"Now with three area locations in Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, and Chattahoochee Food Works in Underwood Hills, folks can satisfy their soup and deli sandwich craving both inside and outside the Perimeter at Breadwinner. Order soups and stews like turkey chili, tomato basil bisque, hearty chicken noodle, and even gazpacho on warm days. There are daily soup specials on the menu, too. Soups come in three sizes: a cup, bowl, or quart." - Eater Staff

"The second location of Sandy Springs-based Breadwinner Cafe and Bakery opens Friday, July 31, in the former Wright Gourmet Sandwich Shoppe in Dunwoody Village for soup, salads, sandwiches, and grab-and-go food. In addition to limited dine-in service, Breadwinner includes online ordering for takeout and delivery via UberEats and GrubHub. Breadwinner Cafe is owned by Geoff and Katie Melkonian, who own Farm to Ladle restaurants at Ponce City Market and Avalon in Alpharetta. The Melkonians announced they were taking over the Wright Gourmet space last spring, following the closure of the much-loved sandwich shop after 35 years there. “We’ve wanted to be in Dunwoody for a long time, and this was the right location,” Geoff Melkonian says in the press release. “It’s in the center of town, and the community has been incredibly supportive. The Wright’s Gourmet was a coveted family favorite for so long, and we feel honored to be opening our second shop in such a beloved space.” Following a complete renovation of the interior earlier this year, Breadwinner now seats up to 75 people between the dining room and enclosed patio. However, capacity is currently limited to 35 people until the health crisis ends. As for the menu, expect freshly made soups, salads, and sandwiches, such as an Italian sub, pesto panini, and pimento cheese, boxed lunches, and weekly off-menu sandwich platter specials, like beef tenderloin with grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes. Breadwinner also offers catering services and an in-store marketplace selling baked goods and breads, dressings, dips and spreads, and prepared meals." - Beth McKibben

This is nice little walk-up deli counter. Food is fresh, soups are delicious. We arrived as they were closing at the end of lunch (no dinner). Most of the food had been removed from the display, but they were happy to serve us nonetheless. Turkey chili was exceptional. Definitely worth a visit.

Google
What can I say, the most healthy food I have had. Plenty of choices. We choose a trio for lunch. Soup, salad, and a sandwich. Soup was delicious and the sandwich. Salad was good too. Many choices of each. Order from the right side of the counter... daily items are on a board. Can't wait to visit again with friends.

Jordan Leach

Google
$12 gets you the sandwich with the paltry topping shown. The other image is the advertised quantity from their website. To-go order, unfortunate to see them take advantage of customers like that.

Google
Nice lunch spot. Very popular so be prepared to stand in line during peak hours. There is a great selection of sandwiches, salads and soups as well as delicious baked items (you deserve it). Food is served almost cafeteria style customized as needed, and you take the food to your table. Staff is efficient and friendly. Nice open dining area that can get noisy during busy hours.

Google
This place deserves 5 stars but unfortunately I had a very unpleasant experience. When I first got to the place I was impressed with their cozy atmosphere and good quality food at the market section. But when I went to the register, I mentioned to the cashier that it was my first time at the café and asked how it works, he rolled his eyes on me and said that I could order a sandwich, soup, or combos. Food was delicious, so I will go to the other units.

Google
I don't understand these restaurants with hard surfaces every where. There is nothing to absorb the sound and it's very loud. I love a Cuban sandwich. I've had them from Miami to NYC. Breadwinners was the worst I've ever had. Barely any meat. They put it on the press dry. I can go to Jersey Mike's and get twice the sandwich for half the price. Invest in a couple of acoustic panels for the walls.

Google
The level of customer service in this location is appalling! The two guys at the front have zero personality! When you say thanks, and the one guy says nothing back is RUDE! I would give zero stars! If they don’t start to hire better people, this location will close! Plus, the display case used to look nice, now they just either have nothing in the case or small potions of the food out. It looks terrible and like the place is either closed or out of food. I will gladly drive over to Sandy Springs rather than going to this location! And the hair in my tuna salad sealed the deal for me…done!

