"Described by locals as the best ice-cream in New England, Brickley’s has been a Rhode Island institution since the '90s when it was first opened by husband-and-wife duo, Steve and Chris Brophy. Lines are long, but the creamy homemade scoops of everything from traditional chocolate and summer fruit flavors to decadent coffee oreo are worth the wait. We recommend getting yours in one of Brickley’s signature, crunchy, homemade waffle cones. For those with a more moderate sweet tooth, try one of the equally delicious, no-added-sugar flavors like pistachio and vanilla. Take note, Brickley’s is old school, so cash only. "

Great variety including soft serve, vegan ice cream, and frozen yogurt. Homemade waffle cones available. Lots of toppings.

7-18-25 VERY popular in the summer. If you drive down Boston Neck Rd from 5 pm to close, you will witness a line down said road with cars parked on both sides for a quarter mile in both directions. Yes. Really. Baron's has a parking lot as well if this is any indication of the traffic it receives. Found the best time to be early to mid-afternoon to avoid crowds. There is covered and open seating (outside), trash cans, and napkin dispensers. You order at a window (covered for maybe 30 feet in front) and an employee or two will bring your treat to you by name. Barons does ice cream with different sizes and cone options, soft serve, splits, shakes, and soda floats. There is a large board with pics uploaded to depict sizing and price options better than I could type this out. I did a chocolate peanut butter cup and a chocolate coconut almond scoop on a waffle cone. This was excellent and the waffle cone sticks out to me. Awesome. There is a reason this attracts masses of folks.

We were really hopeful for a yummy ice cream on our drive thru Rhode Island. Lots of great options of flavors and prices were not bad, plus the outdoor setting was super cute. The portions were GIANT, which was generous. The problem was just that the flavors were so mild. My husband got the Rum Raisin and the Bing Cherry. The rum raisin just tasted like vanilla with raisins, and the Bing Cherry tasted like vanilla-- no cherries to be found in the scoop. I had a similar problem with my peanut butter cup scoop, with it just being vanilla with sparse peanut butter cups inside. My daughter got walnut and pumpkin scoops and they were pretty good. Waffle cones were good!

Google
Brickley’s Believe It Or Not🍦 My wife gives it 5 stars. The peanut butter ice cream was not too much peanut butter, and bit had giant chunks. The jimmies were top notch. Thin. Real. Don’t know how to explain it. Best ice cream of our Rhode Island trip. Also have a brand new paved parking lot. You don’t usually see that at an ice cream place. They must reinvest into the business a lot! Good for them!

Google
This was my first time at Brickley’s Homemade Ice Cream, and it was phenomenal!!! The scratch-made waffle cones smelled intoxicating right when we walked up. And they tasted even better! I ordered the chocolate chip, which had vast chunks of chips. My family ordered cake batter, heath, and the Brinkley. All three were delicious. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. Definitely stop by and check out Brickley’s Homemade Ice Cream!

Google
If you fancy yourself a south county treat to compliment a warm summer night , then Brickley’s is where you should go. Whether your a resident , or at your beach house on vacation , there is no better ice cream found in the Ocean State , then here. Located 5-10 mins off the highway , around the same from the beaches in the area , this is your best bet for a frozen treat. All their ice cream is fantastic. Homemade , tons of flavors , large scoops , and the waffle cones just add to the experience. They have good parking available , lines can be long , but move pretty quick . They also have a big tented area with picnic benches for outside seating. So if your local , visiting , or driving by , and you see this place … stop and treat yourself . Especially if you have never had it. You won’t be disappointed.

Yelp
-One scoop of peanut butter cup one scoop of salted caramel with chocolate jimmies - one scoop of peanut butter cup, and one scoop of the flavor of the week, the Irish cream chocolate brownie both in waffle cones I come here so much I'm just going to list what I get because obviously it's amazing.

Yelp
Hands down the best ice cream I've ever had! The flavors are packed with goodies!! Our top favorite flavors -- Oreo is loaded with cookies, PB cup is packed with PB cups, and strawberry cheesecake has so many cheesecake bites!! This is the place to be on a summer night! It gets busy so plan accordingly!
google avatar

Meg M.

Yelp
Brickley's is always the perfect summer stop. I recently came with friends and got a small coffee chip in a cup which was delicious. My friends got cake batter ice cream in cones with sprinkles. The staff know what is gluten free and are super friendly and efficient. The line was long to order but then I was brought my ice cream right away. There are lots of picnic tables under a tent to sit under. Definitely recommend stopping if you're in Gansett!!

