Bread by Bike

The best bread and cinnamon/cardamon buns in London! I found them chasing the cinnamon rolls served in a few local cafes. They have a very nice 2in1 bakery and cafe complex. The cafe is light and spacious. They serve cakes, pastry, breakfast and lunch meals, cold and hot drinks. The bakery has bigger choice of pastry than the cafe and it’s not a problem to bring it to the cafe - worth checking as for example almond croissants are fantastic. I had a cardamon bun and I loved it. Made in Scandinavian style and full of flavours. The coffee is good too and they have a few milk alternatives. The stuff is very friendly and the toilet is clean and has all supplies. I recommend this place for meeting friends, work or just to buy a bread.

Interesting business concept. Company has two permises next to each other. Bakery and coffee shop. If you want to seat inside coffee shop is right place. If you want to buy coffee to go so bakery is for you. They use Ozone coffee roastery beans. Flat white £3.80 for 6oz cup seems to be good price. Nice and smooth but aftertaste doesn't last enough long. On a scale 1 to 10 I'd give it 7 points.

Great bakery! I had some really nice pastries here. They have a seating area next door. However, I wouldn’t be ordering coffee here again.

Bread by Bike is definitely one of the best cafés in London that I have visited. The combination of a café and a bakery two shops in one is truly a winning formula. In the café, you can enjoy excellent coffee or cappuccino, the result of a careful selection of blends (I’m Italian and I know good coffee!). They also serve delicious sandwiches and dishes, all freshly prepared with great care in the kitchen. The bakery, in addition to various croissants (the almond ones are truly outstanding), bakes fresh bread every day honestly, the best I have found in London (and I’ve been living here for about twenty years). The entire staff is absolutely kind and helpful, creating a family-like atmosphere very few places in London manage to create such a genuine vibe. This café is perfect for meeting friends or studying, with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Absolutely recommended. P.S. The toilets are very clean, but not accessible for wheelchair users.

We had breakfast there 4 times during our vacation. The staff was very friendly and polite. The service is very fast. The coffee size is quite big (which is great compared to Germany:). Banana bread was the best I've ever had in my life. I hope they give me the recipe :) Grilled cheese toast is a must try !Their cardamom and brownies were also very good. Space is also very good for who wants to work remote.

I absolutely adore this place, everything they make, and the wonderful people that make it happen each and every day ♥️ Food & Drink: • Literally every single item on the menu and in the pastry case is SUPERB. I haven’t tried a single thing that wasn’t to die for. • I was told the menu changes each month so I won’t write my specific favorites (and it’s a long list), BUT WOW the Nduja bun… the toastie… THE GRANOLA. It’s all so good 😭 • I am so happy they serve filter coffee and it’s good every time 💧☕️♥️ • Espresso options are excellent too, and I also love their other drink options like the Steep Co ginger beer & Cola! Even the red & white stripey straws they use are lovely. The Space • The space is gorgeous, spacious, and quiet. • The music selection and *volume* are perfect. • It stays lovely and cool in the summer. • WiFi is great ✅ and they have power outlets 🔌⚡️ • The layout is very pleasant and there are plenty of seats and beautiful big tables. • Bathroom is nice and clean. The People • Every single staff member I’ve encountered has been lovely. I genuinely look forward to seeing them and it’s one of the reasons I keep going back again and again. I try not to talk their ears off because I know they have a job to do and I don’t want to assume they enjoy talking to me as well 🤣 but I really do enjoy the interactions I have with them, it’s nice to feel like they’re happy to see me and also happy to help me decide what to order when I decide to finally stop ordering the lemon drizzle cake from time to time. • As someone who’s worked in many cafes, managed one, and just a massive enthusiast of coffee shops as human spaces that are the lifeblood of communities and fostering love and interaction within them - it’s not a coincidence that at some places, most staff are a bit rude or lethargic, etc. while at some special places, literally everyone is wonderful, passionate, caring, helpful, and a joy to be served by. Bread By Bike should really get credit for fostering this culture in their cafe ♥️ The Price • I would say everything feels very fairly priced for London. • There is a service charge built-in when you eat in, but it’s reasonable. I’ve seen some London cafes recently who literally mark up the price of all food items by 20% if you sit in PLUS a hefty service charge, which sometimes feels like being robbed 🥺 It’s really hard for me as a creative who’s barely scraping by on savings, but Bread By Bike is a place where everything feels fair, that brings me so much joy and genuinely improves my day, my productivity, and adds texture to my life here in London, and so it’s places like this that really feel worth paying for. Thanks to the owners for creating this incredible place and to the entire staff who keep it running day in, day out ☀️🌻 You are all wonderful and I will do everything I can do find ways to spread the love and appreciation for London’s finest cafe 🫶🏼☕️🥖🚲✨

