Surly Brewing Aims to Hire New Staff to Reopen Its Beer Hall - Eater Twin Cities

"The brewery then took its time constructing a massive brewery in an industrial part of Minneapolis with an expansive green space, beer hall stacked with long tables for communal seating, production space, room for private events, and a fine dining restaurant upstairs. The fine dining restaurant, Brewer’s Table, would close shortly after receiving widespread national attention, including a James Beard nomination for its chef." - Ali Elabbady

Surly Brewing Will Close Beer Hall November 2 - Eater Twin Cities

"Brewer’s Table was a fine dining restaurant located upstairs in Surly Beer Hall. It received widespread national attention and a James Beard nomination for its chef before it was replaced by a New Haven-style pizza eatery." - Joy Summers

The difference between the downstairs and upstairs at Surly is a fun juxtaposition. The four course meal my wife and I had for our first anniversary was amazing, they even spotted us a little extra dessert! Our waiter did a fantastic job helping us figure out what we wanted. And what topped it all off was the beer pairings with our food. Everything I had was something I wouldn't normally get, but they all paired incredibly well with the food we ate. Fantastic meal and evening, can't wait to go again!

Mika Baer

Google
The pairings were well done, but not worth the price. I tried every entree on the menu and although they paired well with the beer, I would not go back to have anything on the menu again. Small portions, weird sauces. Some of the flavor profiles were interesting but it just fell short for me given the price point. The service was excellent and based on the descriptions/my taste in food, I was fully expecting to love most of the dishes. My responses were closer to disliking them to the point of not even finishing the already small portions, or having an appreciation for the flavor/beer pairing but feeling unenthused. The service was excellent and I would recommend the chocolate cake or the fois gras.

Christian Neal-Herman

Google
We really enjoyed our time here. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. While the selection for the four courses was limited, the choices all sounded amazing, and our server worked around our tables' dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten allergy, almond allergy).

Google
Amazing! A truly unique experience that is sadly going away. There is nothing else like it! Amazing food that goes with amazing beer in an awesome atmosphere with TOP NOTCH service. A grand adventure for a fraction of what it would be priced in a city like NYC or Chicago. A must.

Google
Amazing culinary and beer pairing experience I have yet to have elsewhere in MSP. To all of the Surly people involved in the Brewer's table, thank you for having the vision and operational excellence to bring this concept to reality. So sad to hear it will be closing later this summer, but know that you have inspired others to keep pushing the boundaries of food and beer.

Jamie Marshall

Google
The best meal I've ever had in my life. Incredible food, presentation, beer pairings, service. It was all top notch.

Daniel Leutgeb

Google
Such amazing flavors such great complexity. I'm so sad this place is closing. Easily one of the best meals in the twin cities.

Matthew Erickson

Google
So sad this place is leaving us. The beer pairings are truly something special, i'll eat anything Jorge Guzman makes, anytime.

Yelp
Wow! What a great way to spend an afternoon! We had kids ranging from 2 to 33 years of age. Killer pizzas great beer and sodas Lots of open space for the kids to play. One issue was the seating and ordering system is kinda chaotic not a lot of border. But love this place!.

Yelp
Ambiance: Beautiful modern brewery. Service: Sit-down & casual. Food: The pizza was amazing here! My husband loved his beer.

