Where to Dine Along Williams Boulevard in Kenner, Louisiana | Eater New Orleans

"This sleeper just off I-10 begs discovery, if Brick Oven Cafe isn’t already on the radar. Don’t mind the Statue of Liberty replica out front; inside, the place is polished and understated, date-night worthy. The wood-fired pizza is excellent, not-too-thick or thin, blistered crust topped with the likes of kalamata olives, roasted garlic, and Italian sausage. But the menu is vast, ranging from pasta specialties, to steaks, chops, chicken, veal, and seafood. Pasta lunch specials come with salad or soup and a soft drink." - Beth D’Addono

Google
This place surprised me! I’ve passed it hundreds of times. When we decided to stop this time and pulled into the parking lot, what I saw through the windows was not what o was expecting. This is a gorgeous little Italian fare restaurant. I had been thinking something fast food-ish. A great menu and welcoming environment awaited. We had Lauren as our waitress - top notch!! The food was awesome, fresh, and the servings were excellent portions. The prices were totally appropriate for the quality and selections. Highly recommend. Worth the stop!

Google
Hands down, one of the best brick oven pizzas I've ever had. Really good and big enough for 2 people. Excellent, friendly customer service as well. I had the Reggiano pizza, no mushrooms, no olives. Highly recommend!

Google
Best special I have ever had here! Blacked Mahi over fettuccine w vodka sauce absolutely to die for. Service was immaculate

Google
Our waitress was super awesome 😎. Took about 10 minutes for them to seat us ....a family of 10!! We walked in out of convenience since it was next door to the Clarion. Very impressed considering it's location. Prices were a lil high and portions were plentiful. If I had one complaint the place itself could use an upgrade...decor a bit dated but the atmosphere makes up for it. Bathrooms could use some sprucing up as well 😆.

Google
Fortunate to get their limited time only lent menu! Nice! The seafood remoulade salad with crab and blackened shrimp was an incredible- fantastic dressing. The pizza was ok -the ground sausage rather bland and the crust was disappointing for a brick oven style -a bit flat, tough, without the bubbling you expect from a fresh flavorful crust. Maybe premade? Light on sauce, bland overall really. Staff and service was great!

Google
Just wonderful. Our large party was seated against a back wall in a long booth. Quiet enough and perfect for our meeting. People trickled in but it did not bother the very composed waiter. Nice wine selection. Calamari crispy and plentiful with yummy marinara. I had a side meatball and eggplant both very good. My neighbors had huge portions of cheesy lasagna and loved it. Neighbor to my right had Chicken Piccata and enjoyed that also. Waiter did not add a large party gratuity but of course we tipped more than would have been added. Very, very nice experience.

Google
If I could give this place negative stars I would!! For starters I’ve had mushroom cream sauce before but this was way different. It came out covered in mushrooms. I do not like whole mushrooms like that. I told the waitress (who was extremely nice) that I don’t like whole mushrooms. She frantically runs off to tell the manager. She comes back and says it’s in the description there’s nothing she can do. I reread the item description and it says “mushroom cream sauce”. If you know your sauce is different you should say that. Fast forward, the manager comes out, we go back and forth. I tell her I’m not paying for a meal I didn’t touch. She walks away and tells me from the kitchen a few minutes later that she’s going to pay for it because the owner wanted her to call the cops. THE COPS!!!! Over $22. I could see if I ate the food and didn’t want to pay but that is not what happened. I was flabbergasted that the owner wanted to call the cops over a meal that doesn’t cost $10 to make. I will never visit this establishment again. What a joke.

Google
Such a great experience! Wonderful food. The marinara sauce and bread so good! Lasagna, and brick oven chicken were perfect. The shrimp corn bisque absolutely delightful. Dallas, thanks you so much for the great service! Tony that house salad dressing was perfect! Thanks for making these Mississippi folks feel so welcome!

Yelp
One of the most enjoyable lunches in all my 59.5 years. I ordered the pasta bolognese...and I didn't want to because I've been here before and had the eggplant, which is also stellar. The wonderful server, Tracey, recommended it. The dish was so good my toes curled. In all of North America, in all of the Mediterranean...you may find a server as kind, as dutiful, as wonderful, but none more so. She smiles and acts as if it is a true pleasure to serve. My kind of server at an Italian restaurant. Classy and professional and attentive. Ask for her if you think of it. The setting is so Italian. Even if you did not come in hungry, you would crave Italian cuisine just in the setting alone. The music pairs with it ever so well. The prices are legit as well. This is a must-go-to...stellar food and service and ambience right here in Kenner.

