BVOCAL4LOCAL Great time with a lot of great vendors. Kitty cat cookies kill me! A must to get those big fat chocolate chip cookies before I leave. And per her recommendation... Put them in the microwave for a quick hit. The smell. The softness damn it. I want a cookie now LOL And make sure to visit Pearl. She has a great eye for textures and colors. She is the quintessential artist. Love her look and love her treasures that she finds. Even if they don't fit you you'll find something as a gift! And so much more! It's always worth a gander. I haven't been there yet- that I didn't find something that I didn't need but definitely wanted LOL

Great venue! We went to K pop night and it was a blast! Lots of booths selling cool items and the music and performances were awesome! Definitely a great place to have events!

I personally love seeing all the wonderful people. It's a really lovely vibe. If you like art, a beverage, and an occasional show. It's definitely worth stopping by!

Brick at night was so much fun. Can't wait to go to the next show. My date really liked it. Hopefully she'll let me kiss her next time.

When cycling thru Southtown, stop in at Brick for refreshing drinks and support local vendors.

Per Brick at Blue Star's website, "Brick is primarily an arts venue for visual, literary, theatre, dance, music, film, fashion, performance, culinary arts, and experimental projects." This event venue is really lovely!! I've visited a few times with my partner when he & I are at Blue Star and there are events occurring. The space is large, clean, and well-kept. There are usually vendors present, selling trinkets + snacks. It's a great space to see live music as well! This is a great space.

I went there for a friend's comedy show. The walk up was well lit. Brick itself is tucked in the middle of Blue Star, but still easily accessible. The place itself is inviting and warm. The house band, Cicada, is really good. They'll go far, I'm sure. Brick hosts all kind of small events. The bartenders and manager are professional and nice. Its kind of an art gallery too or maybe it's an art gallery with a bar. I had fun. The comedy show on the first Sunday of every month, Brick @ Nite, hosted by Omar Weens & K@, is the one I went to and will continue going to. I had fun and you will too.

Yelp
I recently visited Brick to pick up a breakable chocolate heart from one of the vendors that was participating in the market (Baked by Blair). I had never heard of this market before, so was excited to check it out. I tried to park in the lot designated for this market, but it was very busy and cars were even having to reverse out of the lot and it was a bit messy. I parked in a neighboring lot and walked over... not ideal but it worked. As I arrived when they first opened (12:00PM on Sunday), many of the vendors were still setting up and it was pretty empty. Regardless, there were many cool and unique items available. I also thought it was fun that they had a bar right at the entrance offering mimosas ($3 - very reasonable) so that you could sip & shop. I would definitely re-visit the market and brick but would likely go a bit later so it was more "popping".

Yelp
The Brick is a fun open covered space. Where local vendors can come and setup and sell their products. This event space also sells wine and beer, so while you browse you can look and look at the goodies you can sip on a delicious drink. This def is a fun day out no matter the weather because it is covered. Also you have eatery's close buy if you get hungry if one of the vendors doesn't have food to purchase. I say go check this place out. Enjoy cocktail and shop.

Yelp
My dad came in town and wanted something to do. We came out to the brick, he got a ice cold beer. Safe to say he had a great time! We walked around the place and saw so many great small businesses. There was so many different types of art and sweet artists. Not only did they educate me. They also talked to me about who they are as artists. Baked by Blair had great sweets and enjoyed the treats my valentines got to enjoy. Bitchinstichin had amazing LGBTQIA art and that is so amazing to see. If you get a chance come check out these small businesses I promise it's worth your time!

Yelp
Very trendy place to look at art for events and a nice lil restaurant Stella is very close by. If there's an event here please go and try it out to visit this area... Parking is terrible though. Any event that happens here please show up 30 minutes to an hour early.

Yelp
Fantastic service at Brick the PeriodPalooza event the other day. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make me comfortable and help me. I've been there before for other events and it has been clean, well organized, and fun. So glad to have a gathering place like this in the heart of SaTx.