Yelp
Welcome to the mother ship, the Surly beer hall. This is quite the upgrade from the humble beginning on Ducharme Ave, where one would camp overnight for Darkness...and one of the most amazing annual bottle shares ever amassed, but I digress. Surly really put together a wonderful spot. Being here more times than I can shake a stick at, it is time to put my two cents in on this place. The property located in SE MPLS really sticks out, not unlike US Bank stadium...not sure if that is a good thing or not. Parking is generally easy in and easy out. You may need to walk a block or so, but it's good for you. Entering the establishment, you will see the merch room, which always has some pretty cool stuff to buy, and I recommend you take a gander here. Past the merch area, you enter the beer hall. You will see long tables where you can sit; if it is busy, you will need to wait to be seated. The bar is significantly long and has plenty of seating. You will also notice an outdoor area, which is great for hanging out, playing games, and gathering around the fire pits. The beer selection is Surly all day, every day, which is fine. Over the years, they have developed quite a nice portfolio of beers that a particular palette will appreciate. Pro tip: keep an eye on the tap menu. If you are lucky, you will see one of their anniversary beers on tap, or a Darkness varietal. Dear Surly, please bring back II, VII, or VIII sometime soon...best anniversary beers EVER! On the food scene. Everything is solid. I can't confirm whether it is because I was hungry and had a warm glow from a belly full of beer, or if it's just good food. I am leaning towards the latter. Items that are always my favorites are the pretzel, hog frites, pierogies....and you can't go wrong with a Brat....They used to have a fried bologna Sandwich that was simple yet so amazing. That should be put back on the menu. You will undoubtedly want to enjoy the dining and drinking here. Please note: quite a number of their beers are higher ABV, so PLEASE plan accordingly for a safe trip home.

Yelp
Surly just isn't one of my top brewery picks anymore. The main reason I come back is for the outdoor space. But even with that, the food ordering setup is so odd to me and I think it's their biggest flaw. The fact that you can only order from one menu while sitting in a specific area of the brewery, and the other menu is only available upstairs just makes everything more complicated than it should be. We ordered pizza from upstairs, and it was pretty good but we had to get it "to go" so we could bring it down to the grassy area of the patio. Also, I'm all for kids at breweries, but when we went, (Saturday evening) there were so many. I think the big open space makes it kid-friendly, but it also meant they were running around everywhere, some even running across the top of the picnic tables. Not going to lie, it felt a little unhinged, haha.

Yelp
Food has really gone downhill since our last visit. The fish tacos had 4 pinky finger size pieces of breaded fish with about 1/3 cup of slaw total , for 2 tacos. I didn't care for the tortillas. If there was any sauce I didn't notice. The chicken sandwich was tasteless and paper thin. The parodies were very good. The beer is still great

Yelp
I've ended up going to Surly's two times in the last two days. It's a very nice vibe. Their patio is so huge! A lot of choice of where to sit. I want to sit in their upstairs bar sometime soon. Their beers are always good and they have a good range of options. You order up at the bar, so pretty limited contact with staff, but my limited interactions were good. I got a good recommendation from them and they let me try multiple beers, so love that. Overall, very nice for a chill drink on a summer night. Updated review: Went back on Saturday and finally got food. We got the Nakatomi pizza, spinach and artichoke dip, and caesar salad. Everything was sooo delicious. Such a good combo and just hit the spot so well. Also! Sat on the upstairs balcony and it was really nice :) But one of my playing cards fell down into the slit between the boards of the patio. Bummed about that, but it was the wind's fault.

Yelp
Went here for a hosted event, I was attending a conference. The place is a nice place, the lighting and overall ambiance was pretty awesome. The food? It was good, ribs, fries and salads. Didn't really deal with the staff to be honest. I'm not going to lie they had a a lot of beers on tap and the selection was good. I don't think I picked right though I had something called Hell and I thought it was to bitter. Overall nice experience and maybe I just chose the wrong beer to drink.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
The best part about this experience is the ambiance both indoor and out (though the outdoor patio stares down a huge old granery façade, but it does block the sun from coming directly into your eyes in the evening, season-depending). Everyone looked like they were having a fun time eating pizza and drinking beer. We tried the Caesar's salad -- best part was the croutons, and a couple types of pizza -- all were decent but the crust was kinda tasteless though perfectly baked (needed more salt and yeast) and the toppings were fine if also not memorable. A huge beer selection but some of them were downright weird, taste-wise (as in, how could you let this overly sweet stuff be sold). Service was friendly with order first and deliver later.

