Nice cafe for brunch. Really delicious breakfast, lunch, and Mediterranean food. Lots of fresh, healthy, gluten free, and vegan options. My only complaint is there was cilantro on my sandwich without warning. I would have asked to leave it off if I had known. I had to scrape it off to eat the sandwich.

Regardless you're looking for breakaway time from the crowd or meeting up with someone else, this cafe might be a great spot to stop by. It's quite packed during peak hours in the weekend, and despite quite many seats were available, I'd say most tables were made more to accommodate smaller groups up to 3-4 people. The service was swift despite the busy time. It's great that they made people ordering then sit and wait for the orders to be delivered to the table, avoiding long lines crowding the space. I tried one of their favorite dishes, Brie and Jam croissant, which you could even go extra by adding bacon. It was totally simple pleasure for me, as the sweet and savory mix was so enjoyable, besides every single ingredient came in generous portion as the pic could tell.

The Baseline: For a Breakfast Cafe they must have quality eggs (preparation/product), coffee must be good (roast quality/flavor), baked/pastry/bread products must be flavorful, reasonable wait/service time, and existence of uncommon combinations. Food: The food is excellent and exceeds the Baseline. My eggs were prepared over easy and had a silky, smooth cooked exterior and the yolks were the right amount of runny. The toast was properly crisp and properly soft on the inner bread, recommend the sourdough. I had the drip coffee which was flavorful and the beans used smelled/tasted properly roasted. I also had the shakshuka which is a little more common in LA but not everywhere so they had some uncommon offerings (also the breakfast burrito bread pudding and Muesli look interesting to try on future visits. Service: It did take a little longer for us to get seated on the day we came but that was a weekend around 10am. Once we ordered and were seated the service was excellent. My water glass was not empty and the staff were friendly. Ambiance: This is a nicely decorated cafe in the walkable section of Culver City across the street from Helms Bakery shopping area. The cafe was busy and had a good vibe with other patrons enjoying a good breakfast on a weekend. Overall I will come back when the opportunity arises.

They win French toast!! I have never had French toast this great in a restaurant!! You know how the batter has to soak in? Yes! They got that right! The batter flavor saturated the Brioche! I chose to nix the sweet cream cheese but the blueberry compote was so subtle and delicious! It had perfectly crispy edges too! It was a huge serving but it didn’t come with anything else. It was filling but I do like some protein in the mix, without having to pay to add it. The staff was cordial. I will go back when I have a craving for French toast!

This cafe has utterly delightful lavender matchas. It is sweet but not too sweet while having a satisfying texture. If you get the iced version, make sure you stir because the syrup is at the bottom. Now the food (the sausage biscuit and chicken noodle soup) is on the other end of the spectrum- I found it to be heavy and very lacking in seasoning. The biscuit sausage was particularly disappointing given that the cashier said it was a popular weekend item only. The sausage felt like something you find from a microwaved Jimmy dean sausage sandwich. Meanwhile the biscuit was initially nice but really got mushy after several bites. Everything you see in this image ended up being $65 after tax and tip. The venue is in a cute location but next time I would go back for the drinks only.

Amazing breakfast with top coffee. I had the Avocado tartine with 3 fried eggs and a cortado. Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and very friendly staff 🥰

Cozy food spot across from the Helms Design District with amazing friendly staff and service! I ordered the breakfast sandwich along with a seasonal iced coffee--both were excellent. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon was thick and substantial, and everything was tied together with a delicious aioli. The soft bun paired beautifully with the fluffy scrambled eggs and the savory bite of the bacon. I've also tried their lunch, and the roasted potatoes are so good. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to! PS - they also have a punch card for beverages!

cute brunch spot in culver city, great for a quick bite :) i got the shakshuka and loved the bread, it was perfectly toasted and went great with the tomato sauce. i appreciated that the eggs were actually runny as well! unfortunately felt that the tomato sauce was underseasoned, i would've appreciated more depth since i think it was lacking compared to other shakshukas i've had. this kind of just tasted like canned tomato with some spice, i was overloading on hot sauce here. more realistically a 3.5 star review but i would also look into trying the brie jam croissant

