Breakers Cafe

Tried Breakers Cafe this morning and loved it. The breakfast burrito was super tasty and filling, exactly what I was looking for. Gonzalo, the owner, is really friendly and makes you feel welcome. Also, the latte was amazing, probably the best I’ve had in a long time. Definitely planning to come back.

The place feels so nostalgic. This place is a diner and a cafe mixed into one. There are a lot of pictures and the drinks are great. Remind me of a western 1980s bar. I ordered the ice mocha and it was delicious. The people here speak Spanish. Lovely bunch of people!

Today was my first time here and I ordered a bacon cheeseburger ($18.75) with a side of coleslaw. The burger was pretty good but the coleslaw was too sweet for my tastes. The service however, was great with the staff being exceptionally friendly and pleasant. The place appeared very clean and there are lovely woodland murals on the wall. Although there quite a few senior citizens there, there were also young families, so a decent mix of customers. Overall, it was a pleasant atmosphere and the prices are in line with other Bay Area eateries.

Good food, friendly service, plus, you can catch up on world events on Fox News. We were there on a very busy news day, so this was an added bonus. They have genuine Coke products here, no need to bring one from home. The only negative is that they close crazy early, (2 PM).

The service is amazing! They are friendly and personable! Every time I come in, they greet me with a friendly hello. The food is amazing, especially their chicken-fried steak. They also make great lattes! I highly recommend Breakers Cafe!!

Nice breakfast cafe nestled in a large shopping center. Food was tasty and portions big. The biscuits and gravy were very good. Staff was friendly and attentive. Drinks were a little expensive but refills are free so drink up 😀. Murals are whimsical. And great conversation starter.

Amazing food! Get the huevos rancheros and chilaquiles. Speedy service and amazing iced lattes. Wish they have fresh orange juice tho.

Great place! We got the chilaquiles and huevos rancheros, both were delicious. I also got the zebra mocha which was amazing. I expressed concern before ordering it with how sweet it would be, and the barista reassured me that it wouldn't be too sweet, and then checked in with me again to confirm it wasn't too sweet after leaving it with me for five minutes. The staff was attentive and courteous, and very quick to grab anything we requested. Ambiance was great, I loved the mural that covered one of the walls, and really enjoyed the warm feel to the place!

We three great friends came from San Jose and San Francisco to meet for brunch. Great menu! We were all very pleased with our entrees, Mochas, and loved our attentive waitress...wonderful experience. Before we even walked out the door - we know we had found our place (Cheers!) and we would be back -again - soon! Next time. will order a To Go item , too!

Breakers Cafe is nestled in the middle of the Woodside shopping plaza... easy to miss if you aren't looking for it! Once you wander inside, you'll be greeted by the very friendly staff and quickly enamored with the hand painted art that graces the walls. Breaker's menu has a delightful variety of foods and drinks, so the options to tickle your tastebuds are only limited by your imagination! Each dish is full of flavor and made hot to order. I really only have two main gripes about this place. Firstly, I've visited a total of 3 times and each time I have come in, I find the portions to seem smaller and smaller. I shouldn't be leaving feeling hungry for the price point of each dish. Secondly, although the staff is extremely friendly, I've noticed at least twice (two out of three visits) we've had to repeatedly ask to get something brought to the table... Most recently, I asked for vanilla creamer for my coffee three times over the span of a 20 minute period when we were only one of three occupied tables in the whole restaurant. Yikes. All in all, I do enjoy coming to Breakers but I'm starting to debate if it's truly the best bang for my buck.

First of all, this is the gathering place for many of the area's senior citizens and many of the diners are regulars who enjoy the place. I was here once before and had a burger that was decent but I decided to try breakfast this time was it seems to be their specialty. The menu has several Mexican inspired dishes but I decided to stay basic just in case I didn't appreciate the sauces so went with scrambled eggs, hash and hash browned potatoes. Everything was dry and tasteless. To be honest, my only experience with hash is the stuff that comes out of the can but this just seemed to be flattened shredded meat with a hint of sausage seasoning. The hash brown potatoes were flavorless and not particularly crisp. The eggs were passable. Honestly, I prefer Dennys. This visit was quite a disappointment but the staff was great.