Yelp
Surly Brewing came highly recommended by a friend of ours so naturally we planned a visit while in Minneapolis. We took the train from our hotel and after a short walk we arrived at Surly! We tried a couple different brews during our visit including Winterize and Furious IPA. I also had a Jell-O shot because why not. We got lucky with seats at the bar upstairs and ordered 2 pizzas: Walter White - great combination of thinly sliced potato, garlic oil, and rosemary was really interesting and tasty. I'm Your Daddy - my favorite of the two. I love anything with pepperoni. The burnt honey added a lovely sweetness. The pizzas were nicely charred since they are New Haven-style. Great brewery with delicious beer and pizza, friendly bartenders. Indoor and outdoor areas to hang out, fire pits. A little bit of everything! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Marissa P.

Yelp
One of my favorite local breweries in Minneapolis! I love their Furious and Hazy IPA -- always solid picks. The pizza is great, and the beer flight is a fun way to try a little of everything. The patio is a huge plus -- super dog-friendly and perfect for nice weather. Such a good spot for both date nights and hanging out with friends. Always a good time here!
google avatar

Mary W.

Yelp
Very friendly welcoming staff. We walked in and ordered and went out to the grass to sit with our group. On a Sunday afternoon (holiday weekend) we were able to sit around the fire pit area with 8 of us. There were tables available (have to ask the team to get a table) I had the mango kombucha - yummy! And husband and friends had beer they enjoyed. Would love to have the pups but we're visiting from way out of town.

Yelp
Great time yet again at Surly! Stopped in on a Saturday to get my free beer (Pub Pass) and get some food upstairs. Kiddo love the Steve pizza with Pepperoni. My wife shared the Tempting Fate pizza with some spinach artichoke dip. Food was great and even brought some home for left overs. Bartenders were great, the offered suggestions based on their experience. Took 2 crowlers home for Sunday. Can't wait till next time. Thanks Surly

Yelp
Came to Surly Brewing on a Saturday at 1pm with a group of 22 people and had no reservations. We waited a few minutes and our table was ready. This place is very ideal for really large groups! Service was friendly, establishment was clean, and lots of choices of beer! Bok Choy was the best thing I had here. It was a very generous portion and the chili oil it had gave it a nice kick. Spice is on the milder side. The Salmon Farro bowl surprised me. I didn't expect much from it, but it was good. Like clean your plate good, and I'm not a huge salad person. Pizza was good, not standout worthy, but beer and pizza, can't go wrong. The Cubano sandwich wasn't giving your traditional Cubano sandwich vibes, and if you like westernized takes on authentic dishes, then this sandwich is for you. Recommend this place for large groups if in the area!

Audra M.

Yelp
Surly has great beer, and the staff is awesome. I have never had a meal there, but the number of people eating speaks to the good eats, I think. Tours are affordable and fun, and in warm weather, the whole complex is abuzz with activity and people enjoying the local brews. Last time I went, they were decorated for Halloween, and that was super cool.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Super kind folks, best pizza in MN and probably top 3 in my life, and the environment is just so entertaining with the lights and open space. My bartender was Blake and provided such a great welcoming feel, such nice people and great food...what more can you ask for? This was the third time I returned in one month, and I live about an hour away....

Yelp
First time going to a concert here & I highly recommend! As always Surly brews were top notch but the concert vibe was a nice twist to my usual experience here
google avatar

Ann Marie C.

Yelp
We came to Surly for an outdoor concert at Surly field. Came a little early for their pizza. It's New Haven style with a nice thin crust that's a little chewy and crispy. Delicious. We've eaten at the beer hall before and loved it there too. The food pairs really nicely with their beer. Concert venue was nice. My only complaint is that it's sandy and I hate sand in my shoes. Beer at the concert was $8. They had beer on tap and THC cans. We had a burrito from their food truck which was delicious, despite being prepared ahead of time. Food truck items were priced about $15-20.

Dylan Y.

