The Best Chicago Restaurants and Bars Near Wrigley Field | Eater Chicago

"The Brickhouse Tavern stands just north of Wrigley Field’s marquee and Gallagher Way, sharing space inside the Cubs new office building. The patio is lively on game day, but inside Four Corners has created a place that reveres the game with plenty of trinkets from Cubs’ history — Gold Gloves and more. The space is two levels and it’s far from cookie cutter when it comes to design. The menu was created for fan snacking, but with quality ingredients in appetizers like quesadillas and a waffle cone filled with fried chicken. The name is a tribute to the late Cubs broadcaster Jack Brickhouse." - Ashok Selvam

The wife and I stopped in around 7 pm on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately. Service was great, and we quickly had our drinks. They had an excellent selection of about 25 beers on tap, so I needed a few minutes to make that crucial decision. I had the BBQ ribs, and my wife had the fried chicken sandwich. We were both very happy with our selections. The ribs were very moist and tasty. Great place to grab a drink and some food. They also had a great setup to catch a game.

Very cozy and delightful! There is a warm fireplace and the seats are comfortable couches. It was the perfect evening! The menu has a great variety and they do very well with accommodations. The staff went above and beyond, making sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. We were served by Raul and he was very attentive and accommodating. Highly recommend the drunken chops!

Google
First of all, Raul, our waite...Raul was AWESOME. The bartender, El, she made an EXCELLENT Long Island Ice Tea. We ordered the fish & chips, chicken pot pie & a carrot cake to go. The fish and chips were OK. Totally edible but the fries were quite salty. The pot pie was also OK but very thyme and pepper forward flavors. Just a tiny bit less of each of this would have rated the pot pie a very good. However, my husband gave the pot pie 5 stars. We did not eat the carrot cake there but it looks scrumptious! We would DEFINITELY come back for their Long Island Ice Teas. Also we think worth another try at another date. Update: carrot cake was awesome

You're either staying at a hotel nearby or just been hearing about it from the locals. either way, you should do yourself a favor and stop by. yes they are corporate but that doesn't get in the way of quality or atmosphere. the staff are just the right amount of friendly. the draft list is very well curated. (try the dogfishhead seasonal if you're here in July '25. its delicious. their twist on an old fashioned is decent as well. say hi to Joe and Heather at the bar. they are the epitome of customer service.

My absolute favorite restaurant in the world! I live in Indiana and it's over a 3hr drive to Chicago but everytime I'm in Chicago I drive almost the additional 45mins to come to Brickhouse! They never disappoint and everything is perfect from the staff to the food! I definitely love Brickhouse!! I come here everytime I'm in Chicago, I sometimes wish fort wayne would get one!! 100/10!!

Google
We went here after our cheer competition. The food was very good with extremely large portions. The nachos were REALLY GOOD. The chicken and waffles were very good. The pork chop was divine. The chicken wings were reportedly good. The atmosphere wasn't really kid-friendly, but that can be expected at a literal bar. It was all a little bit pricey, but overall it was pretty good 👍🏼😊

Google
We ordered 3 desserts for takeout, and they forgot the ice cream for 2 of them. Mixed Berries Cheesecake was good - Apple Crumble & Ultimate Brownie had no ice cream so it pretty much ruined both desserts.

Google
Raul was an exceptional hostess and waiter. Very tentative and friendly to have interacted with. Being my first time here he made it very worth coming back and enjoy!! Food and drinks were amazing

David B.

Yelp
Service and food were ok. But I thought the food was overpriced. Plenty of open tables on a July 4th evening.

Yelp
Brick house is great! great menu selection, the servers... especially Nick and all friendly and helpful. the Resturant is really clean. I would highly recommend a trip to the tavern. one comment ... the music could be a little lower. other than that, it perfect. inside is pretty!!

Tracy M.

Yelp
Flatbread was black on the bottom. Bread in club sandwich was not toasted. Server took FOREVER to return to order another drink... also to bring the drinks after ordering, despite only about 10 patrons in the entire restaurant. The ambience is fantastic and so are the mozzarella bricks. However, weighing out pros and cons, I will not be back.

