We ordered the salmon egg toast It came out pipping hot and fresh. Toast was crispy on the edge and buttery all around. good amount of salmon the sandwich it’s a good item for breakfast/brunch and lunch. There’s plenty of seats inside and If weather permits you can sit outside. all the staff were friendly. If you need the washroom, you can ask for the code

The service was slow, taking 25 minutes to serve us. The food was okay for the price, but nothing special. I won’t be returning, but I might use this place as a shelter from the rain. The bread was a bit burned.

A genuinely good egg sandwich, got the pulled beef and highly recommend anything on their menu. Bread is perfect and the caprese salad was a great combo, but probably would go for the soup next time. The atmosphere of the store is pretty lacking though, it kinda feels like four employees are there but two of them aren't doing anything so you're pouring water and cleaning up after yourself. And compared to the food the front desk looks like I'm going to a mall convenient store. Maybe it's the location because getting here feels like I'm entering an apartment lobby, you'll see what I mean. But yeah food is great, just try it.

This place is amazing!!! I ordered the unagi egg sandwich and was expecting a bit of unagi on the sandwich--but dang this location far exceeded my expectations! They served the sandwich with an unagi the same size as the sandwich! Service is also topnoch as they bring the food to my table. Will definitely bring my partner here again next time!❤️

I loved this bistro, nice staff, good choices and variety of meals served, nice venue, view of the courtyard. I ordered a bacon burger and the french fries were fantastic! Recommended!

The cafe is so cute and music was amazing. Food was so so good, I recommend the avocado me. The egg was so light and fluffy. And the mushroom soup was amazing.

Having experienced the Egg Bomb sandwiches, I was excited to find that Bread and Butter Cafe showed similar images. There wasn't anything on the menu that was vegan, but I saw that they had vegan ingredients. We ordered an Egg and avocado on brioche bread, and for me, a DYI sandwich with sauteed mushrooms freshly made-to-order, and avocado on multigrain bread. Both sandwiches tasted dry and unexciting, not very similar to Egg Bomb sandwiches. When we sat down in the courtyard, we were surprised to find that the seats were so warn down. However, the location offers uncovered outside seating that overlooks a small lawn, quite a nice setting, away from busy Georgia Street.

I was early and the young man opened just for me! Not only is the food and coffee amazing, the view is spectacular!

Last meal in Vancouver and needed something quick and yummy. Glad I read the reviews on how to find Bread x Butter as it's tucked inside an office building. Heard New Jeans playing and did not put together that their egg toast is Korean inspired until later. Got the spam egg toast with an iced americano. Friend got confused and ordered the bacon egg cheese sandwich, but it came on an english muffin. The bread for the sandwiches was huge, a bit too much bread at the bottom with no filling, but fluffy and nicely toasted. Loved the touch of nori inside the sandwich.

I ordered the Hawaiian egg toast. The bread, egg and spam were delicious. I would have preferred it without the seaweed, but that's my fault for not noticing that before ordering. It was very filling and I was fueled for a full day of sightseeing! We sat outside and the courtyard space was peaceful and pretty. I felt isolated from the street noise in a little oasis. It was perfect weather to sit outside and enjoy delicious food in a serene space. We even had a little feathered friend to entertain us. As others have noted, it was a little hard to find. We Google mapped it and it brought us to the right building but we couldn't figure out how to get inside of it or where in the building it was. However, I then checked the Yelp posts for direction, and we were able to quickly find it based on Yelpers directions.

I visited the Bread x Butter Cafe located in downtown. It's in a hotel lobby pretty hidden from foot traffic. When I went in, they had some special summer drinks so we tried their coconut matcha and another drink which had aloe, orange juice, soda, and a shot of espresso. I couldn't taste the coconut in the matcha and the other drink (can't remember the name) was very bitter. We thought that the combination of the ingredients would go well together but it did not. For food, I got their famous truffle mushroom egg toast. It was pretty cheesy and good but lacked flavour. I wasn't sure what the hype was but the aesthetics were good! The other thing we got was their mushroom toast, which was served cold to us and was just a slice of bread with mushroom, salt, pepper, and cream cheese. The service was ok, they were quick to take our order and didn't take much time to get the order ready. Wouldn't say they were the friendliest. Haven't tried their Burnaby location yet!!