This is one of the better breakfast spots in Redwood City. Chicken fried steak with crispy hashbrowns was delicious. The steak packed a lot of flavor and the gravy added delight to every bite. I added a pancake, but I was sadly disappointed with it compared to the other items. It wasn't light and fluffy, so I would not order it again. Not shown was the white toast, which was extra toasted and buttery. I ate it all because it was the first item to arrive and I was very hungry. I would ask for lightly toasted if I were to order again. The breakfast sandwich was nicely assembled. It had nice flavor and the bread tasted like it was an upgrade compared to the white toast that came with the chicken fried steak. The fruits provided a refreshing ending to the meal. This place can get very busy for breakfast. Service was attentive and quick. Ambiance is casual.

Service and Food were great. Rating is due to blasting Fox "News" into my face during my first visit here. The station is proven in court that they are not reporting factual information and are stated to be entertainment that no reasonable viewer would take as truth. This business chooses to dump this garbage onto the public while employing 100% immigrant staff. I won't be back

Favorite White Chocolate Mocha around, love popping into this place any chance I get. Their breakfast options are all incredible but the FrenchToast is my favorite by far. Thick and with that perfect sugary glaze, a must order if your into sweet breakfasts!! There always so kind and fast service too, love this little gem in Redwood

Delicious food every time we have come. The omelets and scrambles are all good plus the portions are generous. Always a go-to place when we are in RWC. The service was also very good and cozy place to eat.

This place used to be the "go-to" for breakfast in the area. The staff we very nice, the food was good, and the atmosphere was inviting. A few months ago, I stopped going there after three bad experiences in a row. The food was cold, the staff was less than attentive, and my orders were incorrect. I often order a pancake on the side - but either it didn't show up at all, or at the end of the meal when I was already done. I haven't been back since. Too bad.

Wow, I moved here two years ago and always as curious to eat here. I am glad my friend wanted breakfast. Omelet was perfect, better than, it was not over cooked. Not oily. I had to corn beef and hash with hash browns and it was perfect. Now this will be my am meeting spot!

Sorry Breakers Cafe, as much as I like you and your team when we visit your cafe bi-weekly (rain or shine) to dine-in (outdoors), I am going to have to give you a one star for an extremely disappointing eat out/to-go experience via DoorDash. When you are sick at home with COVID, and you haven't been able to eat much of anything for over 5+ days, except for a piece of toast just so that you have something to line your stomach in preparation to taking OTC acetaminophen or ibuprofen. And finally, that moment when you finally feel 90% yourself, and the first craving you have for food is a Huevos Rancheros. Because you want to continue to stay isolated for the sake of others - you decided to order from Breakers Cafe via DoorDash. You're excited for the moment when your food arrives at the door taking into considering what you've been going through the last several days, you hear your Dasher at the door, meal now in-hand, ready to dig in, you open your to-go order box, only to see your Huevos Rancheros does not include their specialty sauce, and all of the toppings! Whomp Whomp. What a Debbie Downer. I beg to ask the question, is this the type of customer service provided by Breakers when you make a decision to order out? I certainly hope this to not be the case because the food quality should always remain the same irrespective of whether it's a dine-in or dine-out experience. I'll admit, with every dine-in experience,, how the Huevos Rancheros is made is not consistent, but at least all of the ingredient's that make up their Huevos Ranchos is there.

Breakers Cafe allows UNLEASHED DOGS inside the restaurant. When I was there, a couple carrying a little dog asked to sit right next to the kitchen & was seated there without a word. The dog sat on the booth furniture. The little dog was not a handicapped assistance dog -- I asked the couple (who ignored me) & the Breakers Mgr. said they just allow all dogs. (I'm disabled & have a dog, but wouldn't bring her inside a restaurant -- I would sit outside & the dog would go on the pavement, not the furniture. Now there are several other restaurants to choose from at Woodside Plaza, so think about it.

This is definitely a great neighborhood spot. The food is great and the service is wonderful. I have been here several times when visiting the area and have not been disappointed. They offer great choices for Breakfast and lunch. Sawon and the team are always professional and attentive to our needs during our visit. I definitely would recommend you try this place if you are in Redwood City area.

Had the eggs bendict, It was really good! The Holliandaise sause was really good as well! The only down fall was the server never refilled my coffee and never came back to ask us if everything was ok! That was a little disappointing! The 3 stars is for the amazing food, As far as service the servers should always come back and refill your coffee and at least check on you once, The only time we saw her was when she came to drop off the check 15 minutes after receiving the food :(

Good solid diner food. Great and accommodating staff. Very accommodating for a large group including kids. Try the chili dog !!!

