Google
Stumbled upon Bricco Salumeria & Pasta Shop in a cozy alleyway and had an excellent experience. I ordered a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich with olive oil on a ciabatta roll, and it was fantastic. The bread was fresh and bursting with flavor, and the prosciutto was cured perfectly and delicious. The shop itself has a great selection of artisan breads, pasta, and other Italian delicacies. The staff were friendly and helpful, making the visit even more enjoyable. Definitely a hidden gem worth visiting if you're in the area!

Google
After walking through a narrow brick alley I found this little Italian market tucked in the back of the Bricco restaurant. There is a lot of fresh homemade food here. When we arrived, an older lady was working behind the counter. She didn’t talk or smile much, but I have come to expect that in the more traditional environments within Boston. I ordered the Italian sandwich, paid with my credit card and she proceeded to put it together. There is no seating so we walked to a park nearby and ate. Not the best Italian I’ve had but it was good. Nothing about it wowed me. Maybe their other sandwiches are better. The price is great and there was no wait compared to seeing the lines on a Saturday night at the nearby restaurants. I’d give this place a solid 4.5 because I will always try to support these little hole in the wall establishments over the nice sit down restaurants.

Google
The sandwich was as good as people have said. The meats, while not packed on, is tasty and the overall sandwich is well balanced with meat, cheese, veggies and the oil vinegar dressing. The bread had body but was eat and it handled the dressing well. There is a sign above the alley and you go down a little bit and the Salumeria is to the right and the bakery is to the left, down some stairs.

Google
Good sandwich is good! Their sandwiches are pretty straightforward, and the stare is really the bread they use. I got the Italian, which is a good amount of food. The space is a little cramped, it's charming, but definitely get your food and leave. That's the vibe: get your food, get out, get eating. Overall, I great place to swing by!

Emily Anderson

Google
The sandwiches are the best. The bread, meat and peppers were fantastic. They have a shop down the alley and theres a bakery across the way... don't miss it! Great selection of olive oil, various meats and a wide selection of other Italian goods!

Google
Found this little underground gem in the north end. I was super hungry at 10:30am and couldn’t decide where to spend my hard earned cash. I decided to go for a sfogliatella since I’d never had it before. It’s a crispy pasty with an orange cinnamon ricotta filling. Perfect eat as I romped the streets of Boston. It satisfied my fruity pastry craving for only $3

Google
I got the Italian sandwich, and it was pretty good. I liked all the different flavors in the sub.

Google
Huge sandwich!! We should have ordered just one between the two of us, but we ordered two! We hung onto the other one and ate it a little later. But the bread was delicious, the meat, the olive oil, amazing! And such a fun hole in the wall place.

Yelp
Hands down, the best sandwich I've ever had! We were in town for the weekend and met a lovely couple who told us about Bricco's. The gentleman recommended the Italian and Panino sandwiches. We flew them back home to California, and our only regret is not getting more! I loved the walk down the alleyway to find this little gem of a shop - it felt like something straight out of Harry Potter movie. The smell of fresh bread from next door drew us in first, but we were advised to head over to the actual sandwich shop. There were so many tempting items to buy, but we knew we couldn't carry them all back home. There was even a walkway leading to a restaurant, but we didn't have time to check it out since we had to catch our flight. I don't think there's anything like Bricco's here in the Bay Area, so we'll definitely be back, Boston!

Peter W.

Yelp
The three different sandwiches we ordered were very tasty, however, the quantity of meat on each sandwiches was minimal. I would definitely order from them again, but I think the ratio of bread to meat needs to be equalized a little. We're there was just a little more quantity of meat added to the bread, the sandwich meat flavor would not be overpowered from the bread. All-in-all, we did enjoy the sandwich's and would be happy to order them again. As this was our first visit, we did struggle to locate the storefront.

Yelp
One of the most underrated spots in the North End -- we grabbed a Panino sandwich before heading to TD Garden for a game and were amazed by the freshness and genius simplicity of the prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato, and bread. For the price, it's one of the best value meals in the city -- plus, it gives you an excellent reason to stop by nearby Bova's or Modern for dessert afterwards!

