After a year of them being open, we finally tried this breakfast joint 3 mins from our house. Despite hearing mixed things about Breakfast Junkies, my mom who was visiting from out of town really wanted to try it anyway, so we went.
I will say that our waitress Candy was SO friendly. Her bubbly personality was infectious and really brightened our morning. I liked that when I ordered the watermelon juice, she poured me a splash 1st to see if I like it before committing to a large pour; PS, the watermelon juice is DELICIOUS!
We were all satisfied with our food choices. I had the classic Morning Glory (2 eggs, 4 slices of bacon, breakfast potatoes, and 2 slices of sourdough toast). I loved my classic breakfast and was comfortably full; although I will say the $14.50 seemed a tiny bit high - I think $12 would have been a more reasonable price. My mom got the biscuits & gravy, but ordered it a la carte for a smaller portion - the gravy was really good with a nice little kick. My husband had the Ribeye Chilaquiles - he said it was good, but needed more sauce and was slightly cold. He also felt the $18.50 for his meal was a little high and felt like $16 would've felt more reasonable.
I knocked off 2 stars because my mom's coffee was cold, even when getting refills. My "large" watermelon juice and my husband's "large" orange juice were served in a rocks glass - would hate to see what a small is lol
Also, even though the decor was really nice with a fun hip vibe, the seating situation just sucks. It is definitely not plus size friendly at all - not even average size friendly to be honest. We initially were sat at a booth and my mom who's a women's size 16 barely fit, with the unmovable table being tight up against her. I knew I would have an even more difficult time fitting as I'm slightly bigger and taller, so we were moved to 1 of 3 low-top tables with chairs. The chairs were also too small for our big booty, but it was better than the tight booth. While dining, we noticed several other diners were uncomfortably squeezed into the tight booths - clearly a problem. For a breakfast place that serves hearty meals, they sure are not catering to their customer base with roomy seating.
I did like my meal, but if we get a hankering for Breakfast Junkies again, we'll be enjoying it to-go where we can comfortably sit at home, enjoying hot coffee and all the orange juice we can handle!