Google
We got lunch here on a Thursday because they were offering a free Trio (normal price $12.99) for teachers and hospital healthcare workers, which was such a nice gesture! We got our food to go. In Covid times, employees were wearing masks. But for customers, masks were only “encouraged,” which is disappointing. There were spots on the floor for social distancing. Certain tables were also blocked off for social distancing. We both got Trios. I got Greek Salad (good), Fancy Grilled Cheese (average), and Tomato Basil Bisque (very good). My husband got Greek Salad, Turkey Reuben (less than average), and Parnsip Coconut Cream Soup (good). Overall, we were pretty disappointed in the food. It was average at best. The soups were good, but everything else was just eh. If I was rating it based on the Trios alone, it would be 3 stars. The saving grace was the cookies. We got the Heath Bar Cookie and the Chocolate Chip Cookie ($2.50 each). The cookies were 5 stars. I would definitely go back just for those cookies. Everything else, I could do without.

Yelp
Breadwinner Cafe was a nice stop for an easy lunch. The service here was quick and pleasant. It's counter service with some premade food, but they are helpful with picking things out, but still keep the line moving. The ambiance was great for an easy place to eat. They have a large single room seating area with good light and plenty of tables. The food was also really solid and I found it to be a pretty good deal for the price. None of the food was super amazing, except for one thing, but everything was just good and didn't disappoint. The amount of food was surprising and I definitely had leftovers with a big bowl of chili. Going back to what I mentioned was amazing, the chocolate chip cookie. I've had a lot of cookies in my lifetime but this one could be up in the top 3, it was delicious! I wish Breadwinner was closer so I could come by daily for this cookie, it's a must try if you visit. Overall, Breadwinner Cafe is just an easy place to get some food you know is going to be good for a decent price. If you're looking for a solid lunch option, stop by and don't forget to have a cookie.

Yelp
The food quality is pretty good although the menu options are limited. The service at this Dunwoody location can best be described as unengaged and indifferent. My biggest pet peeve with all "Breadlosers" is you can't order a sandwich without the condiments that come on it which seems like a pretty easy request. I'm a recent cancer survivor with radiation sores left in my throat so can't enjoy spicy stuff. Hate that I miss out on trying some of their options because of this

Robin M.

Yelp
This is a very good lunch spot. All types of sandwiches and soups. This was our first visit, they were very helpful with the menu items and suggestions. The atmosphere is easy going, you seat yourself.

Tiff H.

Yelp
Breadwinner Cafe is a WINNER in my book! I was going through a major soup and sandwich and PESTO PASTA SALAD phase... and Breadwinner is perfect for all of the above. I'd been to Sandy Springs location in the past and loved it - so Breadwinner is always on my radar for soupy season. It has become a habit of grabbing my soup salad and sandwich to go but they do have a large dining area, both indoors and on the covered patio. My favorite soup is their tomato basil bisque and my go-to "salad" is the pesto pasta salad (LOL at least it's green right). Ok jk I also like their lemon poppy kale salad. Definitely my go-to Dunwoody sandwich/soup/salad spot - so go and support local instead of hitting up a nearby chain of similar offerings...!

Cathy P.

Yelp
So fresh, so good! Get the trio lunch and you'll get a half sandwich, soup, and side. This is the best option on the menu! I really enjoy this place! The hardest thing is deciding what to order. And dessert...suggest the brownie!

Amritha J.

Yelp
One of my favorite lunch spots for a quick, healthy and tasty meal. Great variety, hearty meals. I typically go for their lunch combo or a soup and salad at the least.

Dave W.