Yelp
Always a great place to be with friends. Good priced beer, plenty of selection and good food! Fast service and not too packed on a Saturday which was nice.
google avatar

Darren L.

Yelp
I would strongly recommend checking out Surly - especially if you have the chance to go during the warmer months when you can spend time outside. It's big enough that you can usually find a spot, even for a bigger group. Food is decently priced and actually good(!), and the order via mobile to table service is pretty quick, too. I wouldn't necessarily go there to eat if I was in a big rush, but there is a tap beer line where you can order directly from someone instead of your phone, too. Picture: Taco Al pastor Chips and guacamole
google avatar

Alexander V.

Yelp
Food wasn't good when we came here after work. Beer was flat. Service was poor and unprofessional. Would not recommend. Many better options around Minneapolis.
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
Checked out surly last night. I hadn't been here in a while only because we live near NE Minneapolis and there are so many great breweries to choose from. I was unaware but it was their 10 year anniversary so they had some special things going on, like the owner was there and made a speech and handed out free furious. They were also doing raffles throughout the night. Which was cool. My husband and I grabbed a beer while waiting for our table. I had the grapefruit supreme, which was good. And I tired my husbands darkness which was also very good. They were doing flights of their darkness (imperial stouts) for their 10 year so we did try one of those as well. They have a limoncello one that was a little different, but not bad. We ordered the brisket queso and it was good but it was a little salty. They had a Xmas pop up bar upstairs that was reservations only but we were able to peel in and check it out. It was gremlins themed which I thought was cool that they picked something a little different from the norm. Service was great. They do have parking available. And it's a really big place. I do know in the warmer months they have a really great outdoor space as well. All in all, I would recommend visiting if you like good beer and a welcoming atmosphere.
google avatar

Aditi D.

Yelp
Loved this spot -- big, lively, and full of energy. The space is massive with both indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for groups or just hanging out. Tons of character without feeling overwhelming. The beer selection is great -- whether you're into IPAs, sours, or something dark and rich, there's something for everyone. I tried a couple of their classics and one seasonal, and they were all well-balanced and super drinkable. They also had a good variety of sizes, which I appreciated. Food was a pleasant surprise too -- definitely more than just your standard bar fare. Everything we had came out quickly and tasted fresh. Staff were attentive and helpful when recommending both drinks and bites, even though it was pretty packed. Such a fun, energetic place to spend a weekend afternoon or start off a night. Will absolutely be back.
google avatar

Morgan W.

Yelp
Great beer, great service and great atmosphere! They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to choose from. They now have servers that come to your table to order your drinks and food instead of the barcodes where you scan an order yourself. Great space to go with co-workers, friends or even your whole family including the kiddos. Lots of food options including kid menu options for the kiddos.
google avatar

Mikena S.

Yelp
The pizza and outdoor patio are the highlight of Surly. They typically have live music out side and a lot of seating. I like the I'm your daddy pizza which is pepperoni, hot honey, peppers, red sauce, and Motz. It has a sweet heat which is my favorite on pizza. I do wish they had like a sour beer or seltzer for people like me who don't love beer. Service is always top notch!
google avatar

Lindsey F.

Yelp
This is a cool space. It's a restaurant so it's family friendly and there's a ton of variety in seating options. They do take Reservations but not when there are big events going on. We had an ill-timed visit during the ganja games which attracted large crowds and caused a lot of confusion. The outdoor seating allows you to order from QR codes and makes splitting the bill easy with big parties. Overall the food was good, the ambiance was great, and we'll be back but we'll check their calendar of events first!
google avatar

Timothy G.

Yelp
I have been to a lot of breweries but this was bigger than I expected. I have enjoyed Surly's selection of fine craft beers, so it was good to finally get to the place where the magic all happens. All the selection were very good, open area with room to me, lots of light and comfortable atmosphere. The service was good. I didn't get an opportunity to try the food but I will next time in.
google avatar

Mary Y.