Yelp
Love this place! Especially on First Friday. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and stop by. They have different vendors selling a variety of unique, eclectic, items. The vibe is amazing! I love listening to the live music, and seeing the art from local artists. You never know what you'll find! Parking is a bit difficult on this eventful day but it's always worth the visit. You can also walk down the strip and find more vendors, restaurants, and bars. It's definitely a good time out. I would recommend to anyone looking to socialize- find yourself immersed into a culture of "free spirit."

Yelp
The Sunday market at the Brick is the best thing ever!!!!!! I can't believe I live steps away from this place and I had no idea about their Sunday market. Their Sunday market is full of everything and anything you can image; from beautiful painting by local artists, hand-maid jewelry, organic soaps, organic toothpaste, organic bug repellent (is that even a thing?!), beautiful pillow cases, purses and much more! We came here last Sunday just to "look around" and ended up buying a beautiful dachshund pillow case (YES! I'm a suckers for dachshund everything), and organic toothpaste. I already have my eye on a few other items that I'll probably get as a "Christmas presents" to myself. If you want to support local businesses and don't know where to do your Christmas shopping this year, I would start by visiting Brick's Sunday market. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
If only parking wasn't an absolute nightmare, I'd give Brick at Blue Star five stars. I admit though, I got incredibly lucky last night when I did TPR's Worth Repeating show. Brick is a neat, spacious venue perfect for shows, art exhibits, and little markets, such as art and craft shows. I've swung by many times for many First Fridays, Paper Trail, and other events where I can support local artists. Last night was my first time being involved in an event here, rather than a customer or spectator. Check in was a delight--fast, efficient, you name it. The show was well organized with no major incidents, though a couple of folks not associated with TPR wandered into the storytellers' safe zone. No big deal, though. Everyone had a grand time. Brick is in the hip, hip Southtown neighborhood, so after you catch an event, there are lots of options nearby to grab a bite. Sukeban, Halcyon, Stella, Burgerteca, La Tuna, etc.

Yelp
Located in the heart of Southtown within the Blue Star Arts Complex is a venue space that is truly unique and quirky on it's own. Completely focused on the arts, Brick hosts plenty of events that highlight local artists and different techniques of the creative world. This is a raw space so if you're wanting to build a dream event, Brick has a pretty clean slate for you to work with. Throughout the week there are quite a few showcases and pop up shops featuring art and clothing for you to check out. Of course if you're thirsty and in dire need of hydration there is a wide variety of beer and wine.

Yelp
After coming to this venue for First Friday, I told myself I would not come again. But there I was, the following First Friday, trying to maneuver through hordes of people. This venue is way too small to accommodate the First Friday crowd. Too many vendors that are too close together inside. Not a very good experience at all. However, I did come here for a speaking event and it was very lovely! I wish there were less vendors inside when they had big events. It would be great if more of them were spread out all along the sidewalk outside. It would make for a better experience. Hope the logistics will get better the next time I go.

Yelp
My first visit to Brick was last week for "Upside Down", a Stranger Things themed art show by Las Lloronas benefiting Autism Speaks. If you're visiting for an art show or event I recommend getting here early to get a good parking spot or to rideshare or uber/lyft because it took us quite some time to get a parking spot at the Blue Star. Brick is a nice big open space and I liked that they featured local artisans and businesses. The bar was open so you could crab a drink while checking out the art work. For this specific show I do wish there had been more art, however, I applaud them for raising money for a great cause!

Yelp
Brick is a lovely place for events. We were there for the Worth Repeating event($10 each)that happens every first Tuesday of the month. It's a perfect size for cool events or to just chill out to enjoy a drink. I recommend this place and the Worth Repeating event as well.

Yelp
Stellar event center with modular furniture for different style events. Just in the past few years I have attended events such as Spurs watch parties, first Friday sales and moving showings. Highly recommend for wedding parties As well.