Cute place, kind service, good food! Many thanks to the previous Yelpers who described how to find this place because it was definitely hard to find. Glad there was a mini-sandwich board outside and that my partner spotted it entering from the Hornby entrance. The cafe faces the Bill Reid Gallery of Coast Art. I got the Avocado Me egg toast, a side salad, and a London Fog. I was impressed with the amount of egg, and I appreciated the fluffy toast. It looked difficult to eat, but it was constructed well, and I had no trouble at all. The side salad was also significant, which I was quite happy about because it's hard to eat enough vegetables while traveling. It included mixed greens, beets, carrots, cucumber, and celery topped with a vinaigrette. The London Fog was also quite lovely--the perfect amount of foam and sweetener for my taste. It is a little pricey for what it is, but this cafe is my type of place and I'm on vacation.

We got the Hawaiian Luau Egg Toast ($13.65) for takeout. It was so big that my bf and I were able to split it. It had a large amount of egg and also had spam, seaweed, and cheese. I don't like mayo, but the mayo amount was very light. The flavors meshed so well together and kinda reminded me of eating a spam musubi! It came out piping hot and was the perfect breakfast!

Located inside a big office building in downtown Vancouver, Bread & Butter Cafe serves large breakfast sandwiches at high prices for the brunch crowd on weekends. We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday, and as the other reviews said, it's a bit hard to find. You just have to enter the office building and then follow the noise. There is standard cafeteria type seating, and it was getting pretty full by the time we arrived. It's very casual, where you look at the menu postered on the counter. You order and pay first, find a seat, and the food will be delivered to you. You can get water in plastic cups if you ask for it. Two of us ordered egg breakfast sandwiches ($11), while two of us ordered the udon specials ($14). I got the udon mixed with salmon roe and furikake, and I didn't care for the combination. The other was udon mixed in with bulgogi. Both were topped off with a overeasy egg. The sandwiches had plenty of scrambled egg, and the brioche egg bun was thick and expertly grilled. But the ingredients didn't seem like it was top notch, and everything was put together a bit haphazardly. It definitely gave off cafeteria, mass produced food vibes. The menu is definitely large, but wouldn't really want anything else on the menu. It's a kinda place where it would fit as a courthouse cafe, where jurors and professionals would eat their lunch while continuing their trial...you take advantage of the food because you have to be there, but wouldn't come there just for the food. I thought the food was just OK and the service was average.

I was staying in DT Vancouver and the breakfast at the hotel was too large, so I was looking for a place where I could easily get toast and a cappuccino. I luckily found this place within 5 minutes walking from my hotel. However, I didn't check the location carefully and ended up passing by the store. *Located inside the "Cathedral Place Building". There is another coffee shop on the right when you enter but keep walk straight, you'll reach this place. I had decided to order bread and butter, but the staff was kind, so I changed order "Avocado me" and (L) Almond milk latte. There is space where you can eat inside the store. The courtyard of the building that can be seen from the window is wonderful. Avocado-Me is Brioche loaf, fresh avocado, scramble eggs, cheddar and kewpie mayo. Avocado me was warm and delicious. If you are tired of hotel breakfast, you may want to come here.

The food is tasty, and there is a lot of variety in egg toast sandwiches. The service is friendly and quick. The one issue is the Bread x Butter location as it's in an office building; while it may be busy during the week, on the weekend, the office building is pretty empty; therefore, not a lot of ambiance. Other than that, if you need a quick meal, try this.

we were looking for a breakfast place close to our hotel. yelp led us to this place. it was located behind an office building. it wasn't that busy when we came so yay for that. first you order at the front. and they'll bring your order to the table. service was pretty fast. i got an egg toast with spam and egg. it was served on a brioche loaf, so soft and buttery! egg was fluffy! and spam was cooked just the way i like it: crispy but still soft. my husband got the truffle mushroom egg toast. i didn't try it but he loved it. tried their passion fruit juice, not too sweet, which is a plus. avocado me sounded pretty good too. but i was craving spam. perhaps, ill try it next time!

My friend and I were visiting from Las Vegas and Walking in this place is super cozy and such friendly staff. The food was amazing the classic breakfast sandwich delicious and their homemade jelly is also a good try! Would 100% recommend giving them a try!

I got takeout from here for Mothers Day. It's like this business lunch place and very quiet on weekends. - truffle udon - really good, everyone loved it - truffle egg toast - I didn't get a bite but my wife loved it - spam and egg toast - was really good. I love their fluffy big egg - taste is wonderful. - breakfast combo - not bad. - vegetarian udon - great but it was way too spicy for me. I didn't know jt would be that spicy. All in all this is a different brunch place with Hawaiian twist. Truffle stuff was outstanding. More of this kind of place please!