Yelp
Food: killer ice cream. Coffee oreo was amazing Service: long line but it moved quick Ambiance: plentiful outdoor seating area with shaded tables

Yelp
Ice cream HEAVEN!! This place has it together for many reasons. The parking lot is well organized if people follow the arrows. The ordering process is simple. Place your order at one of the windows then they will call your name for your order. There are picnic tables by the road so you can watch the traffic jam. We ordered peanut butter cup and chocolate brownie. The ice cream was delicious. If I lived in RI, I would be here every day who cares about my health!!

Yelp
Delicious homemade ice cream minutes from Narragansett beach. I ordered one scoop of cake batter and one scoop of apple pie ice cream, my boyfriend ordered peanut butter cup with cookie dough. Both orders came out to $6 each which was very reasonable for the two large scoops each. The ice cream is super creamy and has generous chunks of flavor. The service was very fast and we arrived on a sunny day with a long line. We sat at picnic tables in the grass under a shaded tent. Overall a very nice experience!

Yelp
I live in Middletown and I make sure I drive to Brickleys at least once a week. I cannot recommend their coffee Oreo ice cream enough! I am completely obsessed. It's gushing with Oreos and the coffee flavor has the perfect amount of sweetness!!

Yelp
I am not an Ice Cream person. When I rarely crave Ice Cream I am very specific about what I would like, with a few preferred options. Well, I got a new one on the list! My first time at Brickley's I got a Black Raspberry Chip yogurt topped with vanilla soft serve...It was yummy, but I really dig the bottom flavor...now I found myself craving for a Black Raspberry Chip Yogurt cup. Love it. Not so sweet, not sugary, but flavorful and delicious. Unique flavor. Food, service and ambiance: Thumbs up!

Yelp
Our party of 7 each enjoyed our choice. The vegan ice cream was also yummy. Nice service, clean space to sit & eat, and enough off the road to be quiet. Big portions, too.

Yelp
-good prices -fast service -shaded picnic tables -good parking -lots of trash cans -the ice cream is fantastic

Yelp
This is really delicious ice cream. There are many flavors and very generous servings. Definitely worth the stop!

Yelp
Inconsiderate kids running the place. We were on a family vacation excited for waffle cones. They purposely stopped making them at 9:45 so they can clean the machine. I know this because I overheard them. They also shut the lights off outside in hopes to kick everyone out. We love this place and will be back, but can they get someone older to manage these kids and teach them about customer service. You can tell they just wanted to get out of there. Shame on them.

Yelp
Arrived and almost bowled over caressing couple in the middle of the parking lot whom had no spatial awareness and as far as I could tell, quite frankly, NO ice cream. I was given a cone (small) of ice cream that was so stacked that it was impossible to eat without getting messy. I was afraid that eating it in front of people would be demeaning so I had to find an odd little private spot near the storage containers and in a little corner near some bushes in pitch black darkness and I'm pretty sure a family of at least 4 was watching me intently. Maybe consider adding a bench facing those bushes for future private outings of mine. I would have ordered a 'kiddie cone' but I was already feeling humiliated and didn't feel like dealing with more today. Xoxo

Yelp
Great creamy ice cream. Nice staff very Efficient . The best flavors and ingredients they add love to their product

Yelp
During the pandemic, we went to the Narragansett store. Social distancing was enforced and after getting our treats, we sat outside by the benches. Nice night. I loved my pistachio on sugar cone. Tasty and light...not too sweet. Our friend Dan got a hot fudge sundae over vanilla ice cream on a waffle cone...lots of goodness, lots of real flavor. If you are in the area, check it out, one of the best ice cream places.

Yelp
We visit Brickleys at least 1X each year and it's always good! The narragansett location does require some "people-watching" in order to understand the process of ordering and waiting for said order. The staff tend to forget that you never know when it could be someone's first visit. I've overheard many people place their order and then confusingly attempt to wait for their ice cream in the ordering line, or attempt to go inside to retrieve it. Second, they have some unique flavors! I will say they are lacking on the toppings, and the amount of toppings inside the ice cream - for example, my mint oreo had one oreo piece in it. Also, not really sure why, but every time we come here, my husband and I end up having to use the bathroom an hour later, as if we just chugged a coffee. Doesn't stop us from coming back each year though!