Laurie E.

Yelp
Wow! This deli is everything we were looking for and more. Maria who works the deli also offers Italian Food tours of Little Italy in Boston. She is so knowledgeable and friendly I was just sorry we met her on our last 2 hour in Boston. The bakery is separate and just down a few steps where the fresh SFOGLIATELLE is amazing!!!this is all tucked down Board Alley next to Modern Bakery. They also offer a full sit down Italian restaurant and suites to stay in authentic N End accommodations. Try felt like we were in Sicily!

Michael L.

Yelp
A small group of us were doing a food tour of the North End and this was our first stop. We shared a Panino and an Italian. The Panino has priscuitto, homemade mozzarella, fresh tomato, basil, and olive oil all in a fresh white bread roll. The Italian has mortadella, Genoa salami, sopressatta, provolone, lettuce, tomoto, onion, hot peppers, olive oil, vinegar, and oregano in a fresh white bread roll. Overall these were both high quality, delicious sandwiches. We paired them with truffle potato chips and it was delicious. I actually think that the sandwich can be improved upon by having some different bread options. I know, this is probably a sacrilegious suggestion! Perhaps I'd have to attempt this by my own but purchasing the raw ingredients from them and doing it myself.

Monica L.

Yelp
Really giant sandwich for only $13!!! Half of this sandwich was enough to be decently full! Also the prosciutto wasn't too salty, was nice and thin, the mozzarella was creamy and fresh! I wish there was more basil but solid sandwich Very cute interior of the shop, lots of fun specialty items to look at Service was very quick and there was no line for us (but we went on a weekday lunch)

Kate A.

Yelp
Stopped in while in little Italy. I first stopped in at the bread shop across the hall, but then was attracted to this side. We were heading home, but I was able to buy some packaged fresh pasta. I chose the squid in linguine and the orcciette. When I got home, I made both and my children loved it. They were absolutely delicious. I really wanted to bring some salami with me, but I didn't have any space but I definitely will next time.

Lauren S.

Yelp
A fantastic quaint sandwich shop hidden in the North End. Although it's a bit hard to find, it's worth it once you do!

Claire C.

Yelp
If I lived in Boston I would be here every other day for lunch. This is one of the best Italian sandwiches that I've ever had! The meat and veggies were all very fresh, and the bread was delicious. I will definitely be going back next time that I'm in Boston. The deli itself was adorable!! So many different Italian ingredients and pastas and products! Again, if I lived here I would definitely be in every day shopping or grabbing lunch. Definitely stop if you're in the area!

Molly C.

Yelp
Went into the city on a north end Sandwich adventure & had to try Bricco's. First, the bread was delicious & fresh. The mozzarella was also fresh & added flavor. The reason for the missing star was that the bread overwhelmed the rest of the sandwich. I think going back to get another- I'd ask for more balsamic or a few extra veggies given we were not adding meat. All in all, it's a good deal and a fun experience to get to which adds to the charm and adventure!

Will M.

Yelp
Went to the bakery side and felt like I was taking a trip to Italy. Got what I would describe as a pastry on steroids with a lemon ricotta filing. Flakey on the outside but super dense on the inside. The actual name is a sfogliatine. Any bread lover should check this place out.

Matt J.

Yelp
Hidden Gem in the north end, nice selection in the store, friendly staff and good sandwiches. Sandwiches had fresh bread, fresh mozzarella and a just enough cold cuts; you can't really ask for a better deal for only 12.95.

Holly K.

Yelp
Ordered a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich yesterday, and was really disappointed. The quality of both the cheese and the meat was really high end, I loved both. However, the sandwich came with ONE small piece of cheese (see picture), that's IT. Really skimped out when there are only 2 ingredients in the sandwich. Luckily I had asked for extra prosciutto (and paid for it), otherwise my sandwich would've been a big bite full of bread. Store is also a little unorganized inside. I had called in my order over the phone, yet had to wait in the same line as every else ordering. There was a second line by the door, and people seemed confused which line to stand it. Wouldn't return here; the price isn't worth it if you don't get any of the ingredients you asked for.

