, and I usually can just barely finish the regular (smaller) size.
google avatar

Felix Jr. C.

Yelp
I don't eat out for lunch much but when I do, it's the bread basket and I get my favorite, famous Philly grilled steak, grilled onions and peppers hold the marinara for me add a little Mayo and boom best philly in Tustin Thank you guys.
google avatar

Kim M.

Yelp
Kind of hard to see since it's in a business building. It's right off the street but a small sign. Inside is set up like it used to be an old bar/pool (billiards) place. Love that it has lots of seating so you're not on top of each other like most small sandwich shops. They have a variety of food options in regards to sandwiches, both cold & hot. They have veggie sandwiches and salads too. They also have a wide variety of drink options. The service was good and I got my food really quick. I ordered a roast beef with cheese (good selection of cheeses). All cold sandwiches come with mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickles. I think I would've liked an option for different spreads because although the sandwich was good, it seemed to be lacking more flavor. Although they do have hot sauces on a back table. The sub roll is soft which was good. Good size sandwich with lots of meat too for the price. I think the place could just use some updated decor since the back seating area looks kind of dark.
google avatar

Linda H.

Yelp
I can only speak to the food as I did a take out order. This place is a bit hidden. You would pass it if you didn't know the location. A bit of a hidden gem as the sandwiches I ordered for my team are already receiving high praises for how good they are. I myself got the Italian and it didn't need any other condiments. It was perfect as is. This sandwich was also huge! I couldn't finish the whole thing which makes this an amazing value as well. I'm definitely going to have to come back and try other sandwiches here, there's a lot of variety and the food was amazing!
google avatar

Adrian G.

Yelp
I order the same thing every time I visit. The sandwich is good, whats really amazing is the customer service. Steven at the counter is always in a good mood and I feel like this place couldn't exist without him. It's part of the experience to interact with him
google avatar

Diana B.

Yelp
It's located in a business complex and there's no distinguishing signs so you'll really have to LOOK for the store name. Walking in, it looks like an old diner/old bar type that only locals of a small town go to. There was a Hispanic girl standing at the register who said "hi" when I walked in. I looked up at the menu and noticed all the prices on the sandwiches were all blacked out so I couldn't tell how much anything cost. Me: can I order for to go? Her: what?? **clicks off AirPod** Me: can I order for to go? Her: yeah I guess she didn't want to turn off the AirPod when I walked in knowing I was eventually going to place an order?? I ordered a hot pastrami with cheese, the famous Philly, and an order of onion rings. They made the food super fast, I don't even think I waited 5 minutes before my food was ready at the window. There's some condiment packets by the cookie display if you want more sauces. What they don't tell you is they charge 99cents for credit card purchases. I compared the price on my receipt with the actual charge to my card. It would be nice to see a sign telling us about this up charge.
google avatar

Patrick C.

Yelp
Awesome customer service Great pastrami sandwich had a lot of flavor A cool spot to sit down at. Also if you want a beer they have that as week with a small bar

Yelp
I want to start this review by saying that there are certain businesses that know what they do well, and that they don't try to be something that they are not. I feel like Bread Basket is a perfect example of this scenario. I am giving them 5-stars, not because they are the best place to eat in Tustin and Santa Ana, but because they perfectly fill the niche of a great daytime sandwich shop. I have worked most of my life as a Medical Field Service Tech. I repaired stuff at different hospitals across most of the western US and a few other states as well. In my local area, I have been lucky enough to have had sandwiches from Tummy Stuffers, The Gourmet Pig, and 101 Sandwiches. Perfect examples of this same type of shop. Usually not open on the weekends, there for the "Working Man" crowd. Huge, delicious sandwiches that fill you up and give you the wherewithal to get through your day for late night (and overnight) service events. I encourage everyone to please look at my pictures for reference as I go through my review. Inside of a little business park called Redhill Business Park. Limited hours. Great sandwich and food selection. They also have a beer and wine license so you can indulge if you are able to. Redhill and Valencia cross streets. What a great selection of sandwiches and other food. The bread is incredibly fresh and soft (brought in fresh daily) and once they run out of a certain kind of bread, you are out of luck. Most famous are the 12-inch French roll for the large sandwiches. At this time, the large sandwiches are about $12.75. The same as the new Subway sandwiches, but so much bigger and better. More, More, More! So packed full of stuff and so good. You won't go wrong by trying this place. Today was probably my 15th time here and it has been great every time. The staff is all friendly. They are willing and capable of giving suggestions based on your preferences. The prices are very reasonable for what you get, you will most likely bring at least half of any sandwich you get home or back for others. Or to finish up later on an overnight service job. Ask me how I know! Be warned, it will start getting busy around the 12:30pm time frame from local businesses in the area. But they just crank these things out quickly, efficiently, and accurately. If you are done a little early for the day, they have the super cool bar area to have a beer or three, some pool tables to wind down or just some TVs to take away all your work thoughts and troubles. This business knows exactly who they are and what segment they cater to. And that is a beautiful thing. Came in again today as I had business in the area, and I knew that they would be open. Ordered at the front, #1 with pepperoncini and a date shake. Hard to find a place anymore that even has those. Sandwich was ready in under 4 minutes, even with a pretty strong work crowd already gathered. Sandwich was fresh, CRAMMED full of tasty goodness. Please see my sandwich pictures, especially compared to a standard water bottle. Had to bring half home, enjoyed that half for dinner. Did not have any beer there today as I had other tasks that needed finishing before being able to. but I have before, beer is cold, reasonably priced and the people working and sitting at the bar are friendly. Easy to strike up a conversation or be left alone as you prefer. Such a great place, check the hours before you go. People that have been Road Warriors for their work will probably understand this review better than those that are not, but even so.... just a great sandwich place overall. Can't recommend enough. Be sure to ask if you need something special, they are very accommodating and understanding. Have a great time here, I do!