Rob C.

Yelp
Went for ice cream last night. The chocolate ice cream was the worst chocolate I ever had. The hot fudge was also terrible. There are new owners so things have changed

Yelp
Im backkkkkk! I love it here. Got apple pie this time - wow. 10/10 y'all! The waffle cups/cones are so good. Thanks brickleys!

Kaitlin B.

Yelp
Best ice cream ever!! I only come here in the summer on vacation and Brickley's is the thing I look forward to most. The employees are so kind and the service is always speedy. The line could be to the street and you'll have your order in under 10 minutes.
google avatar

Jane S.

Yelp
Had the butter brickley and blueberry flavors. The butter brickley was very good. Creamy and flavorful. The blueberry had a weird taste to it, not to my liking. Wish we could've tried some flavors before purchasing.
google avatar

Yelp
How could I have not reviewed this place? Anyway Rhode Islanders know their ice cream, and as a native R.I. I can say without hesitation its some of the best ice cream in the state and possibly New England, its that good. Great range of flavors (my wife loved the lemon) and I think the coffee is like no other. Excellent cabinets (if you have to ask what that is, you have not spent much time here) and the fudge in the hot fudge sunday top shelf. Both venues Wakefield and Narragansett equally excellent.

Yelp
THE BEST ICE CREAM I HAVE EVER HAD! I absolutely LOVE ice cream and pretty much eat it everyday. I live in NJ and love visiting local homemade ice cream shops. Brickley's swept me up my feet. Not only are the waffle cones massive there but they have so many delicious flavors -- it's so hard to choose. I stuck with a sugar cone and chose apple pie and peach as my two flavors. Oh, I got a small and it was massive! A small on a waffle cone is pretty much a medium in Europe or NYC. The best part is the prices are cheap in Brickley's. A small or medium would probably cost less than a pint of Talenti or Haagen Dazs from a supermarket. I ended up staying an extra day in Narragansett just so I could try Brickley's before I left and I'm so glad I did!
google avatar

Michaela L.

Yelp
Best ice cream around. What makes a beach day even better? A sundae!! This place will not disappoint.
google avatar

Karen V.

Yelp
Oh yum! If you want to splurge this is the place. There is a reason the lines are so long. Had the cherry ice cream which did not skimp on an abundance of real cherries in it. I had to sit and eat it to savor every bite. My cousin added the apple pie flavor ice cream to his order and it was divine. Definitely could make this place a destination. I have lived in Rhode Island 27 years and this was my first visit here how could I have missed this place.. Please don't miss it.

Yelp
Totally a solid ice cream place in Narragansett with a huge parking lot, lots of picnic tables and really yummy ice cream. They seem to have the covid ordering process down pat and though the line was a little long it went fast. I love how they have the flavors at the ordering counter and In the line so people can pick what they want before getting to the front, much faster. I got choc brownie and my boyfriend got mint Oreo. We both enjoyed our ice creams, the small size is a good size I wouldn't get bigger because the ice cream is so rich and the small is generous. However you can only get one flavor in a small so if you wanted two flavors I would get two kiddie sizes to try more flavors. They were out of sprinkles :( Next time I want to try a waffle cone but cones are never a good idea when it's 100 degrees out!
google avatar

Laurel G.

Yelp
Smooth, thick, scrumptious ice cream that doesn't immediately melt all over your hand. The staff recommended these as the top three best flavors: 1. Chocolate Brownie (dark delicious chocolate) 2. Coffee Oreo 3. Salted Caramel (the chocolate chip chunks in it are the perfect touch!) Don't be dismayed if there's a long line, the service is super fast so the line moves quickly.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Always a local favorite can't go wrong . Covid kind of ruined the experience of going in and smelling the fresh waffle cones, you have to wait outside but ice cream is top tier for sure
google avatar

Chad S.

Yelp
Never a bad thing to say about the best ice cream in Narragansett! Great service and great ice cream nothing better to end a summer day than Brickleys!

Wesley W.

Yelp
Best ice cream on the eastern seaboard with original flavors and plentiful scoops. Nice outdoor seating.

Anita T.

Yelp
The best Ice Cream in South Kingstown!! I've had Ice Cream around RI and New England. Brickley's I feel is the best!
google avatar

Kristen K.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best homemade ice cream shops around hands down! Creamy and full of deliciousness. And the delightful smell surrounding the building and inside is to die for! Those freshly made waffle cones ... I don't even like them but the smell is out of this world! Maple Walnut and Butter Brickley are my go tos. Stop by for a lick or two or three ... you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Debrin S.