Kevin C.

Yelp
The world's best Italian sandwich awaits you down an alley, next to a bakery that bears its name and prepare to be transported into another dimension of Italian goodness. You order simply by staring your sandwich. No crap like: What kind of bread to do want, what kind of meat, Mayo?? None of that crap. These kind of questions only serve to enable the sandwich eater to shoot themselves in the foot. You get it the way they think it should be done and it's done damn right. The way GOD intended. Why? Because they know.

Brittany S.

Yelp
Sharing an unpopular opinion here. We had read the reviews about their sandwiches and thought that would be a perfect little picnic snack to enjoy in the cozy courtyard located outside this small sandwich shop. We ordered a prosciutto, mozzarella and basil sandwich. Unfortunately, there were two little leaves of basil, and the tomatoes seemed on the older end, despite it being fresh tomato season. The sandwich was lacking the flavor you would come to expect from an Italian sandwich. I think had there been much more basil and fresher tomatoes. It would've been a different experience. The shop location down at Cozy little alley memorable and I love that the pasta shop features a large window where you can eat your meal and watch them work their pasta magic. The same, quite a while to make despite they're not being very many customers and the order being fairly simple. Overall, this was an A-OK experience, but I had hoped for more.

Mal L.

Yelp
We came here while visiting to try their italiano, and it didn't disappoint. The bread was fresh, and everything was hand cut. I can't wait to come back just for these.

Scott W.

Yelp
I loved my time in Boston and walking in the north end we stumbled across this little shop by mistake. Down a narrow alley way we discovered this gem. The subs were amazing, what else can I say? My mouth was watering as I looked over the counter to watch them building our sandwiches. Thank you Boston for everything! This is a great place to visit.

Jimmy M.

Yelp
My new favorite sandwich in town! The Panino Lady (caprese) is perfect. The bread is so fresh and tasty, while the sandwich itself feels like it has the freshest sandwich ingredients around. Each bite is delightful, and it's perfectly sized (average eaters might do half, but those with larger appetites can eat the full thing without feeling stuffed). The two employees are a treat - they put so much care into the sandwiches, prepared foods, and service of customers. I regularly grab a delicious Panino Lady, or stop downstairs to get a baguette to make my own at home. Once you try their sandwiches, it'll be tough to compare any other in the North End.

J T.M. R.

Yelp
I could write them a love letter, but instead I'll leave a review. This is always a must-stop every trip we come back. I usually hit it 3+ times in a weeks time. The panino sandwich is my favorite, and the Italian sandwich is a close second. They have the most insane selection of pasta, fresh, and all the ingredients you'd ever want to serve at dinner. Exclusive exotic olive oils, sausages, you name it. They don't miss. 100% authentic Italian spot. You will absolutely come back again and again if you know what's good for ya! Staff is straightforward, they are quick and hard at work. Not here to cupcake. They are slammed usually, but we'll worth the wait, if there is one. Don't be afraid to walk down a skinny alleyway for some of the best bread, sandwiches, and pasta! The Bricco suites are also right there, so if you're staying there, you're in luck. You don't need to walk far for an amazing meal.

Quan P.

Yelp
Sandwich was great. It's enough to feed 2 people. Service is lacking. Not very friendly. Small little place in an ally. You're miss it if you don't pay attention.

Paul C.

Yelp
I loved this Italian salumeria (deli) at the end of a narrow alley. There is a small area with two picnic table where you can enjoy your deli items. It is a dark alley that you might see in a movie, but we felt safe. We enjoyed our authentic Italian sandwiches there. The biggest surprise is my daughter saw one of Remy's relatives scurry under her feet.

Danae S.

Yelp
Wow, this place had an amazing ambiance. It was in an alleyway! Loved the area to sit. The Panino sandwich was huge and the bread WAS SOOOOOO GOOD. My mom and I split it and it was the perfect amount.