Yelp
Breadwinner is a winner! All the food is good here. Lots of healthy choices. My normal meal is the lunch special, which you can make with 3 items. The best 3 choices are: 1/2 sandwich, salad, and soup. Today I was not so hungry and got the full "beet and blue" salad (see pic) , which is greens topped with beets and blue cheese. Yummy. Small "grocery store" inside with items to go. Great friendly staff. You order and pick up at the counter. Indoor and outdoor dining. Outdoor is my preference. Lots of free parking too. Located on busy road, so be careful driving here. Slightly expensive but worth it. Eat here if you are in the neighborhood.

Bob D.

Yelp
Rude staff mediocre food- skip this place. First time there today - had high hopes. Have never seen such a rude staff- they need to know they are in the "hospitality industry! Won't be back

Lauren O.

Yelp
Everything was delicious. I loved the Turkey Chili and had a few bites of the chicken pesto panini and that was great too. I wish they had some better roll / bread options to get with the soup if you aren't getting a sandwich. You order in line and get everything on the spot then go to your table with your tray to it. There's also a variety of premade foods and bakery items to take to go as well. Food seemed healthy and high quality - would definitely go back.

Patriciz L.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Perfect for catering parties and take out. Good parking.

Yelp
Decided to run out for lunch today and went to this place for sandwiches. Got the trio since it was our first time there and wanted to try as many things as possible. The egg avocado sandwich was the daily sandwich and it was just okay, as there wasn't much avocado with it, while the healthy slaw and lime chicken soup were plentiful and tasty. My kale salad, cuban sandwich, and tomato basil soup were good. The sandwiches are small, so getting half a sandwich with the trios make the halves look that much smaller. For $13 a trio, I expect the sandwich to be at least 20-30% larger. Looked around at the breads and sweets, and while they looked really good and enticing, they were pretty pricey.

Laura D.

Yelp
To be fair, I stopped by with high expectations because I heard about it and saw their menu and thought, "wow, a lot of that looks delicious." Maybe I just didn't get their best items, but...nothing impressed, and a lot disappointed. I got the lunch trio with the tilapia wrap, pesto pasta, and balsamic orzo and a peanut butter cookie and peach loaf. Peach loaf - for starters, this thing was *tiny*. $3 wouldn't be a bad price at all for a similar food item but at that size? I thought it must be very good to be that expensive...and this is one of the couple of items that actually was good, albeit not great. But it tasted like a good amaretto bread; the flavor of peach wasn't discernible at all. Peanut butter cookie - the Dead Sea called. It wants all its salt back. Pesto pasta - this was the other thing that was good. It was a weird level of good too because pesto is something that is usually either absolutely stunning or really bad. This pesto was better than okay, but not good enough to call great. Tilapia wrap - it had black pepper so I can't judge it fairly. Someone who doesn't hate black pepper might really enjoy it, I have no idea. However, from the few bites I did take the fish tasted way too fishy for tilapia? Which is odd, because tilapia is one of the cheapest fish. It's not like they'd substitute it to cut corners. Balsamic orzo - I could eat this after dumping so much parmesan cheese on top you could barely discern much other than the cheese...look, I know it is meant to be vinegar orzo. I like vinegar. I really do, otherwise I wouldn't have wanted this orzo. But this tastes more vinegary than actual pure vinegar, and I'm not sure how that was achieved. Overall, the people in the restaurant were nice enough, and everything looked very nice but...it was just a huge letdown on all fronts. I expected every single item I ordered to taste better than it did.

Arielle P.

Yelp
This location has so much outdoor seating and very nice & open space. I love Breadwinner for there healthier, but still delicious options for food. There are so many delicious sandwich options, soup options, side and salads! They have a trio option, which is a combo of three of the items mentioned above. I love to eat here with coworkers since it's close to the office, great place to have a conversation, and great food.

Noah B.

Yelp
Restaurant had nice atmosphere and the spread look good, but my food was honestly not good at all and certainly over priced. I got the chicken pesto sandwich, and it was cold and bland- I honestly didn't enjoy a single bite. The sides were alright. Service was fine. Just really unimpressed and felt like a waste of time and money on my Saturday morning.

Jeremy B.