Yelp
Need food after checking out the Aurora Chriskindl Market. I just wanted a burger. And got exactly that. A good burger! Stuff was friendly. Decorated for chiristmas, very pleasant atmosphere I enjoyed my meal and my time here. The duck wings... yes!!!! Get them. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
A modern sports pub that is part of the Landry's Restaurant Group . Huge selection of beers and cocktails served with an inventive menu of tavern food. My only complaint is they do not list any prices on the cocktail or specials menu so just ask your server. We were immediately greeted by the hostess when we arrived and were offered a few different seating options. We chose a large open booth near the fireplace. Very comfortable. Our server Heather was outstanding! She answered any questions we had and did not rush us at all. My wife was happy because they have a Gluten Free menu. We started with drinks and their Deviled Eggs appetizer. It normally comes fried but we couldn't due to the gluten. A generous portion of egg whites, candied bacon, jalapendo and paprika. Very flavorful. My wife had the Thai Chicken Salad which was fresh and just the right size with a good amount of chicken. The server suggested the dressing on the side which was a good call. I tried one of their burger specials..The Cowboy Burger which was 2 patties topped with fried onions, bbq sauce and was supposed to have jalapeno sausage but came with extra brisket instead. Either one would have been good. The burgers are huge and came with either fries or tots. I'm glad it tasted so good because I never asked the price when I ordered it and found out it cost me 24.00 which is a little high for a burger but again, the quality was fantastic. The decor represents a hi end sports bar with many TV's throughout and they turn off the sound and play music which is nice so you can have a conversation with your dinner companion. I would definitely recommend The Brick House and I will be back.

Yelp
Food and drinks are great but something changed. It's like the portion sizes got smaller and they took quite a bit off the menu that made their place so great. Not sure if I would be back.

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday for an early dinner with a group of 17 people. Half the table waited 15 after the first half as served. The waiters keep coming around with other orders that did not belong to us and just kind of wandered around to find who they belonged to or Just took them back to the kitchen. The waiters worked hard but there was a miss connect with the kitchen. Dinner took 3 hours.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
Was here for a bday get together on a Saturday. Pretty large restaurant/bar with a nice menu of food and cocktails. If you're looking to have a nice size gathering where there are drinks, food and TVs, this is your place. Ordered the Knockoit shrimp and they were good. Also ordered a Sangria and it was good as well. Prices were fair and comparable to other restaurant/bars. It started to pick up because of the NCAA games that were on so service was a bit slow hence the reason for the star reduction.

Yelp
Great place with great food. The service was great and the restaurant had a lot of booths which were very big. The portions are huge as you can see so you get a lot of food for the money. The limited time Turkey Reuben was Awesome and I loved the fact it didn't have sauerkraut as that is what I don't like. They had a sweet coleslaw instead which made the sandwich phenomenal. Strongly recommend!

Yelp
We came on a Tuesday night and didn't have trouble finding a seat. They have a ton of space for large groups and parties. They have a full bar to sit at too!! Service was very attentive. They were great about refilling drinks and taking orders. Overall, we wouldn't rant and rave about the food but it was pretty decent bar food! We would definitely come back with friends for drinks. It was a fun, young party environment. I could also see it being popular for work groups! There is a "man cave" event space in back for those who want to host parties.
google avatar

Annette M.

Yelp
This is a really cozy well managed tavern. Our server Heather was excellent. She made good suggestions and didn't rush us. Everything came out in a timely manner and was flavorful. I appreciated the gluten friendly menu which is one of the reasons we chose this restaurant. The only small pet-peeve is that there are no prices on the drinks or specials menu. We were kind of surprised at the $24 price of the "special" burger so it is a good thing it was so good.

