The Best Asian Bakeries In Atlanta

"Of course we’d fall for a place called Bread Connection. But this Taiwanese bakery is more than its name since you can fulfill your gluten fantasies and walk out with a savory pork bento or a pork and rice bowl. We particularly enjoy the Taiwanese chicken nuggets. They’re freshly fried, well seasoned, and have a crispy exterior and juicy interior. We also like that they have traditional pastries, such as pork floss-topped ham and cheese buns, and sesame and coconut buns. There are only a few tables here, so most people ordered to go. And if you do, be sure to grab one of their refreshing, not-too-sweet fruit teas, too. " - candy hom

Google
I really enjoy their pork cutlet bento and pork cutlet sandwich—healthy and delicious. This time, I was pleasantly surprised to snag one of their pastry surprise bags after work. The bag included a ham and cheese bread, a sesame bun, a red bean bun, and a white chocolate cookie. I had them for breakfast the next morning, and everything tasted really good. A very satisfying surprise and definitely a great value!

Google
This was a cute little establishment with just a few tables. It’s a spot to grab something quick and get on with your day. I enjoyed my egg salad sandwich, my kids liked the fried chicken sandwich. Also got some pastries, and they were pretty good. I also got the brown sugar milk tea and lychee, and they were alright. I will stick to a boba place for my boba cravings next time. Overall, the lady working was very sweet, and the atmosphere was nice. Plenty of parking as well. I will definitely come back for their sandwiches.

Great food. Great service. I ordered the pork sandwich meal (sweet potato fries and passion fruit green tea ) and it was made to order. So fresh and so delicious. The portion was enough for my husband and I to share.

We are incredibly grateful to have this bakery in Atlanta, as it not only offers outstanding flavors but also brings the authentic taste of Taiwan's local cuisine to us. So far, we have indulged in a variety of their delectable offerings, including their fried chicken, fruit teas, desserts, fries, sandwiches, and more. Each dish truly embodies the essence of Taiwan's local cuisine. Having visited Taipei in 2015, we can attest to the authenticity of their flavors. Although our home is not in close proximity to the bakery, we eagerly make the journey during weekends. Starting from Thursday or Friday, we begin planning our meals and carefully selecting our favorites from their menu. The anticipation builds as we wait, but the remarkable part is that they never fail to exceed our expectations. Their sandwiches are undeniably the star of their store, always freshly made. They are incredibly popular and sell out within moments, prompting the owners to return to the kitchen and prepare more sandwiches immediately. It's logical, isn't it? The popularity speaks volumes about their freshness. Yesterday, we enjoyed a delightful picnic with their sandwiches. As we sat under a tree, it suddenly dawned on me why we adore early summer: the gentle sunshine, the refreshing breeze, and the sheer bliss that can be encapsulated within a simple sandwich, crafted with the perfect combination of ingredients.

Google
Service was great, they bring the food to you when it's not too busy. Food comes out piping hot. I had the pork bento and feel like it's worth the calories for a lunch meal but a bit pricey for the content. Coffee was mediocre, nothing special. Ambience was a nice place to catch up with friends; tables were modular to form for larger groups.

Google
We drive 45 minutes to come here compared to the places closer to us and going past Duluth bakeries even. All the different bread loafs are a must get. Taiwanese lunch plates would be a go to if I lived or worked nearby.

Google
Such an incredible hole in the wall bakery & cafe! The kindest couple was so patient with us & took their time explaining how their bakery items are made & the quality of their ingredients. We enjoyed a couple of fruit sandwiches & a cucumber sandwich & they were both incredible. Also grabbed a Pocari sweat drink to hydrate us on that hot day. Wish our trip could’ve lasted longer so we could get them again — worth it! We will be returning!

Google
The owners are the sweetest and cook all their dishes with love. All of their breads and pastries are baked fresh in house everyday! Their specialty Taiwanese nuggets, yakisoba noodles, and iced coffee were my favorites! I’ll be back🚨👏🏽

Yelp
The coffee is great! The sandwiches are good! I like how their fruits in fruit sandwich stay crispy and the cream is not too sweet! I do like their ham sandwich more than the fruit sandwich though. I need to try more stuff from them some other time, but overall they have good food and drink!!

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Taiwanese lunch and delicious sandwiches, this is a great place to stop by! The owners are super friendly and caring and speak Chinese. My beef braised meat and rice bento had white pepper on everything, which is common in Taiwanese dishes. If it wasn't so far away from where I live, I may go there more often!