Yelp
This is a great spot to grab lunch. We went for the trio. We had the delicious California turkey wrap with the pesto pasta salad with the turkey chili. Definitely was a good choice & our second meal was the pesto chicken panini & that delicious peach bread. They offer a variety of delicious pastries. . Definitely will have a satisfying meal.

Sranee B.

Yelp
Came here with a friend after kayaking nearby at Morgan Falls! We wanted something fresh and quick and healthy. They have a great lunch special for $12.99! They have multiple combos you can get, but I got a half sandwich (much bigger than I thought), generous portion of salad, and a huge cup of tomato soup. The portions are so big! Everything seemed fresh and was delicious. Their pesto pasta and tomato soup was sooo good! The soup was creamy and thick, and had a lot of seasoning in it. Their pesto panini was also really tasty, though the chicken inside seemed a little dry. We finished our meal with a giant chocolate chip cookie! Definitely check out this place if your in the area!

Jacklyn K.

Yelp
I really like Breadwinner for lunch!! The "Lunch Trio" is such a good deal ($13) and I've really liked all the vegetarian/pescentarian options on the menu. I loveeeee the grilled caprese sandwich, tomatoe basil bisque, and the kale salad. My top 3 for sure. Greek salad also good! The only things I probably wouldn't order again were the tuna melt and the pesto cavatappi pasta salad. The ingredients taste super fresh and good flavor profiles all around.. menu combos seems well thought out. Banana and lemon loaf slices were just OK but the cookies are on my list to try next. They also haven't gotten any of our lengthy office orders wrong which is an accomplishment in itself lately!

Bill G.

Yelp
Excellent very professional take out service. All sandwiches are very good, very good soups somewhat expensive.

Tamara R.

Yelp
Got the turkey chili and tomato soup delivered to me and was so good! Turkey chili could've had more flavor but I loved how the tomato soup was super creamy.

Sid B.

Yelp
Yes, another great addition to Dunwoody. Owner is committed to continually improve. Some things are great, some good First soups-- are best -- Chicken Noodle is our favorite. Breads excellent too. Daughter absolutely loves the Caprese sandwich Wife has had something different each time. She was disappointed with the brisket (Unfortunately, She compared it to Bogartz, but Bogartz is closed now) . She had Corned beef once and the Asian Salmon last night. She likes the other just fine I have had Roast Beef and Corned Beef. Very Good, Owner has worked well to improve consistency since opening at this location, and I commend him for continued improvement Sides are very good, but a bit expensive as most are family sized not individual. Would be better - for us-- if they had individual sized as all three of us get different sides covid pickup at rear door, very helpful, but then you miss the fun of choosing. Customer spacing is good inside and tables inside or covered patio look well organized .

Amanda S.

Yelp
Stopped by while looking for a quick place to grab a sandwich and was surprised by how great this place was! Breadwinner has perfected a covid safe dining area - with a super open eating area at the front, and an enclosed ordering area/kitchen in the back. There are small tabs on every table to designate if it has been cleaned or not, and the employees who are cleaning are very diligent at making sure the table you sit on has been cleaned and sanitized. While entering the enclosed area, it is set up like starbucks/gusto (for the Atlanta people) where you place your order at the beginning of the line and then scoot your way down to the end where you get your food and pay. They have specials for lunch and dinner everyday, with a different item as part of the special depending on the day. When I went on a Saturday, it was a brisket sandwich, which I ordered. The brisket sandwich came with a side - options include kale salad, broccoli, side salad, pesto pasta, and chips, and they all looked pretty great from the window. I wasn't feeling something healthy that day so I got the chips which were generic, but I'm excited to go back and try something actually made in the kitchen as a side. The sandwich was delicious! The brisket was super juicy and flavorful, and I loved the sauce they used for the sandwich. Overall, I really enjoyed Breadwinner and I think it's been a great addition to the busy dunwoody shopping center that it is located in.

Lynn M.

