Wizard’s Beer Festival Coming to Boston - Eater Boston

"Last year, the duo resurfaced with a new brewery in Sheffield, England. Saint Mars of the Desert, as the brewery is called, has brewed a beer called “Jack D’Or is perhaps not actually dead,” a nod to the flagship Pretty Things beer (but an update on the original recipe)." - Dana Hatic

A true Gem. TOP Quality beer, good people, lovely venue. Dog friendly. Outdoor seating. Loved the place and can't wait to visit again.

I don’t know how I haven’t rated SMOD before. They’re an institution - one of my favourite brewers in the UK, friendly and with a great crew. The taproom is a lovely space right next to where they brew. Usually around 8 beers available at any time, plus a takeaway fridge and merch. Bar snacks (crisps, scampi fries etc) available. Open 10 months a year (closed Jan/Feb) Friday and Saturday without fail. Martha and Dann are the best there is at what they do!

Brilliant place tucked out the way but only 10 minutes away from the town centre. Lovely canals close by also for a walk after. The place itself is very cosy. All of the team are super helpful and give great suggestions and table service. I recommend Treetops new IPA which is super refreshing and not to heavy. Definitely worth checking out for a different experience to any other brewery around Sheffield. You will be well looked after. I dealt with a lovely lady and a nice American gentleman both making my experience wonderful.

Almost certainly the best brewery in the UK seems to have probably the best tap room as well. Wonderful atmosphere incredible beers and lovely staff.

The beer is pretty good, and I feel bad marking down for this but the music they were playing was like some sort of horror torture playlist, and the flashing lights in the window really didn't help. Really spoiled the atmosphere. Will try it again because I can see the potential, but can't recommend it after this experience.

What a lovely place to drink delicious beer! Normally when a craft beer place is in an industrial zone they are the type of place with uncomfortable benches in a cold shed behind a rolling shutter doors. Not here! You walk in to a welcoming front garden setting and if you don't want to enjoy beers outside (with table service) you can enjoy them inside surrounded by loads of Belgian posters and decorations. Great service and the beers speak for themselves! This is a must go for beet lovers when in Sheffield.

If you're into top quality Belgium, German & Czech beers, this is possibly the best brewery in the UK! Phenomenal reinterpretation of styles and just such a 👌 great atmosphere, owners, fellow clientele, and brews. Go.

Hands down, best tap room I've been too, with probably the best beers being brewed in England right now. It you just enjoy a casual drop, it's about a 7 minute taxi from the station and well worth it for the incredibly friendly staff, the gorgeous little dog and the fantastic owners. Beer nerds should make a pilgrimage here as a matter of urgency, especially if you like European and Belgian style beers - you won't find better ones (or fresher ones). We were given a little tour of the brewery too - fascinating and interesting to see them using some novel/traditional methods. I was on a train for about 3.5 hours to get there... Worth every minute.