Yelp
Top notch local authentic Italian food in Kenner by the airport. We were on an overnight flight delay and taken to a local Choices hotel. The shuttle driver recommended this Brick Oven next door. Wow! Was she ever right! Authentic Italian fare with family recipes...with the Nawlins seafood flair. A dinner salad to start for me was a good palate prep. A house chanti was serviceable and paired well with my Shrimp/Crawfish Pasta. Tami had a lighter meal of pasta fagiole which she found to be most satisfying. Our server was exceptionally attentive, conversational and knowledgeable. One would never guess it was her third day on the job. The pièce de résistance was the cannoli - we took the 'original' and a 'pistachio' with us and enjoyed in the morning. OMG I can't applaud these enough.

Yelp
The Brick Oven has been a staple in Kenner for many years. Unfortunately, the interior looks it. This place has not been updated since it opened. It looks like it needs a deep clean too. There is plenty of space for lots of guests or bigger families. Our waitress was very attentive and nice, but they are lacking staff. Our food came out kind of slow; it took about 45 minutes. I ordered the Spaghetti Aglio E Olio. It had a great mixture of garlic and olive oil. Overall, our food was good!

Yelp
Great spot for a family night out. Lisa was our server and she was awesome. The pasta and steak were great!

Yelp
Dinner by myself in the Big Easy. Off to a rough start - confusion on who should wait on me and extended time +5 minutes to get first wait staff to acknowledge me and take drink order. I ordered the fresh hot toasted bread - it is served with cold hard butter - I sent it back. I ordered the soup of the day it was served lukewarm, I asked for hot soup. New cup was hot. I ordered the shrimp scampi , a cream & garlic based sauce, full of flavor and spiced just right. Big pieces of shrimp. The manager/cook (Tony) came out to talk to me and explained what is going on in back of house two new servers. It's all good I told him I just wanted to bring it to a manager attention. Tony offered me a dessert an Italian cannoli with a French twist on the presentation and colors. The dining room has a very festive Italian decor and cozy atmosphere. Lots of vintage bottles of wines and oils on display. Overall not a bad dining experience just a bumpy start that ended on a positive note. If you're in the neighborhood I recommend you give this place a try.

Yelp
If you're looking for Italian in north Kenner...this is the place to go. Super great and unique brick oven pizzas (crisp with the tasty char on the ends like I always get in Italy). The Brick Oven Filet is awesome with roasted/caramelizes garlic is super good. They have about 10+ types of Italian pasta dishes and any that we've had have been very delicious. The spaghetti bolognese is an Italian sausage marina that is personal favorite. I always ask for them to sprinkle some fresh basil after the oven and that always do it. The lasagna and their fried eggplant parmesan are excellent, too. The staff is always kind and really takes care of you. The environment is that of a trattoria (small restaurants) you'll find in Italy, especially Rome). I love shrimp scampi and they have a great one with Gulf shrimp. If a place doesn't use Gulf shrimp, I won't eat it. I know they costs more and I don't mind paying a little more that are of the Gulf quality, taste, and supports our local shrimp industry.

Yelp
We were part of a party around 17 including 3 kids. This was the first time eating here after passing it for several years. Prices are average for the area and type of food. Let me preface this with veal is my go to when it's offered. I ordered the veal Parmesan. The veal was cut so thin and overcooked that I couldn't even cut it. It was inedible. We told the waitress and her response was so sorry but most people like it. I was very disappointed with the lackluster response and no offer to make it right. This will be my first and last time eating here. That being said the people in my party that ordered pizza enjoyed it very much.

Yelp
Ngl the food is pricey here and I was hesitant to try this place, but it was by far worth every penny. The food was absolutely amazing. We came back twice in a row on our trip to New Orleans and honestly it's probably one of the best illalian restaurants I've had in all my travels. We got appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Personally the seafood pasta here is to die for and the chicken Alfredo is amazing. My servers both times were quick on their feet and so good I didn't even notice them refilling my glass multiple times.
google avatar

Jamie B.

Yelp
This place is huge. Plenty of parking. There is plenty of seating inside if you have a big group. Nice itlaian decor throughout. Service treated you like family. Nice clean bathrooms. The food was mediocre, though, and the pricing was high. We had fun and enjoyed the experience. But overall, it wasn't the best Italian restaurant I have been to.