Yelp
This is a tiny little hidden bakery that I will definitely be coming back to. They didn't have many options left since it was close to closing time, and I didn't want to make them cook anything fresh that late. I got a ham and cheese bun - it was great! Salty ham, creamy cheese, and a light fluffy bun. Plus it was super affordable. Going to try more here!
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
Came by an hour before closing and there was still a decent amount of stuff to choose from! Loved their Taiwanese sandwiches - great snack and affordable. Soft fluffy milk bread. Their black sesame bun and taro pork floss bun were also good but wished the bread was softer. No seating inside, just a grab and go place. Girl at counter was really kind.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and love the fruit teas since they have so much authentic tea taste and flavor. Tried the chicken nuggets as well, very good. I would like to come back to try their bread

Yelp
If you think this is just a bakery, you are wrong. Japanese fruit sandwiches, Korean garlic cream bread, Taiwanese pork sung bun, Taiwanese crispy chicken nuggets... They offer more than you think! Been here twice and finally I was able to try the fruit sandwich!! It is not only pretty looking but the cream tastes sweet and fluffy, fruits are fresh and sweet! They have all kinds of sandwiches that are easy to grab and go. We tried the BC signature sandwich which has pork sung, egg, ham, cucumber, mayonnaise. Their chicken nuggets are must try as well. They are made to order, so you can be sure they are crispy and delicious. There were a few tables and seats for dine in. Clean and cozy. You must come early before all the signature sandwiches or breads are gone!

Yelp
The sandwich was so good. The fruit was fresh and the sandwich was so good and light. The owner is so sweet. We came one day and they were sold out she gave us her business card and told us to call before we came back so she could put them aside for us. She was so sweet! If you are ever In the area I would recommend. Also runs great deals.

Yelp
This is a is a cute mom & Pop Taiwanese cafe. They make authentic Taiwanese food like sandwiches, bento boxes, baked goods, drinks, and snacks. For all their sandwiches, they make the bread in house and freshly make the sandwiches. The fruit sandos were sooooo delicious! Light & juicy with the fruit. Make sure to try their cream cheese garlic bun! It's so creamy and yummy They also offer custom cakes which needs to be ordered 1 week in advanced. Honestly, everything tasted so good and I could taste & felt the love from the owners. The owners are so kind and make you feel at home!

Yelp
Bread Connection is a newly established Taiwanese Cafe with a lot of drinks, pastries and taiwanese snacks! Service was super friendly, I came in around 8:45 PM (they close at 9 PM) and they still welcomed my party of 2 with a smile! The place is super clean, very bright and there were a lot of bread options. Overall I'd recommend anyone who is stopping by Duluth to check this establishment out. It is ran by really kind people and the food and service is phenomenal.

Yelp
What a hidden gem in Duluth. Truly a hole in the wall. Fresh baked goods, sandwiches, boba tea, chicken nuggets. They got them all. The fruit sandwich i got reminded me of the ones you get in Japan. Delicious, light and fluffy. The taiwanese nuggets were perfect. Highly recommend to go check them out. Decent prices. Friendly owner. Seems like a family owned business. Go check them out.

Yelp
A simple bakery with Taiwanese influence. They offered baked bread products a long with hot plate dishes. The egg sandwich was really good as well as the Taiwanese chicken nuggets. Looking forward to trying more on my next visit.

Yelp
I have been wanting to stop by here for Chinese style bakery. It is located behind the BP off PIB in the same shopping center as dollar tree. There's plenty of parking and was easy to locate. The inside is bright and clean. There was lots of variety and everything looks fresh! I decided on pull apart sesame bread and butter buns. They also have bento boxes you can order and custom cakes too! I toasted the breads before eating (suggested by the owner) and they were so delicious. The butter bun was soft and fragrant and the sesame toast was swirled with lots of black sesame paste. It was subtly sweet and just the way I like them. The owner was so friendly and answered all my questions about custom cakes. I can't wait to come back and try their other items.