Yelp
We attended the Vegan stop and shop recently at this location, and it was definitely a neat set up. All of the Vendors were stuffed into the main room on the bottom floor to showcase their creations, food, art, and trinkets alike. The venue itself shows it's history and its age, but the facilities worked and the venue looks to be well-cared for regardless of the age that is showing. The parking is limited due to the event area being in the Blue Star complex, but once you find parking, it can be easy to find as well as easy to navigate to your car from. I'm sure the facility hosts a variety of events other than the Vegan stop and shop, but since the event is held monthly, I know that I will be coming back to Brick to partake.

Yelp
Went for the Sunday market, Brick is open until midnight but depending on which vendors you are looking for .. they may be gone before then. So show up as early as you can. There is a good selection of types of things being sold, it is mostly clothes both vintage and contemporary. But there are cards, stickers, paintings, and more.

Yelp
This is a great place to come and check out the local art talent, and buy some cool stuff! This used to be a performance place, but it has been lovingly converted into a arts market. Come check out the highly talented Bryson Brooks, who is an avant-garde artist who does awesome western and portrait paintings. Tatum is another talented artist with kitchy weird art that seems Texan and progressive at the same time. They serve beer here, and there's sometimes live music or performances going on. Occasionally, they'll even have darts tournaments! Parking can be a challenge if you're going for an event- especially First Friday. There's plenty of restrooms, and the A/C is always cranked to 11 here. It's a great place to come by and see what's going on in the arts community.

Yelp
Brick is an event venue inside of the Blue Star complex. They have different types of events throughout the month, but have recently been hosting a Sunday Art Market. The hours posted are 12-5, and they have a handful of vendors with locally made items. If you are in the market for sandals there is a lady with Spanish style shoes that are adorable. There is a vendor with local flavor t-shirts as well. After you finish shopping, Blue Star Brewery is right around the corner.

Yelp
Awesome kick back spot with chill vibes. I love how happy the staff is to assist me with all my bev needs. I highly recommend hosting your wedding, party, or concert in their massive venue. The owners are the most sincere people I've ever met, and they are always happy to accommodate you in any way to make your experience the best you've ever had.

Yelp
First friday at brick. Not for me, overpriced Bs art, overpriced hipster IPA's , overpriced juice they pour out of old kool-aid jugs , overcrowded , too many vendors in one small space , the bathrooms were DISGUSTING, i would like to give this place negative stars

Yelp
I was a speaker at a marijuana policy forum at Brick. I love this venue! The people who work there were friendly, welcoming and helpful. It was a totally peaceful vibe. The decor is dramatic and I guess something like "shabby chic" in a hip, comfortable way. I felt totally at ease here discussing a controversial subject with complete strangers (who became new friends). Brick is what "community" means. I hope to return soon.

Yelp
Nice space, many good events featuring many great artists. Blue Star as a whole is nice. Big fan of the pizza joint Stella

Yelp
Very nice place to was Game of Thrones. It was a little hard to find at first, the sign was hidden behind a large branch. They have great beers to purchase and the seats were comfy. My only issue was the menu. I ordered the brisket over potatoes and the potatoes were cold, they had too much parsley and the meat was a bit tough for $10. They should have slow cooked it or shredded it up. The atmosphere was great though. Will come back again but I'll bring my own food.

Yelp
This place really is a hidden gem. They have 30 craft beers tucked away in their cooler and the bar tenders are very knowledgeable and super helpful. Super fun dive location

Yelp
This is a cute place to have an event. I wouldn't pick this place for a wedding reception because there simply isn't enough room but for a party or sales event it would be great. Beware that the bar is a bit small but that can be a good thing.