Yelp
You would think there would be cows out back or at least hear some distant mooing in the back ground. The scent of sweet cream & toasty waffle cones perfume the air. The interior is bright & minimal. Service is very friendly & patient. These kids work hard but with a smile! Vacationing down the road made it impossible, or improbable, but either way we came here a lot! I tried the cookie dough, the chocolate coconut almond, coffee Oreo, and Grapenut (it's a New England thing). I loved all of them! This is farm fresh ultra creamy ice cream. Unctuous, decadent, not overly sweet. Menu, which changes often, offers a broad variety of flavors. Kept @ the perfect temperature. This is a total MUST if your visiting or some how missed this local gem.
google avatar

Meagan L.

Yelp
Brickley's offers the best tasting and most true sized ice cream! There is none other like their soft ice cream, waffles, and wonderful service. I always look forward to coming here and trying new flavors!

bonita n.

Yelp
Delicious, creamy scoops of maple walnut and banana ice cream! Hubby enjoyed his 2 scoops of coconut-based vegan ice cream.
google avatar

Lindsay K.

Yelp
This is one of the best ice cream places that I've ever been to.... and I love ice cream! When we arrived there was a bit of an intimidating line. It went super quickly and everyone working there was very nice. As soon as you step inside, you can smell their homemade waffle cones. There's a ton of flavors to pick from and they will let you sample if you're not sure. The mint chip was delicious and the hot fudge was just the right consistency. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
When we are in the Narragansett/Point Judith area we usually like going to Vanilla Bean for ice cream, but on our recent trip we were staying right near Brickley's and didn't feel like driving so we gave them a shot. Totally worth it. I got the coffee oreo and peanut butter cup, my wife got salted caramel and something else. All the flavors were on point, but where they really shined were the homemade waffle cones. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Paul Francis M.

Yelp
Place reminds me a bit like Sundae School on the Cape where there is a line out the door and people eating delicious ice cream everywhere. Walked up to the front of the building and loved the aroma coming out of the door. Line moved quick which was nice. My cousins recommended getting cake batter ice cream with chocolate sprinkles in a waffle cone, so I did. I didn't taste the cake batter until after eating all of the sprinkles which were delightfully thin and tasty. The ice cream was mouthwatering good. My only complaint was I just finished eating a Brisket BBQ Grilled Cheese from ChopHouse Grille so not the greatest combo in my stomach. I tried my grandmothers chocolate ice cream which she only had a couple bites because she was already full and to say the least it wasn't a great bite. Hard to describe but the chocolate flavor didn't sit with me. Tried a bite of my aunts pecan ice cream and I wasn't crazy about it ether. Maybe my tastebuds were tapped out but if I travel back down this way and stop here after the beach those will be two flavors I will not order. I like the place and will stop here again
google avatar

Christine F.

Yelp
I understand the hype! This place is great, and they give huge portions-- my waffle cone was a full meal. They also accept cards (used to be cash only). This is the perfect place to go after a long day at the beach :)

Tess M.

Yelp
The ice cream quality here is top-notch with tons of different flavors. The lines seem long but the staff is so efficient and quick

Sapana S.

Yelp
Must visit place if you are in Narragansett beach Ri. #peach ice-cream is worth the hype!!

Roxy G.

Yelp
Ice cream here is way too sweet. They really need a matcha flavor. Good outdoor set up.
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
It doesn't get better then this. Trust me. Real homemade ice cream. Highly recommended. Take it from me.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
Stopped here on a recommendation from a server at another RI restaurant. She said it was the best in the area, along with many of the reviews here after looking it up when she suggested it. Giving this place 3 stars although I would probably say it was more of a 3.5. Ice cream here was good, but not anything I haven't had already. I had a scoop of the maple and a scoop of the sweet cream. Again good flavor and creamy but nothing shocking and they are stingy on the mixed in ingredients. I guess this is considered a big deal for Rhode Island and the surrounding areas but in NY and Philly there is easy access to much better homemade artisan ice cream shops.

