Boston Restaurant and Bar Openings, September 2024 | Eater Boston

"A Lebanese bakery and restaurant serving a variety of mezze alongside freshly made man’oushe—flatbreads topped with za’atar, vegetables, and other fillings—and wraps. The offerings emphasize traditional flavors presented in a casual bakery-restaurant format, ideal for quick bites or shared small plates." - Erika Adams

My favorite restaurant in West Roxbury! I’ve loved everything I’ve ever ordered here. I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while, but the food is always so good that I end up enjoying it before I even think to take a picture. Consistently delicious, fresh, and clearly made with love—an absolute gem!

I’ve been driving an hour to West Roxbury to see my chiropractor once a week and my husband and I recently discovered this great little restaurant, Bread Thyme. Gabi is the chef creating delectable Lebanese dishes. Everything is incredible, this is the epitome of fresh and clean food. I have never had Lebanese food before and Gabi loves to take the time to explain his dishes. We’ve been here a few times and I try to taste something new each time. Today I got a Caesar salad with Kafka on top, which was great, and my husband got the Chicken Shawarma wrap which he loves. We always get the bread, and today it was fresh out of the oven and still warm. I took a video of my husband breaking it open with the steam coming out, but we can’t put videos on Google reviews! Gabi’s wife, Joelle, makes these amazing gourmet chocolates. Today we tried their Signature Cup filled with nuts and dates, topped with a heart made out of fig. It was delicious. If you’re ever in the West Roxbury area this restaurant is a must try!

Food is amazing and you can tell that every morsel was made with lots of love 💕. I'm on mission to try everything on the menu. The best part of this experience is the way they make you feel like you are a part of their family as soon as you arrive. Plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options.

Visited today for a daddy/daughter date. The food was excellent and the service came with a smile. Highly recommended. Owner operated, it shows that they take pride in their business. My daughter is a picky eater and she ate almost as much as I did today, which is very impressive.

Very nice Lebanese restaurant, located on a main street with a free parking lot nearby. Pleasant interiors, comfortable seating, clean restroom. Lebanese music in the background, not loud, adds to the atmosphere. Fresh, authentic and tasty food, the portions are not large but of decent size. Very good service, friendly and hospitable, fair prices. Very good place to enjoy a quick meal of real food, Bread Thyme is a great addition to the neighborhood !

This is my new falafel place in West Rox! A cheap eats family run Lebanese restaurant with fresh veggies and great falafel and homemade hummus. I’ve gotten their falafel wrap and it’s great, with pickled beets and the usual stuff. Today I ate at the restaurant and had a tabouli plate with falafel and hummus. It’s so hitting the spot that I had to review it! I like the atmosphere in this cozy family restaurant. Everyone who takes your order knows the menu and can answer questions. The food didn’t take more than a few minutes to bring out and it’s as good as making it from scratch at home! Sometimes I’m disappointed by restaurant food but not here. This is fresh and seasoned well and I feel lucky to live nearby! Come check out Bread Thyme!

Yelp
I enjoyed this place way more than I had expected! We were looking for a place to eat that was open for lunch on July 4th and thankfully we saw their sparkling "open" sign as we drove by. Ordering was at the counter and the person was so friendly and patient with our questions. We initially only ordered the chicken shawarma and moussaka and Dubai chocolate cup (no matter what, this is what I needed!). As we ate, we realized the food was good and we'd like to try other items. So we got a mulberry juice and a flatbread - 1/2 zaatar and 1/2 cheese. Everything was tasty. Some specific points: the chicken shawarma is more like a kebab than the shaved chicken I'm used to, it would be nice if they offered both. The zaatar can be a little tart and that's where the cheese balances it out. The mulberry juice is sweeeeet but great for a hot summer day. The moussaka came out cold which I was a little surprised by. The Dubai chocolate was fantastic, the only downside is that it's tiny haha. I could've eaten one more. It's an airy bright place and they also have seating outside. Parking is convenient. I'm sure we'll be back.