Austin K.

Yelp
I had the panino here - even though, it seems like there's not a long line to order (maybe 5 people ahead of us), it took ~25 minutes to get our sandwich, presumably because of phone orders. I'm not sure why the sandwich ($13) was so mediocre given presumably fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, and Italian bread. Somehow, it was both overly salty from the meat, but the bread was also so bulky at the same time. We had olive bread from the bakery next door, which was amazing, so it was even more of a surprise. Cash only.

Gillian V.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch. Recommended by a friend-- good thing bc we never would have found it down the alleyway! Had exceptional sandwiches reasonably priced. Best bread ever!!

Maddie V.

Yelp
This is my go to sandwich place in the north end. It is a little hidden and down a small alleyway with a couple of tables. The staff is always friendly and you can pick up and deli meats you might need while grabbing a sandwich. The prices are also very reasonable for the area and I normally have enough for 2 meals. I love the panino and you can ask for balsamic on it with no extra charge.

Elaine M.

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches, fresh made bread filled high with homemade chicken cacciatore or meatballs as well as Italian cold cuts. Also available for take-out or large size catering platters of pasta, eggplant , olives, vegetables and Italian salami, pepperoni etc. The best sandwich for a great price in the North End.

Kevin B.

Yelp
I love those food items that are just a few ingredients but all the ingredients are so good and high quality they create the best thing ever. That panino I just ate from Bricco was one of the best sandwiches ever. Crispy, European-style bread, salty prosciutto, sharp provolone and fragrant basil come together not like a high school band but like an award-winning symphony. Although I don't like spending over $10 on foods like sandwiches which I can easily make at home (though in this case, no way as good), these sandwiches are massive and could be shared with another person. And you should because they'd be really impressed with you.

Briana L.

Yelp
This spot is definitely a hidden gem. I've only ever gotten the sandwiches which include the Chicken Parm, Panino, Meatball, and Porchetta. All of them were amazing, but my personal favorite was Panino. They sizes are pretty big and usually end up around $10-$12 per sandwich which is totally fair for the quality and the size. One sandwich is usually enough for 2 meals for me. They also do catering, which is something I'll definitely plan to try in the future of because how good the food is.

P K.

Yelp
by far this place has the best sandwiches! it's a must try. my favorites is the Italian sandwiches. in my book so far it's my number 1 place.

Jen R.

Yelp
What a surprise where this is down a narrow alleyway. It's part of the Bricco group of restaurants. I checked this place out. It's a compact place that does great sandwiches and you can pick up pastas and more. It's basically buy your stuff and go. Across the way is the bakery take the stairs down and bam it's right in front you. They were written up in Bon Appetit Magazine recently and the breads:pastry are excellent. I had hoped while there I could pick up some tagitelli (dried) unfortunately the did not have any but they had other things I wanted. I paid for everything with cash as most of these places go that way. If you have a chance check it out. I'll be back I want a sandwich.

Chris D.

Yelp
What a find! This is a somewhat hidden, small salumeria and pasta shop, not the large restaurant on the main Hanover street which has the same Bricco name. To get there you have to walk in between two buildings and step down into the small bit very quaint salumeria shop. I had the best panino sandwich From this shop. Very simple sandwich but the ingredients were so fresh, especially the prosciutto. Bread was amazing, crispy crust (not at all chewy) and light but with a hearty bread flavor. Perfect ratio of ingredients to bread. Something so simple came out incredible in taste. In addition to making sandwiches, the shop has a large selection of salami meats, sausages, other deli meats, a variety of stuffed olives. All meats for the sandwiches are cut fresh from the deli. The shop also carried a large variety of dry and fresh pastas, other Italian branded jars of sauces, condiments, and fresh, crusty bread. As there is no seating in the shop itself, they allowed us to sit in the covered patio of a restaurant adjacent to the deli. It was a nice respite to enjoy our sandwiches on very rainy day. I'll be back as there are so many other items and sandwiches to taste.

john r.