This spot is located inside the cathedral place building. This building is aesthetic! There's plenty of seating and music is played on a speaker. You order first and the staff will bring your food to you. I've ordered the Hawaiian Luau Egg Toast which consists of Brioche loaf, spam, scrambled eggs, cheddar, crispy seaweed, and kewpie mayo. The toast is pretty thick and the eggs were really fluffy! Overall I enjoyed this! I wished there were more seasoning or sauce to drizzle on top though. Ketchup would also been nice too, but I'm not sure if they had any. I would give this a try if you're in the area and wanted a nice and quick brunch!

It took a long time from ordering our food to being served. We ordered some chocolate chip muffins and they were served cold. Overall average experience.

Parking: We knew street parking was tough so we walked there from our hotel 3 block away. Ambience: fast pace breakfast atmosphere. Service: The service was very friendly. We asked for a few recommendations and there was a minor miscommunication and we received the wrong order but they made up for it by providing drinks on the house while they made the correct order. Food: I ordered the truffle egg sandwich and Hawaiian Luau Sandwich. Both were amazing. Overall: Great service and food. I would definitely return.

Great place for breakfast in DT Vancouver! Tucked away in the plaza across from the art gallery ; hard to find but worth it!

So we decide to branch out and find a new breakfast place in Vancouver. The name is "Bread x Butter" so you know I'm down. Imagine my surprise when my bread arrived with NO BUTTER! I had to ask for butter. I looked at my husband and said, "It's in the title!" I also had asked for extra crispy hashbrowns but instead she charged me for EXTRA hashbrowns. Lastly, my food arrived but my husband's did not until about 7 minutes later. No one said anything about it. Kinda weird overall.

Great food and service today ! This place is located within an office building. They know I'm not from around here when I tried to order a cold brew The truffle egg toast had some creamy golden mushrooms with truffles and scrambled eggs. The toast was thick and not burnt. The Hawaiian Luau toast is essentially a spam masubi with spam, seaweed, and scrambled eggs - lots of protein! Seating looked about 30 indoors.

Locked away in front of a beautiful courthouse parklett bread and butter cafe was a perfecf start to the Monday. I spent $12 on the Avacado egg sandwich and it was delicious and filled me up. They bring you the food if you are eating inside so good service. The bread was very fluffy as with the eggs. The sauce they used paired very nicely and was a very good sandwich. You can eat your breakfast and look at the nice cathedral views. Quiet and hidden away, great place to have breakfast if you are visiting!

Ordered Bread and Butter. It was pretty much sliced bread from a grocery store with a side of butter for $9. I felt like I was getting punk'd. it took them over 15 minutes to bring it out and it was slow. Only a handful of cutsomers.

The Ham Classic Egg Toast was a great idea for a quick midafternoon snack. It was light, but also substantial (that brioche!). Surprisingly, the amount of kewpie mayo was not as bad as I anticipated. I admit, it's a bit tricky to handle and eat 'gracefully'. It's a mouthful, but a small price to pay for a yummy treat. The egg was just nice, soft, and fluffy; the ham was even on the sweeter side, more so than the salty side.

A HIDDEN GEM. This place definitely needs more reviews. It's a little cafe tucked within a business building. A pretty unconventional place. I didn't have high expectations for the food but I was definitely proved wrong! I think they change the menu often because it is completely written on a chalkboard and looking at previous reviews of this place, they didn't have some of the items that were pictured. Nonetheless, they have a modest but delicious-sounding menu with a lot of asian inspired flavors. When we were here, it looked like their main menu items were udon noodles and egg toast. I got the crispy ebi toast and my boyfriend got the mushroom truffle udon. Both were incredible. The ebi toast had a soft pillowy bread that was perfectly toasted and the ebi was so crispy and satisfying. I don't know how they made the eggs so fluffy but it was to die for. The truffle udon had a medium truffle taste with loads of mushrooms and a runny egg on top! If I worked in this building, I would be coming here everyday. Overall, this place is super underrated!

Such a simple concept with big flavors. I ordered the Prawn Star, which is fluffy scrambled eggs, cheese, poached prawns with lemon and capers aioli between two buttered toast. It was delicious and I would definitely come back to try the other flavors. As another person had mentioned earlier, the only issue for me was that it can get messy without utencils. Enjoy it outdoors in their green space or food court-like setting inside.

