"The Boilery Seafood & Grill launched on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in May, but is already touting three New York City expansions, one in Waterbury, Connecticut, and a local move to the 89102 ZIP code. While an exact location has not been confirmed, the restaurant promises to be coming soon to Las Vegas, operated by managing partner Alexander Lee and offering a drinks menu inspired by his mentor, veteran mixologist Jason Walsh of Cocktail Logic and the restaurant Grata in New York City." - Bradley Martin

Google
Gigi was an amazing waitress. My daughter and I had never had a seafood boil before and she was so patient with us and explained everything! She really made our first experience one to remember! Food was so tasty.

Google
I just came from a massage. Was very hungry. Sat at the bar. Princess made me an amazing strawberry margharita. It was delicious. She placed my food order and was so sweet. I highly enjoyed my visit. Will be back💚

Google
They had a very convincing FB ad. Drove. Long way to give them a try. I should have stayed home (overall)… The Good: the clam chowder was very good even if it didn’t have bacon in it The Bad: the snow crab leg clusters were the smallest I’ve seen in years The Ugly: the amount of oil in the bag drowns out the seasoning so much that it was almost tasteless The Disappointing: I asked for extra corn because I didn’t want the potato and got the worse tasting corn ever

Google
We went in not know what to expect but I can tell you this place went above expectations and this is why I gave 5 stars across the board. I say come hungry because they do not skimp on the food there was so much I had to take some home. The staff was attentive always making sure we were ok and had everything answered all questions. I recommend stopping by and trying some of their boils.

Google
So heartbreaking. I spent 138 and change because the food looked amazing. They sent me child potions in everything. Forgot to add the Mozzarella sticks and I’m sorry but the 3 desserts I ordered included the blueberry cheesecake, chocolate lava cake and red velvet cake which alone were 26 dollars and literally slivered portions. About 1/2 inch wide at the base. I’m so disappointed because online the photos and descriptions are amazing but I’ve never been so disappointed in my 25 years of take out. Soggy fires. Burnt food. 3/4 smaller size portions. Burnt calamari. Just so disappointed. In everything we ordered. Never again. Never. For 138 that was 25 dollar food.

Google
The fried food was lightly seasoned. But it was ok. I think I should have tried the seafood boils... Next time!

Google
The boil was amazing. I recommend using the house special sauce. The spice level was right on what I ordered. While had the boil my son had a chicken poy boy sandwich. Something for everyone. The smoked old fashioned was very good and all was reasonably priced. John was great as were Lin & Lily.

Google
Thought it would be a new experience- left after receiving burnt crab Rangoon twice with no crab in it. Went to the Hungry Crab in Hartford all you can eat $39.99

Carmen S.

Yelp
food is excellent. cannot wait to go again. Staff was very pleasant loved the food. we bought crab leg, shrimp and mussels. we enjoyed

Brian B.

Yelp
Food was average, seasoning was watery w little butter. Had plenty of Jarlic. They asking $32 alb for snow crab legs while supermarket has them for $7.99 a lb and that retail. Plus 1cluster is NOT a 1/2 lb. So beware, 1/2 lb of snow crab is 1.5 -2 cluster. Mine was def light Service was blah I wouid try someplace new before going back

Jane K.

Yelp
Not as expected from the IG post I wish these reviewers would stop over-rating restaurants.

Douglas M.

Yelp
soft shell crab was awfull sorry to report, the likely old crab should have not been offerd....fries were fair... coke was normal and larger

Debbie C.

Yelp
I got the combo with shrimp, crab and added a lobster tail. I also paid $3.00 for extra garlic butter. First, the shrimp and crab was probably the best I've ever had. The shrimp was cooked perfect. Now I get a lot of snow crab legs at the grocery store and these were far superior in taste. The boiled potatoes were mush. My biggest complaint is paying for garlic butter that's not even butter. There isn't a drop of butter in there. It's some sort of oil that doesn't solidify. I waited overnight before I said anything. It was still liquid coming out of the fridge. The lobster tail was a waste of money. It was previously frozen and stuck to the shell like they do. If I got it again, I would have my own real butter.

Yelp
The food here is immaculate. Me and my family went for the first time and were blown away by the food. Definitely coming back.

Sonya M.

Yelp
I stopped in because I was craving clam chowder and had some time to waste before meeting with my mom. The clam chowder was decent. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it wasn't bad either. I did add 1 1/2 packets of salt and 1 1/2 packets of pepper. The ambiance is casual. The wait staff is friendly. It's pretty slow early evening on a Monday. It's perfect if you are looking for an after work spot w your coworkers. Or if you are finishing up paperwork alone. They have a nice bar but I'm doing a dry February. Looks like it'll be a very cute option for Valentines as well.