Yelp
My family comes here once a year right before we do the Illumination lights, and we come in hot with a group of around 20 because we keep growing every year! Ambiance and Service is fantastic. Wide open open space with many seating options. It's more of a dining room sitting area when you first walk in. Have couches/ tables behind the fireplace, which are a nice relaxing spit to have a beer, some appetizers, and watch the games on all the flat screens on the wall. They also have a bar area to sit in, and a back room used more for big parties. Honestly, the place is a great spot for all. The only thing holding them back is the food. If they can bring the flavors up a bit , it would be a 5 star all around. The top 3 things that my family always get are the Chicken Pot pie, the huge pretzel, and the philly.

Yelp
Went with my bestie and the food was delicious! Staff was friendly. I ordered the shrimp po-boy and sweet potato hush puppies & strawberry lemonade. Bathroom very clean.

Yelp
Overall the place is mid nothing too extravagant. I went out with the boys to get away from work and destress. I ordered some wings and some breadsticks we had fun it was Friday night so it was a little packed. The staff was very nice though.

James T.

Yelp
Brick House is the best. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. The wait staff is excellent. The seating area is large and nicely spaced out. Every time we come I have to decide between several favorites. Today Essie stoped by to chat. He is a wonderful guy and really does a fantastic job managing the place. Kudos!

Yelp
came here for lunch. your standard upscale bar food brew house chain. Waitstaff was good. Food was good. vibe was what you would picture in your mind. This is one of those reliable chain spots that you can go to for a business lunch or a beer with friends, but is also one of those places that won't wow you with anything in particular. Ill happily come back as everything was as expected, and what I expected is the kind of food and beer they have available!

Sandra W.

Yelp
horrible service. had a big group , but came early to beat the rush, yet lots of tables turned over before we even got our food. Then one side of the table got served, and we watched them eat, then we got served and they watched us eat...food was fine, once we got it. Still waiting for dessert 2 1/2 hours later...,
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered the Cuban sandwich with fries. The picture in the menu looked a lot better than what served. What a sad presentation when my food arrived, and to top it off, the food was cold. Not my best experience but the my bartender/ server was extremely friendly and was working her tail off to make everyone enjoy their evening.
google avatar

Patti O.

Yelp
We had a pleasant experience. Our server was nice and was great with our daughter. The place was pretty empty for a Monday evening. They had a few specials on the menu, and something I'd never tried before- fried deviled eggs- which was surprisingly good. We were able to get the deviled eggs at the tail end of the Happy Hour. They also provided a small birthday dessert on the house.

Yelp
Great tasting items and entrées. I've had their burgers, sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. Everything is GREAT! Excellent service at the bar and clean restrooms.

Yelp
What a fun lunch at Brick House! While I've never dined in before I was treated to a fun and quite enjoyable experience! The vibe here is boozy times with friends. Their booths are spacious and there are many. There is a roaring fire that still maintains a hint of intimacy in this establishment. My server was Joseph and he was very sweet. Since I dined alone he was sure to give me space, but at the same time willing to accommodate my requests. I started with the Giant Pretzel, and giant it was! This pretzel could easily have fed a family of 4 all in itself. At $11 it makes for a very reasonable priced appetizer. The accompaniments were White Queso and Siracha Ranch which both were delicious with the salty, warm pretzel. I had to stop myself from finishing the whole thing in one sitting! My main entree included the Beyond Burger. I appreciate the toppings on this mammoth burger as it includes cheese, grilled peppers, grilled onions, chipotle aioli, pickles, lettuce, and tomato. The patty was very thick, making it worth its' $18 price tag. It also came with the options of fries or tots. I went with the tots which arrived fresh. While the burger wasn't my favorite, I would return for the pretzel and ambiance alone. I would like to try their other appetizers or another vegetarian option. However, I believe the Beyond is the only vegetarian option. Would love to hang here on a date night or with friends, as this place is pretty cool. I will return.

Yelp
This huge tavern had a roaring warm fireplace and brick appointments and lots of tvs. The restaurant was clean with friendly staff. I was with a group of 16 and we didn't have to wait long. The staff pushed some tables together and we were seated. I noticed my group enjoyed the beer. One person ordered a huge pretzel which was good for photos. I ordered a savory chicken pot pie which was delicious with rosemary in an iron clad pan. I couldn't finish it because there was so much food. I got a styrofoam container. The staff didn't wear masks. I hope that the restaurant considers more environmental containers and serving filtered water.