What to Get/Not to Get: The Salted Maple Matcha tasted healthy like drinking sweet grass. The hot Pumpkin Spice Latte is a must get option, and actually may have been strong with caffeine as I felt energetic. The Sausage Breakfast Burrito was subtle in flavor, so it may be hard to recommend for some. Customer Service: Very good. Pay first, and they'll bring your drinks/food to you after. Bus your own table after Price: Approximately $32.60, not including tip for 2 people Ambience: Indoor/Outdoor Seating. Good place to read and/or study too Overall: Good Experience

Located across the street from the Helms Design District, this cafe has a bustling and vibrant breakfast atmosphere. We just got drinks, and I ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk ($7.25). Our drinks were prepared quickly. My latte had a nice balance of matcha and milk; neither overpowered each other. There wasn't seating inside for two, so we just had our drinks at the Helms Design District because there was nice outdoor patio furniture. The ambience outside is calming and great for hanging out or reading a book.

We loved our food. I had the BLAT with crispy potatoes and my daughter had the breakfast burrito. Service was fast and the employees were really nice. I wasn't expecting our food to be ready so fast but it came out hot and fresh. There are plenty of tables for dine in, I saw a lot of people working while eating- I assume work or school because they had their laptops out. Not a loud place and very comfortable. Metered street parking, I didn't see a parking lot. Prices are reasonable.

Wow! Amazing food. The bacon was perfectly cooked and good quality. Bread fresh baked, raspberry jam incredible. And the crispy fingerling potatoes, omg! Will definitely come again!

My experience for lunch at this cafe was so so. We split 2 sandwiches, one was a pulled chicken with pesto on ciabatta; the other a turkey sandwich with alfalfa sprouts & avocado. For both sandwiches, the ciabatta bread was pretty flat, not crispy on the outside, and lacked flavor as well. Considering it's a $20 sandwich I expected a bit better. The pulled chicken was very very dry and then to compensate it was overly saturated in a mayo-y pesto. Not the best. The turkey sandwich was similarly bland. One thing I did really like was their side of crispy potatoes. They were super crisp on the outside and soft & fluffy inside. Perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of salt. Funny enough I think that was the star of the dish. You also have to bus your own dishes. Was not necessarily expecting that and especially considering 2 sandwiches and 2 coffees costs $50. They have limited seating both indoor and outdoor. The food did come out pretty quickly so I was grateful for that.

Culver City is a Mecca of amazing places to eat and drink and Breakaway Cafe definitely stands out on the the list as one of the best places to score amazing coffee, food and friendly customer service. Stopped by here on a weekday morning and the place was packed. I scored an outside table and was craving one of their amazing breakfast sandwiches. After ordering from the counter, I grabbed my table marker, some cutlery and water at the self-service station and planted myself on one of the half dozen outside seats on Washington overlooking Helms. Within 19 minutes, a nice young man brought out my order, a Breakfast Sammy with Mushrooms. One of the crowd favorites, this sando brought some serious taste bud satisfaction. Soft Scrambled Eggs, Aged Cheddar, Garlic Aioli, Mushrooms and a Brioche Bun. Simple but full of flavor. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and hot, blended with delicious cheddar and one of the best aiolis I have tried. The bun was slightly crispy on the outside and soft in the center, holding the ingredients firm with each bite. Pick up some extra napkins, you will need them as things can get a little wild and messy. Light and Bright indoor decor, complete with table and booth seating options and a well-kept gender-neutral bathroom for patrons. There is plenty of street parking on any of the several residential streets nearby. Breakaway Cafe is owned and operated by two dedicated brothers to serve up simple, delicious food and drinks with a casual and comfortable "elevated coffeehouse" flare. Check out this gem the next time you are in Culver City.

Nice cozy place. Food was good but the coffee is even better . I ordered the burger with salad and my husband ordered a plate with boiled eggs drenched in some type of sauce. It was delish!

