"COVID-19 update: The center is temporarily closed but a full roster of online art classes for kids of all ages is running. Brentwood Art Center’s classes cater to all kinds of artistic interest, from drawing techniques to comic book illustration. This summer, they’ve moved their popular art camp online. Options span learning the fundamentals of watercolors and pastels and the art of collage to fun painting and drawing classes for kids. All of this artsy activity for kids as young as five happens on Zoom. Choose whatever session suits your child and register online. For something special, the Art Center offers private tutorials across most mediums, which could be a smart solution for a virtual birthday party. COVID-19 disclaimer: We are working hard to keep our listings as up to date as possible (deliveries, outdoor dining, etc.), but given the evolving nature of local COVID-19 restrictions, we recommend double-checking the information in this guide with any business you plan on visiting. Also, please note that we have not vetted any businesses listed within our guides for their compliance with applicable safety regulations."

I took a wonderful art class at LACMA a few years back with David Schoffman. I'm delighted to see him on the Faculty of Brentwood Art Center. I highly recommend studying with David . He is a talented artist. A pro. And a brilliant teacher. I recommend him also for mentoring & teaching teens. You will FIND YOUR ARTIST!

What a warm and inviting environment. A variety of mediums, something for everyone: young and old, those just beginning to serious artists. The uninstructed figurative workshop attracts a nice and welcoming group, highest caliber models, and is great value.

Yelp
Ed & Linda allowed this young Hispanic teen a scholarship to attend this awesome school in early 2000's. I will never forget their kindness in my enrollment. Since then, I've grown to appreciate the world of art. I hope nothing but the best for this art school and it's future.

Yelp
We had a great time yesterday at the studentbart showing. All the work was unique and interesting. The demo workshops were fun and our whole family did small pieces and it was awesome.

Yelp
Excellent art classes. It also has uninstructed drawing workshops twice a week that are great.

Yelp
Brentwood Art Center Uninstructed Figurative Workshops are the best! Drop-ins welcome. You do not need to be registered in a BAC class to attend. Wednesdays 2-5 p.m. - one long pose; Oil paints welcome. Thursdays 2-5 p.m. - short poses (Five 5-minute poses, then 20 minute poses for remainder of workshop.) Without exaggeration, these are the world's best artists' models. Phone to reserve your spot. $15 fee. Arrive early to settle in. Starts punctually.

Yelp
It was neat to be able to take some art classes and try to make a few new local friends who shared a common interest in art. The teachers seemed nice and so did the other students. I didn't make much progress there creatively or technically. Los Angeles has changed. I would save your money if you were still curious. It seems like they are just looking to support long time students and not people who have studied else where. It's a crowded space. Don't get stuck there.

Yelp
I have been attending the Brentwood Art Center since 2004 and I have been overjoyed with the experience. The classes are small and comfortable, the teachers are excellent, the staff is genuine and the newly added figure workshops are the best ever! This place has become like home for me and the people there are not only teachers and staff but friends! Lisette

Yelp
Agree w other review that making money comes before customer service. Do not expect your child to learn any useful art skills as it is run more like a high priced daycare. If you miss a class, they are not at all nice about making it up. Good location, but I was disappointed with their bad customer service.

Yelp
Summer Camp - Although I think the art instructions are fine, this speaks more to their Summer camp policy. Summer is hard enough trying to work out all the schedules and there are a lot of camps that offer some flexibility which most moms really appreciate. Beware that at $110/day, you had better be very certain you are committed to the classes, you've reviewed your travel plans carefully, and that your child doesn't get sick in the midst of the session they have signed up for. We signed up on Friday for 3 days Mon, Wed, Fri, realized on Tuesday that I made a mistake since we are flying out on Friday morning. Called and asked if they would consider reimbursing me for Friday - Nope Make ups...Nope I get it, that's their policy and that's $110 down the drain..just wanted to give our son a quality art experience, we made the final choice and now we've learned our lesson. Moral of the story: review your calendar very, very carefully before you give your credit card. This camp will cut you no slack.

Yelp
If you have brentwood type cash flow and don't mind tossing money around then this school could suit you. But don't be fooled, the school is run for profit and they're not above misleading their students about costs. They told my girlfriend she could make up missed classes at anytime- no problem. What they didn't tell her that she had to pay for another semester in order to make up those classes. Overpriced, better off going to SMCC.

Yelp
A lovely, friendly, diverse facility offering many classes and opportunities for the artistic minded. The uninstructed drawing classes always present a unique challenge with live, nude models.

Yelp
My daughter has been taking art classes here since she was 4 years old (she's now almost 9), and she had her 8th birthday party here too. I took a wonderful printmaking workshop at BAC about a year ago. My husband took art classes here when he was a teenager about 30 years ago! That's our whole family...and all three of us are delighted with our experiences exploring art at this school. The instructors are all very experienced, and for kids the lessons are age-appropriate and fun. Bravo, BAC!

Yelp
My kid loved it. She did the summer day camp here. Normally she is a little shy in new situations but she was super excited to go everyday and she wants to sign up for more.

Yelp
BAC was one of the best schools I have been to. The teachers are amazing, encouraging and knowledgeable. I am so incredibly sad to see the doors of BAC close. I hope that it will be resurrected somehow

Yelp
I really like the figure drawing workshop that runs on Wednesdays and Thursdays (2-5pm). There's a very pleasant atmosphere, great care is given to have interesting accessories for the figure models to use, there's light refreshments, a nice music selection and plenty of room for artists to work in.

Yelp
My kid has taken numerous classes here and has been very happy!

Yelp
I have been taking watercolor painting classes for almost 10 years and many in the class have been there longer and we obviously love it. The other teachers are excellent as well (from other classes I have taken on an individual basis. ) I can't recommend the school and the teachers more highly!