Yelp
First time here, interesting layout. Food was great, service was very sub-par. Our water filled once, our server never came around to grab our dirty plates after our apps. Just sat at edge of table entire time. Honestly, place wasn't that busy. Our server was very dull, never introduced herself. Just not friendly. I also left my hat in our booth. Called immediatley when I arrived home. Manager explained nobody turned anything in. I called the following day and same Manager said nothing was turned in. (I get it, I lost it) however, I asked if they could see the camera..I had the receipt for our table location and time we left so it would be easily accesible to view. The Manager related that their systems were down and didn't have access to cameras. Find it hard to believe/very concerning their cameras don't work. Either way, lost a nice hat here and definitley not getting it back.

Yelp
Appetizer were delicious, mozz sticks, knock out shrimp, hot wings, dessert delicious. Amanda our server was courteous and attentive

Yelp
Can I just say all 4 stars go to Danielle, our fabulous bartender. Both time we have been here since Covid the bartenders have been the reason to come. Now for the food... Good-Philly cheesesteak and fries, hubby loved. Sad-Burger without the bun. It's a double with fabulous toppings, but mine came out with burger patties about 2.5" wide (smaller than the tomato slice) and a bit over cooked. It was enough to make it a healthy single, then it might have been easier to not over cook. I'd rather have a well cooked single than a overcooked double slider. Really disappointed:( Would have given 2 stars if not for Danielle's great service!

Yelp
I went on a Monday evening and it was not crowded and such a peaceful place. We could talk without yelling because the music wasn't cranked up so high. The bartender was friendly and took great care of us. Even when we moved over to a booth (which are actually more like couches. They have a nice outside sitting area among with many tall tops on far side of bar. We had a huge pretzel and the spicy shrimp served over coleslaw. It was great!

Yelp
Love coming here! Have been quite a few times over the years. Everytime we come here service is amazing. Most recently my bf & I sat at the bar & the last two times our bartenders were phenomenal.....***Dominique & Dani*** (spelling)! They rock. Very attentive. Friendly, energetic. And can I just comment on their nachos. So so good! Love that they have a fireplace. Great atmosphere for the winter months. Also great place to come for events. Not to mention have enjoyed coming over the years in the summer and sitting on their patio. Huge fan! Highly recommend!

Nina P.

Yelp
The food, drinks and service here was excellent. The calamari is so good. We went on a Friday night and our waitress was great. She left us alone to chat even after we had settled the bill. The couches by the fire place are great .

Yelp
Awesome sports bar with a zillion tv's .. We ordered apps .... Tavern Wings & Nachos to begin... I had Brick Burger...delicious...my friend had a Thai Chicken Salad ...she liked the peanut sauce & honey lime vinaigrette... Service was attentive Can't go wrong here for a football game & lunch !!!

Yelp
We were in the area and I am Landry's Select Club member so we stopped in for Saturday lunch. Its very spacious, well decorated, and the fireplace is a nice touch. Our server was great, our drinks came out fast. They have a pretty decent specialty drink menu and we had a couple fun drunks. We ordered the wild mushroom flatbread, - which was really flavorful and the crust was excellent. We had the pretzel and dipping sauces and the spicy shrimp. The portion sizes were large and we split all these items between two of us and still took some home. We will definably be back on another trip!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was par for the course. The restaurant itself is very nice! Good for happy hour or meeting g for drinks!

Yelp
Held our 20 year high school reunion here and had a great time. Essie and his team were wonderful. The atmosphere, food and service were exceptional. Would highly recommend considering the space for group parties or events. Great time all around!

Talia D.

Yelp
Website says they close at 11pm. The sign on the door says they close at 11pm. Tell me why people are getting turned away at 9:45? "Kitchen is closed." I watched three groups get turned away. Either update your website and the sign on your door or serve people until 11. Wtf?