i've been to this cafe a handful times, since it's super convenient to where i live. they open for breakfast & lunch only, 0700-1400, but breakfast is served all day! during the pandemic, they had socially distanced indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. the staff was always good about wearing masks and being very careful not to touch any of the guests, which is often tricky when picking up plates, refilling water glasses, etc. covid precautions aside, service was always very good, in fact, once i had a party of 8-10 friends and we had 2 servers wait on us, and they were super efficient in taking our orders and bringing our food out promptly. i definitely feel like i'm welcomed as a long-time customer and friend when i dine here. as for the food, i've only ever come for breakfast/brunch, so the only items i've ordered are the breakers' special (artichoke/avocado/tomato/mushroom) or veggie delight omelet (mixed veggies, chef's choice). these come with sides of potatoes and toast. my food has always tasted great and the portion size is very hearty, especially since i almost always come here after a run or hike so i'm pretty hungry when i arrive! i often have to get a takeout box b/c i can't finish the hefty side of potatoes! note that you can also swap out potatoes for fruit and request egg whites for healthier alternatives. the bathroom is a little bit far from the main dining area, you have to exit through the kitchen (which feels a little odd) and go through the rear hallway before you arrive, but it's accessible and tidy. there is usually parking right in front of the cafe, and if not, there is plentiful parking in the woodside plaza shopping center, which is shared with lucky, rite aid and a few other retailers.

The service was great, but for a breakfast place, they don't execute common dishes well. An eggs Benedict should have perfectly runny eggs but they were more soft to hard boiled. Our server was happy to send the eggs back and while they were better the next time, they still weren't as runny as I was expecting and they kept the same English muffin that was now soggy. Not the best execution for an $18+ meal.

Barely edible waffle. Served lukewarm. Very chewy and unappealing. I was very clear on my order and when food and beverages were served I had to ask again for how I'd originally requested. I e tried this place before and never been super impressed. But. Was at Ace next door so giving it another go. Too bad. It's not worth it. Ordered a side of bacon and tea and this awful waffle. $24. The tea cup had visible egg residue in it. Ick. So decidedly not worth it. Service marginal. No check in. Avoiding eye contact. Empty water glass. Clearly not happy and waitress clearly doesn't care. Not coming back and not recommending.

Quick and friendly service. Great place for omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee. Genuine local feel.

Here on a Saturday morning and it's busy. So glad to see customers coming back, we're lucky to have this little coffee shop in Woodside Plaza! Good breakfast and lunch. Outdoor seating available.

Friends of mine often come here after a hard workout at orangetheory. This place has welcoming staff, great food and quick service! You can tell it is well-respected and well loved in the community. Highly recommend!

This place reminds me of an old breakfast joint that might need a few remodeling. But hey why fix if it isn't broken. The staff were all really nice. As we walked in, the gentleman informed us we can sit wherever we'd like. They offer outside and indoor seating; but the only outside seating that was left were directly in sunlight so we chose inside. The menu has your classic breakfast choices. I decided to go with the breakfast burrito( can't go wrong with a burrito, in my opinion) and I wanted to try their biscuits and gravy. My meal was awesome, no complaints. Food came out super quick and I love the fact that server automatically brought the condiments out with the food( hot sauce, ketchup) instead of us having to ask. Food was for a decent price as well. I really enjoyed myself and will try other stuff on the menu and possibly have more of the biscuits and gravy because it was fire.

I was at Woodside Plaza around noon, and noticed their outdoor dining setup, and ordered a BLT, fries and Coke ($18.82). You order inside at the counter, and then they bring the food out to you when it's ready. The BLT sandwich was fresh and tasty, with the usual ingredients; crisp bacon, lettuce, tomato with mayo on toasted sourdough bread. The fries were crunchy, but potatoey soft inside. The only issue here is their higher than average prices for similar quality food you could get elsewhere for less.

Not bad! I've had mixed experiences with diners so I wasn't sure what to expect. I decided to try Breakers with pickup and was generally happy with my breakfast sandwich. It had bacon in it which I liked a lot! I also liked the sauce that they put in the sandwich. The sandwich was simple but tasty. I also enjoyed the side of fruit too - mostly cantaloupe and pineapple.

We are relatively new to the Woodside Plaza neighborhood and this is within walking distance of our house. We are so grateful for the wonderful Breakers café. The food is tasty and the staff is just the best. Plenty of coffee refills, tasty lattes, and DELICIOUS egg dishes. If you are a bacon lover, try any omelet with bacon. Unlike most places that give you a few crumbs of bacon for flavor, Breakers loads it on and it is just so, so good. As pleasing as the food is, my highest compliments go to the staff. One Sunday when I was especially craving coffee, I spilled my Starbucks latte all over my car because of the stupid Starbucks plastic lids that do not fit snugly. I was feeling very sad about that, so I went to Breakers for a coffee, and then -- this was a very bad day -- I proceeded to spill that entire cup all over my table. At that point, I figured no coffee for me, but my wonderful server (I wish I knew her name) came and offered me another at no charge. I guess it's not very different from getting your cup refilled, but she was so kind and solicitous that it made me feel so much better about the whole bad morning. Now that's service!

