The Conservatory

"Titchwell Manor’s formal dining room is a bright, airy space looking out over the walled gardens. Cooking champions local ingredients with seafood from Brancaster Staithe and meat and game from local estates. Unfussy modern classics focus on natural flavours, using a less-is-more approach." - Michelin Inspector

This is the perfect place if you want to feel fully taken care of through out your stay. The rooms are extremely comfortable and clean and the staff and chef outstanding. Two of our group had dietary requirements which were embraced with ease and openness. A breath of fresh air. Thank you Briarfields and Rhiannon (the general manager). We will be back next year. X

I didn't stay in the hotel, my family and I visited the restaurant. There was 11 of us including two kids under the age of 5. The food was excellent, the service was good and the kids loved the play area - big and small. It was an excellent Sunday lunch.

The room was amazing. Very roomy and comfortable. Downside was it only had one small window so a little dark. The restaurant was awful. Food was average and not cheap. On my second evening I went for dinner again. I understand that it was busy but they were more interested in serving outside visitors at the bar than serving me. I walked out. The staff are not very experienced as everything had to be run through the bar manager. I would stay again as it is handy for the Bird reserve and the room was very nice but avoid the restaurant. Eat out.

Have been several times before this visit. We arrived an hour early for our booked afternoon tea at 12. Was greeted by a mature gentleman who I have seen on other occasions. He commented on how early we were, but we booked in and we said we would sit on the terrace and could I have a tea. The tea was a long time being prepared after I reminded him of this. The whole place was quiet but as 12 approached another couple arrived for their afternoon tea, which they promptly got?? at 12.30 I approached this gentleman and asked if our food was ready. His reply was he was waiting for us to tell him we were ready to eat but no one had approached us on the terrace to ask us either!!!??? In our brief exchange, we both got rattled with each other but when he called me "dear" it admittedly annoyed me even further. Our food finally arrived, Compliments to the chef and young female waiting staff. No complaints regarding the food that we finally got at 1. This gentleman then ignored us completely, avoiding eye contact, so nothing back from him???!!! what a shame!!!????

We visited for a special birthday. Paul was friendly and helpful with a cake that I had taken along for the birthday celebrations. We had afternoon tea, the quality of the food is very good and presented well. Sausage roll and cheese straws in the savoury selection. The gluten-free stack had 2 scones. The traditional had one scone. The jam and cream pots needed more in them. We had to ask for additional jam and cream. We also asked for more scones as we felt one wasn't enough. We were charged for these until I asked why we had been charged. Then, the additional cost was removed. The other cakes were delicious in the stack. In my opinion, you need 2 scones in traditional afternoon tea. Some of the waitresses hardly spoke and definitely didn't smile.

Visited today for Fathers Day Lunch.. Parking was a bit of a problem, had to use the Overflow Car Park and walk to the hotel through the field, which wasn’t to bad , not withstanding my wife’s slight mobility issues. Got to say wouldn’t like to do that walk in the rain or wet.|Had to move table as the doors from outside were open and a bit draughty where we were. This, I have to say was achieved by the staff with the utmost courtesy and understanding.|My Pork Sunday Lunch and my wife’s Beef were cooked nicely, the beef may have been rather too well done for some but perfect for her.|All in all, 5 stars for the service and 4 stars for the food. Parking tricky. I hope they take into account the number of older customers who visit this hotel and make enough Blue Badge Parking spaces available.

I stayed here recently as part of a birding holiday group. Overall I found the hotel to be nice with friendly staff but in all honestly they seem a bit understaffed. The service for our meals was very inconsistent. This often left the group feeling rushed as we had to meet our trip guide by a specific time. Additionally, the vegan options were very limited and what was offered to me in terms of choice wasn't great. It should be said that most of the meat eaters in my group enjoyed the food they ordered.

We had a wonderful stay here. Service, room and food exceeded all expectations. Wonderful staff. I highly recommend this place for a stay / dinner / drinks! Consider going that little bit further from Thornham for something much better! Just lovely!