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon with some friends and we were served pretty quickly even with them having a mini wedding party to handle and the place being about half capacity. We ordered some drinks where I got the bloody Mary and was drooling over the fact that it was about to be loaded with a deviled egg and some other great garnishes. When they came out, it was definitely garnished incorrectly. Our server, Karen was quick to remedy it by bringing out the deviled eggs but they ran out of stock of the rest of the garnish. That was quite depressing since it was a Saturday and I figured they'd stock up for the weekend. Either way, the bloody was just what I was looking for during that time so that in combination with the deviled egg left me satisfied. Time for the food. I ended up splitting the fried zucchini ribbons, Buffalo meatballs, and the chicken pot pie with one of my friends. All 3 of the dishes were fantastic. I've never seen zucchini ribbons but they were a fantastic touch to have enough breading and crispness. Oh did I mention that the plate of ribbons is massive for the price? We were nowhere near finishing them. By the end of the meal. I would definitely order that and one small thing for the table next time. The Buffalo meatballs were tender and loaded with Buffalo which is exactly how I like my Buffalo. Tender and saucy. Well done albeit in smaller proportion than the ribbons but still good. By the time the chicken Pot pie came out, I was pretty much stuffed from the ribbons. Still I had to try the pot pie because it looked absolutely delicious and the crust looked perfect. Like I thought, the crust when I dug into was heavenly. Crispy, flaky, and was a beautiful mix of pot pie to amazing crust. I was absolutely stuffed after a couple bites so I had to take it home to eat later. As expected it's hard for the crust to hold up after reheating but I expected as much. The pot pie was still delicious after the fact though which was nice. Other than the small hiccups with our drinks and possibly waiting too long to collect our payment from the table (I'm talking like 30 minutes), this was a pretty solid place that I would come back to try some of the other dishes too.

Yelp
Came here with a really large group. Was a great experience and highly recommend if hosting a party. Staff was super friendly and efficient and the manager was awesome to work with. Great food and drink specials during happy hour. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Normally I have have OK experience here but tonight Jennifer & Daniella was not for it Every Thursday a group of Ladies & Girls pick a place to dine and hang out. The last time they came a few weeks prior Joe gave such amazing service they had to come back. Today to food was Subpar , under seasoned and not Hot(temperature). The server Jennifer was so inattentive by the time she returned the food was sitting so long we just sucked it up a ate what we were going to. Drinks were good.. nothing special. This biggest issue came with bill payment, it was never expressed Split checks would be an issue. So trying to use the QR code on the receipt failed while the server was using the POS for the few cards. She took a card and their receipt only to charge a whole other seat at the POS. How ??? You have 1 bill and card in your hand. Paying became an issue all around d. When Daniella stepped in as the Bar Manager she just indicated charges were reversed and the lady can pay correctly again. The system just does that sometimes Overall the lack of hospitality was at an all time HIGH As much as I used to enjoy Brickhouse, the service has consistently declined over the years. And that sucks because he Wings with bricksauce were always good

Yelp
We received a gift card for Christmas and decided to give the Brick House a try on a Friday evening. I even made reservations for 8PM. We arrived a few minutes late and were surprised to see so few people dining. The bar area was fairly full, but the restaurant only had diners at maybe a dozen booths and the tables were all empty. No one was waiting for new guests but after a minute we were greated and seated in a pleasant spot adjacent to the fireplace. Shirley appeared promptly, introduced herself and offered menues. Shirley did a lovely job throughout our dining experience. She had a pleasant smile, took our orders and followed up to make sure all was well. Later offering desert. All in all, five stars for Shirley. We started with the Homerun appatizer with Classic meatballs, chicken tenders, white queso and chips, mozzarella bricks with spicy marinara. Um, the marinara wasn't spicy really but it was good. The queso was excelent. For my entre I had the THAI CHICKEN SALAD with dressing on the side. It sure was crunchy and fresh. I wanted something light and this fit the bill perfectly. Virgilio ordered the SEARED ATLANTIC SALMON with Jasmine rice & green beans. He said it was ok, the green beans were good. He finished all of it and didn't complain lol. All in all, a well deserved four star experience.