Yelp
The sandwiches are gigantic, and taste great. We had a variety, and all met our expectations. It is a little tricky to find, but worth the search.

Todd B.

Yelp
Pro-tip: Grab some salami and cheese and pop next door and pick up some fresh bread for a great picnic. Ambience: 4* Prices: 3* Taste: 5* Good selection of salumi and cheeses and pastas. If I lived close to this place I would frequently patronize it. Stop by and take a look.

Reb K.

Yelp
The cutest hidden Italian market. Fresh pasta and cheese made daily. High quality imports of cheese, oils, vinegars, and Italian pasta and more. We love this spot it's a site to see when you walk down Hanover street, don't miss it! And be sure to try out one of their sandwiches too!

J S.

Yelp
What has happened to what use to be good sandwiches? Got an Italian sandwich today and very disappointed with the amount of cold cuts. Seriously, when I looked at the sandwich only one slice of mortadella along with couple of other cold cuts and way too much bread. They use to build a good sandwich, but since quality has diminished that will be the end of visiting there.

Joe C.

Yelp
True Score: 4.5 Stars How can you beat a true Italian deli that has its own crowning achievement of a bakery attached? Serving fresh sandwiches on nearly hot out of the oven bread. The Italian "sub" is ridiculous. This shop is hidden in an ally off Hanover behind their sister restaurant. It has a huge selection of meats, cheeses, olives, pasta and other Italian favorites. They also have a selection of prepared foods and sandwiches. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and there seemed to be a good number of locals shopping - which is always a good sign. They are pricy, but no more so than other stores with similar offerings. Be sure you go across the alley to visit their bread shop as well. Is supplies bread to many local restaurants and sells directly as well. You definitely can't lose here. Find the narrow alley and don't be afraid to walk down. What you come out with will be special. Thanks

Joy Y.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches and definitely worth your money - the portions were huge!! A hidden gem tucked behind an alley

Wendy B.

Yelp
This sandwich shop was recommended to us by a couple who hit the nail on the head with every recommendation they gave us. We almost missed the entrance to the shop as it was Hidden down an alley in between two brick buildings. When walking in I felt like I was whisked off to another country. This place is a true authentic Italian deli. My daughter ordered the Panino with prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, tomato and basil on a fresh roll. I happily got the Italian which looked to have every meat and topped with peppers. The sandwiches were bigger then my head. We took our sandwiches and made our way back to the hotel. I am not a big sandwich person but these were full of flavor and for how big they were we finished the sandwiches in record time. On our last day we ordered sandwiches which we took on the plane to share with our friends a family back home. This place is a must if you are in the North End of Boston! You wont be disappointed.

Erin P.

Yelp
Came here with a few friends from college based on a recommendation from a friend from Boston. This place is located in the alley behind Bricco restaurant. When you walk in, you're immediately greeted by countless different types of olives, cheeses, meats, and dry pasta. We came here for sandwiches. I got the Italian sandwich, and my friends got the panino and chicken parm. We walked down to the greenway to enjoy our sandwiches and omg they were DELICIOUS. The quality of everything, the bread, the meat, the cheese, was immaculate. They were also huge sandwiches and they hit the spot after walking around Boston all day. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Emma S.

Yelp
I am very disappointed. I was looking forward to this sandwich shop since I had heard very good things - I ordered the Panino, and will not come back. There are much better places in the North End for sandwiches. There was barely any basil OR tomatoes, and the mozzarella was SO thinly sliced. The bread was way too chewy - I was expecting much higher quality since they have a bakery attached and SELL FRESH BREAD. On top of that, they had poor customer service when I came back and showed them the state of my sandwich.

Fred M.

Yelp
Absolutely THE best sandwiches in Boston. The vegetables and meats are delicious and the bread is from the adjacent bread shop next door, Bricco Panetteria. All of the above adds up to a home run meal!

Anna F.