Yelp
The food was good and a good portion to share with friends! There needs to be qr code at the tables outside too.
google avatar

Carly G.

Yelp
Surly is a well known large and in charge brewery. But hate to say it but it lives up to the hype. They serve great beer, cocktails, and seltzers. Have a variety of food choices downstairs and upstairs including pizza. Their brewery tour is wonderful on a Saturday too.
google avatar

Holly W.

Yelp
LARGE AND IN CHARGE! Surly is MASSIVE! So large we saw people checking in with the outdoor hostess stating they were there for a wedding. We never saw the wedding! How did it hit my radar? Yelp's 2024 top 100 pizza list! I marked it in my Minneapolis collection because it I would be stopping there on my summer road trip. It's a cool place. Very modern, open spaces. Cool merch. But a few things to make note of with my experience: I don't understand why they do things the way they do them! The first floor is almost like a German style beer hall. You do get seated by a hostess. You might have a connected table to strangers (can totally handle that.) All your ordering should be done online with QR codes. Even beer. BUT if you want pizza you have to go upstairs and order. Plus when it's done the waitstaff who delivers all the other food on the first floor doesn't deliver pizza you must then go get it yourself. WHAT?! I can share that a beer connoisseur, like my husband, wants to talk to someone about the beer like what are you known for? What's your favorite? what do you suggest is a must try? etc... That is not promoted here. Going against the grain my husband did walk up to the bar and break the rules. Issues with my order: I did make it upstairs because I came for the pizza! I placed an order. Someone else in our group went and retrieved the food. Our order was wrong. Nobody on the first floor is allowed to remedy. I had to go back upstairs. They let us keep the wrong pizza and made us a new pizza. Nice right? Well that meant I missed out on the pizza I wanted being hot. Also they did give me my money back for one pizza. The second pizza I did have hot but it was not that great. Even cold- pizza one tasted better. Cooked differently. Inconsistent. Pizza one was a salt bomb which we ended up loving! bacon and salami. Crispy edges and the right amount of sauce. We have a new favorite combo. Super loud inside. Overall I think Surly is too big for their britches. I like small brewery vibes better.

Yelp
I've enjoyed Surly's beers from back when they started in Brooklyn Center. I knew they were not cheap, but still, $20 for a stein was a bit of a shock. After reflecting , it's not out of line with beer prices in other bars, but it was too big for me after being California sober much of the summer. The beer garden and stage area is really lovely. I was there for the music, specifically FenixDion. Since it was Surlyfest, it may have been more crowded than usual. I didn't see any hope of getting a table to try the taproom food, but luckily there is the pizza option too. That also seemed a little pricey at $19 for a Neapolitan style 12", however, it was upscale in taste as well, the sausage was especially memorable. I took part of it home with me, telling myself I'd let my son try it. That didn't happen, ended up eating it all! There is plentiful everything here. Parking, bathrooms (shiny clean), eating spaces. The staff seemed a little stressed, though they were getting it done. Again, this was Surlyfest so it was likely a busier Saturday than usual.
google avatar

Erica M.

Yelp
Great service and really friendly bartenders ! Ample parking which is nice . I enjoyed that my server shared recommendations with me based off the style of beers I like .
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Surley is one of my favorite breweries and I always try to visit when in the Minneapolis area. This brewery is massive, with plenty of parking and seating both inside and out. They have a large variety of styles, and the staff is willing to offer suggestions if needed. They have food downstairs, but the real winner is the upstairs area, which serves delicious New Haven style pizza.. Visiting Surly is one of my highlights of a Minnesota trip. I just wish they sold their beer in Georgia.
google avatar

Zach G.