Yelp
The service was excellent and we all enjoyed our lunch. I like the old car license plates on the walls.

Vincent I.

Yelp
Amazing service and great food! The place is large, open air and wonderful atmosphere! Princess was our server and she was wonderful.

Samantha V.

Yelp
The family visited for the first time for Christmas Dinner. There were 10 of us total. I wish I would have kept my receipt so I had our waitress's name. She was Awesome! Half our party did substitutions and she took it in stride. Our appetizers were fried calamari, crab cakes, and we did a crawdad's meal to share as a table. The fried calamari rings were huge, less chewy than normal yet crispy. The crab cakes were so good a teenager actually loved them. The crawdad's had plenty of meat in them. Our food also very good the only things we did not like the salad's and potato sides were small. Our dinners were (2) crispy fried shrimp baskets, (3) boil combos, cajun shrimp w/ side salad, and salmon with a side salad. All the seafood in the boils were fresh and tasty. The crispy fried shrimp the batter was nice and thick with lots of flavor. Salmon was two good sizes pieces and so good! I will be back with my Dad so he can try The Boilery!

Yelp
We were craving seafood so we decided to dine in at the Boilery Seafood & Grill. I have been here a few times. It's located inside the Brass Mill Center Mall where the old Bertucci's use to be. We ordered their signature item which is the boil bag. We got the Make Your Own Seafood Combo where you get to pick your catch, pick a sauce, and then pick a spice level. For my boil bag seafood catch I went with the snow crab and shrimp; the combo also includes corn and potato. I got the garlic butter for my sauce and I did not add any spiciness to it. It was delicious.I also got a classic margarita which was very good. The portion size is reasonable for the price, but overall the meal is not very filling.

Chris B.

Yelp
Food was okay, not great but not bad either. Staff was friendly. Reasonable prices and portions. Attached to a mall so it's definitely not fine dining.

Amy T.

Yelp
I order takeout and always get a seafood boil. The food is well seasoned and hot when I get home. Sometimes the snow crab legs seem smaller than other times. Price is reasonable.

Romy F.

Yelp
Nothing good to say about this place. It was like fast food. The waitress, after taking our order, never came back to the table, never asked us if we wanted another cocktail or drink, never asked us if we wanted coffee or dessert, never bussed the table of our dirty dishes. For a seafood place, they do not make any of their own tartar sauce, the cocktail sauce was ketchup in hot sauce. No visible horseradish. We were celebrating someone's birthday and they never did anything never came back to the table just horrible.

Amanda M.

Yelp
We had lunch here today after having lunch last week at Hook and Reel. The Boilery is much much closer to us as we live on the West end of Waterbury. I have to say the food was so good and so was the service. Our server was Princess and she was attentive and gave us a great recommendation for the sauce choice. The corn was good, the potatoes were a little undercooked for my taste. I was a little disappointed to hear the rice balls had been discontinued but they are still on the menu. In addition, they offer great side choices! Hush puppies were so good and their french fries were the best of any restaurant we have been to in a while. My husband and I shared the crab leg boil and it was the perfect amount of food for the two of us given the time of day. I would not hesitate to make this a date night place!

Marilyn O.

Yelp
Fast, friendly service and excellent food. Following the current Louisiana-inspired steamed seafood craze, The Boilery is a welcome addition to the Waterbury restaurant scene. My especial favorite is the grilled shrimp served over garlic butter noodles. Scrumptious! Just the right bit of heat, rich and very tasty.

Brandon S.

Yelp
Great seasoning! When you go to a restaurant your fries usually are plain and bland. But not here the seasoning they use on the fries and chicken strips is very good, and they're not stingy with the portion. Since the pandemic I've noticed many places have been making their portions smaller. So when you go to a place that you were a regular at before the pandemic and you notice that your meal is smaller but at the same price it makes you want to not be as loyal as you once was. If The Boilery Seafood and Grill keeps with this good taste, and nice portion size, they'll have a new regular. The order ahead option is very useful. I was able to pay ahead as well which limited how long I had to be in the restaurant. I really appreciated that option. Mask were worn and the restaurant looked very clean. I do plan on trying another meal soon to confirm my good experience.

Thomas C.

Yelp
Had dinner with the family. My wife and I each got combo dinners. It tasted fresh and was hot. Service was fast. It's definitely a little pricy but so is seafood these days so that's not their fault. Wood definitely go again for a special occasion

David G.

Yelp
The Cajun sauce was a bit salty and I'm pretty sure they include the weight of the corn and potatoes when weighing the seafood. I hardly consider this to be worth $30.