I have been a customer for 3/4 years, the quality of bread has reduced dramatically in the past year. Burnt loafs, flat (not raised) baguette. For the price tag I am expecting more. Be careful or you will start losing customers, especially with other good options nearby.

Amazing sourdough bread. And the focaccia is absolutely amazing ( especially the fig/walnut ). The croissants and pastries are truly the best in London. Small bakery to ABSOLUTELY visit! 💥💥💥💥💥✨✨✨✨✨. 5 stars! Delicious!

It's a very stylish and hip place. I was here twice now: once to simply have a carrot-cake muffin to go and the other time for lunch (bibimbap). The food both times was delicious and I'd come back for that. What bothered me a little is that the staff wasn't really customer-forward. It looked like they had fun working with each other as they were bantering but it almost seemed like me - the customer - was a bit of a bit of a nuisance.

I am not sure how they do the bread here to make it so amazing, but it is. It is like the bread from the finest most amazing chefs. That is the closest comparison I can give, because it is so good that I have really had bread this good in my life. It certainly makes the stuff from most supermarket bakeries look very second rate. I asked someone there, how they make it so good and he said it was process. Fundamentally to me it is made with love and they really care, so the process has been perfected. The crust is beautiful and thick, the centre has a beautiful taste and texture with flavours locked in that I have not normally found in bread. The delivery person is very helpful and very nice, they deliver it themselves personally and it is not subcontracted. If you have any interest or love of bread, this is the place for you. If you were never really that interested in bread, the amazing level of this bread may change this for you.

Incredible staff, very good bread and coffee. We like the breakfast and the takeaway sandwiches! I would definitely recommend this for a weekend breakfast or to work for a couple of hours!

I was hopeful that we might have a good sourdough bakery when I popped into Bread by Bike's grand opening last Sunday (June 2017). My espresso aficionado friend was even more excited when she spotted a very good espresso machine. I also stopped by later in the week to see what it would be like on a regular day... and to give it a second chance. The small cafe was chock-full of jovial neighbors and friends. Though it felt like a Victoria tube car at 5 pm on a Friday, we inched our way to the counter and ordered: an espresso, a latte, layered fruit/cream shortbread, cinnamon bun and sandwich. The latte was good. The espresso by itself was slightly bitter and overly acidic with very little crema. According to the aficionado, the server might not have been trained to pull a proper espresso or Bread by Bike use the wrong beans. The whole wheat (lots of brown bran bits) bread was tasty enough and had a chewy texture. But at £3.75 for a smallish loaf, I will keep buying Bumblebee's (a few doors down) £2.75 large loaf (twice the size and better tasting). The shortbread was so sweet that we tossed it out after we each tasted it. The cinnamon bun was yummy & very sticky/toffee-like, with a pretzel-textured dough. The grand opening gratis items included an Italian style flat bread with cheese and veggies that we liked a lot! Sadly, it is not on the regular menu. I went back a few days later and found a serene environment, pleasant counter staff and only two other customers (one doing paperwork and another taking a breather). Everyone was more friendly than in an average cafe. 5 minutes later, the buggy crowd arrived... 7 of them, complete with 7 wee ones, some screaming - serenity replaced by chaos. While I don't begrudge parents a place to regain their sanity and socialize with adults, a small shop doesn't absorb such impact well. I sat at one of the sunny tables, sipping espresso (still not great: almost no crema and bitter). I will probably go back for an occasional latte when it is quiet, ever hopeful that the food/baked goods will improve and prices will be more reasonable.