Yelp
This place wasn't too far from our hotel so we all agreed to try it. By far some of the worst pizza I've had in a while. The only bright spot that earned 5/5 was the server Lauren. She is amazing, fun personality and very very helpful. Lauren is the only reason I didn't give this place 0 stars. I wouldn't recommend at all.

Kyleigh V.

Yelp
idk chicken florentine wasn't even that good for real. :/ (jk i ate this sh*t tf up)
google avatar

Doug N.

Yelp
The pizza here is legit. One of the better pies I've had. Great chew. This is definitely a must try. Service was on point also.

Yesrab K.

Yelp
Friend took me there because I wanted to try a different pizza joint for my birthday. And we always passed by this place. decided to check it out..it's a cute place that needs some cosmetic work. I love that we can see the brick over as we are seated. Service was slow even though we were the only ones there at that time, cheese sticks were so so but the pizza was really good. I'll have to give it another try and update sometime.

Anthony G.

Yelp
Our server Maddy was amazing! Good was great. We had just landed and ate before heading to Baton Rouge
google avatar

Brielle P.

Yelp
Decided to give brick oven cafe a try. The Caesar salad was good but dressing was extremely light and not Caesar style at all. The lettuce was crisp and fresh. The eggplant parmigiana was fried to death served with low quality tasting cheese and cafeteria sauce. The pasta you could tell was cooked way prior because it was so wet and over done that water pooled under the sauce. It was truly inedible. I asked for some bread because I couldn't eat my meal and it was a $1 charge. My waitress Lauren was super nice and attentive.

James M.

Yelp
Food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. Donna was our server, friendly, and great service. Food was so fresh and prepared by excellent chefs. Best fresh spinach salad with bacon pecan dressing. You'll be happy you went!
google avatar

Dayana M.

Yelp
Let me say the best puttanesca I've had in my life was here. We had the margarita pizza and it was thin, Crispy and just right. My server was so warm and kind Lisa, do yourself a favor and ask for her. She made all the right suggestions and the ambience was very nice and cozy. Make sure you come hungry because the portions are hefty, you def pay for the amount of food you get. Overall I'd def return here and strongly recommend.

Yelp
Great pizza & wonderful service. Our waitress Lauren was very attentive. She made sure our iced tea was kept full & we had everything we needed. Wonderful brick oven pizza!!

Yelp
Visited there a couple of days I had the manicotti the wife had an Italian pizza both were good prices have increased five to seven dollars more they serve their drinks in little water glasses. The place was basically empty when I received the bill I noticed they now charge for the Italian bread and butter.I guess I should have been advised by my server and then allowed to make my own decision. The cost for lunch for two with tip was almost fifty dollars a bit too high.I will maybe go back on a special occasion only!

Bonnie P.

Yelp
We reserved a table for 17 teens and a separate table for 19 adults. From the time we made reservations until the time we left everything was top notch. Booking was easy, communication was amazing, food was phenomenal, and service was absolutely perfect! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Jenny S.

Yelp
This is my go to favorite place for Italian! Huge portions, delicious pasta, and Smokey wood fired pizza..... staff is always friendly and attentive.

David W.

Yelp
This is one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. Service is always great and food isn't overpriced like some Italian restaurants in the Metairie/kenner area. The chicken Parmesan is delicious! Great selection of desserts.

Kristina F.

Yelp
Very disappointed in my take out salads. I ordered 1 large house salad ($12) and 1 large Greek salad ($13). I got them home and it was just barely covering the bottom of the large carry out dish. What is wrong with people - then they want a TIP on carry out on top of that.. NOPE - sorry guys. Won't be back.

Yelp
i stopped there today for lunch on a recommendation. the food is somewhat pricey. i ordered the spaghetti and meatballs from the lunch menu, which came with soup or salad. i chose the soup. it was minestrone, or upcharge for another couple dollars for a soup that i don't remember the name of. i chose the upcharge soup. good choice. i also, unfortunately got the squid. (unfortunate because i didn't even come close to eating them all.) my mom was FBI. (full blooded italian) so needless to say, i don't like spaghetti from restaurants. and the more italian a restaurant claims to be, the worse the spaghetti. not so with this place. it was almost as good as my mom's. let's talk about the ambiance. it was loud. i didn't care for the music but it wasn't that funk monkey music or rap or anything, it was more like the music i grew up listening to. not loud; actually you couldn't hear it well over all the chatter. now, the service. i don't know if i was lucky, or all are like the girl that waited on us, but the service was the only thing that topped the food. INCREDIBLE!!! the only complaint i really have against them is they are so far from prairieville. my recommendation: if you are ever in the kenner area on williams blvd., stop by and treat yourself.