Yelp
Such a joyful experience here today! My husband and I planned to head to the park with our kids and wanted to pick up sandwiches for a picnic. I placed an order on the website to pick up at 10:15 (the earliest available time). The online ordering process was simple, although there are a lot of categories to wade through--if you know what you want, you'll have no problem. Keep in mind there aren't any descriptions of the items, so knowing what you'd like is key (if you aren't sure or have questions, I'd recommend ordering in the store as they are so very helpful). The ordering system places your order but you pay at the register when you arrive. On first impression, the store was clean, modern, well-lit and beautifully furnished. I loved the seating area which has bench seating (great for kiddos) and leather chairs that were incredibly comfortable. When we arrived the cashier said our sandwiches were in the process of being made, but she offered me coffee on the house while we waited! Such good service. Keep in mind, they make your food to order for the highest quality product, so if you're in a hurry you might want to place an online order or give them a call. The best thing was, they didn't mind that our kids were a little energetic, and interacted with them happily--it made us feel very welcome. We waited about 15 minutes after arrival, and the weather turned to rain by then, so we decided to forego the picnic and eat there. Great music (it was Ghibli piano songs while we were there), comfortable seating, and the food was delicious! The sandwich bread is a fluffy but dense milk bread that is surprisingly filling, and the pork Katsu and chicken Katsu were still crunchy and warm. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and I enjoyed the addition of cucumber to the sandwiches. The sandwiches have a subtle flavor, so if you're looking for something spicy or intense, I'd say to try elsewhere. The star though, was the fruit sandwich. Really incredible! The tangerine tasted like a creamsicle with the cream cheese/whipped cream, it was all I could think about that afternoon. I see why this sells out--if you'd like to try one, get there early! The owner was so welcoming and explained that these fruit sandwiches take a lot of time to prepare. I felt the care and pride in each of the sandwiches we had today, along with the lovely service. That will keep us coming back, again and again!

Yelp
Super cute interior, adequate seating for pairs or smaller parties. We got 2 katsu combos (1 pork, 1 chicken), and it was very filling. You could probably share it with someone since the portion is a decent size. It also came with fries and any of the tea drinks they offered! We came too late to grab any fruit sandos, so if you want one try to come earlier in the day! Overall yummy food for great value and will def be coming here again to try their cheese garlic bread!

Yelp
This is my second time coming. But I'm always greeted and I made sure I came before rush hour this time. They have a little more selection this time. I love the food! But star goes to they fruit sandwich's & Ham sandwiches "in my opinion"They bread are good & soft as always. You can tell they time to make they bread & dishes. I do recommend coming & trying them out. Very quit & clean establishment. Keeps me full whenever I choose certain things of they menu.

Yelp
Wonderful little gem tucked away in an unassuming shopping center in Duluth. I initially came here by chance as I saw it while filling up gas at the BP next door. So glad I did! They have a wonderful selection of bread, hot sandwiches and hot food boxes. The first time I went I tried their egg salad sandwich and their signature sandwich, both were very tasty and filling. This time I got to try one of their lunch boxes, the pork katsu box was massive that I ended up getting two meals out of it. The pork was tender and flavorful; tomato and egg side is such a comforting classic. Initially I thought it just came with plain rice, it's actually topped with minced pork. Yum! The meal is $16 and it also comes with a fruit tea that is typically $4-5 at most tea shops. Tasty and excellent value! I believe they have some sort of promotion on Tuesday mornings for pastries and bread so come early!
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
The service is great and the food is even better! The bread was absolutely amazing, it was fresh and such unique great flavors that regular bread stores just don't have. The pork chop sandwich was fresh and the portions were huge! Heavy on the onions but I personally love onions so it didn't bother me. I can't wait to come back, even if it's not for the 50% off Tuesday sale!

holly p.

Yelp
Drove all the way there first thing in the morning to try and get the fruit sandwich for my kid but was told they had no more? It was literally 10 minutes after they opened. On Tuesdays they have 50% off on some of the breads but I thought those were just ok. I did get the Katsu sando for my son and he did liked. Maybe next time we will could actually try one of then fruit sandos.

Yelp
Small little mom and pop shop that just opened. I saw that they posted on Facebook in the group ATL Asian Eats. I decided to go and give it a try and show a little support for small local businesses. I've been craving taro and got a taro bun (paste tasted like it was freshly made in store and bun had a nice bouncy and chewy taste with milk bread flavor) and a caramel macchiato (was good but maybe a little less milk ratio). Service was quick and easy. I went Sunday around 3pm and a little over half of the baked goods were gone. I will return earlier the next time.