Yelp
Beer is incredible here (except the farmhouse sour, only the 4th or 5th beer in my life I've not finished). But everything else drink wise was great! Now the food... I was extremely disappointed. I got the orange chicken which was $16 and was upset to see 5-6 pieces of chicken and a spoon of rice. I was still hungry and ordered tortilla chips but they were so salty and over seasoned I could barely finish them, but since I was hungry just powered through. My wife and buddy ordered pizza from upstairs and both loved it though. So maybe stick with the pizza. The ordering method was kinda of cool with a QR code unique to each table and have a running tab on your card. It was a bit loud in there, but it had a cool "gift" shop inside and awesome views of the brewing rooms. With how bad the food was I want to give a 3 star, but the beer was good enough to bring it back up to 4.
google avatar

Cindy P.

Yelp
Came here with some friends after dinner. I am not a beer person so I just got a mocktail (there was only one option to choose from). Personally it was not my favorite but I loved the vibes here! There are plenty of seating and even though it was busy we got seated right away. If you are a beer person there are plenty of options! I would love to come here again and try out the food. Such a fun place to hangout with friends and they have a nice outdoor seating area! The service was great. They stopped by multiple times with refills and all the staff is friendly. Plus there is a very big parking lot... I would definitely try this place out if you want to hang with friends or grab a couple drinks.

Yelp
We hadn't been to Surly since before the pandemic, largely due to their union busting efforts. It was time to get back on the horse! First off, their outdoor space is incredible. It's spacious, has tons of seating, & is just really nice. The indoor space is also large with plenty of tables, so we had no trouble finding a spot. They also have the QR code ordering system now, which can be annoying for some folks, but I love it. There was also a server who stopped by to check on us fairly regularly, so I'm sure you could also order that way if you needed/wanted to. Our server was also excellent, so that's a huge plus! We ordered a few beers and some food, all of which were really tasty. I will say that their beer menu was lacking; they seemed to be out of everything but their flagships. Anyway, we ordered: --mahi mahi tacos: I was a bit disappointed in the proportion of fish to toppings; that being said, I loved the coleslaw & sauces, so that wasn't the worst thing in the world --Korean fried chicken sandwich: the sauce was zesty and delicious, the bun was fluffy, & the chicken itself was moist with crispy breading --hog frites: I can't lie, the toppings listed gave me pause. Once we tried everything, though, it went together so well! The veggies were especially surprisingly tasty with Surly's classic seasoned fries

Yelp
Stopped by Surly Brewing after visiting the Ice Castles in St. Paul for a beer and supper. It is a cool Beer Hall with tons of seating and lots of artwork and lights. The beer list is extensive with a choice for everyone. My favorite was the nitro coffee ale. The menu had lots of different pub style choices. My favorite was the brisket queso. Service was fine, we were a bit put off by the guy at the front door. He was very awkward and not welcoming. Our server was decent. I'd like to go back when the weather would allow for outdoor seating.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
Got surprised by my wife with the lunch spot being another pizza joint I've been wanting to try. First the I'm your daddy, this was great, nice char on the edge to give some bitter notes to complement the sweetness of the honey. It had a nice airiness and undercarriage with wonderful chew. 2nd was the Don't feed them at midnight, exactly like a jalapeño popper pizza should taste. These were both homeruns!
google avatar

Anita C.

Yelp
Popped in here while visiting MN and we were so glad we did! It was an early Sunday evening. They had fires going on outside and so many beers inside. They did have pizza which we wanted to try but had eaten. It looked delicious!! I loved their gift shop. Whoever is designing their clothes is full of fun ideas. We left with several tshirts and stickers. Bar staff was very knowledgeable. We weren't sure what to order . They had some great suggestions.
google avatar

Kurt S.

Yelp
My friends and I took the brewery tour and had some drinks at the Surly Brewery last month and it was an awesome experience. The young lady giving the tour was super knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. It was cool walking around the brewery and seeing how their beer was made. The samples at the end of the tour were really good as well. After the tour, we grabbed a table and ordered a couple more drinks as well as the freaking brisket queso, which blew our freaking minds. It was soooo good. Seriously, if you are ever at the brewery, you have to try it. I command you to. This was an awesome experience all around and I can't wait to go back and try some other fresh brews.
google avatar

Kate K.

