I have been dying to try Brick Lane for years, ever since I saw it featured on Man Vs. Food way back when. Though that episode was filmed in the downtown location, when I saw this place was across the street from my new apartment, it was instantly added to my to-do list.
Mama and Papa came to visit me, so naturally they need to feed their not-so-little kid anymore. All the way across the street we went! We ordered the Lassuni Gobi (deep fried cauliflower), which tasted similarly to sesame chicken and looked like it too, but made from cauliflower. So flavorful, so delicious. For our entrees, we ordered two to share between the three of us, the chicken korma, which is my go-to dish at Indian restaurants, and the goat madras as per my dad's request. My dad and I are adventurous eaters, but I had never tasted goat before this experience. Attention foodies: It's great! Attention not-so-adventurous eaters: Goat tastes like lamb, without the game. And of course, the korma was excellent too. We paired all this off with some garlic naan which doesn't even need a review because...it's naan, it's buttery, it's warm, it's awesome.
For dessert I didn't see the menu but rather, the waitress recited to me the several items they had. Now, I'm not going to try and sound out what it is that I ordered but it was basically cheese in a sweet saffron yogurty-milky liquid. The flavor was really delicate and it wasn't overly sweet, all three of us devoured it.
Solid place, located dangerously close to my apartment, so chances are...I'm going to be smelling a lot like curry.