Susan S.

Yelp
We went for the boiled seafood, it was very good. The restaurant is in the old Bertucci's space in the old Brass City Mall so parking is plentiful. Not much work has been done to the place since it was vacated. Overlook the lack of aesthetics and decor and focus on the food. Mixed seafood dinners all around. It was all very good, seasoned as ordered and arrived quickly and hot. Cocktails and wine were surprisingly good. Beer selection is basically bottled American. I hope this place survives because it's the only similar offering in the area at this price point. Kid friendly and casual. Give it a try!

The O.

Yelp
Great value for the money and all the different menu options. My kids love the food and writing on the walls. The stuff are super nice and welcoming.

Julio S.

Yelp
Average at best. I tried the Cajun seasoned combo mild was way too mellow for me. It's the only Cajun style boil seafood in the area so it probably will get me back for one more try.

Kim C.

Yelp
Amazing seafood Get the boil. They come in a puffed bag. Taste great and fun too !

Kevin D.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. You don't expect amazing food from a place attached to a mall, but this was. I ordered two pounds of crawfish and one pound of snowcrab legs. Everything was piping hot and delicious. I really don't know what else to say. Eating giant crawfish in November is amazing. I'm looking forward to going again!

Evan C.

Yelp
I had the seafood boil with lobster, crab and shrimp. It was amazing. The Cajun spice is absolutely on point. The drinks my wife and I had were amazing. I recommend the indigo sour. Our waiter Kenny was really friendly! We will be returning.

Vivian M.

Yelp
Food was great! Tons of food and well worth the price! Everyone was happy with their meal. Will definitely be returning soon!!

Yelp
We were in the Waterbury mall for some Christmas returns and figured it would be a good time to give The Boilery a try. Our server was very pleasant and we did appreciate his attentiveness throughout the meal. My mom ordered the raspberry sweet tea as her drink, and they weren't kidding that it was sweet. It didn't taste like raspberry at all to us, it was just straight sugar. For an appetizer we had the crab Rangoons which we enjoyed, but the sauce it came with was a bit strange. My mom had the shrimp po' boy as her meal with a side of Cajun waffle fries. She thought the shrimp was very fresh, but the spice from the waffle fries was a lot for her. I had the fish tacos, and they were slathered in a chipotle aioli. It wasn't bad, it was just hard to taste anything other than the chipotle aioli. We ordered a side of the garlic butter noodles, and the only thing we tasted was Cajun seasoning. They were really spicy and our noses were running the whole meal, lol! Overall it wasn't bad, we were just surprised by the spiciness of our meals.

Lori C.

Yelp
The food I will say is tasty. We ordered take out. My husband got home and we got the wrong order. We called, they apologized and he went back. We told them twice we wanted the old bay seasoning. They did give us hush puppies for free with the second order, but the order was once again wrong. It was butter garlic and the half pound of scallops were 6 scallops?? We were very disappointed that once again the order was not correct. We appreciate the hush puppies but we won't order again.

Andre C.

Yelp
Recently went to the boilery and had a breath experience. The food was great and the place was set up nicely and was clean. Kenny was our server and he was awesome.

Rebecca J.

Yelp
Ordered the branzino and soft shell crab on Grubhub and enjoyed both. Both were fresh and seasoned perfectly.

Dwayne B.

Yelp
I finally have a reason to go to the Waterbury Mall. What a great new restaurant. The meal was amazing. The crab, scallops and shrimp bag with Cajun hot seasoning was great. I hope Waterbury will support the business, I know I will be back again soon. Also the manager and Kenny our server where very helpful, being it was our first time to a seafood bag restaurant. Yelp
We have been to several of these style seafood in a bag restaurants. We were quite excited to see the boilery open up in the waterbury mall. I would have to say we were quite impressed. The restaurant is decorated nicely. It was quite clean and tables were placed in a covid friendly layout. The food was the best out of all these Cajun seafood places. I highly recommend the signature sauce blend. It was super flavorful. Kenny was our waiter and he did a great job giving recommendations and taking care of us. We will be back.

MICK S.

Yelp
Oh boy we went there recently and wow do you get a lot of food. It's excellent. It could be a little messy but it's fun. And the service is always very good too. Enjoy

Marisol S.

Yelp
Great seafood! Love the snow crab legs seafood very fresh highly recommend seafood Boil is a must and their Baskets are Great Too!

Lucy C.