On a rainy day in Culver City, meeting my producing partner and wanting to be close to home, we went here. Love the vibe and the waitstaff is lovely. It is dog friendly and there was a beautiful border collie lying next to me that was ready to get scratched and snuggled. The power of petting an animal, especially a dog is a healing and comforting experience! So sweet this boy Roger was!!! The food is delicious and really cheap for what you get! I had two eggs over easy potatoes, toast, and bacon for 15 bucks. We were there for 2 hours and we had our important meeting together, received a lot of dog love and had great repasts! Highly recommended especially because it's super close to home and part of our Culver City Community! 5 yummy stars ;)

A review long overdue for a spot that truly deserves the praise. I first stumbled upon Breakaway Cafe while working in the Helms Bakery District in Culver City, and I've been drawn back ever since. The location is unbeatable--right across from Helms Bakery--and the staff? Absolutely stellar. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. This time, I went for the Shakshuka. As someone who's picky about eggs and a die-hard tomato lover, I'm not easily impressed. But Breakaway nailed it. Perfectly seasoned, fresh, and full of flavor. It's rare to find this dish on menus, and even rarer to find it done right. Their menu is refreshingly minimal, which to me screams quality and freshness. I'd take a tight, well-curated selection over a 10-page catalog any day. Less is more, and Breakaway gets that. I paired my meal with a cold brew--smooth and bold--and it was the perfect combo. If you're in the area and want great coffee and a thoughtfully crafted bite, Breakaway Cafe is a must. It's the kind of place that earns your loyalty with every visit.

space was a bit cramped, not ideal for a big group. three of us sat at a separate table. food was decent but nothing fantastic. chilaquiles i got were absolutely not worth the $20 paid (with tax.) it wasn't bad, just not worth $20. wish i could have tried my friends' dishes so i can better opine on a wider breadth of food options offered. sadly, i don't think i'll be returning unless it's for another group venture.

Great food with great prices and prompt but friendly service. I love their breakfast burritos and their breakfast sandwiches are good too. It's no frills but the food is flavorful and the quality is there. The interior is bright, clean, and welcoming. It's a place that is nice to enjoy a leisurely coffee and breakfast while reading the news or working on your laptop. They have wifi and ample seating as well. I'll be back again when I'm in the area.

Great hidden gem in Culver City. A friend and I were looking for somewhere to grab brunch after our workout, and I found this gem on yelp. They had good reviews which peaked my interest so we decided to give it a try. Food was excellent, and the service was good. Food was fresh, and the portions were good for the value. It's an order first, and you take a number and they bring you food to the table. Will defiantly be visiting again, and recommend to family and friends.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon around 12:30pm with a couple friends. You order at the counter and then pick your own seat - it's pretty busy on Saturdays but luckily a table was finishing up as we just got done ordering. I got the breakfast burrito and the vegan butternut squash soup. I LOVED the soup, it was very light, and honestly paired so nicely with my burrito (even though that wasn't necessarily the intention). The breakfast burrito had a perfect cheese pull and I was glad I opted to not add meat to it because that would've been a little too heavy for me. I thought the ambiance for the cafe was really nice. It wasn't too loud and there was nice music playing, but the music was the perfect volume to be able to still have a conversation. For my soup, burrito, and my boyfriend's burger (not pictured) + a drink, I spent a little over $44 (not including tip). There's ample parking in the area as well so it was breeze to get there.

Great spot near downtown culver! Simple breakfast and lunch menu with coffee options. Really enjoyed the breakfast sandwich with the biscuit and aioli! They also have condiments (hot sauce) to take to your table to use. Very nice staff! A good amount of tables inside and a few outside. Street parking available (metered).

i noticed this spot across the way while hanging out near helms plaza and decided to check it out today the service was friendly - you order and take your number to a desired table. inside is pleasantly decorated - it exudes the la hip - there's plenty of seating outside and maybe 4 tables outside - we sat outside to enjoy the sunshine today we got the sesame crunch salad and biscuit sausage sandwich. they also offered the bottle of hot sauce and tapatio the hot sauce in the squeeze bottle was so good - it has the tang but not too spicy - goes perfectly well with the sandwich the sandwich was delicious!! the sausage in it was soft and juicy, egg was perfectly cooked, and sufficiently cheesy biscuit was exceptional imo. dry but also soft and had enough lamination. the salad was good enough to where i wanted to go home and replicate it. the only thing i would request would be - go a bit easier on the dressing. next time i will ask the dressing on the side. i loved all the ingredients in the salad - there was dill, cilantro, napa cabbage (loved that it's not just regular cabbage), kale, shredded carrots, scallions, sesame seeds, cashews, and peanuts - it's a varied amount of things in there!! i will be back next time to try the brie croissant with jam - i was eyeing that for next time!!! also to note! breakfast is served all day here! woot

The breakfast burrito with bacon was pretty large and at a price I expected it to be. I felt like the ratios were great and the salsa was a nice pairing! I'll have to come by another time to try the other food items on their menu!