Yelp
Was craving Pastrami and can I just say... Bread Basket certainly satisfied my craving! The Pastrami sandwich was bomb! The pastrami had great flavor and the meat had just the right amount of fattiness. Really loved the mustard and the pickles with the sandwich. And adding cheese is a must! It was a tad bit on the salty side but I happily chugged water afterwards because that pastrami was delicious! The Philly Sandwich was REALLY GOOD. My fiancé and I both loved it (even more than the pastrami sandwich). The sandwich was well balanced and loved the spicy peppers in there. A really tasty, comforting sandwich! Fries were solid but those onion rings really impressed me! The onion ring batter was light and not too oily. Fried to perfection and the entire onion didn't come sliding out when I took a bite. A textbook perfect onion ring!

Yelp
Great chicken salad. Moist chicken and plenty if it. Lots of greens and dressing. Very good! Had it delivered and order had everything I needed. Thanks
google avatar

Yelp
My go to for lunch, you ca never go wrong with Bead Basket they have a variety of menu options.
google avatar

Johnson C.

Yelp
Annual lunch at our favorite sandwich shop in Tustin. Another round of wonderful sandwiches and impeccable service. Love their service and staff!
google avatar

Timothy Spencer T.

Yelp
They weren't kidding when they said the large sandwich was big. It's definitely more than enough food for most. The egg salad blend was good. Not too heavy but at the same time creamy enough to hit the spot. It's a good place to stop for a quick lunch or a good post work hangout place.

BRANDON M.

Yelp
Whenever I'm in the area, they deliver. Amazing sandwich delivered with a smile. Local spot I will continue to frequent whenever possible, I appreciate all of you!
google avatar

Janine C.

Yelp
Would you like to go back in time and see what a sandwich shop used to be like? If so check out Bread Basket. Solid sandwiches that are just what you think they are, no surprises or weird twists. Their onion rings are solid and everything I've tried or have picked up for others has been good. We have eaten here a few times at off peak hours and there have always been a decent amount of customers. It's good.

Kim C.

Yelp
Really good sandwiches! Best pastrami sandwich I've found in the area. Go big and get the large size! Can always take some home for later. Happy to have found this place; the staff is easy going and friendly and it has a neighborhood gem kind of feel to it.
google avatar

Henry M.

Yelp
Great spot to have a sandwich for lunch. Quick and easy and affordable. The service is great and ambiance is calm and relaxing. Great place to unwind on a break. They even have a pool table. Would recommend.

Atom F.

Yelp
Great spot, tried pastrami and capicolla in separate sandwiches. Capicolla not so hot but pastrami awesome just right. Great value. Try it.

G S.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service. Good music. Great food. I would recommend it. Two thumbs way up.
google avatar

Manny D.

Yelp
Delicious! Some of the heartiest, freshest, and amazing sandwiches in the area! The menu has tons of options to choose from. They have 2 different sizes for the sandwiches, either regular or large. Unless you're taking it to go the regular will be just fine. You can even share a regular with another person. They have tons of seating and a bar area with freshly poured drinks. All the staff is friendly and welcoming. *Parking can be a little hectic during lunch time so be mindful of that. This is a great place for a great sandwich and awesome atmosphere.
google avatar

Val G.