Yelp
This place is a cute mom and pop Taiwanese cafe and I've been coming here since I've started working at Gas South Arena because it is the only place where I can find the Taiwanese sandwiches that I miss so much! They make the food fresh to order and that is the best part, but also the drawback. You will be waiting. I called in my order 20 minutes out on a Saturday and still waited another 25 when I got there because there was a group. A couple had waited 50 minutes and still not gotten it. The old Taiwanese couple that runs this place are so incredibly sweet and remind me of my aunt and uncle. I will for sure stick to weekdays, probably earlier in the day because the food is so good!
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
I have been here twice already, and am always excited to visit. Bread Connection's breads and made freshly everyday and their bento boxes are authentic. My favorite thing to get are their sandwiches - they taste just like the ones in the 7-11's in Taiwan! Literally was in tears when I took my first bite. Their service is great as well, as they actually were able to make my sandwich warm for me after I asked. The store itself is not super big, but there are a couple of tables for eating in.
google avatar

Yelp
Per Google AND Yelp you're supposed to be open from 11am-8pm on Mondays. I get here to discover you are closed on Mondays. Thanks for wasting 30 minutes of my time by not updating your hours of operation.
google avatar

Yelp
A hidden gem. Fresh bread, lunchboxes/snacks, teas, there are no misses here. Everything is great. The Taiwanese sandwiches are packaged like ones that you may find in an Asian convenience store chain, and they have so many options. My personal favorite is the pork katsu sandwich, but they have chicken, veggie, fruit, and pork floss options as well. I do recommend you try to grab them fresh though The teas are well flavored, and the tea flavor shines through. There are plenty of flavors to choose from. Good if you like tea :)
google avatar

Teresa V.

Yelp
Love this place! The sandwiches are amazing and the bread is really delicious too. Favorites are the club katsu sandwich and the strawberry cream sandwich. Service is also really welcoming. Starting to become one of my favorite mom and pop's

Susan P.

Yelp
On our morning walk we decided to grab a bite at the Bread Connection nearby. Everything looks so delicious we couldn't decide. But we agreed on a pumpkin muffin, a cherry-cheese pastry, a cranberry-cheese bun, chocolate chip cookies and BC sandwiches for our lunch later. To drink we ordered cold green tea. Yum! I love my hot coffee but this tea was incredible with rich floral hints. Hibiscus, maybe? The service is friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back for more decisions, decisions!

Yelp
Calling out to all my friends who enjoyed Taiwanese style pastry/food. I discovered Bread connection one day my looking through google because I was craving for Chinese pastry and around Duluth there's only sweet hut which is overrated. Hubby is Taiwanese and he was ecstatic when I sent him the link to this place and we went the next day. Hubby normally despise anything sweet but his eyes was wide open when he first entered this place. He saw all the katsu bun and pork floss one as well. We ended up getting some pasties with 2 katsu bun and one pork floss just to try it out. We left astounded by all the flavors and his childhood coming back since his parents sent him back to Taiwan for primary school, so he literally grow up eating this type of snacks and he's in love with Bread Connection. With me working all week so hubby went back to the bakery the next 3 days with him buying 15 of the katsu bread for the nail shop and before he going to his cousin wedding in Florida. I will recommend this place to all the people that have never tried this style of snacks and is willing to try it. Did I mentioned they also have katsu bento box with traditional side dishes and well as combos. I only tried their passionfruit green tea and it was delicious. Until next time!!! Peace

Yelp
Excellent authentic Taiwanese breakfast sandwich. Taste even better than I remembered, brings me back to the memory having these sandwiches when I was a kid in Taiwan. Owner is very friendly. This will definitely be one of my "must go" when visiting Atlanta.

Jenny C.

Yelp
Everything is excellent except the minced pork, not too bad just not much flavor. The only drawback is waiting time is too long, definitely understaffed for the weekend crowd.

Say C.

Yelp
Unfortunately, they did not honor the special chicken nuggets bogo yelp deal (went before Dec. 31st). I showed the owner and asked about it, and she said it was a mistake? Not sure what's going on as she said she would call to take it off several weeks ago. Aside from this the drinks are fine and the special sandwich (about $3.50-$4) is great! The chicken cutlet sandwich is good too. Unfortunately, the bit more expensive ($4.75-$5) egg sandwich had way too much shell. Eggshell sandwich anyone? I'll pass. This was true for all 3 I had ordered, so it is not a one-time mistake. 3 stars since some of the sandwiches were good and most of the bakery items/pastries were out. May reassess after trying these other options.