The location of this spot is a little weird. It's in a corporate building that's totally silent on weekends, so when we came it was hard to find. A very gruff front door manager directed us but only after we wandered around the lobby for awhile. The setup feels like they haven't fully moved in-- there were a lot of boxes everywhere, and it was hard to find a complete menu. The seating didn't match the other cute branding/decor, and it felt like we were sitting in an abandoned mall. I got the truffle udon which had great flavor but was very rich and a little cold; I wasn't sure if it was meant to be a hot or cold dish. It was also a pretty expensive lunch! As we were finishing eating, we realized we were across a courtyard from the Bill Reid gallery, which is excellent and made the location feel a little bit less like we were at a corporate office after-hours. I'd like to come back and try something else off the menu, since people seem to love it overall! Maybe it was just a strange time to come, and would be better if we weren't the only ones in an echoing granite hallway!

The food did not disappoint! I tried the Avocado Egg Sandwich and I was so surprised at how much avocado was on it (a LOT!) Most places really skimp on the avocado but there was SO MUCH on this sandwich! It was very yummy and I will definitely be back when I visit the area again.

This cafe is hidden inside Cathedral place and it's perfect for lunch. They have a lot of egg sandwich options which is what I came for. I chose the Hawaiian Luau sandwich with eggs, spam, seaweed and kewpie mayo. The brioche bread was really soft and there was so much fluffy egg in this! It was very filing and reasonably priced too.

They are one of the downtown financial district's earliest cafe openings (apart from your fast food Tims and McDonalds). I ordered on Ritual shortly after they opened and was able to get my order quite quickly. I decided to try their spam egg toast and their matcha latte with oat milk. It looks like they took over the old Filipino cafe/catering that used to be in Cathedral Place (could be wrong about that). There is lots of dine in seating and I could see it being a popular spot post covid fears. I noticed that they have changed their compilation/display of their spam egg toast - the first few pictures I saw, used shredded nori on the kewpie mayo. When I saw that, my first thought was oh, it was going to be a bit messy to eat, although aesthetically pleasing. I was super glad to see they have now grated it finer so its more similar to a pepper-like consistency, so you don't waste any of the nori. Not sure if it was due to customer feedback or their own in-house testing. Really liked their spam egg toast; super filling, perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs, well toasted and put together. Only criticism is I wish there was more Kewpie mayo :) The matcha latte with oat milk was pretty good as well. The staff making it asked if I wanted some syrup for sweetener and had me taste it before I left so that he could add more syrup if needed. Quite thoughtful and much appreciated. I will be back to try some of their other egg toasts and other menu items! One day I'll get down here for the weekend brunch menu, which also looks delicious.

Delicious coffee & very friendly service. A great place tucked away right in the heart of downtown Vancouver if you are looking for breakfast or lunch. They told me they also cater and do picnic boxes which would be a fun addition to a day trip in the city.

I would give this place a 3.5/5 if I could. This cute little cafe has lots of sandwich choices and lunch choices. Not to mention a beautiful little courthouse outside. I had the matcha latte and the Hawaiian egg toast. The 3/5 is strictly for the Hawaiian egg toast as the egg was creamy and delicious and the spam wonderfully crispy but the bread got soggy so quickly and kind of just melted into the paper. The combination of egg, spam and seaweed is a total classic. Matcha latte was definitely a 3.5/5 - not overly sweet but I wish there was a bit more matcha to make it stronger (just a tad).The service was super friendly. I loved the packaging - very cute and it also made the sandwich easy to eat. Would want to go back to try the chicken waffles and udon!

Extremely average, the peanut udon was recommended but the flavors did not fit breakfast foods. It was also quite bland. The truffle egg sandwich was better than the udon, but there was nothing special about it, no truffle taste just egg and bread

Awesome café name and even more scrumptious food. When you have a massive fluffy, moist and creamy cushion of scrambled eggs topped over savory meat, cheese, or mushrooms, tucked neatly inside toasty silky white bread, it is impossible to beat. Can't ask for anything more except maybe another portion of this yummy sandwich. There were not too many people when we went but I felt they put in a lot of care and effort to make the food. Staff was also very nice. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

Get the Spam! Don't be silly like me and try to get something else. They do Spam well and their seasonings are the perfect combo for a Spam and egg sandwich. There was plenty of seating and it likely would've been a good spot to sit and do some work if you needed access to wifi and/or needed to get out of the rain for a while. It was a little confusing to find as there is construction going on, but wasn't too difficult once you follow the signage. FYI - No bathrooms available to the public at the moment, but looks like there are when construction isn't happening.