Yelp
Visited here for the Frida Kahlo Festival. This place was swarmed with people and lines. So happy they had an amazing turnout though and an honor to be there for the first one. There is a neat shop right next to/connected to that had neat shirts and prints to buy. They have a bar to come and grab a drink. Definitely would love to come back. The only but biggest issue is parking! Where the heck are you supposed to park?
google avatar

Yelp
I would easily give brick a 5 star but I've been going there for almost a year now and one of their bar tenders (the young blonde guy)He has consistently made me not want go back in. He is by Southtown standards a real asshole. He never smiles or looks you in the eye. By all accounts he makes you feel unwelcome. The only reason I come back scarcely is b/c I want a craft brew w/o having to travel far as I live down the street. And btw his craft brew knowledge sucks...

Yelp
Came here to bartend for a friends Album release. Great staff, spacious floor space, clean restrooms. Would recommend to anyone needing a space. Parking was a bit of a challenge for some that I heard.

Yelp
This is a nice venue for an art exhibit. The location is good, the space is wide open and the bar staff I encountered was very nice. For the exhibit I attended, they managed to really maximize the space and pack in a ton of art. This is a great place to stop by regularly to see what different stuff they have going on.

Yelp
The actual building is beautiful and a great venue, however, the staff (especially the bartenders), not so much. I had my wedding here in November 2017. My issues were: When I signed the contract in December 2016, I was told Brick does the beer and wine bar and I can have a separate liquor bar. In August 2017, three months before my wedding, I was told in a very nonchalant email that there was no outside liquor allowed meaning, I couldn't have a liquor bar. Some email correspondence happened and then NOTHING. It wasn't until a few weeks later when I sent another email that a got a call saying that it was their mistake and that they misunderstood the law. My second issue with them was at the end of the night. We opted for an open bar on one tab with a tip jar out. At the end of the night, the bar tender added a 20% tip to the total. My husband inquired about the tip jar and the tip he added and he said that it was in our contract. I had to go through my phone on the night of my WEDDING to get my signed contract out to show him it wasn't. We then had to go to our coordinator to sort it out because he refuses to take it off. After midnight, there was still a small tab so we put it on a card, the bartender AGAIN tried add a 20% tab on the original amount. My husband caught it before he ran it and stopped it. We tipped on top of what he received from the tip jar but the fact that he lied about what was in our contract is deplorable. Venue is nice but the staff is subpar

Yelp
What an awesome place to have stumbled upon! I went to the Blue Star complex to check out 1919 and the Blue Star Brewing Company, and I am so happy that this place drew me in with the disco ball they had hanging in the front entry. The bar is small when you walk in, and they had every kind of craft beer I could imagine, and ALL IN CANS! So fun. The bartender was really nice and gave great recommendations. The night we went in they were having a local art show, where models were painted as heroes, and the audience was sketching them. There was also an awesome DJ to add to the fun. I was only in San Antonio for 24 hours, and being a part of this local art culture made the trip one I will never forget. Bravo Brick - I will deifnitely be back!

Yelp
Brick is AWESOME! we had our wedding reception here and it couldn't have been a more amazing experience! Elizabeth and her staff were exceptional! It is also such a fun place to visit sundays for their market and are always having cool events- bands, art, etc. A definite must stop for anyone in the Blue Star Arts Gallery.
google avatar

Robert P.

Yelp
I'm gonna go "middle of the road" with this one. It really is a hit or miss with this establishment. Sometimes they offer great art shows (mostly vendors), and other times certain people try to convert it into a night club of sorts that just gives off a desperate vibe. To the owners of this building I say this, "pick a theme and improve on it, as opposed to aiming wildly and hoping to hit something". DO continue the artisan market vibe showcasing talent from the area and surrounding participants. DON'T continue the dj infused, night club culture that seemingly infected this city within the past few years. This city offers too much of that scene as it is, and only serves to confuse the returning clientele. Might I even go as far as to attempting to attract traveling artists to set up gallery, "nation wide" style shows? I dig the staff here, as well as the affixed Tatum shop. So for this, you do get additional stars, only to have them taken away by there NEVER seeming to be parking available.