Yelp
I've never experienced racism at a food establishment until today. I recently visited the Bread Connection on 08/02/23 at 12:45pm. I wanted to surprise my wife with some sweets. When I walked into the bakery, I wasn't acknowledged. There were three people inside the place, two males, older and younger and a younger female employee behind the counter. I spoke to all, but only received a nod from the older male. I proceeded to the counter to purchase chocolate chip cookies. I stood at the counter waiting for the young lady to come over. She never took my order or acknowledged me. I waited patiently for about a minute or so before walking out. I get that there are horrible people in the world. You may have had an bad experience with a person of a particular race. That doesn't mean that "all people of that race" are bad. The stereotype that has been displayed, accepted and acknowledged about black people, is the same I have for all races and genders across the board. Ignorance is universal. I didn't leave upset, but more so flabbergasted that people truly have a problem with others because of the color of their skin. I wouldn't recommend this establishment. If that's the way you treat people, I will shop someone else. Tip: "Green & plastic" is what is considered the root to all evil, but it's accepted everywhere.

Y Yelp Y.

Yelp
Bought the sesame bun and the coconut bun. Both very good. Wish they had more selection of buns. See they have a fried pork bento type box for lunch and various coffees. They could put that fried pork cutlet into a bun like they do in Macau. Really miss those macau pork sandwiches. Again just wish they had more selection of buns. Otherwise, nice clean and friendly staff.

Yelp
I tried Bread Connection this past weekend for lunch and it was a delightful experience!! I live in Midtown, but went up to Duluth to see some family. I wish they were closer to the city so I could eat them all the time! :) They were in a little strip mall type complex, and super easy to get to with plenty of parking. The inside of the cafe/restaurant was very clean, well lit, with bright, cute decorations. We got there at around 12 on a Saturday, and they had plenty of yummy breads baked and ready to go. We were there for the sandwiches though, so skipped those (to save for next time!). The display cases for the sandwiches were actually pretty empty (guess they were selling out quickly), but luckily, they were making them fresh in the back still! We ordered and egg sandwich, as well as their special sandwich (pork sung, ham, egg, cucumber, and mayo). Both were DELICIOUS and reasonably priced! Don't remember exact prices, egg sando was under 4 dollars and special sando was under 5 dollars. They were very simple, but all the flavors worked together super well. The bread was soft, a little sweet, and just the right thickness, and all of them had just the right amount of filling. Will definitely be back to try more. They also had a spot for pork sung "xiao bei" in the display case, which are like little pork sung sweet cakes. They were sadly already sold out, but would love to try one sometime too! Service was nice and brisk, and a very enjoyable experience. Also used the bathroom, and surprised to find they had a super fancy toilet with a heated seat and tons of buttons! A fun surprise :)

Yelp
I had a superb time here and would give over 5 stars if I could. Bread Connection recently opened, and as a lover of chinese bakeries/restaurants, I had to give a try. It was really busy when I went, and the few seats and tables were full inside an outside the store. Ambiance is homely/comforting; it's simply decorated but I love it. About half the breads were gone at 1, but i found 2 that looked good: puff pastry pork sung ($3.5) and taro bun ($2.75). The pork sung was a little bit dry/bland (would be awesome with a little bit of the mayonnaise sauce that usually goes on pork sung breads) but the bread quality was good, and the taro bun was really yummy (i think the filling was white bean and taro paste). The highlight of the visit however was the taiwanese fried chicken bento box. At $16 (a bit high but definitely worth it), you get a generous serving of chicken, tomato eggs (the comforting classic !), marinated cucumbers, pickled radish, braised pork over rice, and a choice of drink on the side. I ordered the passionfruit green tea and accidentally spilled it, but the employees were super kind and made me a new one! They also got me an extra chair to have while I waited since all the seats were taken. I spoke a mixture of chinese and english, but they can understand both. Back to the food highlights: the chicken was heavenly and the pork over rice was dreamy. Not as good but still delicious were the tomato egg and marinated cucumber (i have a high bar though because I eat them at home all the time). The passionfruit tea was also perfectly sweetened, fresh and refreshing, and a great balance of flavors. Highly highly recommend the bento and fruit teas, from this experience, and I'll definitely come back again.

Nada A.

Yelp
Definitely recommend! We tried the peanut, coconut, and corn buns and they were all super good. I also ordered an iced americano and it was just right. The person servicing me was super friendly and made sure to greet us as we came in. The place is small but very cosy.

Yelp
This is a Taiwanese bread and sandwich shop with combo meals. It's very authentic and delicious.

Yelp
The food is absolutely speechless And the people there are so nice and helpful. And the setting is unique in its own right