What a lovely gem of a spot in the Arts District of Culver City! I picked up a breakaway grains salad from the cafe and was pleasantly surprised at how large it is, so for the price the value is quite good as I can see myself eating this over at least 2 meals! The quality of the produce is fresh and the egg was perfectly cooked to 7 minute perfection. Lots of grains that come with the salad, fresh hummus and a perfectly just slightly tart lemon vinaigrette goes so well with the salad. Service was fast because I ordered online but I could see when I arrived that there are plenty of tables and also a fast moving line at lunchtime.

We stopped by this place for lunch during the Great LA Walk on November 23, 2024. We were starving by then, and Breakaway Cafe has many healthy options to satiate our appetite. Breakfast burrito is a thing here, but I ordered a bowl of salad and grains. The ingredients were fresh and tasted great. The portion was substantial, and it sustained me for the remaining 8 miles of the walk. It was not immediately obvious that we had to order at the counter, but the staff did bring the food out to us. We didn't have to wait long, and the outdoor area allowed our friend with his dog to sit with us.

Really good vibe in there! The male cashier at the time we went was very friendly. I ordered a black coffee and they accidentally served me an iced tea (delicious) and the cashier was super friendly and gave me a new coffee right away. The black iced coffee is pretty strong. I ordered the Shakshuka and it was really good!!

Grabbed some breakfast burritos with some friends before going on an adventure for the day along with an almond milk matcha and 100% will be back. I got the bacon breakfast burritos and am a sucker for tater tots in my breakfast burritos. The burrito is loaded and a full meal. Customer service upon pickup was great and I will definitely be back. Just be mindful there is a good bit of seating but this place will fill up on the weekends.

Food was delicious! Portion for the Egg plate was surprisingly generous especially for the price and the burrito was filling! The staff was very nice and funny. If you're looking for a good neighborhood bite, this would be your place.

Looked up places to eat for breakfast before we headed out of LA to go home. Breakaway had great reviews, so we decided to check it out. When we walked in, I thought it was sort of a local "Starbucks" You order from the counter, and they had a lot of morning drinks. I was afraid the menu might be the same of heating up frozen food, but it was not. It appeared all their entrees were made to order. My husband ordered the Egg Plate, and I had the Shakshuka. My husband enjoyed his meal. As for my Shakshuka, it was outstanding! So much flavor.. definitely worth going back for... Now the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars. Let me begin by saying that I'm an animal lover. Our dog travels everywhere with us most times. She was not with us on this trip. Two women came in with a mid-size dog and ordered. However they did not take it to go, nor did they eat outside. They ate inside where not only did they feed the dog their food, but the dog also jumped up onto the bench to eat off the table. None of the workers said anything, and I could tell the couple next to them were uncomfortable. I'm curious how often this happens, because since you bus your own table, nothing is being sanitized every time someone leaves their table.

My sister found this place and I was very glad she did. Everything we ordered was delicious. Matcha n pistachio tartine: wasn't sure what to expect but the flavors surprisingly complemented well. Healthy, simple, flavorful, yummy brunch! Makes you feel like you're sitting in a cafe by the beach. Our food came out quickly and I was a huge fan of the pesto chicken sandwich (didn't finish the potatoes though, they were a bit dry). My friend's shakshuka was delicious with the bread. I would come back for the sandwich.