Kathy S.

Yelp
This is not "Italian" food - the sauce is like tomato paste...the pizza is disgusting....the lemon cake dessert had frosting that tasted and felt like it was eating a slick of oil....threw that away. The service was good and the drinks strong which is the only way to get thru a meal here....

Jennifer G.

Yelp
My salad was really good. The margherita pizza had good flavor the cheese, fresh tomatoes and seasoning but the dough was a little plain tasting. Servers were very friendly.

Henri C.

Yelp
I don't know what happened to this place. I been getting their margarita pizza for years. Got one yesterday was terrible. The crust was rubbery with no flavor. The sauce was hardly noticeable and the cheese was just enough. They had some basil on it but even that was tasteless. The pizza was $22 and I gave them $30 and to keep the change. It's not about the money but the loss of a good pizza.
google avatar

Andi F.

Yelp
Came after doing a few other things in the area in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday. Few other customers. The place was clean and nicely decorated. Had the jambalaya pasta and it was delicious, perfectly spiced. Got the chocolate cake to go and that was delicious as well. This is located at one end of an L-shaped strip mall that is small. There is a shared parking lot. Wait staff was friendly.

Joseph B.

Yelp
best Italian in town the smell coming from the oak burning in the brick oven is amazing
google avatar

Gina H.

Yelp
Love that this restaurant has been around for so long! We stopped in and had some pizza! We also had some dessert!! Tiramisu and banana's foster cheesecake! Yummy! And our waitress was awesome!!! (Forgot to take pics of dessert)
google avatar

Marielle S.

Yelp
We wandered into Brick Oven, one night, after Gendusa's was packed. This was right after the election, so I assume people were just happy to be out of the house and eating cheap. We got here and the place was pretty dead and we were seated quickly. For our appetizer we got cheese bread and for my entree I got shrimp and crawfish pasta and I got a meatball on top, for funsies. The cheese bread was delicious- it's super hard to mess that up. The shrimp and crawfish pasta was excellent, as well. The meatball was a little over cooked, but that's not the end of the world. I used to go to Brick Oven more often than I do now, but I think I'm going to add it to the rotation.
google avatar

Matthew B.

Yelp
Don't surprise your guests with extra to-go charges; let them know prior to ordering. Also this place has been here for as long as I remember and it doesn't look clean. Also our bartender/server had her mask down below her chin. What's the point? The Chianti wine wasn't very tasty for $7.50 plus it was a small pour. In the pic below you'll see the brick oven pizza tray/puller is standing up on the dirty ground. The staff loudly complains to each other. Pro tip: use the $10 off Local Flavor app coupon or on their website.

Dawn C C.

Yelp
The Brick Oven Cafe is one of. My favorite restaurants in the entire New Orleans area!! Strictly speaking, it is not in New Orleans but in Kenner on Williams near the airport but it is more than worth a planned stop!! Everything is homemade, mainly Italian but with a definite New Orleans twist. From pasta dishes to incredible desserts- tiramisu and the wedding cake cannoli are to die for, the cuisine is always consistently incredible!! The service manages to be traditional yet very welcoming. And the ambiance is comfortable and inviting. Go and enjoy making a wonderful memory!! The Best!!
google avatar

Lacy M.

Yelp
Wonderful food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere! Service was prompt and food was hot, fresh & flavorful. I recommend checking out the daily fish special, the Italiano Pizza (I add roasted garlic), the Veal Pontchartrain and don't skip dessert! I love tiramisu and there's does not disappoint.

Yelp
A gem with a wood fired pizza oven. We stopped here after a day outing in NOLA because the boys wanted pizza. I searched for a highly rated pizza place and as a bonus they had the wood fired oven which is hands down our favorite since we don't eat chain pizza. The pizzas were wonderful. The crust was crunchy and slightly charred. I normally don't eat the edges but here I did. We also ordered the fried eggplant appetizer and it was awesome. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for some great Italian and do not want to drive into the city.

Heather C.