What a gem in downtown Vancouver! Located inside 925 West Georgia is a cute cafe with indoor seating and a lush open outdoor space outside the building. I ordered the truffle mushroom egg toast ($9.50) and was not disappointed. Mushroom, cheddar, truffle aioli, fluffy eggs in between yummy bread. Only complaint is that it can be hard to eat without utensils as you gotta grapple with the box. Otherwise it's super yummy!

I got the torched salmon udon and it was really delicious. The flavor of the seaweed butter is subtle and the pickled vegetables add a complexity of flavor I really enjoyed. The salmon was perfectly cooked. The only downside of this item is that it doesnt match the uber eats image that shows a salmon fillet which would be better value for the price of the item. Nevertheless the item was very enjoyable. The sous vide egg I am assuming did not travel well since it was likely popped since I could not find it

I came to try their egg toast. I saw a picture of the Hawaiian Luau and knew I needed to try it. It features crispy fried spam, scrambled eggs, cheddar, crispy seaweed, and kewpie mayo. It's very hearty...maybe a little too salty and even a little heavy to the point the bread gets soggy. I would share with someone. My partner got the porchetta eggs benny, and the sourdough with jam. The porchetta was kind of dry, and the potatoes were lukewarm. The bread and the jam wasn't anything special either. BUT, apparently, they serve complimentary waffles with their brunch, and these were definitely my favourite part of the meal! Nice choice if you're around the area and are craving some breakfast foods, but I wouldn't go out of my way for them.

Great spot for breakfast sandwich and udon noodles. Went for the Hawaiian luau sandwich and fell in love with the eggs and spam. The scrambled eggs were so fluffy! The udon was perfectly cooked as well but it was on the pricier side. Well worth it to get multiple sandwiches!

The quality of this place has gone downhill since the second location opened Today orders the lunch combo and while the sandwich was delicious blt he salad was super wet and dripped water making it soggy I guess without the owner there quality has gone down

Hidden gem Tucked away in downtown Vancouver is this little cafe/restaurant. And it's on the more affordable side of places in downtown! ALSO with every Benny order for a limited time you get a side of FREE crispy waffles! * Waffles ~ nice and airy, already have syrup on it and it's perfect amount nice and crispy and sweet. Not too sweet but very light too! Batter is already semi sweet so the subtle light drizzle of syrup is all you need! * Hawaiian luau egg toast ($9) ~the mayo used adds such a good flavour profile. The toast is nice and toasted and thick, eggs nicely scrambled not too runny nor over cooked. Spam is nice and thick too! The seaweed in the sandwich really helps balance out the salty spam and mayo! * Bennys west coast ($14) ~ nicely poached eggs, nice and fresh smoked salmon, with a side mixed salad and paprika crispy potatoes. The hollandaise sauce is nice and creamy, not too overpowering. * The works ($14) ~ comes with sausage, bacon, ham, eggs, paprika seasoned crispy potatoes and toast. Those potatoes are on a whole new level! Ultra crispy and very well seasoned! That bacon was ultra crispy holy!!! Only wished the bread had more butter. * London fog 16oz ($5) ~ very creamy and foamy, not too sweet. Nice hint of earl grey. * Iced matcha latte 16oz ($5.50) ~ not too sweet and not too strong. Nice vibrant colour. I am one who has a sweeter tooth so I wish it was slightly sweeter. But for those who don't like too sweet this is the drink for you! * Americans 16oz ($4) ~ * 8/10 ~ super delicious, i do wish some of the drinks were a bit sweeter and that the Benny had more hollandaise sauce. * 9/10 ~ very cheap for delicious filling food in downtown! And plus that limited time waffle promotion is such a steal!Total bill before tip: $51.50 * 10/10 ~ we came on a snowy Saturday at 9:30am and it was pretty quiet here! So social distance was great!

This place is more of a 3.5 but it has some good pros. They are situated in front a nice courtyard and have really nice and friendly staff. Food was very good and arrived quickly. The only con is their menu felt a bit limited, I would have liked to see a variety of other items.