This place was a Culver City gem. Can't believe I've never heard of it. It's a small industrial cafe with beachy vibes and a gender neutral restroom It's clean and has good service. Great meet up or solo space to enjoy their menu filled with a variety of breakfast items or their tasty beverages. It's pretty self serve and no table service so if you're looking to get catered to, this is not the spot for you. My tea and Sammy's breakfast sandwich cost a total of $22.88 so a bit on the pricey side. I did add avocado and mushrooms which was an up charge. They also refilled my tea with hot water for no extra charge and the tea was potent every time so it was definitely high quality tea packed with flavor. I'll definitely be back. Came to fuel my day and was a little bit frustrating they don't accept cash. The food was delicious. A bit pricey for avocado toast and dirty chai but with inflation not totally shocking. If I'm in the area would likely return.

service was nice, space felt like a calm neighborhood space. i got the shakshuka because it's a dish i always like, but i was really disappointed! it was very watery, the eggs were fully cooked (as opposed to being runny and gooey), the chunks of tomato were large and hard to bite through the skin, and there wasn't much tahini to look at or taste. the sausage biscuit that my friend got looked nice and he said it was good. my other friend's order was forgotten about though.

Food was great! We shared a breakfast burrito. The sauce that came with it was yummy! I think it casa avocado based. Drinks in point. Chai latte great ! The matcha little to strong and very muddy looking. But friend said it was good. A hidden hen! Glad we came out to try. Service with a smile. Ambiance was ok could use a little plants maybe some pillows. But was nice.

I liked this place, I didn't love it. They have a small, but adequate menu, the gal behind the counter was definitely helpful enough to decide what to get. I went with the breakfast sandwich with mushrooms. Again, wasn't bad, but wasn't very flavorful, just seemed bland. She did mention the burrito is a popular choice, so I think I may go back and order it. It's a small venue with some outdoor seating. I'm not won over on this place, but the fact that the burrito is a crowd favorite may change my opinion.

Their mushroom breakfast burrito THICK AND HEARTY! I called in my order, got there and was unfortunately stuck behind a group of like 6 folks ordering everything including the kitchen sink. It felt like forever, they had one register and one person, no pick up line ( understandable, people probably don't order pick up as much) but the line got so long people were steady coming in but the lady at the counter never told the big group " hey go ahead and grab your seats AFTER you order". They were all their just taking space for no reason. That was the most frustrating part especially since I had to literally wait for an order that was already made. Probably should figure out a better system. Everybody was rolling their eyes for sure!! Burrito was good JAM PACKED with mushrooms, cheese, potatoes and eggs. Nice size portion but came with the tiniest amount of salsa that was barely half filled. Shame shame shame, $17 burrito and 5 cents worth of salsa. Metered parking right outside.

Popular spot for breakfast burritos and a chill vibe. Came here for brunch after a workout with my friend. You order and pay at the counter, and then pick up your drink when your name is called. Self service water and utensil station is available on the right hand side of the counter. One single occupant restroom available. Small parking lot available otherwise there's metered street parking. I opted to add mushrooms to my breakfast burrito, which were nicely sautéed and added some pop of flavor. The hash browns were very crispy and there were mild salsas/Tapatio available for extra flavor. My matcha latte came unsweetened so I didn't love it, but my friend liked her vanilla latte.

This is a quietCafé. If you are looking for a place to get some work done or have a chat with friends. This is the place. There is seating inside and outside. They have Tuesdays deals. This is a non cash cafe. QR code ordering is available. The service was fast and friendly. There is a small parking lot to the east of the cafe or street meter parking is available.

The salad was delicious, healthy, and grounding. Thank you so much, Jackson and Frannie, for your excellent service--you both went the extra mile, and truly deserve a pay raise soon. Relaxing ambiance and a great spot for study time with a power outlet. God bless!

Staff were perfect vibe for waking up on a friday needing some coffee! i got the breakfast burrito and split with my friend and his pesto sandwich. We swapped half's and was completely satisfied! The side of potatoes were my absolute fave! Vanilla iced latte also hit the spot! location is great, easy to find a parking spot! No complaints. Give em a try.

This coffee shop gives off good energy. The place is clean and feels fresh inside. The service was good and the coffee was ok, but for the price of 3 items the total wasn't bad so I'm not complaining. I definitely see myself coming back soon

Who knew this place was around the corner from my usual work out area. Food was tasty, respectful and pleasant staff. Location is cute and feels so relaxing. I would come here again when in the area. Not to mention the lattes were so good and comforting.

Food was fantastic. We ordered the burger and Mediterranean sando. Both hit the spot. Exactly what we wanted. Service was friendly and helpful. Ambiance is airy, lots of sunlight. Outdoor and indoor seating. You feel like the beach is right outside. Relaxing space. Love it here.