Yelp
This restaurant is known for the custom boils (shrimp, sausage and crab boils for example). I had the lobster roll and it was great. It was mostly lobster with herbs and NOT a lot of Mayo. We also got lobster Mac and cheese for the table. Kenny, our server, was very friendly and did a great job. The atmosphere was laid back and easy. We were in town for work and needed a comfy place to have some good food. The Boilery Seafood and Grill was the place.

Pollyanna S.

Yelp
I'm so happy there's finally a seafood boil spot close to me! I have been a loyal customer to the spots in west Hartford & Milford but sometimes I just don't want to drive 30-40 minutes for food. I kind of didn't want to like this place because it's definitely gonna be a problem for my health & wallet because I'll be here more often than I should. But it did not disappoint! I ordered takeout and I love that I can order right through their website. My food was ready right on time and not a long line to get my food. I ordered the seafood combo with 1/2lb of snow crab legs, shrimp, and mussels. It was delicious!! Nice, fresh, and hot when I got home 15 minutes away. The corn was off, not sure if it was a little overcooked but overall still impressed. I also love that I am able to have steamed rice on the side. Hook & Reel in Milford does not have rice and I love eating my seafood with rice. Definitely gonna be my new favorite place to come to for seafood boil, you'll be seeing me here at least once a week. Thanks!!!

Noel D.

Yelp
This spot was absolutely amazing the food was great and also the service I would recommend as a spot to eat at...

Nate V.

Yelp
They should rename their lobster Mac and cheese to Mac and cheese with a sliver of lobster. I'm serious, there were literally 4 half inch pieces in this Mac and cheese. Embarrassing.

Stacy P.

Yelp
I brought my husband here for dinner (12/12/2020) and he LOVED it!! He was so impressed that before we even left he was saying how we need to come back! Our server Shay was awesome! She was fun, friendly and very accommodating. Thanks for a great new place close to home! The Pelton's

Levi G.

Yelp
My wife and I went to check them out last week. The food and service was great. Their boil bags are packed with flavor and you get a good portion of food. Also, check out their wings if you are looking for an appetizer. They're really good.

Ralph B.

Yelp
Coming over to your restaurant tonight to try it out the worst experience I have ever ever experienced in my life as a bartender server at a manager we ordered two margaritas on the rocks we get it in a martini glass with rocks could not drink out of the glass the rocks were falling out do you have rocks glasses as you are a franchise you should notice the service horrendous we ordered appetizers we get the appetizers then the entrées come out we get a check while we are eating our entrées the table is not even cleared fromThe appetizers the glasses are not cleared we order a bottle of wine she didn't know how to open up a twist off bottle where is your management how do you train these people my friend the food was very good but the service needs perfection

Anna C.

Yelp
I had a craving for the sea food broil. Major disappointment . I had picked up 2 orders, a. Spicy seafood broil and a mild. The orders were mixed. What should have been mild was extra spicy and vice versa. I immediately called to explain the mix up they apologized and requested I return the orders. I get back to the restaurant, I wait again and, then finally they came with a new order. While waiting I did not receive an apology nor any compensation for the inconvenience they caused me. I return back home open the box unravel the plastic and see that my 2 clusters of snow crab legs are missing a leg I again called them and asked why the crab legs were missing a leg and they informed me they needed to give the accurate weight. "Are you kidding me" they couldn't leave the cluster in tact for my troubles. As far as I am concerned I will never order for this establishment again. I rather drive to New Haven to satisfy my craving and know that I am not being cheated of my time an money.

Danielle L.

Yelp
Nice restaurant for Waterbury that is convenient, priced well, and offers good seafood choices. We went for an early dinner on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. We received a bit of an eye roll from the hostess when we asked for a booth after she led us to the far back of the restaurant! The atmosphere was modern, the music a bit louder than I like, but not so loud you couldn't hear each other. Kenny was our server, and he was pleasant and attentive, but not overly so. Ask for him if you go! The menu isn't vast, but there are enough options to order something to satisfy everyone. My partner ordered the fried platter with onion rings, and the portion was large. The food hot, and everything delicious. I created my own boilery with a lobster tail, shrimp (no heads), and scallops in the garlic & butter sauce with mild heat. It was messy to eat (pealing shrimp, wrestling the lobster tail), and I had a hard time removing the meat from the lobster tail. I had to bare hand it, even though they provide you with gloves. The flavors were good, though, and overall I was pleased with my choices. The corn was tough, and there were a few baby potatoes. The portion was enough that I finished all but a few shrimp, and tossed the corn. For the two of us, we spent $70 (not including tip, and we didn't order alcohol) and I thought it was reasonable. Were my socks knocked off? No, but I'll probably return in the future. I recommended it to my hairdresser, so I'd recommend it to you too!
