I've waited a while to write this review. I have been a patron of the brick house for many many years. I am a lifelong resident of Elk Grove and we have very few establishments that are Elk Grove establishments that aren't chain restaurants
There used to be Vinces and then they closed and then our new favorite became brick house. It was always bustling with locals. You had to wait 35 to 45 minutes for a seat. The food was excellent. The bar was hustling and bustling in the music was great it was Hometown feel that you long for.
Earlier this year, it appears the owners have made a decision that they are going to be a "custom order service oriented establishment" I think I read somewhere. They are very high-end steak houses that offer vegetables alongside the dish, à la cart doesn't always mean a special service sometimes it appears to be cheap.
Literally everything here is à la cart. It has lost that Hometown feel. You would receive a simple salad, but it was excellent in a crisp cold bowl and they're delicious bread and butter and just that hometown ambience with good food you felt special when you went in there you're waitresses or waiters always recognized you and it was a happy welcoming feeling
We went and had dinner last night and my mother and I split a meal and my husband had a simple hamburger hamburger did not come with fries. It came with a hamburger on a plate this time it did include a pickle.
One of the first things I noticed was the bar was completely empty. There were no sounds of bustling people laughing, celebrating their families, celebrating love, and all the things that brick house used to bring to it. It was an empty soul, just like the rest of the world that we live in now , it was sad and felt uncomfortable
The waitresses and waiters seemed uncomfortable. Everybody seemed on edge one of the things that I used to love was that they had good music playing in the background yesterday I felt like I was a Mexican mariachi with Mexican music blaring in the background, which was strange for Brickhouse
Our waitress was lovely, although you could sense that she was stressed that the changes were overwhelming. The staff there.
I hope the managers and owners read these reviews and take them to heart and understand that either they know well that they're not going to be able to continue operating a business this way and they're waiting for it to die off or they realize they need to make a change
I miss all the things about that used to make it so special and stand out and a Hometown feeling that we all along for we all grow old and we all changed, but the one thing we long for is that sense of something we are familiar with
I'm deeply saddened to see what has happened to this establishment and I hope that they can swing it back around sooner than later and that the parking lot is spilling over with people that the bar has no room for seating and there is a 45 minute wait to get a table
Please bring back the old Service that Brickhouse used to offer, adjust the pricing in your menu, but still offer the service that you did a vegetable with your meal, a complementary salad, bread and butter, and all the things that made it a family style restaurant. We understand that the industry is changing and that there may need to be a change to the menu pricing, but don't change that Hometown feeling that everybody comes for please Brickhouse support the community and bring back your old menu