Yelp
Really the best Tomato basil soup ever. Sandwiches.... Now what you pick .....fresh and yummy. I have never been anything else but impressed. Enjoy!

Dewey H.

Yelp
This is an awesome local business I first discovered it at the Works food court of Chattahoochee Avenue and then again at the Dunwoody location. Both experiences were high-quality. the Dunwoody location is larger of course and has many homemade soups and salads that you can buy to take home already made. The turkey chili is amazing. I mainly go for the soups and salads as I'm trying to stay away from the breads and deli meats. The sandwiches look amazing although I've never had them. Overall five star rating for this local business!

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite lunch spots! When you enter, they have a variety of pre packed lunches, sides, and snacks you can grab or order from the counter. They also have a wide assortment of baked goods like different loafs and cookies. For lunch, you can pick from sandwiches, proteins, soups, and a variety of sides. My favorite is the trio. You can pick many combination of items but my go to is half a sandwich, a side, and a soup. Everything I've had has been great! The pizzawich sandwich, roast beef, Cuban, and wraps have all been delicious. Their soups are always great as well- the tomato soup is my favorite! And the sides... the kale salad is my go-to but they have a ton of great healthy options. They don't skimp on the portions too! You get a generous heap of whatever sides you pick. The services is always great here too - everyone is always super friendly. This is just the perfect spot for a nice, healthy lunch. They also have a location in Sandy Springs. Check it out!

Derick M.

Yelp
In town for a few hours stopped here for lunch..best meal I've had in a LONG time tuna melt, orzo and tomato basil soup we're all top notch. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Sara S.

Yelp
This place is a new addition to Dunwoody . One can visit this place without worrying about parking. This is a Good place to visit during covid era because of their open and airy seating arrangement. I saw a guy standing at the entrance sanitizing tables and offering sanitizer. Directions are well marked for minimum interaction. I felt safe when I visited this place. Given the name I expected a huge array of breads here as I also feel a good bread place is missing in our Dunwoody. I wanted to see fresh sourdough bread, focaccia, ciabatta, sandwich bread, croissant, etc but this is more of a place for soup, salad and sandwich. So if ur looking for something like this, you should defiantly visit. However I did see few cookies, sweet cake loafs (sweet bread) being sold. There was banana bread, orange bread, lemon seed bread. I picked up their banana bread which was ok in texture, subtle flavor, a little dense but still delicious. However that small loaf costed 18$ which for me is too expensive. Just the price point would stop me from going there. I would buy a lot more if the price point was lower.

Bill H.

Yelp
Disappointed to say the least. $17.26 for two bowls of soup. Not to mention, the Brunswick stew is completely flavorless and it had a big chunk of chicken fat floating on top. Head somewhere else.

Kenny H.

Yelp
Ordered a selection of soups, both hot and cold quarts and have to say I'm blown away at the quality. The ingredients used are fresh and not the frozen vegetable variety. The flavors were rich and complex, even for a simple soup such as chicken noodle. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again. The soups were loaded with chicken and could easily make a meal they were so filling and satisfying. I've had Breadwinner's baked goods before and was impressed but today I'm happy to add them to our list of lunch and dinner spots.

Miguel R.

Yelp
Highly recommend their basil tomato soup! Their chocolate chip cookies are also amazing. Very friendly staff

Michael M.

Yelp
Very tasty and fresh food. The chicken and rice soup is my go to. My wife likes the trio with okra and tomato soup.

Jessica R.

Yelp
This cafe is my FAVORITE place to eat in Dunwoody! The customer service is AMAZING and you can tell they really care about their customers. The food is delicious and homemade. The chicken pesto sandwich is the best I've ever had, the chicken noodle soup has so much flavor and is also the best I've ever had. The homemade cookies are amazing especially the heath bar cookie. Definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area!!

Fred J.