Yelp
I'm almost hesitant to write this review. Why? Because I'm scared Bread Thyme will simply become too popular if people find out how amazing the food is and how sweet the owners/employees are. If you've been looking for a real deal Mediterranean/Middle Eastern spot this is it. Cute but smaller cafe with green everywhere, it's wonderfully cozy. I'll start with the most impressive thing ever... fresh Baklava! Not store bought and resold, actually fresh baked baklava among other tasty middle eastern treats! And they were good... so good. I really went crazy and ordered a fair bit of the small and well curated menu. The wraps are enormous to start, simply huge. You could easily make two meals out of them. The chicken shawarma wrap had plenty of tender chicken but a good mix of vegetables and sauce that created a good balance of flavor and texture. The Falafel wrap was similarly amazing, and the falafel was well made! It is so rare to find well done falafel in the US so this is quite notable. My only gripe is that I wish you could just order some falafel on its own maybe with some hummus or labneh. The Za'tar bread was so good. Like crazy good. Bread was clearly freshly baked there which come on! Thank you! I wish more restaurants had the care to make their own doughs. I did not ask but I am 95% sure they are also making their own Za'tar mix. A mix wish I hope they sell in the future because it was some of the best Za'tar I've ever had. The notes were so bright and not muted like most imported mass produced Za'tar. Call me crazy but please go try the Za'tar and tell me for yourself. The Tabouli was phenomenal, very fresh cilantro, great citrus notes, and good tomatoes. Simple but really well executed. I just wish the portion was slightly bigger (the portion is fair size, but it was just really good and I wanted more). The employees/owners are super sweet Lebanese family. They were happy to chat and suggest things and answer questions and were so clearly passionate and excited about what they were making/serving. I really hope they are there when I come back. Prices - surprisingly fair. Coming from downtown Boston I've gotten use to $15 or even $20 for a wrap (it's crazy). Here the most expensive wrap was $10.50. When considering the size of the wraps too, this is one of the best value props I've found with good food in the greater Boston area hands down. 5 stars -will return most definitely. I want to emphasize the 5 stars, I rarely rate a full 5 stars. I consider a restaurant to be top 5% essentially at 5 stars. Bread Thyme is the real deal and worth a visit for anyone looking to try some authentic Lebanese/Mediterranean food.

Yelp
Top notch all around. The flavor, quality, proprietor, even the space itself is excellent. The bread is the star of course, and is freshly baked and hard to beat: the za'atar bread is where it's at and is a must order, and you can get it a variety of different ways (note the 'veggies' on the "labne and veggies" option are tomatoes, cucumbers, and olives FYI). The spinach pie is also tasty, and I bet the lamajun is equally as good. And if you're lucky to order at a certain time, you'll get a side of their poufy bread with your entree instead of the standard thin pita. Their wraps are pressed for extra texture, and the Taouk wrap had great flavor with the toum and pickles. Their falafel was another standout: fresh, so light, so flavorful, definitely one of the best in the area and another must-order. And don't sleep on their prepared foods case: their moujadara is deceptively delicious, and their baklava and namoura are an excellent way to end the meal. The owner is super friendly and proud of his food, and it shows. I love how they have bowl options, and can't wait to try the chickpea one. Would love to see more bowl/dinner options (taouk rice plate?), and maybe a shrimp option- and maybe extended hours too?

Yelp
Wow. Bread Thyme was recommended by a friend and the reviews are right. The chicken shawarma was the best I've ever had. The spinach pie is great. The restaurant is very clean and the lovely smell of spices and Lebanese music makes for a pleasant dine in experience. The gentleman at the counter, one of the owners, was very gracious. I will be going back!

Yelp
I am thrilled to have this lunch option available here in W. Rox! The food is home-made, and authentically lebanese. It's a family-run restaurant with a warm-vibe and wonderful service.

Yelp
The wonderful aroma coming from this place dragged us in for lunch and we were not disappointed! Delicious food and inviting casual dining experience. I was gifted a cup of tea to try and it was delicious as well. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
My son Nicholas got me a salad from this restaurant and it was wonderful. What a great place to open up in West Roxbury! Fresh food, wonderful service! You can eat inside. Parking is around the corner! Great prices!

Yelp
Great Turkish food run by a local family. Everything is fresh and clean. It's my go to take out place.

Yelp
First time here based upon 2 different couples recommendations. Plainly stated it is great. The spinach pie was huge, had great taste and the crust was thin and cooked perfectly. I had the Kafta plate and the beef was well seasoned, rice was moist and soft, and the salad and humus were also well seasoned. I was greeted by a friendly gentleman at the point of sale, order taken, and sat down to wait a short time for my order. All in a great experience with great food. Also the place was very clean. Cheers and thank you Bread Thyme. I most certainly will be back.

Yelp
Falafel was amazing - many places serve dry falafel, but the ones here were super crisp outside, fresh and herby inside. Menu has many Lebanese/Arabic staples and the staff were friendly and accomodating. Can't wait to come back here and try more of their menu!

Yelp
First time there and will definitely go back! A great addition to the neighborhood. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. I ordered the Zaatar flatbread - delicious and a falafel wrap that is enough for two meals!

Yelp
Three cheers for Bread and Thyme!!! We had the zatar bread which was crunchy and tangy and totally addictive. The spinach pie had tons of fresh veggies and a lovely lemon flavor. The two powdered sugar were nut based and will become a new favorite in our home. To make it even better, the owners are complete loves, and they want everyone to feel welcome in their space. They also sell a nice selection of food items from Lebanon. Just what West Roxbury needed.