Yelp
I love this place but tonight we walked in and they refused to serve up with 45 minutes until closing. After a 30 minute drive to get here makes us not want to come back.
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
We went this time and I say that because this probably our third or fourth time. We ordered a few different things. The veal Siciliana was perfect and so was the honey pork chop. The salad with the pecan bacon dressing and added honey mustard was delicious. So was the house Italian dressing. However we also ordered the filet with garlic and the blackened ribeye. Both were not seasoned at all. My Chef husband said that his steak was not grilled as it had no char or marks he said it was oven cooked. Ik this isn't a steakhouse but a little salt goes along way. We still would go back just not for steaks.

Jade G.

Yelp
It was wonderful, good customer service . the food was delicious i had fettuccine alfredo pasta it was delicious, my friend had pepperoni pizza. my aunt angie had chicken marcala. and my friend had cheesy bread. soooo yummy
google avatar

Cathie G.

Yelp
Went here with my "girls night out" team on Tues night. They split a wood oven pizza, which looked amazing and they loved it. I had the veal Florentine and it was real veal thin cutlets with fresh spinach and fettuccine Alfredo on the side. Portions were generous ( I brought half home) and the side Cesar salad had loads of cheese. I had a Cosmo which was only $8 versus the usual $10 anywhere else. Service was fast considering everything is cooked to order. My only disappointment was dessert: many choices but the chocolate cake was dry. They do have cannoli including King Cake stuffed cannoli which the girls loved. Prices are mid range but I got one of the most expensive choices on the menu. It was well worth the total plus tip. I'll go back again. Salads are just beautiful and huge.
google avatar

Kathie H.

Yelp
Chicken Parmesan was very good! My vegetarian friend that went with me, had lots of choices as well.
google avatar

Maegan B.

Yelp
Came for lunch a few weeks ago and got eggplant rolatine. We both loved it! The fresh Italian loaf is amazing. But came back for dinner tonight and got the liberta pizza, was nervous because I was wanting pasta. This was hands down the best pizza we ever had it was the perfect amount of everything, all ingredients complimented each other. We were both blown away. We ended up ordering chicken parm with Alfredo which was really good to, however I wish we would've done the veal

B S.

Yelp
Good food and great service. And so easy to stop by going to and from the airport! Calamari is really good.

Linda K.

Yelp
Their pizza & Italian dishes are always delicious. I especially love the Brick Oven Chicken dish & my husband has many favorites. The service is always good! The ambiance is just ok.
google avatar

Akermi A.

Yelp
Love the food and the service. Chicken parm is the best I've had and the red sauce is great! The drive out to Kenner is a little far, but worth it. The staff is great. I absolutely enjoy dining there, the ambiance is nice and usually Lisa is my waitress and she is great!
google avatar

Thomas H.

Yelp
This place was awesome from the minute we walked in the door it had Italian written all over it. Lisa met us at the door and proceeded to take excellent care of us. We ordered a cup of minestrone soup and it was out of this world good! I had the Italian sausage and pepperoni pizza brick oven cooked and my wife had the lasagna both were excellent. Will definitely eat here next time in the big easy.
google avatar

Ruthie V.

Yelp
Special thanks to our attentive server, Lisa, for great service and friendly attitude. My bf and I agree, one of the best Italian restaurants we've ever eaten at and we travel all over the world. You must, and I mean MUST try the sausage and peppers appetizer. I am a cook of sorts and guarantee it will be the best thing your taste buds have had in a very long time. Thanks again from your fans from California bay area. We'll return as this is our fifth visit to NOLA but not our last to this extraordinary establishment. See you next year!

David D.

Yelp
I love this place. Not often you get a really great restaurant near the airport but Brick Oven is the exception. I know the owner and most of the staff knows me from being a longtime customer. Everything I've had here so far is prepared properly and cooked to perfection. They also have the best bread I've ever eaten. Cooked on site. Service is great, everyone's friendly. This is comfort food at its zenith.
google avatar

P F.

Yelp
I always come back for the cafe' salad or previously named the brick oven salad. It is made up on shredded chicken, feta, lettuce and their homemade Italian dressing that literally makes the salad what it is. With a side of bread and butter...you have a quick, inexpensive meal. The service is always okay, the ambiance could definitely be improved.

Mary O.

Yelp
Decent food. I have to be in the mood for their red sauce though. Good service and comfortable seating.