Yelp
Not sure what's going on with this restaurant. When it first opened we were excited to go there, and they seemed to be excited to have us. Always good food, good service, fair prices. The last two times I've been in there it's as though they don't want me to come in the door. Two weeks back I could barely get somebody to help me at the counter, but eventually they did. Although they had a bit of an attitude. So today I Stopped in to pick up a few cookies, there is no one to be seen in the dining room. No help out on the floor, no help behind the counter. I could hear voices in the back, but for the five minutes I stood there not a employee came out.I left the cookies I've gathered up on the counter and walked out. Not sure if I'm gonna go back unless they significantly improve, hopefully back to the level of service they were giving a year ago.

Mo K.

Yelp
This was quite disappointing. Some of the food is good, but it is overpriced for what you get. I got half a chicken salad sandwich for $6, and it was very small. It was literally an extra small ice cream scoop of chicken salad between wheat bread and wilty lettuce. Didn't even take the time to spread it out. Doesn't seem like they care very much about making a great sandwich and giving a good value for their food.

Jazmine C.

Yelp
My new favorite lunch spot! Portions are great, food tastes amazing. Everyone is friendly. I'm glad I found this gem.

Bree C.

Yelp
Good: The food is good. They have a fun menu with lots of yummy options! I love the basil pesto orzo salad, so good! Bad: This location is new-ish and I think they are still working out kinks. We have placed large lunch orders for our office (like 12-16 people) two separate times. The first time, they left off an order and I noticed it was printed towards the bottom of the page so I could kind of see how they missed it. But when we called to make things right, the only solution they had to offer was me driving back to pick up the salad they missed. In my professional opinion, if you make a mistake it shouldn't be on the customer to fix the mistake. I was pretty frustrated with the way they handled the situation. A couple months past and we decided to give them another try... they did the same thing, left multiple things out of the order and did nothing to fix their mistake. I actually spoke to one of the managers and asked how the items got left off and she said there was some confusion around the item and they tried to call me and I didn't answer, what I didn't understand is why didn't anyone ask me about it or notify me in person when I went in to pick up the order? I am not impressed and I won't be eating here again. I like their other location much better.

Marian M.

Yelp
This new Breadwinner Café @ Bakery is located where Wright Gourmet ( I know we missed them and their rum cake) used to be. In the Shopping Center of J Christopher's is. There breads are one of a kind. Their chicken and tuna salad is good as their Pimiento Cheese. They have daily lunch specials .This is a great addition to Dunwoody.

Katie E.

Yelp
This place is phenomenal ! Food is amazing as well as the staff. Especially shout out to the amazing Manager Diana for saving the day. Uber Eats accidentally brought us the wrong to go order. Diana drove our order all the way to our house under 30 mins of the phone call to make sure we had what we asked for. She goes above and beyond! Thank you so much. This sick household was very very appreciated! Food is so fresh and delicious . Haven't tried anything I didn't like. Highly recommend this place

Nathan L.

Yelp
I'm a pimento cheese snob. This is the best pimento cheese I've ever had. Turkey rueben is pretty great also!!

Nancy M.

Yelp
Very disappointed in the sandwiches we ordered. While their website states that the food is made fresh daily I find that hard to believe. The bread on my sandwich was hard and the tomatoes were soggy. It looked and tasted like one of those pre made sandwiches at the airport. My husband's sandwich was supposed to be hot off the pannini press, but could not see any typical pannni press marks and it wasn't hot. This experience really made us miss Wrights Gourmet Sandwiches. Breadwinner's quality pales in comparison. Will not be visiting again. Not worth the money.

Barbara M.

Yelp
This place is amazing. One of a kind. The food tastes like homemade. The owners obviously put a lot of love into everything they do. So nice to have a place to go during Covid. Tables are spaced apart and the patio is good too. You can take prepackaged food home to heat up there which is a huge convenience. Especially the variety of soups. So many fun things to try. Looking forward to going back.

J H.

Yelp
Very cute seating area inside. Lots to choose from, I got the Grilled Chicken Pesto Panini. I am a picky eater and this was yummy. Kinda pricey but still delicious.