Yelp
Brick House manages to feel both enormous and cozy, thanks to its spacious layout and giant fireplace, as well as booths that resemble actual little couches. The food is on par with any fast casual seated restaurant. We got the mozzarella bricks and jumbo pretzel to start. They were fine. For my main, I got a Philly cheesesteak with no onion (which came with onion, but I could reasonably pick it out). Someone at our table got chicken and waffles that looked AMAZING. The chicken pot pie and beyond burger rounded out our entrees and those were a-okay too. It was a Friday night, but later than the dinner rush and the restaurant had cleared out significantly, but service was rough. I will say, the manager ended up mostly taking care of our table and he was hauling to get stuff done. It's a decent restaurant and we'll likely be back if a group decides it's where we're going, but not exactly a destination to go out of your way for.

Jazmin G.

Yelp
Service was great! Colin was an awesome waiter, very professional, and engaged well with our table. Would highly recommend him as a waiter!

Yelp
My husband and I walked in at 6 pm tonight. We were excited to try the food here, but we were never able to do so. We were seated for 15 minutes, and not a single server approached us. We walked out.

Yelp
The dick wings are AMAZING. We have been here a few times with different friend groups and they all enjoyed the food. I am a big fan of the shrimp Street tacos. Nice service, nice Ambiente and good food. Drink menu is really great as wrll
google avatar

Bailey M.

Yelp
I had a burger here and it was very mediocre to me. Perfectly formed patties remind me of frozen patties and are just a no no for me. I didn't like the consistency or texture if the burger and didn't think the meat had much flavor. The deviled eggs were ok but not something I would order again. Huge space with tons of televisions. Great place to drink, watch sports, and fill your stomach with any food.

Yelp
Um if ever in the area please stop and eat here! Food is delicious. Service is right on. Please be patient a bit short staffed but bartender "Danny" (Danielle) made it look good!!!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
I ordered the shrimp and grits...I was served shrimp and sauce. No grit to be found in the entire dish. I had to ask for a small dish if grits. Then I realized that their grits are just runny. Ugh!
google avatar

Miranda C.

Yelp
Great American restaurant! Will definitely be back! PROS: -Fun decor and atmosphere. -Huge space. Safely spread out for Covid purposes. -Hefty portions. -Delicious food! My husband said that their Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich is the best that he has ever had anywhere, which is saying something since he lived in PA for a couple of years. Loved my order of Fish & Chips also. I preferred his tater tots to my fries, so might switch that next time. -Friendly wait staff. -Great Happy Hour Menu! We plan to try it out sometime. CONS: -Healthier seafood options are pretty pricey. -Not many healthy options in general, but that's expected with a tavern style restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
The Lemon Drop Martinis are my favorite here! The service is always excellent. Only 4 stars because the beyond burger wasn't seasoned well. Buttttttttt I'll definitely be back soon!
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
I visited Brick Tavern last Friday and was not impressed whatsoever. The fish and chips I ordered was disgusting. The breading on the fish was the only good thing. The actual fish was obviously previous frozen and smelled so gross. It was obvious it was frozen for many months and the texture revealed that as well. The fries were your typical frozen fries. The server was nice but the service was slow. My friend and I also ordered the brownie dessert with ice cream. That was even bad. It was basically a soupy skilled of gritty chocolate with a million nuts in it. Worst desert I have ever eaten. I definitely do not recommend this place. Two thumbs down.

Yelp
Nice place. Met a friend for lunch. The food was good and the waitress attentive. We did not order drinks. Enjoyed the looks and the fireplace.

Yelp
The service was excellent (thanks El) and the food surprised us. It was much better than expected. The highlight of the meal was a dessert that was brand new today: the Overtime Peanut Butter Pie. Made from scratch at the restaurant. We were first customers to enjoy this item. Rush to Brick House and get one.