Yelp
Such an amazing brewery with an awesome selection of beer brewed right there! They have a great patio outside with some bags games set up and lots of seating. There are quite a few different places to order, so you can typically get a beer pretty quickly. My favorite part is their outdoor concert series. They bring in some great artists and it's so fun to attend an outdoor concert on their field in the summertime!
google avatar

Holly E.

Yelp
Everything you want from a local brewery. Tons of space. QR code ordering. Extensive food options. Great beer! Super kid friendly.
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
I'm not usually a brewery goer but this place was set as a location to meet up with a group of friends. Thankfully they have a selection of menu items of which are non alcoholic and also a whole food menu on the first level with a pizza menu on the second. There is open seating throughout, mostly with cafeteria style tables both inside and outside. I ordered the Mac and cheese based off the waitress' recommendation and it did not disappoint! Not sure if this description will really make a whole lot of sense for people, but I found the Mac and cheese reminiscent of Boston market but made better and perfected. Our waitress was also very kind and accommodating as our party kind trickled in slowly and she was prompt at getting their orders and serving waters as she noticed their arrival. She even went out of her way to add a dessert item to our check when we asked and this was after she had already closed it out and gave us the bill.

Yelp
We recently returned to and enjoyed our experience. I enjoy the challenging vague descriptions of your food on the menu. I understand the attempt at using culinary terms to describe your food. The food is always very good. I would like to point out one word that you are either misusing or misspellin. You use the word "coolie" in your description of the strawberry/rhubarb sauce for your cheesecake. The word coolie as spelled is a racial slur meaning a low paid uneducated laborer of Asian dissent. The correct word would be the french word Coulis meaning a fruity sauce

Yelp
Came here to meet a few friends and was very impressed. I got a grapefruit cider (can't remember the name) but it was good! We shared some appetizers and both the guacamole and garlic aioli were really good. Between when we ordered drinks and food, it was a little while before someone came back to take our order but it was really busy, so it wasn't a huge deal. Overall, a cool place and I would love to come back when it is warmer.

Yelp
Came to Surly on a Sunday afternoon to have lunch and a couple of drinks. With the location being so large, we were able to find a table right away. We ordered the OG surly burger, the spicoli pizza, and caesar salad. The pizza and salad were better than the burger. For $15, the burger didn't come with a side nor was it worth the price. It very average tasting and didn't have a ton of flavor. There are much better burgers in the Twin Cities. However, the pizza was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The caesar salad also had the perfect amount of dressing. Overall, I wouldn't order the burger again but I would try more of their pizza and salad offerings!

Yelp
My friends and I went to surly brewing before a concert there. The outdoor patio is my favorite in the city! It's large and spacious with plenty of options for seating. You can order inside or from the waiter that comes to your table. We grabbed a bite to eat before the concert and the beers hit the spot as always!

Yelp
Went to grab some food before an event upstairs and I'm really bummed about how the quality has dropped. I remember the falafel being really flavorful with a great eggplant spread but this time it just wasn't good. Theme of both the pita and fries was "bland". Almost no seasoning at all on either dish. $6 for shoestring fries from a bag where they didn't even add salt is a tall order. The sandwich was overall dry, there were no real flavors outside of frying oil and lack-luster pita. The falafel themselves were an ok texture but tasted bitter and burnt from too-hot oil. Edit: the manager reached out to get my feedback and let me know that they're running QA on the dishes. They've been super friendly and earnest in caring about quality so I'll have to go back and try again soon.

Yelp
Arrived at 6pm on Tuesday and were told they didn't have any tacos available bc they were out of tortillas. We ordered the pork platter and it was terrible. Ribs were hard and seemed like they had been cooked the day before and reheated. Ordered the sausage platter and it was ok. Nothing really interesting- just three sausages with mustard. We've eaten at Surly several times in the past and liked the food but this new menu isn't good.