Yelp
This was the first restaurant I went to after the pandemic closing and man was it worth it. I had the "Famous Philly" but no marinera [what's up with that?] I must say it was fabulous. The gal behind the counter was wearing gloves and a mask as was the person who made or at least passed me my sandwich through the window. Everything looked clean. It's funny because the everyone that walked in with a mask took theirs to go; still not sure if they should eat out or back at their place. Everyone that came in without a mask sat down and seemed like a local crowd, many of them knew each other. I would definitely come back. Trouble is what do i get next time. Leaning towards the fish fry!
google avatar

Steve H.

Yelp
Good Sammie's. Try the Philly and the pastrami. Also BLT on squaw was good. Counter guy is a little sassy which I like. lol
google avatar

Leslie C.

Yelp
What can they improve ? How about not having an absolute grump behind the register? One that curses and doesn't say hi or acknowledge you. At all. The name on my receipt says Steven- he needs to learn some manners. Our 1st and last time here. He also loves to stand right outside of the door and vape while people are entering and exiting. Super professional. Food was ok. Not worth the attitude. Ambiance is just your run of the mill industrial building deli type of place.
google avatar

Britni l.

Yelp
Satisfying work week sando spot. I frequent this spot often for a quality and quick sando. They're always filled well with fresh ingredients. Definitely rivals your local deli shop. If I'm not too hungry the half sandwich is plenty too. They are super fast with making them, but you can call and order for multiples. Huge menu with plenty of choices to serve whatever classic sando you're craving. They also carry Zapps chips! I always find that the best sando shops have them. Their pasta salad and side are just okay. I've tried catering them in for a work meeting and it's a bit messy and much for that setting. Plenty of space inside if you want to stay and eat too. They have TVs if you want to catch any day sports games.
google avatar

Judi S.

Yelp
Today's sandwich selection for my luncho is the club No. 7... the classic turkey, ham, bacon and mayo. On super fresh bread, you can't beat it. Subway can't beat it either. Delicious!!!
google avatar

Grease F.

Yelp
Turkey, Bacon avocado sammich!! Bread was fresh, turkey was excellent, I was at the right place and at the right time!! So good.
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
A nice sandwich shop that serves alcohol. It is hidden away in the industrial parts of Tustin. We usually order their famous philly cheese steak sandwich. It comes with marinara sauce. Sounds odd but is really delicious with cheese steak. The fish and chips are good but I recommend their sandwiches. Customer service is friendly. To save time, I place orders on the phone and come in to pick up

Mariana S.

Yelp
One of the WORST experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. The employee that was working there was completely rude (borderline racist). He was complaining that the whole time I was ordering, making inappropriate comments about the food I was ordering. And cherry on top they got my order entirely wrong. Would never go back. Would never recommend to anyone....especially if you are a woman. All the men working there made me very uncomfortable.

William S.

Yelp
Fresh food , great staff. Arrived at this location and was embraced with welcomes, bread was fresh and food was delicious! Not to mention they have beer and pool tables. Great place with a great ambiance. Hidden gem material
google avatar

Cass F.

Yelp
The food here is delicious! My new favorite sandwich shop. The Wow-Whee is my personal favorite, but everything I've tried is so yummy. Also, they have a bar... Cheers!! The team is super friendly too!
google avatar

Shad V.

Yelp
You can't beat this place. Cheaper than Subway and twice the meat. They even have a nice bar in case you line to throw down a few brews before going back. Very nice employees. Fast service.
google avatar

Frank P.

Yelp
I never in a million years would have known this place was here if not for Yelp. It's in an industrial complex in Tustin. They have an extensive menu including some breakfast items. It's hard to decide what sandwich to get with so many choices. I opted for the Italian. I made it a combo with fries and a drink. They give you a choice here of regular or dejon mustard. I asked for light Italian dressing since most places drown your sandwich and it gets soggy. My sandwich was perfect. Just a hint of dressing and the Dejon mustard was a nice touch. The bread was soft like they have on the East Coast. The fries are crinkle cut. They would be great with chili and cheese. I'll have to check the menu to see if they offer this. There is a bar area, TV's and a pool table. This would be a cool place to kick it and watch sports on weekends, but being in an industrial complex they are closed weekends. I think I've found my new favorite sandwich place in my area.

Yelp
Came here today for lunch, clean restaurant, friendly staff. I had the 8 inch Pastrami with cheese and mustard and pickles. It was yummy!! This place has many sandwiches as well as vegetarian options. We will definitely come back and try some of their other menu items. They have TVs on the wall and play great music here too. Did I mention they have beer also??