Yelp
It takes a tasty, spot-on ice cream parlor to woo this lass into ice-cream loving submission...and Brickley's has done it. I just discovered this purveyor of frozen, creamy goodness within the last year and now I make a fairly regular pilgrimage to this location - all the way from Warwick!! That IS saying something considering that besides our favorite local coffee pusher here in Little Rhody, there is a fairly plentiful sprinkling of ice cream joints per square mile between here and down there. Speaking of sprinkles (or jimmies), they offer the chocolate variety of the very best caliber. Real bittersweet cocoa goodness packed into every teeny morsel. Nothing like the waxy, coat-the-top-of-your-mouth brown tidbits you find elsewhere. If you are a lover of fine chocolate, these will be your reason for your drive south to this little parlor. I know it seems silly, but once you try them atop your favorite flavor, you will never suffer through brown, waxy topping ever again. The flavors here are varied and I adore that they are true to taste. They never are cloyingingly sweet or artificial. In fact, all ingredients that are packed into their varieties are all-natural. My favorite is ginger. A light, creamy ginger base with nice morsels of spicy candied ginger throughout. Put that - or any flavor - into one of their homemade waffle cones and it is a winner, winner ice cream dinner. (yes - i HAVE replaced dinner with one of their cones on more than one occasion). The downside is that they are CASH ONLY! But there is a bank in the next plaza over...or an ATM in their own storefront. So worth the trip and it truly is the best ice cream I have tasted. evah.
google avatar

Alison F.

Yelp
I don't like ice cream, yet I happily drive from Providence to Narragansett as often as I can in the summer time specifically to go to Brickley's. Makes me miss college at URI, I lived right up the street and used to walk to Brickely's at least once a week once they opened for the season. If that doesn't convince you their ice cream is great then I don't know what will. The place is cash only, and lines may be daunting during prime beach season, but not to worry because they have an ATM and the line moves fast. Spring for a waffle cone. They're made fresh. Be prepared for a HUGE serving. My go to is a kid size, but I can occasionally manage to finish a small. MASSIVE servings I tell you, it's awesome. I'm a big fan of the yogurt, either black raspberry or mocha chip, but the ginger ice cream is also a unique and intriguing flavor that I go for occasionally.

Yelp
First time visitor. Given how many people swear up-and-down that this is the best ice cream ever, I was really excited to try it. Really sad to say that it's just way overrated. Despite long lines, the service was very fast and friendly. Fairly nicely organized in regards to COVID safety... the ordering was good but the pickup could be improved. I had bing cherry-- the cherries are... nice? Not exciting at all, but comforting. The unflavored base that they were in, however, was just... super duper boring. A good ice cream base should be absolutely lovely by itself, and while this wasn't *unpleasant* per se, just really wasn't compelling. Texture was fine but it was fairly low butterfat, didn't have any hit of vanilla, custardiness, depth from really nice cream, or really anything else that compelled me to take a second bite. It was topped with grocery-store-level canned whipped cream. My wife got black raspberry and it was tasty, but clearly the same flavor syrup or whatever that every other rando ice cream place uses in their black raspberry. I think this place probably sparks nostalgia among the people who love it-- which is great... more power to them-- but the ice cream itself is really, really nothing special.
google avatar

Yelp
First time coming to Brickleys and I had huge expectations. The ice cream was definitely as good as everyone said it was. I got a small coffee oreo in a waffle cone and I tasted a strong, authentic coffee flavor which many places can't seem to achieve. My waffle cone was fresh but a little lack luster in flavor. My biggest gripe with this place is that they serve their ice cream too soft because holy moly I have never had an ice cream cone that melted as fast as this one. I've had plenty of ice creams in my life time and I don't think I've eaten one that melted as fast as this one. Due to this, I had to throw out my cone halfway through since it was literally all liquid and was just dripping down my hand. Good ice cream just wish it was a little harder so it wouldn't melt as quickly especially given the summertime heat too.

Yelp
My family had such a great experience at Brickley's on July 4th. We were staying a short walk away and the promise of fresh ice cream on a hot day really got all the youngsters in the family excited. And obviously myself too. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by the owner who washed down my table and wished me a happy holiday. He returned after the entire family got their ice creams and brought us over some damp rags and cups and spoons. He was really busting his butt making sure everyone was happy and enjoying their visit. We ended up having a great chat about the current state of affairs, the red sox, and life in general. I couldn't believe anyone would be rude to he and the staff. When my family returns to Narragansett next July we will definitely be stopping by. Thank you! PS. I got the Peanut Butter Cup ice cream in a waffle cone. Excellent. Get the waffle cone. You know you want it.
