Overhyped. I hate to say this because I don’t want to hurt any small businesses, but I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Brick Street Bagels. From the preorder stage, pick-up arrangements, to bagel quality, nothing hit the mark, not to mention their bagels are way too overpriced. The whole ordering and picking up processes were ridiculously inconvenient. You need to “fight” for the bagels days in advance. You are NOT guaranteed to get the bagel and cream cheese flavors you want even if you preorder. You have to line up early in the morning (it was 19°F when we visited) and choose them IN PERSON depending on their inventory. So what’s the point of preordering? My wallet was crying and my heart was broken. The bagels are still in my freezer but I don’t ever want to touch them again. *Rosemary Sea Salt Bagel, Cheddar Bagel The bagels were literally like BRICKS. I swear the bagels were still warm when we received. Unfortunately, the rosemary sea salt bagel was STALE AF. We could hardly rip the bagel, and the crust wasn’t crispy at all. It was like chewing bricks. I tried to reheat it at home, the texture was still the same. For the cheddar bagel, it was SO OILY. The paper bag and napkins soaked up a puddle of oil in split seconds. The texture was more like a cheddar bread instead of a bagel. From the struggle of the bagel pull, you can easily tell how tough it was. *Dill Pickle Cream Cheese Dill pickle cream cheese was the only edible thing from this haul, but it was just okay. I’ve had the same cream cheese from Popup Bagels before, which was more delicious than this one. FYI I paid $29.01 after tax for six bagels and a tub of 8oz cream cheese. $7 for two mediocre bagels was robbery. At this price point, of course my expectations for their bagels would be very high. Good news: Popup Bagels just opened a location in Seaport, Boston. They only charge $21 for half a dozen and a schmear with much better quality and service.

Weird!!! I can’t understand the hype at all. I’ve had the best of the best all over the country and Montreal. These bagels are SO MEH!! We had four types and two cream cheeses. All boring. My adult daughters felt the same way. We weren’t expecting NY perfection by any means, but the way people go on about these bagels had me dying for them. They are very boring white bread. The scallion cream cheese was very bland with only the tiniest bit of green. Chewy but no good crust. You all go on enjoying them and the weird business model. I’ll drive to Salem.

One of the best bagel shops in Boston at the moment. The hype around this Boston bagel shop had my expectations high. About a month ago, I decided to try their bagels with a pre-scheduled Saturday pickup. Even though everyone had a secured order, the line for pickup started forming an hour before opening. To pass the time, I grabbed a coffee from South End Buttery and sat on their patio. The perk of being the first in line was that I was able to enjoy fresh hot bagels almost straight from the oven. Both the Cheddar and Sesame bagels had an impeccably pillowy texture with just the right amount of chewiness. The Cheddar bagel, covered in crispy baked cheddar, was one of the most intriguing bagels I've ever had. It was slightly greasy, so it was better enjoyed on its own rather than with cream cheese. The Lox cream cheese I got on the side was light, creamy, and had just the right amount of lox flavor, making it a perfect dip for the sesame bagel. On my second visit, I did a Wednesday morning pickup and found virtually no wait. This time, I tried the Rosemary Salt and Everything bagels. Both were slightly denser, with fewer air pockets than the ones I had a month ago. Given that these bagels are baked in small batches, the quality seemed to vary depending on the day. Despite the slight difference in texture, both bagels were generously covered in their respective seasonings and were good on their own. I also tried the bacon and scallion cream cheese this time, and the large chunks of bacon made it extra enjoyable. There's no doubt these are high-quality bagels. However, the $7 price tag for two bagels feels a tad steep, and the cumbersome ordering and pickup process makes it challenging to consider this a regular spot. Also, having the option to buy a single bagel instead of two would be much more convenient.

I'm not usually a bagel person, but I spend a lot of time in the South End and had to try Brick Street at least once. I placed a preorder for pickup on a Wednesday morning around 9am. At this time it wasn't busy at all, and the service was super friendly. I got the sesame bagel and the texture was perfect and you could tell it was fresh. There's no seating so I ate them at a cafe nearby. I'd definitely come back!

I have waited in line for preordered bagels in the rain, in 10 degrees and in super nice weather - these bagels are worth it all!!! The best part of the week is Tuesday around 6 or Thursday at 4 to see if you are able to secure a bagel for the week or the weekend, I have flown these bagels home for my family to try them too. They are always warm, pairing with the cream cheese is always the best & the people serving them are always the kindest!

Solid bagels! Pre-order online a few days in advance to secure your bagels over the weekend in a smooth pick-up process. Delicious cream cheese spreads which could easily be used for 4+ bagels. 😋

The bagels are very good here! I’m from New Jersey and was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully it gets easier to get bagels here in the future- not a huge fan of having to pre-order and wait on a like but would definitely recommend doing this at least once.

It is so worth it! By far the best bagels I have had in Boston, and while you may not be able to get them every single week, that’s what makes them so special!! They are delicious and the line moves quick, and everyone is so kind and friendly. My favorite part of my week. I can’t wait to see what they grow into.