I really like the cafe because the service here was incredible and polite not only that's it has quick food service and very spacious. I really do recommend this place

I have been coming Breakers Cafe for over 10 years. It is a diner food joint, who is only open for breakfast and lunch. If you want simple food with no fuss than this is your place. It's clean and I have never waited for a seat.

This place is amazing, great food and amazing service, It has been around for a long time. We love to eat here and they love kids to. If you want to relax and have a great time this is the place to come. Robin T.

Sad to report but there's something's broken at Breakers these days. Dilapidated booth seating, poorly prepared food and aggressively high prices are hindering this formerly solid breakfast & lunch option. Mistakes like poached eggs delivered "hard boiled" rather than runny & yummy, potato salad that smelled funky and tasted worse, burgers that were beyond dry and a dim version of their advertised 1/2 lb. weight class made our recent visit a bit of a deal-breaker. We did appreciate the efficient and hard working host & wait-staff + the general impression of cleanliness in the restaurant.

I am fond of this place for a quick bite. They'll make you anything breakfast related and more.. Eggs, potatoes, hash browns, country fried potatoes, pancakes ,sausage , bacon, you name it. $4 bottomless Coffee. Espresso drinks as well. Donuts, danishes and muffins are on display up front. Always greeted with friendly and professional staff. However, their Biscuits and Gravy was slightly disappointing. The buttery and flaky biscuit I expected was spongy and lifeless. The gravy was sticky thick and lacked flavor. Beware of that dish! Conveniently located on Woodside Road in Redwood City near Rite Aid and Ace Hardware and Lucky's.

The best! Love this place. Very nice, friendly, hard working staff. Delicious food and very reasonably priced with an extremely broad menu. Definitely our "go-to" and worth a little extra drive.

This place had a nice set up and great customer service all the way around but unfortunately I most likely won't be back. The food was just okay in my opinion. Nothing special about it at all. Needed more seasoning in my opinion. If I do go back maybe I'll try something else. However great customer service is why they still get four stars.

I dont know WHY I haven't sone this before. Today it dawned on me. "I go to breakers every weekend, sometimes Saturday AND Sunday. Why haven't I written a review on yelp?" Breakers is busy for all the RIGHT reasons! No matter how busy the servers are, they are kind, respectable, and most of all, they always make time to connect with their customers. My dad and I agree, all of the servers share these attributes. I dont know how the owner did it, but this is the dream team!! Our server (almost) every weekend is Joyce. She is all of the things you need in a server, a friend, AND MORE! For the past year, Joyce, no matter how stressed she is with tables, SHE WONT BREAK! She never complains, or speaks negative, about anything! (Ive tried, believe me! ) She is one of the strongest servers ive came across. Her personality, and her hard work, is the reason we come back. But I must reflect back to the staff, again.its not just Joyce who has been our server. Everybody has! My dad and I look forward for the weekends, so we can eat breakfast at a place of familia! I recommend this place for great consistent food, and kindness from all the staff!

My numerous experiences at Breakers Cafe over the past few years has always been for breakfast. Portions are large but given the prices, I would rather have smaller portions and better quality. Over time quality seems to have gradually gone down. Coffee is always readily replenished but it is poor quality. The highlights? I still really enjoy their sourdough toast and the attentive and friendly staff.

Food is okay but staff is really rude. There was a man in glasses with spikey hair and an average height man with short, black hair. Both of these people were making very inappropriate jokes with customers. Didn't feel comfortable. Food probably would have been better if it was hot

Food is good, but prices were raised recently. Unreasonable price for two eggs, two pancakes and two pieces of bacon. No coffee no hash browns. $14.65. Previous week I paid $10.00. I'll go to Dennys instead.

A wonderful locally owned restaurant with a diner atmosphere. The staff are friendly and efficient. The menu is large and they will accommodate special food requests if they can. They have the full menu available for takeout. They close around 3:00 p.m. and are not open for dinner.

Ive been coming here for a few years now and its my go too for recovering from the night before. I recommend the skillets as its the only thing I get hahaha. In an area that most locations are typically very new, its refreshing to come in and feel the vibe that this place has been here for a long time and for good reason.