Yelp
Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience here. The place itself is cute, and hidden, and has a lot of awesome looking Italian goodies inside (handmade pasta, olives, etc.) However, the experience ordering sandwiches, and the sandwiches themselves were disappointing. It took a long time, and it was not nice to see the manager yelling at the worker in front of us when she made a mistake. My panino sandwich was underwhelming. The bread tasted a little stale. The olive oil on it was good, and flavorful, but the other ingredients did not really stand out in any way. I thought the prosciutto was cut too thick. I usually love that general combo, but I think the weird bread to filling ratio, and the ingredients that did not pop made this sandwich a bit of a let down, for how cute of a place it was, the fact that the bread bakery was next door, and the fact that this was part of a well-known Italian restaurant group.

Jean H.

Yelp
Ordered a panino for the ride home from my vacation . Disappointed to find out on the way home they forgot the prosciutto

Lauren R.

Yelp
Going through the little alley, you will find one of the most glorious Italian deli, which does not adequately describe this heaven. First off, the smell is FANTASTIC! Fresh bread, whiffs of sauce and meats, flour, peppers and oil. I want to make a candle of this abs burn it in my kitchen to always keep the Italian kitchen smell. sandwiches are THE BEST. A tad pricey but IMO you're getting a steal. I will make it a bucket list item to try the catered lasagna

Nicole Y.

Yelp
* The entrance is down an alley!* Look for the white sign on the brick and the entrance door is down the alley on the right. The staff provide tips and suggestions for items. Highly recommended.

Samantha P.

Yelp
Best sandwiches in the North End! I came here a few months ago because my mom wanted to check it out and get some imported Italian meats and cheeses. They are down a little alley way on Hanover Street. At first I was like where the crazy are we going but then it opens up to the Italian shop and some outside picnic tables. They have such an amazing variety of Italian foods and even fresh homemade pasta. While my boyfriend was visiting this week, I really wanted to try their sandwiches since I have heard so many great things about them. I also read that they are huge, and people aren't kidding! We decided to get an Italian sandwich and split it. Definitely the perfect size for two people! There was no line, we went at noon on a Friday. They also made the sandwich SO fast. The bread was extremely fresh and the crunch of it was delicious. This was easily the best Italian sandwich I've ever had. They are amazingly priced at $11 and I will be going back to try the other ones!

Robbyn K.

Yelp
Honest to G-d the BEST sandwiches in North End....this used to be my favorite place when I'd work weekly in BOS & after yrs away, it did not disappoint. My son got the Italian with meat + cheese only & I got the Panino, we brought them back to our hotel before flying out & my son said "hands down best sandwich he's ever had".... and he is RIGHT. The bread is perfection, service amazing & the Bricco matriarch was on hand with her gorgeous smiling face just as I remembered her. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you to everyone for bring as amazing as ever so my son would understand why I made him ride a train & walk 15 minutes for the best Sammy's ANYWHERE, love you guys!

Bruce K.

Yelp
Popped into Bricco Salumeria (not the restaurant, not the bakery) for some fresh stuff to bring back to the apartment and prepare. It's located down a very narrow alley next to the Bricco restaurant. Today there was a "Voted Best Sandwiches in Town!" sign out front that made it even more noticeable. Shopping with this much yumminess is troublesome. I managed to escape with a package of black pepper fettuccine, some olives and a big jar of fresh bolognese sauce. Back at the apartment, nibbling on olives and heating up the water... my pasta went in, came out, and was topped with a thick, rich and very meaty sauce. Absolutely amazing. Great, fresh dinner from Bricco Salumeria and it was awesome!

Marisa M.

Yelp
Stopped here to buy burrata cheese, got the same exact brand I normally get at the grocery store (I get this cheese all the time) and it was $10 here. when the same exact size and brand is $3.99 at my local grocer! I didn't see the sticker until she rung it up and I felt like putting it back but felt to weird to be like nevermind after I was already buying it, so I just bought it but I feel completely ripped off. I was so shocked by the price I forgot to grab the bag and she laughed and handed it to me, so crazy they are allowed to charge that much compared to the regular price
